Just because you're an actor, it doesn't mean that you cannot be taken seriously. Actors can be intelligent, driven people with important things to say and they can be capable of doing good things.
Of course you're right, but America can't seem to tell the difference between a Donald Trump celebrity and Cynthia Nixon type celebrity. That's an indictment of many voters who tend to be obsessed with the wrong kind of celebrity. There are a lot of people in the country who think The Rock would be a good president....The Rock, for f*cks sake! I rest my case.
D LG Objectively speaking, Trump being a celebrity is very, very low on the list of reasons why he is unfit to be president. It is true that large swathes of voters were fooled by his billionaire boss image on The Apprentice, but it's not his fame that makes him a bad president. It's his lack of intellectual curiosity, his narcissism, his racism, his misogyny, his deep, unquenchable thirst for praise and approval no matter where it might come from, a hundred other reasons. I feel like celebrities running for public office (just like regular politicians) do need to prove their mettle and substance, something which Cynthia Nixon is doing and Donald Trump did not.
+Jedd Sure, many celebrities aren't just celebrities, but we're talking specifically about entertainment figures here, who may or may not have other prominent qualities. Of course, Trump's celebrity, in itself, isn't necessarily the problem with him. However, his 'big boss' celebrity persona on The Apprentice *is* the thing that many of his supporters were drawn to. So while I agree that celebrity, in itself, isn't the core problem, the tendency of people to gravitate to vapid celebrities is a major problem.
Stephen you've proved yet again to be the best damn interviewer on television.. Tough questions! And Ms Cynthia Nixon... You CRUSHED it! Wow. Great interview.
@jack johnson - Boo hoo, jack! YOU need to grow up and understand that ANYONE can be ANYTHING they want. Like running for office as an elected politician.
Except the question about her inexperience, which she completely glossed over and started talking about social justice instead. Huh, maybe she will make a fine politician.
Damn... She Knocked it out of the park.. Go Cynthia ! Thank you for helping to pave the way toward where The United States of America was intended to be.....
She didn't dodge a single question... that makes me like her a lot. Sometimes, Trump excluded, not electing career politicians to political office is a good thing.

Cynthia is the real deal people! Go out, vote in your New York primaries. Get this wonderful women into office so you finally see meaningful, positive change.
Iron Claw Gaming - I WILL NOT. I'm a liberal NYer and I wouldn't vote for her. We have enough people in government with no experience and don't know what in the hell they're doing. I'm a secretary and can't go act on a Broadway stage. Nixon is an actress and that's where she needs to remain.
KLM Hooked Moore - This is my dilemma, as well. I like what Nixon has to say and intends to do should she become governor, but the lack of political experience is real. New York is a big, important, complex state and needs someone who knows how things truly work. At this point in time, I honestly don't know for whom I would vote.
Slutty McTits - We've already got a president who has no political or governmental experience and is unqualified for the position. As I said, I wouldn't vote for her.
KLM Hooked Moore Did you not watch the video. This women clearly knows what she’s talking about. I’d trust her over any of the morally bankrupt politicians we have in Washington right now.
Tristan Möller Stephen like all television hosts tends to ask tough questions to actual progressives but goes easy on basically everyone else. Maybe I dont watch enough of his clips but from what I've seen that holds true.
The ChillyWinds It has less to do with progressives and more to do with politics as a whole. Politics is Stephen's field of expertise. If someone is serious about it, he's going to challenge that conviction and let them (politicians/people running) know they're being held accountable. He's grilled plenty of Republican's as well. He doesn't grill people he doesn't take seriously (politically), for example, he didn't grill Trump when he was on during the elections because a) he didn't really consider his political knowledge to be that vast and b) nobody really thought he could win. The questions were hard here because Stephen decided to take Cynthia seriously based on her initial answers. His questions and her answers gave leeway for people to take her seriously as well.
So, she successfully portrayed someone you didn't like in a fictional story. Just goes to show she's a good actress. I still can't believe how many people aren't able to tell the difference between an actor and the fictional character they portray in a TV show.
Remember that Cynthia was a prominent advocate and leader in GLAAD and the NY Alliance for Quality Education, as well as being honored recently with an award from the Human Rights Campaign. She is more than just an actress. She's the right choice for governor.

This was essentially a perfect interview. I'm not even American and I'd stand in line to vote for her just because of this interview. Can't wait to see her run for office in 2024
I don’t know why, but from her demeanor I do get a very strong sense this is merely the beginning for her, she oozes this confidence, clarity and warmth that I could very well see carrying her to the White House. She’s like a blend of Warren and Sanders but seemingly with even more ambition.
Not a fan of celebrities becoming politicians, but theres something different about her. The establishment Democrats should be taking her seriously, because she's really been resonating with voters.
I could not stop smiling as she was speaking. She is strong in her gentleness, her message is inclusive and about removing oppressive policies. She is a civil healer. I hope she wins!
Seriously impressed. Did not know that recreational marijuana legalisation is a racial justice issue. Do now. She has clarity of thoughts and purpose, unlike many American leaders at the moment. I am not an American, but can still sense her leadership abilities. Hope she wins.
I may not be a "Miranda" fan, but I can really become a fan of Cynthia. If I lived in NY, I would vote for her. Good luck on your run, Ms. (Good) Nixon.
nope ur right, americans politics have become a clown show from the right and now the left but this is what weve made it seems. raise a generation of entitled political science majors and this is what u get when they realize the world isnt gonna shine light up their asses because they were always told they were'special' everyone gets a trophy eh
DaydreamerWonderland I used to say "I am well" now I say " I'm good" thats is my go to phrase. Why? Because I noticed that people are left confused with the, i am well.
DaydreamerWonderland I agree. It's almost pathetic that a person speaking proper English stands out in such a way. It's just a rare quality in this day in age.
Stephen isn't hostile in this interview, as some people seem to think. He's asking the questions DOUBTERS would ask because he knows Cynthia has good answers for them, which helps convincing doubters that maybe she IS the right person for the job - and it worked for me. I clicked on this video like, meh, maybe it will at least be funny, but now I'm absolutely in favor of her becoming the governor of New York - but I'm just some dude from Germany anyway, so it doesn't really matter. Point is, he asked the right questions in the right manner because he knew she had the right answers. That "two Emmys" thing was just him playing, and maybe testing her a little.
I agree. To some, those may have seemed like attacks, but, if you listen to those answers, you will find that, to Cynthia Nixon, they were opportunities.
They are probably previously requested questions so she can answer them in an accepting atmosphere. Fair play to her though she seems to have the right intentions
But she did it by stating concrete policies that she would follow and things that she would do, not by just stating that she "is" part of those groups. And it's LGBTQ. Even a straight guy like me knows that one. Heck. I even feel tempted to name corresponding groups on the right ("people who worship at the altar of big business") because some of your names are so slimy.
@@cpuwrite lol i swear they add letters to LGBTQ just to keep people on their toes. I always remain neutral in politics although i admire the constructs of interviews like this and i like Stephen he's a good guy
@Simon Kanner. Cynthia is not going to throw the baby out with the bath water, stupid! Cuomo could do a whole lot more but hasn't done because he been living in his corporate sponsors' pockets.
She thinks well on her feet and doesn't seem to be flustered. Although I no longer live in New York, I believe she would make a wonderful governor of the state I was raised in.
If she didn't have you at "I am taking Zero corporate donations" then I don't know what it would take... I'd just like to note that New York does not begin and end at the city limits. There is an awful lot of New York beyond those city limits. It is a beautiful state but there are a lot of areas that look like they've been forgotten when it comes to funding. I hope this would change with Cynthia's help.
If she didn't have you at how much she cares about NY public schools, so much so that she got arrested for organizing protest to get more money allocated to ny public schools. And she really does ride the ny subway system , Ive seen her a few times way before she decided to run.
This is why I like democrats/ independents/progressives - they can answer a question in full coherent sentences without falling back on prepayed talking points.
I completely agree with her on every point, even the one about celebrity. Celebrities do not all make shitty public servants. If Stephen Colbert ever runs for president, I would seriously consider voting for him. But one major problem is that combination of fame and old money. Those people like Trump who get million dollar loans from father, brag about walking into models’ dressing room, have never been to a public school and don’t even have friends who go there, and simply don’t give a fuck about ordinary people who’re not a 10 and who don’t share his own personal/family interests.
She's been an activist and advocate for various progressive causes over the years, concentrating on public education. She's really brilliant, and regardless of her acting ability, has the capacity to be a great governor.
I feel like, if she wins we new yorkers would be able to breath a lot easier. I get this real honest kind of nerdy wanting to fix everything thats wrong from her and it feels so good and i hope if she doesn't win that she runs for another office, because i know there are doubters but i have the strongest feeling that she is the real deal !!!!
And my Axe! And my vote. She's legit. It's nice in NY to get to vote for a real progressive! She has an amazing platform which he didn't totally get to but he did very well playing advocate. Nixon's entry made Cuoma disband the DCCC which is the Republicans in the Democratic party allowing all sorts of terrible votes where Dems stab their brothers and just use the donor funds to pay for the elections and nothing comes of it. If a Dem wants to be a GOP guy, do it, don't be a Dem and then vote GOP all the time. NY is a great spot to start Universal Health Care. It's been brought up and tabled many times, that's one of her platforms. She's legit, people. Cuomo is a billionaire or at least 750M and he is as milk toast as they come. He stopped fracking I'll give him that. Cuomo is good with the status quo, doesn't hate gays and is okay with women's right to choose, but he's not move a whole lot to protect other groups and predict a future incursion as can happen anytime. Okay lecture over. I'm voting for her though and I'm very proud to do so!
Did you even watch the interview? She admitted she has no political expertise, just cited a lucky breakout role as evidence that she should be governor for some reason... This is almost a bad of an idea as Oprah running
#CynthiaforNewYork please.. anyone in NY vote for her. I've listened to so many interviews and she is what we need right now, not corporate Cuomo. Hey, I accidentally came up with a Donny "tiny hands" type nickname
For critics, remember that Schwarzenegger and Reagan both were known as actors and became governor of California , with no political background. They were men. I believe she has a chance to run a good campaign.
Debbie Vernon Yeah, but remember, Reagan was our first Barracks Emperor. He took the most thriving democracy on Earth and ruined it. Now we got a corporate state. Tell your Republican friends, I said good job
Debbie is saying she is in support of Cynthia. She is namely referring to the Republican critics that doubt Cynthia's political strength due to her acting career, when in history there have been a few celebrities that became politicians and were well supported.
I've always found her annoying as hell as an actress, but she has the right answer for all of those questions. If you can't have a left-wing Democrat in NEW YORK, then something is wrong.
as Maybe women like her should just be politicians instead of actors. Some people are like that. Annoying in one career but capable and charismatic in another.
That's way too generous to Cuomo in that it implies that he is a right wing democrat. The way he agreed to the Republican gerrymandering plus the dishonest game with the Independent Democrat Conference that has kept the senate in Republican hands shows him as, at heart, a Republican and not even one of the honest ones.
hell, i'm still mystified how new york city got Giuliani as a mayor. actually, no, i'm even more confused how a switch dem/rep new york rich city boy got the presidency. politics are just fucked these days. California's pretty darn happy bein very blue... vote hard in November, people.
While I fully support her positions and would love to see her win her focus on just NYC issues seems myopic and I dont see folks in the rust belt of Buffalo or Syracuse wanting to vot for her. I will be curious to see if Colbert will give equal time to Quomo - he deserves a grilling.
Good for Cynthia Nixon. She sure shot down corporatist Colbert. I like him, he's funny, but he owes much to his corporate sponsors that it shows. I'm glad to know who I'll be voting for, for the next Governor of New York. Cheers
COOL! I remember Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk talking about her running a few weeks back and totally on board with her. It's great to see her getting on a national talk show to promote her platform! Wish they would have talked about her platform a little more, but the exposure on the national stage is always good! BTW, the New York Working Families Party, FULLY endorses her!
Agree. But i think also it's good she addresses what everyone is thinking right out of the gate so we can move on to more important things. Like policy. Also watch ST. 😉
I'm feeling a lot of hope for this fall election bc of ppl like her. Let's get rid of these morbidly wealthy leeches that suck us dry and leave us with the bill anyway.
When I heard about her run for Governor I groaned thinking Trump was opening the door for other unqualified, pseudo celebrities to enter public office, but hearing her speak on actual issues with a strong grasp, I am now rooting for her to win. #cynthiaforgoverner
Centrism (America) = Rightwing (On the global spectrum); Leftism (America) = Centrism (On the global spectrum); For instance: Redistributing Healthcare is only a far-left idea in America, whereas it has already become a reality in most of the industrialized world (i.e. Centrist)
For all the corporates that Steven invited, finally he gives platform to a genuine person fighting for the people and not for the corporate interest. Steven please do invite more people from Justice Democratic platform, they deserve to be heard out.
Kunzang Dordže, she got invited just because she has name recognition and very probably she called in some favours in the showbiz to get on the show. That's why it is so important she's decided to run as a progressive. Unfortunately normal people, however great they may be, have no access to mainstream media.
I like Colbert but I've never taken him to be a Berniecrat which is why it is significant that he is giving Cynthia a platform. You don't have to be a Berniecrat to think NY needs someone better than Cuomo
Got the feeling that when she got talking about pot someone was screaming in Stephens earpice "wrap it up Steve, our pharamacydical sponsors are losing their shit" anyway... good on her.
Loved this interview. Thanks for promoting her thoughtful and intelligent platform by pressing her with tough questions Stephen! If I lived in NY she would have my vote for sure.
I’m a white woman of some age but I will agree that you are right when you say it has been legal for whites to smoke marijuana and time we do it for all races! Besides my grandchildren tell me they will make it legal when they can vote .. and I say if I were a New Yorker I’d vote for you ..
Never a fan of her as an actress but I think she is right about celebrities in politics. There is synergy there in terms of it giving you a bump to your notoriety. But you do have to actually be passionate about governing and have some conviction in your goals and know your stuff to actually do the job. And to be fair to her, at least vocally, she does seem to display that. Way more than another celebrity politician that comes to mind.
Love Cynthia! Been following her campaign since she announced and, even though I'm not a NY resident, I'm supporting her financially and others should too. We need to send a clear message to the corrupt political establishment in Nov. Too many voters don't realize how difficult it is to run an effective campaign when you don't take corporate cash, while your opponent is receiving gobs of it. It's nearly impossible for progressives to win without ongoing individual contributions from voters, so please support Cynthia and the many other grassroots progressive candidates all around the country, so the 'real left' can finally have a chance to lead!
As a lifelong resident of NYS, from the Bronx to a rural Adirondack community, I have to disagree with her about the description of NYSs political nature. Yes we always show up in national, presidential elections as a blue state. Step outside of NYC, Albany, Syracuse and Buffalo and we turn purple and solidly red as in the case of my own 21st congressional district. To give an example, I watched, supported and contributed to the campaign of Zephyr Teachout in N.Y.s 23 district, just south of Albany, and she was a wonderful progressive choice and she lost. It's eye opening to understand that even this state is prone to right wing leanings and to becoming more like Michigan, Wisconsin or Ohio, which have turned into havens for far right wing ideologues if it weren't for the urban centers.Anyway, I am no fan of Cuomo and welcome her to challenge him. If it makes sense, I will support her and contribute to her campaign. It's a good thing that Colbert had her on his show.
I think that is by and large the way democrats have been dealing with the backroads town. For years Republicans have used fear tactics and shame as their answer, and democrats just screeching they are wrong. Cynthia is among the first to actually ask what they can do for these towns with more adults then jobs.
I am so glad I saw this! She is a breath of fresh air where it’s been way to foul! it takes intelligence and genuine passion to do what’s right. No corporate cash!! No special interest, but the will of the people! Let the common sense people run government again!
An actress who understands what her platform entails. Don't necessarily agree with her from a policy standpoint, but I can appreciate a straight shooter when I see one
I love that he’s asking some tough questions (that her opposition has probably been serving her frequently) and really letting her hit back. Her answers are so direct and no-bullshit and frankly that’s really refreshing these days. No sugarcoating, no tiptoeing around the question, just a professional, strong back-and-forth interview!
I'm not sure just what the motive was with that joke but it did deflate her for a few moments. She recovered well, though - that's what counts in the end.
Motive was to be funny, and it actually elevated her. People identify with those who have had setbacks rather than the “perfect” life. Doing that joke so early brought her down a peg and likely made viewers more receptive to her. Funny how the human mind works!
I'm BLOWN away by her. She answered every question straight on. Tough questions at that. Not only did she articulate each point to perfection, but she's revealed how truly intelligent and knowledgable she is about politics and changes she stands for. 100% support her.
I love that he specifically pointed out that she has little to no political experience! That's honestly something I would expect a left-wing journalist (or comedy journalist in this case?) to conveniently just not talk about so as not to bring attention to anything negative about her. But you know what? Yes! Make her defend that point. Kudos!! Challenge and question everything/everyone! Especially those you look up to! In fact, those are the people we need to criticize the most. We need to hold them to an even HIGHER standard for the very reason that we DO look up to them! And when they don't meet that standard and let you down, call them out on it! I hate it when a celebrity (be it a youtuber or the president) does something questionable and everyone who was a devoted fan or voted for them immediately gets defensive! They are more concerned about defending their credibility and their decision to vote for/be a fan of that person and try to make excuses for that person's actions instead of calling them out on their shortcomings and mistakes! Loyalty and trust should be earned....and even once it is earned it should also have to be earned BACK when it is compromised. AND for that matter, if someone who you did NOT vote for or were never a fan of does something good and commendable, call them out for that too! Sorry for the rant just something I felt like saying...
This reminded of *Hamilton* Oh, am I talkin too loud? Sometimes I get over excited, shoot off at the mouth I never had a group of friends before I promise that I’ll make y’all proud 👏🏾
If anything, calling someone you love and respect out on their bad behavior shows that you really do love them and respect them, because you're saying that they're capable of so much more than what they're doing. That is the highest level of love and respect I can think of.
Those aren't too tough questions, and they shouldn't since this is a comedy show, but having her run is important. Not being sponsored means she answers to no one, and how that direction goes is something to look out for. Furthermore, NO ONE should be excluded from this process. If Cynthia Nixon does win and hopefully bring better change even to a democratic haven like New York, you have no reason to not support her.
Some of you are saying she is a bad actress,I disagree. Check out her performance on an episode of ER. She played a stroke victim and her performance was so realistic that the episode was shown to medical staff to give them some insight into what someone might be going through while having a stroke.🙄
Wow. Just wow! Now that's more like it. We don't need self serving politicians in Govt, we need everyday humans to take the helm and demonstrate true unbiased leadership. Not just in the US but all around the world. Go, Cynthia, go!
This was a fantastic interview by Colbert! He pushed her, asked her the questions many people are asking and she seemed genuine and insightful. I'm won over. Cynthia for NY ❤️
"You can have more than one career in your life" become my motto right now.
Lintar Satria tell that to arnold...
Lintar Satria of course you can. I’m at number 3 and far from done. Life is too short not to evolve yourself.
Statistically everybody has between three and five what would be called professions in a lifetime.
Can we just talk about how her clothes were ON POINT for a second? She strutted out there like she owned the place. You go, girl! A true inspiration.
Stout Shako i kno! i was watching her thinking, i need some of those red pants!
Rockin' the clown pants.
Stout Shako Seems like a useless topic.

She answered the questions, that is so strange to hear from a politician😉

She's a smart cookie. She went to top-notch NYC public high school.
Stand back haters, i didn't like her as an actress, but she's nailing these questions. She's got the right attitude and an intelligent platform.
Believe me, Governor Cynthia Nixon has a better ring to it than Sex and the City Star Cynthia Nixon.

You didn`t know that??? You can hear it in 1 out of 2 rap songs!!!
Never watched her work, but she's actually nailing her points. Knock Cuomo off his mafia high horse.
I may not be a "Miranda" fan, but I can really become a fan of Cynthia. If I lived in NY, I would vote for her. Good luck on your run, Ms. (Good) Nixon.
Cuomo pack your bags there's a new governor coming to Albany you have my vote Nixon
Lushima Lumumba-Kasongo This woman is an absolute joke. No more hollywood jackasses in office please.
jack johnson You're not gonna like the news out of NY. :'D
nope ur right, americans politics have become a clown show from the right and now the left but this is what weve made it seems. raise a generation of entitled political science majors and this is what u get when they realize the world isnt gonna shine light up their asses because they were always told they were'special' everyone gets a trophy eh
Okay I know this is a tiny thing but still : I love that she says "I'm very well' and not "I'm good". Been a while since I've heard that
DaydreamerWonderland
It's true that sometimes speaking well matters.
Thandi M 😂😂😂 I'm in Mississippi, and I've noticed looks of confusion many times to my response of "I'm well", also.
Ya even colbert said good after that lol
Also she's just ticked all the lefty boxes to vote for her
Weed
Women rights
LGTQ
Poor
People who hate big business
But she did it by stating concrete policies that she would follow and things that she would do, not by just stating that she "is" part of those groups.
And it's LGBTQ. Even a straight guy like me knows that one.
Heck. I even feel tempted to name corresponding groups on the right ("people who worship at the altar of big business") because some of your names are so slimy.
@@cpuwrite lol i swear they add letters to LGBTQ just to keep people on their toes.
I always remain neutral in politics although i admire the constructs of interviews like this and i like Stephen he's a good guy
She just earned my vote!
Nan Seefeldt you just earned my thumbs up👍🏼👍🏼
@Simon Kanner.
I LOVE HER!!!!!! Please, please, please vote her IN!
Cynthia Nixon ROCKS
This is why I like democrats/ independents/progressives - they can answer a question in full coherent sentences without falling back on prepayed talking points.
Valyn McNeil not all democrats but I agree
Leo Briones Most Democrats.
She's great
^^Another Cuomo staffer , probably sock, account.
she's got my vote.
She doesn't even have any experience, how are we any better than Republicans who vote for an actor who has no idea what he's doing...
gorginhanson actually, she has plenty of experience. You can find it with about 5 seconds of research.
Did you even watch the interview? She admitted she has no political expertise, just cited a lucky breakout role as evidence that she should be governor for some reason...
This is almost a bad of an idea as Oprah running
Mark Shepard not mine
#CynthiaforNewYork please.. anyone in NY vote for her. I've listened to so many interviews and she is what we need right now, not corporate Cuomo. Hey, I accidentally came up with a Donny "tiny hands" type nickname
So we should make publicity everywhere for her!!! If she doesn`t get corporate money we the people have to get active!!!
She`s accepting no corporate money!!! GO CYNTHIAAAAAA!!!
What's that? A politician talking in full sentences? I must be dreaming.
For critics, remember that Schwarzenegger and Reagan both were known as actors and became governor of California , with no political background. They were men. I believe she has a chance to run a good campaign.
Debbie Vernon As did Clint Eastwood, he was non-partisan mayor of Carmel, in California.
Love her. But what's the deal with the red pants with the bow???
While I fully support her positions and would love to see her win her focus on just NYC issues seems myopic and I dont see folks in the rust belt of Buffalo or Syracuse wanting to vot for her. I will be curious to see if Colbert will give equal time to Quomo - he deserves a grilling.
Good for Cynthia Nixon. She sure shot down corporatist Colbert. I like him, he's funny, but he owes much to his corporate sponsors that it shows. I'm glad to know who I'll be voting for, for the next Governor of New York. Cheers
Vote 1 Nixon.
Never thought I'd say that.
alcohol does way more damage that pot will ever do
COOL! I remember Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk talking about her running a few weeks back and totally on board with her. It's great to see her getting on a national talk show to promote her platform! Wish they would have talked about her platform a little more, but the exposure on the national stage is always good! BTW, the New York Working Families Party, FULLY endorses her!
rah rah, fellow secular talk viewer!
Agree. But i think also it's good she addresses what everyone is thinking right out of the gate so we can move on to more important things. Like policy. Also watch ST. 😉
you could make a atari 2600 game about her you know ;)
Ms. Cynthia Nixon spoke the facts. I hope New Yorkers give her their vote.
Stephen conducts a better interview than most journalists.
I'm feeling a lot of hope for this fall election bc of ppl like her. Let's get rid of these morbidly wealthy leeches that suck us dry and leave us with the bill anyway.
Me, too...and I agree.
Glad Stephen brought her on, her policies deserve all the attention they can get.
Looks like someone I'd vote for possibly.
She makes me want to move to NY just to vote for her! The USA NEEDS more people like her at every level in the USA.
When I heard about her run for Governor I groaned thinking Trump was opening the door for other unqualified, pseudo celebrities to enter public office, but hearing her speak on actual issues with a strong grasp, I am now rooting for her to win. #cynthiaforgoverner
I like her. She is articulate, knowledgeable, tactful, and thoughtful I would like to see her win.
I don't live in New York but she gets my vote ☕🍁💚🙏
James Butterson idem! I am not even American 😀😀😀😀 I am from italy 🇮🇹 and I would vote her for sure. Come here Chintya, just in case
James Butterson, totally agree! I would definitely vote for her.
Don't say that. It'll count as evidence of illegal voting to the GOP.
right on!
James Butterson Me too!! I am from New Jersey and I like her !!
centrism is dead ... leftism here we go!!!
Edwin Cowart ehhh please no too far in any direction doesnt work
Centrism (America) = Rightwing (On the global spectrum); Leftism (America) = Centrism (On the global spectrum); For instance: Redistributing Healthcare is only a far-left idea in America, whereas it has already become a reality in most of the industrialized world (i.e. Centrist)
A justice Democrat!!!
Cynthia for NY!!
THANK YOU for including the introductions!
Ditto.^^
For all the corporates that Steven invited, finally he gives platform to a genuine person fighting for the people and not for the corporate interest. Steven please do invite more people from Justice Democratic platform, they deserve to be heard out.
Kunzang Dordže YES, preach it brother
Kunzang Dordže, she got invited just because she has name recognition and very probably she called in some favours in the showbiz to get on the show.
That's why it is so important she's decided to run as a progressive. Unfortunately normal people, however great they may be, have no access to mainstream media.
I know right! I think this is first time Colbert had a progressive Democrat on show, and he was actually quite supportive. That was awesome.
I like Colbert but I've never taken him to be a Berniecrat which is why it is significant that he is giving Cynthia a platform. You don't have to be a Berniecrat to think NY needs someone better than Cuomo
He doesn't get the full say on who comes on his show. He's just the face, not the boss.
Got the feeling that when she got talking about pot someone was screaming in Stephens earpice "wrap it up Steve, our pharamacydical sponsors are losing their shit" anyway... good on her.
So happy to hear someone say "I am well" and not "I am good."
Snafuski "I am well" is perfectly grammatical and acceptable.
Completely agree.....can't stand I'm good
Loved this interview. Thanks for promoting her thoughtful and intelligent platform by pressing her with tough questions Stephen! If I lived in NY she would have my vote for sure.
Daymmm, Cynthia! Go get 'em! Progressives unite!
salvatornado she has always been a Hillary supporter so stop talking about her like she belongs to the shitty Bernie cohort lol
Yikes.
salvatornado exactly so GTFO and don’t ruin our party 🎉 like you ruined the country by handing it over to Trump.
Buh bye.
correct the record
You handed over the country to Trump by nominating someone who is un-electable.
Cynthia is a Berniecrat. Hillary has endorsed Cuomo.
Best of luck to her against the corrupt Democrat party
Democratic*
Yes! I do hope she wins.
Cynthia is OUTSTANDING - what excellent policies, smart as hell, has the gravitas for the role. We need more Democrats like her!
I'm a Texan. I would like to cash in my one-time pass to vote in a Northern primary? .......Please and thank you.
We need you down here with the rest of us to vote in Beto. Stay put!
Vote for Beto!
I’m a white woman of some age but I will agree that you are right when you say it has been legal for whites to smoke marijuana and time we do it for all races! Besides my grandchildren tell me they will make it legal when they can vote .. and I say if I were a New Yorker I’d vote for you ..
I always really liked her voice.
Tralala Jjj literally my thought as I heard her speak. It's silky smooth and feminine
She has a warm and sweet voice :)
Uh, what? It’s kinda screechy to me
I like everything about her except her voice. It's kinda high and screechy therefore a bit annoying.
Owned it! Nicely done Cynthia!!
I'd vote for her.
D LG you’re right! I’ll go donate to her now, she’s fantastic! 😃
She knocked it out of the park. I'm all in.
if she can ONLY achieve 2-3 things in her first term, she'll be the most successful and loved governor in history.....
Whew...at least she didn't say, "Legalizing marijuana is REPARATIONS for black folks." this time.
Hello beautiful how are you doing today I hope you are doing good?
We are so full of great people in US but I m still surprised we ended up with TRUMP!!
Friendofyours chandan God knows you're not the only one who thinks about that every day.
It amazes me every day
HE DIDNT GET THE POPULAR VOTE. WE DIDNT VOTE FOR HIM!!!! 😣☹😖😩😧😭He won because of moneyyyy which rules the world unfortunately
I will ABSOLUTELY be voting for Cynthia Nixon in the Democratic primary.
CYNTHIA FOR NY! She brought it, CHARSIMA and PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATIC values, LOVE LOVE LOVE her
Please dear God, let a true FDR-Dem win for Once!! :-)
Watch out. Authentic human-being roaming freely amongst the predators...
Zaroff's Trophy Room ..... ❤❤❤
I hope Cuomo continues to think her candidacy is silly.
HOW DID U WIN THAT SECOND GRAMMY?
OmG that was so good
Yeah, that was very funny.
I'm not sure just what the motive was with that joke but it did deflate her for a few moments. She recovered well, though - that's what counts in the end.
Setup, punchline and punch...
Sick burn!
I can tell She's very smart
Please vote for her New York.
Awesome interview! Great speaker! Great points! Looks & behaves like a winner!!!
She's got my vote...!
Cynthia for New York ❤️
This will be one of the first times I get to vote! I love her already and Will be following her campaign religiously!
I’m moving to New York if she wins
She touched on a LOT of issues. Too many to count but her closing statement about marijuana and racial justice was the best.
Hello beautiful how are you doing today I hope you are doing good?
This reminded of *Hamilton*
Oh, am I talkin too loud?
Sometimes I get over excited, shoot off at the mouth
I never had a group of friends before
I promise that I’ll make y’all proud
👏🏾
If anything, calling someone you love and respect out on their bad behavior shows that you really do love them and respect them, because you're saying that they're capable of so much more than what they're doing.
That is the highest level of love and respect I can think of.
Those aren't too tough questions, and they shouldn't since this is a comedy show, but having her run is important. Not being sponsored means she answers to no one, and how that direction goes is something to look out for. Furthermore, NO ONE should be excluded from this process. If Cynthia Nixon does win and hopefully bring better change even to a democratic haven like New York, you have no reason to not support her.
Love her, Colbert the man
She was brilliant in A Quiet Passion!
"I feel like I was just set up.."
Gotchya journalism.... get used to it!
Some of you are saying she is a bad actress,I disagree. Check out her performance on an episode of ER. She played a stroke victim and her performance was so realistic that the episode was shown
to medical staff to give them some insight into what someone might be going through while having a stroke.🙄
Nixon is the one in 2018
Aria Horan "now more than ever"
Thank you for digging in with some hard-ish questions. It let her show her ideas and some grit.
Wow.
Its like seeing Bernie in heels
acdnan
A young, pretty version
Mikayla Bansie are you saying bernie isn’t pretty smh
I approve of this person. I predict she will win the New York governorship this cycle, then the US Presidency in 2024.
J.J. Shank I got chills just reading this lol
