I have the older version model UHG1010 Hitchgate Offset with 41" IROK mounted on it. I also used a bolt instead of a pin to secure it from the side to side movement because she is heavy. I like the locking latch mod that you did. Thanks for the tip. Great video

This is an older video, but have the newer versions of this hitchgate addressed this? There seems to be people who have to resort to a lot of fixes after purchase that really should be addressed. The complaints are extremely consistent on these.

Great video! How do you get the fender washer inside of the tube when the hitch receiver is in there? Can you make a video of that part of your Mod? Thanks!!

I have one of the older offset models before they had some internal corporate issues and before the price almost doubled. In any case what I don't like about the model I have is the lack of a way to lock the swing arm open. If you are on an off camber road you that leans down to the driver side, you will need to figure out a way to hold it open. Another thing I don't like is the fact that someone can steal the whole tire and swing arm by unbolting the hinge bolt and pulling the pin. Be nice if they had some sort of lock nut and a way to lock the pin. I like the locking mechanism you added to reinforce the pin to hold it closed. Very nice solution and I think I'll do something similar. I also like how you used a nut and bolt instead of a hitch pin. Can you show the other side? I am trying to visualize how it is applying pressure to pull the hitch tongue to the side like you mentioned. Would also love to see how you got the Rotopax fuel pods attached.
Thanks for the vid and great looking rig!

There is a lock pin to hold it open. And I wouldn't worry about somebody stealing it. If they're going around with tools stealing stuff, they'd probably go after your winch, off road lights, roof racks, etc, before taking a half-tire carrier arm.

@@jonnynoll1153 Thanks for the comment. I wish I did have a lock pin to hold the swingarm open. Not sure if I had any influence but I did have some correspondence with them in the past I suggested some things they could do to improve the design. Like I mentioned, I have one of their original models that did not have some of the improvements that the newer models have, one of them being the hold open locking pin for the swingarm

Well done video. I have a similar set up as you with a four wheel camper on my pickup. It extends about 3-4" past my bumper though. Does your camper? Did you do any extension for the hitchgate to accommodate for that? How much clearance is there between the spare tire and camper? Thanks

I just got mine, had to change a few things, welded the rear tire bolts in place which they should do automatically, the rotopax parts are a nightmare, welded all those because they never tightened up enough, I HATE it, for the money they could do a better job with this thing.

Would a bungee strap do it? Or ratchet strap? Granted it wouldn’t be as convenient but it’s fast and cheap :) Was that the solo xl? Still VERY confused by the different models. Their website sucks!!! Example: Full-size Chevy crew cab with 35” tires. Am I correct in assuming that ONLY the solo XL will work, as they recommend? But that means I lose the high clearance option?? I would think clearance is a bigger issue for people who do serious 4 wheeling and larger tires would indicate that so why not have the high clearance options for the solo XL?
I hate when they say things like “we recommend”??? It either works or it doesn’t!!!

This one is the Hitchgate Offset. It would work fine on your vehicle. No reason why it wouldn't work on any vehicle. This one also claims to have the largest tire size capacity.

Super nice set up and fix for the Hitchgate. I've been looking at these for a while now, which landed me here. Hopefully you have another way to get out of that camper. It would stink if somehow (angry camper, bear, or the wind) that hitch gate got locked with you inside. Not trying to be a negative nelly, or know it all, LOL. That was just the first thing I thought of when I saw that tire up against your camper door.
