I'm sorry that we haven't been posting recently, it's been a bit of a roller coaster. To be completely honest, we are still feeling the after-effects of lockdown! In this week's video, I talk very openly about my mental health and the things I'm doing to manage my anxieties.

I feel the same way! So much going on Day to day and putting my son first has left me and and my feelings on the back burner. It’s hard because you want to be strong for your kiddos but we are people too. Also I think friends and family try to be encouraging but unless they are living it they truly don’t get what you are going through. Anyway nice video def help me to see !

I can completely understand the emotions you mentioned. While I too have accepted my sons' Autism diagnosis but I stuffed my emotions with the mindset of strong strong strong and it drowned me.. I even became upset with my own family who rather than say "How can I help?", they would instead answer with "Oh you are strong get it together" and all I wanted was my feelings to be validated. I also joined support groups for women, self care, and mental health. My biggest hurdle is that although it has been years, my son's father still cannot accept the diagnosis. Thank you for this video!

So true you just want validation that it’s ok to feel this way. We don’t want to stay there but it’s ok to say this is hard x

Perfect timing! I am in bed literally crying feeling sad down coz I have been trying to stay positive for my kid family etc but at times we get stuck by so many situations like a little kid of my friends asking me why isn’t he talking to me? I am constantly tired of making my son respond to friends, their kids, instructors. I feel like a failure, so much guilt for feeling this way, so painful to see our precious little ones go through their happy childhood with so many things running around them…sorry to vent out like this…it’s an emotional day…
Thanks for being open honest, it helps. You are great and inspiring!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again it is so nice to relate to other mums in the same position. Now lockdown is easing I’m starting to make friends with other mums in a similar situation but in all honesty sometimes the days are draining and even the demands of friendship are too much, so it’s nice to come here. We are just at the beginning of our journey but I adore my children so I’m trying to learn as much as I can and be the best I can and yes sometimes the pressure is quite overwhelming. This video has made me realise I do have to look after myself as well as them and that will benefit all of us.

Thank you for posting this video, it came up on my recommended. I have been fighting on whether or not to share a video I just recorded with something similar to this 🥴 I’m new on here and was a little apprehensive about being so vulnerable but this was confirmation for me. Blessings on your mental health journey and thank you for sharing! 💕

It’s lovely to see you back it’s been very tough our end as well, you deserve to look after yourself it’s so important because you can’t take care of Dylan and your other children to your best ability if your not looking after your mental health!

    Your videos really help.
My 5 years has autism - after many struggles whit the doctors. He has many autism signs (and still can´t speak at 5y) but I was told "well he is a bit active, no more and he is like that cause he was in an unhealthy family" (Like he learned a bit to speak after I got divorced from my husband) even after my son zoned out in front of her and even did fall of from his seat. After that I got to another doctor and was told, that he clearly has autism but to many signs so that he doesnt fit clearly in a scheme. Now I´m whit my son in an autism therapy and it helps a bit. I´m lucky, that I live in a 4-generation-household and everyone helps me whit him.
my only fear is, that my youngest (20 months) will be like him (still doesnt speak, his head flys everywhere and he zones out sometimes). Hopefully its nothing...
but I wnated to say is thank you for your videos. it helps me and my family to understand him much more.

Hey Tara. Talking about parents mental health lol. I told you my autistic baby is about to turn 3 and my newborn is 3weeks 1/2… and I wanted to ask you. I just know he might be autistic too… he’s not looking at me at all, avoids eye contact at any cost … however he also seems to be in big pain (Colics, gas, reflux etc) and he’s terribly tormented so of course could be less social but my gut feeling is telling me he is autistic. Were you also worried about that? 😱
