- In Japan, children bring bento boxes to school with them for lunch, and Tomomi Maruo has a knack for making these lunches way more fun. As a food artist, she can take up to an hour each day creating entirely edible characters for these special bento boxes called charaben. Her talent for crafting these intricate charaben has prompted her to teach small classes to others eager to master the skill.

Wow!!! The amount of time, effort and work that goes into making these is incredible. I would feel bad eating them because they're so cute that I just couldn't eat them. The price of them has to be expensive too because of how much work goes into making them. This is so freaking adorable. There's a girl named Emmymadeinjapan that made a video of her going into detail if her making these for her two sons and they are too cute.

In the U.S, moms rely on the crap served in the school lunch program. If they pack the kid's lunch, it certainly doesn't look like this. They might make a sandwich, other than that, it's Lunchables, hot Cheetos, a Ding Dong or some candy. Anything that can be thrown together in 30 seconds, loaded with salt and sugar with little nutritional value. I've worked there and seen it.
Man, I never appreciated what she made for me until middle-school. I never eat, for unrelated reasons, but only now do I notice how unique and crucial this is now-a-day.
I mean, a lot of parents don't have time to spend an hour making lunches for their kids. They should be able to rely on the public school system to provide healthy lunches

@@arandomfox9009 No, the closest I've ever seen was a cookie or a small piece of cake, and candy has been removed from vending machines in schools. But if a mother packs her kid's lunch, they often include some candy or cookies.

I always thought you need to have a good garnish to make the food more palatable but now, this is even better. Kids who are picky with food would want to eat if you create characters out of vegetables and dishes they usually would avoid. Very creative indeed. Wow.
