Fewer than a thousand people worldwide have viewed this??!! Mike is a pioneer of cinema - he should be monumentally famous for his effort and tenacity let alone his extraordinary originality and wit. Green is Great.
KZSU Stanford radio played the last part of the music on the radio today. What a pleasant surprise. “Baroque Hoedown“. It was extra nice to find this video. I remember this was a sensation when it was on TV.
While a teen, in the 80s, i met him at my dad's alternative film theatre in Omaha. He left the highest impression on me and has influenced the character of my work and life tremendously.
Until I saw this version, I had always believed that THE COLLECTOR and MOUSE MANIA were two different films. Seeing the (for me) new footage linking them together was a treat. Thank you.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the puzzle shot! Jittlov's genius is chucking in shots like that and never hanging on them. There's always a next to get to, regardless of how much work went into whatever is on screen.
I saw the mouse car driving down the hill and immediately went "oh, that's where it's from!" Specifically about his flashback in WoSaT. Also, my gramma had that Mickey lamp-phone, and now it's currently sitting on my dining room table because I don't have anywhere to put it.
Thank you for posting this! This short was one of the most magical things I had ever seen in my life in '78 (as a five year old tyke). Almost forty years later and I still think it's amazing!
This - or rather, the "Mouse Mania" portion of the short - was also seen as a bonus feature on the Walt Disney Treasures DVD set "Mickey Mouse in Living Color - Volume 2". I could be wrong, but Leonard Maltin said in his introduction for the short that the special of which the short came from only had one airing. Clips of it were also seen as bumpers on the "D-TV" show on Disney Channel.
These shorts are incredible but at 2:40 when Mike goes to the company psychiatrist the special effects go off the rail and enter a whole new level. Everything is hand done LIVE ACTION stop motion with light effects predating Peter Gabriel’s Sledge Hammer by close to a decade. It boggles the mind how long this 1 minute section of video took to make with no computers. Just a guy sitting and cutting frame after frame with a manual film editor.
ALurkingGrue Ah! Thank you so much! I was sure MJ had secreted an encrytped massage. I'd have spent all the Christamas holidays trying substitution codes.
At the time, the ONLY name allowed on a Disney film was Walt's. Mike put in Christopher Barczak Cameraman (written on the rolling drum) and A.D. (assistant director) Deven Chereghino in such a way that Disney couldn't take it out without mangling the music.
Thumbs up if you came here looking up Mike Jittlov after watching the movie Wizard of Space and Time 😊

Mike Jitlov is a very underrated talent man.
Mike Jittlov must have been a HUUUUUUGE classic Disney fan, wasn't he?
A very original and inventive filmmaker. Ran into him a few times many years ago. He would produce the tiniest autograph you ever saw.

Come and play with us, Mike. Come and play with us. Forever and ever and ever...

The sheer present day dollar value of some of these collectibles is staggering.
Been looking for Mike's AMAZING work for years! Thanks for posting!

Jittlov is a lunatic. My favorite lunatic.~
Simply amazing! Jittlov is a genius!
I remember when this did/didn’t air on television. The network broke in for a Breaking News report that Poland was now under martial law.
I got to see his work on the original 16 mm prints with him doing commentary at various Balticons...
Another Balticon comment. All this must
have happened before me.
it was epic, at least you get to see his work here! @@ericdietz1795

The mouse mania one should have been a commercial for Disneyland/WDW :D
anyone else reminded of the scene in pee wee's big adventure?

I lv mickey too...but damn...
I've been looking for this for years!
Strangely, a SNOOPY figurine appears on 2:01 in one of the Mickey Mouse wall pockets.
Strange
Amazing collection of disney stuff.

FYI He also did the dark ghosts in the movie "Ghost."
He did a wonderful job, because the shadow ghosts terrified me!
I'm getting the feeling this guy might be a fan of Mickey mouse
YES! Absolutely loving your Jittlov uploads! Please tell me there's more on the way?
Yes as I'm digging though our collection of videos at his house found a few more things I'm trying to clean up. :)

Nice!
I remember seeing this damn thing a long time ago and could not figure out what it was. I just remember the little Mickey Mouse zipping around.
That's a ton of freaking Disney merchandise
Looks like he was exiting Disney's old Los Feliz house.
Mike is mickey
Actually this section is on DTV.

Mike and his briefcase automobiles. What's up with that?
It made a reappearance in Jittlov's feature film, "The Wizard of Speed and Time".
Credited as the 35 MPH briefcase and I believe it.
You might...be eaten by...a gruel!!!
Does anyone know what the piece of music used for the first half of this is called? I've tried SoundHound and Shazam with no luck!
Even the copyright tagging stuff of youtube doesn't identify it.
The first little bit is from Benny Goodman's "Caravan", but then it strays into something I'm not familiar with!
It is just as Jacques Tati had had sex with Kenneth Anger. Amazing!

Incidentally, what is the significance of the lettering at 4:03?
That was the Assistant Director Deven Chierighino
www.imdb.com/name/nm0157328/
He was the guy that would hit the shutter button and yell "Got it!"

Wow! We are probably distant relatives!
Mike Jittlov's "The Wizard of Speed and Time" has brought me here. What a gift he has?

Who is the guy in this?
Ummm, Mike Jittlov.

This music kinda sounds like the Main Street Electrical parade but with a twist.
The Main Street Electrical Parade musical theme was based on a piece named Baroque Hoedown en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baroque_Hoedown
I think having that much Mickey Mouse stuff in my house would make me vomit
