Alchemy Quantico HiCap Super Biased Review: a double stack 1911 that looks as good as a singlestack

- First off…. I had no idea my collar was all messed up, I am not making a fashion statement (nor should anyone look to me for fashion advice). Secondly, yes this is my 3rd super duper biased “review” of a Cabot or Alchemy Custom Weaponry pistol… and it’s because I looooove this gun. The Quantico HiCap is a doublestack version of the Quantico that I begged and pleaded with Rob to start offering and it’s now available for order. Annnnnnd you can get it with a RED DOT using the Cabot/ACW Red dot mount.
That’s it, I can die happy now.
Products I'll make $$ from:
Sly Tactical Slings: They are 100% made in the USA and the adjustment is so silky smooth and has ZERO binding... plus the Class 1 nylon will not chafe your sensitive neck. I have them IN STOCK on my website at www.defconcrea... or you can use code DEFCON at www.slytactica... for the same pricing but get whatever you want
Cabot and Alchemy..... I work for them so if you want a badass 1911 go get one
Type A: I have a few orders in so you can hit me up to see what's coming
Thanks a LOT for your biased review 🙄 now I ACTUALLY have to go and order one! It being a double stack is what got me... now I have NO reason to deny myself one. This thing is just too damn beautiful
I am the most biased person on the Internet… and I agree with you 100%
Beautiful!
You do great honest bias reviews!
I am the bestest most biased reviewer around lol
Awesome review. What a gun! I am really spinning in circles right now. I sold some stuff, and now have enough money to buy a really nice 2011 to use for my EDC. I started off looking at the Staccato C2 DPO. Then I thought for this much money, maybe I would be better off spending a bit more and getting a Tri-11 commander. But after the RMR cut and the badass cerakote finish, I'm looking at almost $4K. So I thought, "For this much money, maybe I should look at the Nighthawk TRS Commander. But now... THIS FREAK'n GUN!!!! If it came in a Commander length, I would have already placed my order. But crap, I carried a full sized 1911 for years and I *really* want a smaller carry gun.
Yeah... there is a lot to choose from for sure! I really don’t mind carrying full size but sometimes it’s a little uncomfortable
As a Texan, it hurts me to say this, but Triarc Systems' guns aren't what they used to be. Hopefully that's just due to growing pains, and they will improve their QC and customer service. While not as flashy as the Triarc Systems' guns, I think the Staccato guns are superior tools.
Stay away from Triarc, Nighthawk TRS Comp or check out Chambers Custom but you are going to have to wait for that one.
A flat black trigger like the one in the Nero and have Darkside Precision stipple the grip and it's all you need.
Glad to see them get into the 2011 game. I see their 1911s always come highly recommended but I'm done with single stack guns and I thought the only custom/semi-custom doing them was Nighthawk and that's where I put both of my orders. Nothing wrong with my Staccato Ps/XL/XC but I wanted some one-of-a-kind customs.
I get it! All great guns!
Nighthawk is my favorite 1911/2011 builder. I will say i shot the xc and it was pretty amazing
@@davehart7943How about 2011ish?
@@davehart7943 At this point, it's like arguing with and correcting people for calling tissue "Kleenex."
Language changes and evolves. Many of the words you're using today would be considered WRONG by someone who is long dead. Everyone know what's being talked about when the term "2011" is used.
If YOU'RE not affiliated with Staccato or their legal department, stop making demands.
Does this come in 45? Website doesn’t say what caliber it’s in
How much additional girth does the double stack add to the frame -- or is the additional room made more from the inner dimensions of the magwell?
Double stack grips are about .75” in additional “girth”
7:27 We’re on the same page 📄 with 2011 aesthetics.
I can appreciate a round trigger guard ,im sure a double or under cut can be done too. :)
@@stephaniecepeda1097 It’s quite attractive isn’t it. Especially coming from alchemy .🔥👌🏼
My dream barbecue piece is a PHAT S&W 1006.
You sir, have excellent taste.
I'm a huge fan of the S&W 645/745/4506/1006.
Best looking 2011 to date. A metal trigger/grip module away from perfection.
Yeah the metal triggers all look “modern” or like the nighthawks... and same for metal grips.... honestly I like the weight savings of the polymer grip
I have an anti-plastic bias. lol
I do too... but after shooting some steel and aluminum grip 2011’s, I prefer polymer on my double stacks.

Rob makes awesome 1911’s .
True true
Seriously going to buy one of these, what is the width at the grips in inches..?
Thank you for your video and time.
The temple index was hilarious
I enjoyed it throughly
Even though you are biased, how’s this compared to the Staccatos? I have a Staccato XC and looking at The P duo, but this Quantico Hi Cap looks awesome
I have a Staccato P, and I like it. But the hand fitting and finish on the ACW makes it a lil more special to me
I Talked to Nick on the phone the other day about this gun and I will be placing my order shortly!
Hey Kevin!
Who makes your mags and what do they sell for?
Put Full Dust cover on it looks way better please
What kind of mag catch are you using?
I thought you worked for Cabot? Is alchemy part of Cabot? Anyway beautiful gun. Thanks for sharing
Yep, Cabot owns alchemy
@@defconcreative thanks for clearing that up for me. I think I was in your neck of the woods earlier this week. I watched the Texas Rangers play the Toronto Blue Jays Monday and Tuesday. Had a great time. Unfortunately had to come back home. Regards
Yeah I am north of Dallas! It’s a great place to be!
If using the slide release damages the gun then how will it hold up under fire?? Not sure the reasoning here. Genuine question
There’s no brass slowing the slide down.... over time it can hurt The sear. The lower lugs. The slide stop. But, more the sear. The impact causes the sear nose to bounce against the hammer hooks. Doing it excessively can screw up a once good feeling trigger.all per Rob Schauland
I would disagree para ordnance pioneered the term "hi-cap" before STI even existed.
Can you ship one of these to the Lock N Load Radio 1 UA-cam channel, so he can review it? He does an excellent job of reviewing guns.
Well considering this is the only one in existence and ACW only builds 30 guns per month right now...it’ll be a while before we can do that 😂
@@defconcreative , Oh, wow! I'm sorry, I didn't realize that. I went to Alchemy Custom Weaponry's website while I was watching your video, and saw it was available for order. I thought one might be available for the gun media. The man at Lock N Load 1 Radio has great video presentation talent, and he is also great at marketing and promotion. I thought it would help this awesome gun get the attention it deserves.
@@traeucity6087I dont think that's a good idea because of the love he has for his Chambers custom 2019 which this resembles a lot.
@@awokeone7997 lock and load also does staccato and Nighthawk and does a fair job on reviewing the guns on their merits.
I second this idea of sending him some ACW's!
The title to this “Super Biased review “ 😂💀😂💀😂
Can we get this with vertical serrations?
That would be very cool but not yet…. 😬😬😬
is this grip different dimensionally than the original STI double diamond grip?
It’s identical dimensionally
How does the muzzle rise compare to a staccato xc? What mags does it use? Could the grip be replaced?
1. Depends on your grip
2. 2011 mags
3. Yes
@@defconcreative thank you. Few more questions. Which do you prefer, the hicap or prime? Which do you think runs faster?
I honestly like the hicap and prime (elite) the same but for different reasons. And I’d say the “speed” difference is imperceptible but I like the prime elite in 45acp…. They are both classic but in different ways
@@defconcreative thank you.
Does Alchemy offer a LE Discount like Wilson and Nighthawk?
Yes they (we) do
Why no commander size? Id definitely be more interested in a commander.
Current Parts availability…
"We're not supposed to do that" - why are we not supposed to close the slide on an empty chamber with no magazine in the grip?
It’s been explain to me like seven times… But I continually forget it… And ignore it
@@defconcreative I can relate.
honestly I can't see carrying this gun. But for competition I'm intrigued.
Those mad folks actually did it!
#mad-world
Just wait
@@defconcreative What pants and sized shirts do you wear to i’ll carry a government sized 2011 ? Also what holster brand are you carrying. I’m 5’9” tallish I’m not so so fat. Cause man Idk how to carry a gov.Length 2011 during summer .
Nice 🤘🏼 Carry On
Awesome
Great biased review. I’m having a difficult time deciding between this fella and the TRS Commander. I 100% feel like Staccato is well overrated.
They are a good production gun but not the customs they once were but they are still very very good…I just got another Staccato P and sent it for some work to see if I can get myself to really like it as much as my other 2011’s…
3:01 That’s an infinity (tactical thumb safety )
It’s not...it’s an EGW
@@defconcreative I thought it was a svi thumb safety too. I can see why its similar .
@@defconcreative I thought it was , it looked similar and felt I had to be a fan boy about it lol
@@stephaniecepeda1097 They have a feature on that’s almost like it , it’s so if. Either side of that’s extended is lifted that much more off a table and room for your thumb to index and snap the safety off.
The 2011 is very nice but the price tag starts at $3500 and the lead time is 9-11 months. So i need to pay almost/maybe $5000 after everything I want and I have to wait almost a year before I can get it? I will definitely have to say NO WAY!!! If I spend that much money on something, I shouldn’t have to wait that long. The maximum time I will wait for a gun at that price would be maybe 5 minutes. If I want it then I want it right on the spot for that price.
Yeah... that’s not how the high end semi custom market works. They take time and cost money. But there are plenty of production guns that can be bought on the spot!
Then they're not for you, buddy. Go eat at McDonald's.
@@donovanchilton5817 money is not the issue. It’s having to wait almost a year for the gun is the problem. I can buy an atlas for the same price and not have to wait. What’s so special about this one? NOTHING
@@phillip6919851 And you'd be buying a POS race gun with no barrel fit LOL.
@@deank5649 I’m pretty sure the atlas gunworks guns will be able to handle more than this one

Honestly... I have no response... bravo
So this hi cap is in puny 9mm HA HA HA HA. Why not in 45 ?
boomer
no 9mm for me. Will take it in 45 acp
Have fun finding 2011 45 mags
@@defconcreative yea not easy to find, yet like always in a few years 9mm will drop off in popularity and other calibers will increase in demand.
A lot of money but beautiful.
Won’t happen in the future… it happened
All that yakking and no double tapping🙄
Literally happens at 0:20
@@defconcreative lol, apologies my brother. I always skip the first couple minutes of a video because I want to see the action not the yakking.👍🏻
Sorry, but you lost me on the way you just told your customers they have to just deal with a "awesome" gun that's top tier that you have to live with a nasty look and feel of the slide if you remove the optic. Sorry, not all customers like being told wanting their options open is just us being shity.
Sorry I only speak English… Maybe use Google translate
Considering the cost of that thing, my choice will REMAIN an American Made Para-Ordinance 14-45: shoots FANTASTIC, easy shooting, and just simply fits MOST hands which normally have trouble with the size of Double Stack buttstocks!
My premier choice will be to once again find a Springfield Armory V-16 in .45 Super, 6" barrel and is literally the BEST shooting 1911 in existence! 'Point and Click' is the axiom to use with the V-16, rounds simply go where you aim.
Lastly, your lack of Real World Considerations for running an optic with what you desire as 'minimal back up sights': black front sight makes ZERO sense for quick target acquisition, ESPECIALLY in Low Light Conditions!!
WHY am I harping on 'back up sights'? GLASS BREAKS, WEAPONS are DROPPED, FECAL MATTER OCCURS!
Bottom line, Optics can FAIL!
WHEN they do, for whatever reasons, unless you have USEABLE back up sights, the Bad Guys THEN have the advantage, so hopefully you've already picked out your Pine Box.
Wake up for a bit will you and STOP wearing the Rose Colored 'perfect world' Panglossian goggles!

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! I’m reviewing a RIA 1911 A2 10mm soon.... 😬😬
When the Canadian company, Para Ordnance moved operations to the USA, they dropped the name, Para Ordnance, and became Para USA. Other than them both being guns, there is no comparison between the firearms produced by Alchemy Arms and those produced by Para at any time.
@@traeucity6087
Yes there is: PRICE!!!!!!
I bought my Para 14-45 for about $600, tell me Alchemy can match THAT price?
Simply put, there is WAY TOO MUCH MARGIN in MOST Gun companies' pricing, especially these days, and given the Real World Skill Levels of MOST shooters, a $700 Ruger 1911 will shoot just as accurately within the ability of most folks, as the $2k-$4k 1911's/2011's.
Same with the Real World Fact that MOST 'off the shelf' bolt action rifles will shoot MORE ACCURATELY than the skill levels (abilities) of MOST shooters!
The bottom line is that most of the people spending the big time jingle to buy STI, Wilson, Alchemy, and the other High End gun companys, CANNOT utilize the accuracy traits inherent in those weapons: the people shooting them simply are NOT talented enough to get it done.
A HANDFUL of people DO possess the talent and skills sets to utilize what those pistols/rifles/shotguns are capable of providing, but JUST a handful comparatively speaking.
Most people buying the High End weapons are WASTING their money!
Simply put, it's an EGO THING: looky here what I own!!
I can't spend that kind of jingle in the first place, and wouldn't if I could: I'd rather spend the 'extra' jingle on a good semi-auto shotgun (Moss 930, JTS, or even the Beretta 1301), AMMO, or a quality AK spiffed up a bit.
The people who'll get pissed off at my comment are those folks who do not like real world facts, those with EGOS, and the employees of Alchemy, STI, et al.
Oh well, too bad.
Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY
🙄 if we're gonna reach for the stars like you're doing, iron sights can fail as well.
