Though, polygonal models are more popular and cheaper to run back then so it's more popular than voxel based models

The worst thing ever said in that segment of Minecraft Live is when they said "we're listening to your input on making the minecraft movie better" like just start from scratch and pay some animators, no one asked for a real life minecraft movie. As I suggested in my Notch video, if they wanted to blend real life and animation, the awkward comedy approach probably should have been the best option as the stigma and culture around the game could have easily been covered. That was what the movie was likely set to be with Steve Carell being cast as a main character (as the previous director confirmed). Too bad it turned into this.
