Andrew is the definition of him being a client and barber/stylist at the same time. He talked a lot but it all make sense. He may not be a precision cutter( he admit it ) but he can give a precise consultation.
This is soooo true!! I cut my hair short a few years ago and then moved away from the friends who were my stylist. I realized that I had no idea how to convey what I wanted and always ended up with a combover with a hard part. I then realized it was also in part because I was going to a trendy place that kind of just didn’t listen. Took a little bit to find the right barber/stylist that just listened and was comfortable to talk to.
I'm a barber -- I watched this because over the past while I've been making my services more personalized to my clientele. so watching this helps me to figure out the right questions to ask & things to look for, thanks a lot Andrew!!!
Man, this is everything right now! I just started barber school and to be able to start thinking about hair like this at the beginning is so valuable. Thanks so much for making this content! I’m here for all of it! 🙌🏼
Man I really wish I could find a barber like you 😭 I live in Boston and go to the absolute cheapest barber I can find which is $30 a cut. He's a great guy, but the cut is never consistent, it always looks different, and he can't really get the cut right no matter how much I explain what I want or how many pictures I show him. I also don't know much about this stuff so I don't even know if my hair is capable of the hairstyles I find cool, I just wish I could find someone who'd take the time to analyze my hair and face features and help me find a cut that looks right on me. But I can't afford to go to every barber shop in Boston and pay $100+ for the fancy ones until I find one I like... Crazy how hard this stuff can be when it's such a crucial aspect of your appearance!
How do you feel about thinning shears on longer hair? I feel like it is a short term solution for a week rather than a longer lasting one. Is there a better technique than thinning shears?
So many shit barbers out there. Every one I go to I say "What do you think would suit me?" as a test. They all say "Just tell me how much to cut off and I'll do it." And then I never go back. Do I have to spend £80 on a haircut to get competence?
Andrew, you should be a teacher at college & salons. I hang on to your every word.

This needs millions of views. Commenting for algorithm purposes. Great video as always.

As a musician, I love the musician analogy you made. It makes complete sense and I love it 😂

This is extremely informative and concise! This is also why I really dislike those haircut “diagrams” that show what guard numbers go where.
That's fascinating, Andrew! Honestly, these are some of the most helpful tips I've ever heard and I'll definitely use these for my next haircut :)
Some excellent analogies here.. enjoyed the video mate, cheers!
I enjoy how well you explain any topic in the hairstylist world so well. Thank you for that.
Thank you!
By God, this was helpful
You look exactly like Jeff Tweedy in the thumbnail for this video.
Thank you Andrew!
Extremely helpful video! Well done! I thought the music anology was really good. Perhaps it helps that I work with music.
Very helpful thank you!
So amazing!!! keep it up!
As a musician your analogy makes perfect sense!
I hopefully will be as good as you at cutting hair

17:07 murder mystery 😂😂
The title doesn’t demand a 20 min answer
Sorry about that. This was an older video, I was pretty new to doing these kinds of talks, not very streamlined or polished yet.
What if you have curly hair??????
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
