Hello Andrew! You don’t know me and I don’t know you but I would like to thank you for your professionalism in your field. I’m a beginner barber almost done with school and your videos have helped me so much. I want to be the best barber I can be and not just do a haircut but really know how to give a person a haircut that will suit them and make them feel like a million bucks walking out of my chair. Feel like all I see now in the barber industry is fades and tapers but it seems nobody truly knows how to cut hair if you know what I mean. All I’m saying is, I can tell you take pride in your work and I aspire to be as good of a hair cutter as you are one day !
Hey andrew. @wolfthebarber here, when I first started learning how to do hair I took a local barber class and the guy said to avoid using clips because it will make a man feel less of a man. Then you said something about a month later about how you still use them and just don’t use a pink one I made a joke about it. That day I pulled my clips right back out and started using them and have use them since stupidest thing that I ever thought was a man would actually care if he had a clip in his hair. No body’s cares (we’ll kids do) but it’s tool. Use it.
Thank you Andrew for your time doing this video. I enjoy watching and re-learn like i didnt know how to part. Need this “back to basic” kinda stuff to refresh our head.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does someone know a trick to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
@Thatcher Amari Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I am the guy you are talking about at the beginning of your video. Went to barber school with only black instructors so I basically had to teach myself straight hair cutting. With that out of the way I have looked to you and your videos more times than not to learn and further my ability. I know how to part hair, but my question to you is why are you selecting the location to section? I appreciate the how to, but would really appreciate the why. I know we section to travel with the guide but why do you select a specific part to lead toward the end result?
There’s two sort of simple answers- first is that I sort of section the hair based on how I was taught per cut, like in the case of a graduated bob I kind of go through repeating the steps like monkey see monkey do. But the second is simply to pull hair out of your way that you’re not working with yet. For 90% of men’s cuts I clip the top up to cut the sides, for grad bobs the monkey see monkey do approach is actually clipping long hair in front out of the way while I work at the back. Some people use crazy technical sectioning but for me it’s just breaking the cut into smaller areas
andrewdoeshair maybe I am just over thinking it. I see videos with the monkey see approach, and they step by step you through the haircut by the numbers. Saying part here and cut then part here and cut, but that to me creates a cookie cutter haircut. What worked for the guy in the video may not work for the client sitting in my chair. His hair may not move the same way or ideally part in sections that way. How do I know where exactly to part the hair and when, when we are talking about the over all cut, not just finding a natural part for a contour.
@@PMBarbers You already gave the answer yourself. When parting the hair, keep those 'conditions' in mind. Look at what shape you want to create and where the hair wants to move, length, density,... and use those factors to make your haircut more simple, more clear and more effective For example if the client has a negative reacting crown which wants to stick up, but the back and sides need to be graduated. Then section your crown out of the way first so you make sure you keep the length there and then afterwards you can come to that area and see if there's still work to do.
Too add on to your "basic knowledge" I never realized how much that sectioning meant to clients. I personally thought it was just for us barbers/ stylists to work cleaner n more organized. I remember newer clients coming in and mentioning that they like the way I section hair. Totally went over my head because I thought that's just what we needed to know by default. What I found was where those clients were getting their hair done previously they said they would never get their hair parted or sectioned. Interesting. Anyways, miss you Kuya! Call me sometime soon busy butt. Don't make me make a hair vid n name drop you 😉😁🍻 Even tho I already dedicated a beatbox for you on the overly blunt podcast (7:57) lol peep it on my channel sucka ❤️

Thank you so much for the kind words!
What a great video that finally explain parting. Can you do a video about different parts of sectioning? That would really help
Omg! You are genius! I’ve been doing hair close to 20 years and I’ve never known so much of this! Thank you,
Fantastic one, happy that i found your channel.

In school a client said he didn’t like the clips for probably thee reason the barber asked you about emasculating them… omg … I said “I need them “
