Another great overall video review. I remember when the OG Jumpman Pro released and I was confused on which model it was. Ended up purchasing all the colorways of the Jumpman pro which I ended up selling. As for that Kicks magazine, man that brings back memories. I believe I still have that copy.
I bought a pair of these shoes back in 1997. One of my favorite shoes to ball in back then. I still remember your old video buying a used pair of this shoe. It's a shame they didn't do this retro justice.
I bought mine also in 97... The glue came off the bottom and I think I wore them twice!! Glue them back with gorilla glue and now gonna wear the hell out of them!! 🤣
Many thanks for that quick tour of that grail SLAM issue. Have searched and searched for a reliable digital version or a non crazy expensive physical copy. The non Jordan primeness of the Jumpman always soured me on these even though they look great but the review has me seriously rethinking whether I want to buy
I had the og Jumpman Pros in Black/White and Gold and the rear logo was a jewel logo and not stitched in at all. Omg they are still one of the best shoes i ever had and played in. I wish Jordan Brand would do their kicks justice when they retro them!!
I had these in the black/blue colorway when I was 7. They were my first pair of Jordans. My brother had the flu game 12s and I remember liking how they had design similarities.
Completely agree we need a re-release of the pippen 2 in only original colorways the last eggplants were straight trash. Duncan's foams definitely could use a comeback. If they do you'll get all the credit!
Wait so do the other colorway retros have a heel zoom air then or no? Are they all just the dual density foam? Guess that’s why we have Move insoles if so 😂 that phylon can go in the trash
@@WearTesters word thanks a lot for confirming….swear ya’ll the best- answering questions too! 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Would LOVE to see a review on those J1 low Vintage UNC/Grey “Tokyo 96” pair that not enough folks are talking about! They only released overseas a few places for some reason but they’re gorgeous- favorite pick up in a while! Would love to see what Chris thinks!
I feel your pain my dude!! Love that the shoes are back….they are one of my favorites but the downgrade in tech is ridiculous especially if you’re charging more for the product. It’s not like they can’t source the components….they still retro the 12s. Even if they don’t use the carbon fiber plate…at least have the full length zoom! ALSO…YES…please do the PIPPEN 2s….it’s still a shoe i love and don’t own! ❤🤓💯🙏🏽
The product might not be as great as expected but seeing that Kicks mag certainly was, I love seeing that kind of stuff as it gives you a sense of context. Those Tim Duncan foams look awesome btw, anything you call a tank is my cup of tea!
Awesome review as always. One of the reasons why I always wait for your review before deciding if I should check the pair out in person or just pass on a pair.
You know, many people do this, in that they say something cost "only $130" then instead of whatever now, however $130 back then is probably more than paying $220 now
Man I just seen a pair of Nikes I had when I was in high school in that magazine you showed. I loved them they were so comfortable. The Nike Air Force lite. Same beige color as in that mag. Loved those shoes.
Thank you for knowledge when it comes sneakers. You helped me make the right choices, when it comes to buying or passing .I look your information on sneakers.
Didn’t know that they release this colorway back in the day. I had one of these because all the Jordan 12s black/white at the time were sold out. Also, cool that you kept that magazine. I still have one where they featured the 2001 nba all star weekend and took a pic of everyone’s shoes. That was worth walking to the convenience store and sitting on the bench, dreaming about these shoes.
F YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally someone mentioned the T BUGS!!!!! That is #1 on my list of shoes I wish they would retro. I had them in middle school and would give anything for a pair to wear.
Got these when I was a college sophomore in 96/97…this exact colorway and I LOVED them! Sad to see them cheap out on the bring back. The original was a seriously good shoe, on par with the 12s
I always loved this shoe. I had an American friend that would buy every single Jordan upon release, and one day we went to Norwich and he scooped these up in the black/white/gold and I believe I bought the Jason Kidd Zoom Flight 5. Both awesome shoe's. Glad these Pro's have been retroed, not sure I'd play ball in them, however the White/Cherrywood Reds do look really nice.
was. Ended up purchasing all the colorways of the Jumpman pro which I ended up selling. As for that Kicks magazine, man that brings back memories. I belie
I wanted these. I wanted these so bad. But when I felt them in hand, I couldn’t. Justify paying that amount of money for what felt like a cheap imitation of what a great shoe it used to be 😭
Got these in sept 2009 at NikeTown NYC, did Nike ID in Pacers colors. All navy with yellow. They gave me a “credit card” type presentation card with the my shoe on it.
I owned the black white gold pair. The jewel on the back heel was gold inside if i recall the top lace with the metal laceholes breakoff from shoe as you wear for ball. Same problem happens with jordan 12s to this day unfortunately. Jordan 19s was kinda same problem too
The original one, and the Black/Blue color way were some of the first Jordan/Jumpman brand shoes I bought with my own money. The way I understood what the Jumpman Pro was, back when they released, was that these were meant for other players. And, It was a separation in branding from Jordan. I don’t know if PEs were a thing back then, but I would assume that the numbered Jordan’s were for Jordan himself, and teams to wear. I’m getting these for nostalgia purposes, and might even try to find a pair of older ones to get donor parts to replace what I don’t like on these. When is the release on these, and are they going to be a general or limited release?
Wow 1st off the air max team zoom still is one of my favorite shoes I ever Hooped in , Nike need a proper retro! The jump man pro I had the white with black suede in 97 they were my outdoor hoop shoes I ran them to ground they light and sturdy on court zoom air was so new and we didn’t understand tech and energy return . Love that shoe Jordan brand puts good stuff in 28-37 and up models it seems , lastly I was 23 at the time jump man pros dropped fresh out of juco in Chicago
Had the black gold ogs. They were my 1st Jordan brand shoes too. Shame to see retros not have top tier og tech given full pricing on a retro. The herringbone was so good. The black gold had the proper og circle jewel on the heel in gold and black. That other non jewel was the 1st retros of them.
I remember the summer, my buddy got a pair of these. I thought they were dope then and I like them now great video as always have a happy memorial day. If you don’t make another video until then quick question do you have a video on the bo Jackson’s the orange and blue.?
I got the remix of those in black, baby blue n white n I love em! I had the OGs, I rock wit the original team Jordans. Alot of the non numbered shoes are pretty fire
I was so hyped to see the white/navy pair release bc that’s the earliest Jordan shoe I can remember seeing as a little kid. But when I saw the retro in person, the quality was so bad that I couldn’t bring myself to get them 😢
I love every time you review these jumpman joints because it always takes me back to my junior year of high school I had the black n royal joints I remember one guy trying to tell me that they weren't the real jordans lol
I had to custom edit these myself to to be happy. Nowhere on the shoe does it say Jordan or Nike or 23 or have the custom nike swoosh logo. I had to add an insole gel inlay to get it feeling right. Got silver lace tags with the jumpman logo on the left and the swoosh on the right. At the back of the shoe i printed out a laser adhesive sticker put the exact font of the 90s 23 and placed the 2 on the left of the Jumpman logo emblem and the 3 on the right. Then and only then did I have a shoe that i felt like i had a partially emblematic nike jordan 23 jumpman. Looks outstanding with the presentation but still missing the words Jordan or Air or Nike.
I always wanted a pair of those There are other non-numbered Jordans that came out in the late 90s and early 2000s I wish would make a comeback as well.
I love those first gen Jordan Brand models, they were so dope. It's a shame that JB keeps giving us knockoffs of their own shoes. Almost every Team Jordan from that era that has been retroed has been made with crappy materials, stripped tech (well, that happened even with the XVs) and some color changes. In the Jumpman Team two they switched the cushion with Zoom in the back and an internal air unit in the forefoot instead of the OGs Zoom in the forefoot and air in the back. I still have some hope that, when or if they retro the Team J from 2000, they do it right.
I doubt it. They know the demand for these is nowhere near the demand for the mainline Jordans and thus the pushback/outrage will be minimal, so there's no real incentive to offer the original premium experience. Unless of course Jordan brand _want_ to push the model as a top item like they're doing currently with the Jordan 2s.
This was the first real “Jordan” i was able to afford on my own and play ball in. One of my favorite non-Jordan numbered line sneakers. Sad that they treated them so cheaply now. crazy too since like you said they were the first Jumpman brand sneakers.
This show reminded me of the Pete Sampras tennis shoes, Air Oscillate. He wanted to play in a Jordan shoe and Tinker told Pete that this was going to be the next Jordan shoe. Just what I read back in the day when I had both shoes, the Jumpman and Air Oscillate.
I didn't get one of these, back in the days. I got the bred Jordan 13s, instead. People were still going crazy over the elevens, so I really got to enjoy playing in the 13s. Definitely had no time for those.
Thank you for the eye opener videos, ty for giving us more options on what to buy or not, i'm always watching your reviews since then and it always helps me a lot! By the way get well soon to your wife, from the tone of her voice i think she has colds,

Your word is golden man. Especially to me, a newbie to the shoe game. Appreciate the lessons.
Pippen II review...Yesssss. Great work everyone. Thank you.
I had both and preferred these over the J12s. Was always partial to lower tops. Great to play in.
Completely agree we need a re-release of the pippen 2 in only original colorways the last eggplants were straight trash. Duncan's foams definitely could use a comeback. If they do you'll get all the credit!
