There’s absolutely nobody like Max Wall these days. 😂. Ridiculously simple act but so very funny. I remember him when I were just a young kid. Thought he was great then and I still do. Saw him at a theatre in Coventry back in the early 1970’s, loved his humour ever since. Thanks for the fun Max RIP
I said exactly that, but in a different way,I I said to all the rotund ladies out there that it is what you look, like in leggjngs, that was his greatest triumph, great comedian
Totally. I'm 55 now. Very confused when about 10. He scared the be jesus out of me but I couldnt understand how he could, at the same time be very funny. Used to watch from behind the sofa. Defo. a touch of the Beckett here.
I only ever think of Max Wall as he was at the end of this sketch - the funny dance...but was aware that, in my youth - early '80s, the style I'd adopted was reminiscent to to the older generation of his style; in my case cut off black levi's, white boot socks and doc martins! The old arm extension joke made me smile though...
How incredibly strange. He looks like something out of a Charles Darwin etching. Max Wall would have gone down a treat at Glastonbury Festival. He was also an incredible tap dancer....a very talented man...can anyone imagine one of today's performers having the self belief to go this weird as a solo act?
True story, A long time ago now, we decided to have lunch out, Maidenhead by the river, nice restaurant overlooking the Thames, and who was sat only a few feet away, Yep, it was him, the man himself , Mr Max Wall. still acting, he was always on stage, even if he was not, but as he says live is a stage... how true.. funny guy....
I used to like his funny walk and funny faces routine the most. Another good comedian, through his pretend to play the piano wrongly, was Les Dawson. I am sure Max was briefly on a Lads Army episode, talking about something, along with Les and other celebrities.
" I wasn't actually born in a trunk ..." Backed Max in the mid. 70's - one of true genius's of humour ... " it wasn't until they actually saw me they put me in a trunk ." Dear dear Max , I hope theres a piano stool in that cosmic theatre up in heaven , thank you for all the laughs you gave ... dh
Unfortunately I don't have any way of changing the speed of the audio. I did my best to align it so that the error was minimied I don't know how this arose. but the original video is forty years old and was transferred to DVD many years back with fairly basic equipment. The original tape is Betamax and I no longer have any way of playing it, so I had to get it off the DVD.
@@MLB9000 Unfortunately, for what reason I don't know, the audio is running at a slightly different speed from the video, so it won't stay in sync. I got it in sync in the middle to try to minimize the problem.
@@RogerWilmut yeah, I burned a movie like that once and by the end it was so out of sync the actors were speaking each other's lines. I'd probably chop it into smaller parts and sync each part separately
John Cleese actually credits him with being the inspiration for the Ministry of Silly Walks I believe..... ..... you also have to remember that he was at his peak in the 30s-40s - entertaining in music halls (Max Wall and his Independent Legs) - until he was effectively blacklisted in the 50s due to his personal life.... ... although I still think he was at his best in Jabberwocky playing King Bruno the Questionable opposite John Le Mesurier
I didn't find this funny whatsoever .absolute cringe....i ddint even smile.. and I'm not even sure why people are laughing .. maybe the audience are kids or something ..its like a drunk you would meet in a pub who thinks he's hilarious but you cant get away from

Katt Williams!
Very funny ❤

Absolutely fantastic!! Max was a surrealistic genius, RIP you amazing comic.
Professor Wallofski was just one persona of this gifted and talented man
I can honestly say this man was a genius. Been on stage with him when I was working in stage management. Amazing memory, fifty or so years later.
Loved your.podcasts still listen so ahead of your time like talking pictures TV ten years early .please upload more wall !
Max Wall a comedy genius! He is the reason I never wear leggings 🤣
I said exactly that, but in a different way,I I said to all the rotund ladies out there that it is what you look, like in leggjngs, that was his greatest triumph, great comedian
I saw him twice in the mid 70s. Still the funniest act I ever saw.
He terrified me when I was a kid😟
Now I find his eccentricity hilarious 🤣
Scared the living shit out of me!!!

One of favourite comedians of all time
Fantastic
Brilliant.

Max Wall was a comic genius 😳
Gawd! He’s a weirdo! Absolutely genius!
Almost Dickensian 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Comedy Legend
pure comic genius
I saw him onstage in Osborne's The Entertainer, which was something I'll never forget.

Ultimate dinner party guest
A very funny and clever entertainer.
The late great max wall
Pity the audio is slightly out of sync
He was very fit
The Wallofski character and Billy Dainty predated Monty Python’s Ministry of Silly Walks.
I’ve got exactly those trousers.
There's a couple of folks in the audience who really get this. Can't fake that laughter
I used to like his funny walk and funny faces routine the most. Another good comedian, through his pretend to play the piano wrongly, was Les Dawson. I am sure Max was briefly on a Lads Army episode, talking about something, along with Les and other celebrities.
Simply genius 👌👏👏👏👏🇬🇧

Pure comic genius.
To all the rotund ladies put there, this is what you tend to look like in leggins. The great Max Wall was trying to tell you something, great comedian
It appears they want pianoforte music of the more classical nature and believe me I'm the lad to let them have it 😂😂😂
No doubt Rik Mayall studied Wall closely.
Unique.
Massively disturbing.
These were really funny
Wit. Humo(u)r. 100 Denier black tights .

Max Walls the name... (followed by badly performed military drum noises)

Classic lol
The Cheeky Chappie....
An impressively physical routine, especially for a guy his age. If only it was funny
Maybe it’s because I saw Monty Python and Victor Borge first that I didn’t find this funny. I must be missing something…
I guess back then the tedious and stuffy classical music performer was more familiar to people, so mocking such types hit harder.

0k.
I'll be honest, I was expecting more. This can only be in the 80's and it is pretty bad

About as amusing as a brain tumour. Max Wall had a couple of great gags but this is just naff. Like a dreadful parody of some 1920s music hall comic.
He wasn't funny at all.
Is he on drugs
Pathetic!
Really dont understand this comedy, didnt snigger once.
