My husband and I drove 5 hrs one way to see them in concert about a month ago on Dec 12, 2021. I’f you ever get close enough to see them pay the price cuz it is so worth it.
The performance speaks for itself…Something you said struck a chord with me…”Exactly the way I like it”…Whatever they do, it’s exactly the way MILLIONS of people like it!!! Beautiful song and a great reaction…Thanks
I listen to this at least a dozen times a day and cry each time. I hear new things every hearing. Kevin and Matt just keep the beat and the bass as a constant. Kirstie is stupendous. You said it all. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
This is definitely Mitch's song. The best contra/counter tenor out there today. I don't know if anyone has noticed that Mitch hits the same notes that was done by Charlotte Church during her rendition of the song. Absolutely beautifully done. Love your reactions and subscribed previously.
Hello Adam. Thank you for this reaction. This is a beautiful video and a stunning rendition of this song - The Prayer. Giving a message of hope for us all. Pentatonix never disappoints. All five of them are masters of their craft - you had said this when reacting to their Amazing Grace video, if memory serves well, and you are so right. They are masters of their craft - individually and collectively. For this song there was skillful and perfect placing of each member in the arrangement. Mitch at the start and throughout owned this song with conviction, vocal clarity, the notes he hits and holds, his runs, his vibratos, his timing and his precision. Scott with his operatic presentation strong and convincing in linguistic detail. Kirstin with her belting power notes. Matt on the consistent bass undertone. Kevin on the strong and well-timed vocal percussion. The rich vocals, the tones, the duets, the call and response, the layering, the harmonizing, building to the crescendo and PTX wall of sound, and then the clarity piercing through again. Superb performance by Pentatonix. Thanks for the reminder that is all voices. A capella at its very best. Pentatonix deserves a Grammy for this.
Glad to hear you back Adam! Love this version of The Prayer, I believe it is the best version that I’ve heard and is so worthy of all the accolades it is receiving. Thanks for your reaction, and I look forward to more.
This was sooo special. A new PTX favorite for me(I have had many). It's hard to imagine anything better from them but I have felt that way before and they outdo themselves. They keep raising the bar. Grammy I hope.
Stunning. Absolutely stunning. Love the Mitch showcase. Still shocks and inspires. And we definitely need more baritone Scott... Italian or not. Kirstie’s power, Matt’s underlying bass, Kevin’s driving percussion.....as much as I loved the original this is my new favorite because, as you said, it’s a cappella. Five singular, spectacular voices versus two (granted superb) voices backed by a full orchestra. Thanks for another great reaction, glad you’re feeling better. Don’t worry about hitting 30K, bet you beat that goal by Thanksgiving (11/25)! Just start posting some PTX Christmas reactions! Please?!?
@@AdamStraughan any of their hundred plus selections are outstanding, but not all of them have video. A few of my favorites are (you might be sorry you asked, but here goes): Oh! Come all ye Faithful; God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen; Deck the Halls; 12 Days of Christmas; You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch and Carol of the Bells, just to mention a few...but seriously, start with their second Grammy award winner “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy” a perfect way to start the season!
Absolutely stunning work from every single member! Grammy #4 is what we just heard! Andre & Celine will be proud! I also enjoy Celine’s duet withJosh Groban! How cool you got to hear it live! THIS is now my favorite. Mitch soaring with chromatic runs & Scott’s strong baritone Italian!
Scott did say earlier this year that they were going to take it up a level, and this new album shows he wasn't kidding. Good to see you back, Adam, and this was another great reaction from you.
When I first watched this video I was in awe after the first two lines of Mitch, when Scott came in my hand was covering my mouth and when they all came together I cried up to the end of this beautiful masterpiece. Thank you for you reaction. Even though I knew you would love it I couldn't wait to watch it. I am glad to hear that you are not ill anymore ❤
Their cover of Queens Bohemian Rhapsody will blow your mind. That’s right, Bohemian Rhapsody, al cappella. Only PTX. If you’re in a Christmas mood, O Come All Ye Faithful. It’s not like you have ever heard that song before, Kevin & Avi are unbelievable.
Glad you are back and mending. I love your reactions and this song was epic. Like you, I agree that the Scott/Mitch duo was fabulous. And the Kirstie/ Mitch duo was just as fabulous. For me , it’s my favorite.
So glad you are feeling better.. This Stunning Song will hopefully help. I Predict Another Grammy!!! 🏆 Mitch Slapped again. Mitch has a one in a million voice. Scott singing Italian is Butter.. Kirsten is Gorgeous & Her voice is so powerful. And Matt & Kevin bring it all together beautifully! I have loved " The Prayer" for many years but this Pentatonix cover is Fantastic & Magical ..
I’m so glad to see you back reacting to PTX and sorry you’ve been ill. It doesn’t matter how often I hear them singing this ( and it’s been a lot!) I never cease to marvel at the talent and artistry these people have. Very thorough reaction.
I love that this is the video/song that brought you back. You’re one of my fav PTX reactors. And yes every face you made listening to this was me at 4:30 am the day it dropped and I still haven’t stopped getting chills over it.
❣️ ***THERE ARE LITERALLY NO WORDS IN MY ENGLISH VOCABULARY, THAT CAN DESCRIBE THIS GROUP!!!*** ❣️ So glad you are feeling better & loved your reaction and commentary~
SO GLAD you are feeling better! Good to have you back with us. Yeah, this is really such a GIFT! This is what Pentatonix does best! Great reaction. It's nice to see someone with a music background really appreciate what Pentatonix does. I look forward to seeing more of your reaction videos!
I'm so very happy to see you reacting to a Pentatonix song again!! I'm hoping that you make a full recovery from your illness. Great reaction again Adam!!
This outdoes the original version with Andrea Bocelli/Celine Dion's version both for production (to be fair, they simply stood and sang) but also for vocals. Five people making as much sound as the orchestra and the singers, but also telling the story. Far more inspiring. I love Andrea Bocelli and have for years, but this version upgraded from the original. Scott is singing in Italian and Mitch is actually translating again like the original. And don’t forget they will do this live on tour. One thing especially good about PTX is they never record anything they can’t do live. This was the first song released on their newest album "Evergreen" for the Christmas tour 2021. This is not really a Christmas song but PTX made it work as one with the set.
Had to come back to see your reaction again. Superb reaction Adam - you captured every essence of the performance perfectly! Please do more PTX. You should react to the live version of The Prayer on iHeart Radio Christmas Special or from their recent tour, many fan videos on line. Just wonderful to hear them do this live. In one of the performances on tour Mitch actually adds in extra vibratos and runs - I know this because I listened to the recorded version every day, several times a day, when it first came out and I know it by heart, so when I heard the live performance I picked up the extra flourishes. Kirstie hit her vibrato exactly. Scott flawless in the Italian. Kevin just sounding like an entire drum set. Matt so warm and deep underneath it. Amazing talent!
Thank you for this reaction Adam, you said what a lot of us are feeling but don't get the chance to say. I love that you're so genuine and gracious with your comments. There have been lots of recommendations and I was looking to see if "Thank you" from last year's Christmas album has been mentioned. I'm happy to watch all the recommendations, but Thank You is a little gem that will tug at your heart strings too. And I'm hoping that coming back to PTX will help you get over your health woes.
I so enjoy your thorough reactions, and am so happy to hear you are feeling better. Hope you hit your goal, because you really are very good at what you are doing.👍👍
So sorry to hear you have been so unwell glad your getting on the mend now and what a perfect song and group to come back with your reaction to them is just out off this world thank you 😁🤗
Adam, thank you for continuing "the journey down the rabbit hole" which is Pentatonix. I agree with your assessment regarding their use of dynamics within their arrangements. The collaboration between themselves and Ben Bram is unique. The way they build to their signature "wall of sound" can be extremely moving.
I love your reaction, and so glad to have you back.......I believe this is another Grammy worthy performance and video....maybe their best yet...........simply amazing, as usual..
Let's see ... Mitch and Kirsten ... Mitch and Scott Mitch and Avi ... I'm sensing a trend. 😁 Looking at your PTX playlist, I think you're missing a must see video. You should really watch their cover of John Lennon's "Imagine." It is perfection. Again.
I love this reaction to this song the best, I am addicted to this song, the duets, the licks, the belts from Kirstie, but mostly, the chords they hold in the climax and finish, the way the harmonies cause my heart to feel squeezed in the most ecstatic way. I have been obsessed off and on with this group for years.
WOW!!! That says it all about this incredibly talented group. They never disappoint and their harmonies, bass and duets were just beyond beautiful. Mitch leading this was absolutely the tight move and his voice always just hits me in the heart. Fantastic reaction, Adam, and am so glad you are feeling better. Try to take it easy and drink plenty of water 💕
It was YOUR reaction to them in this song that finally cemented this song as one of their best for me. I could feel YOUR visceral reactions: holding your head as if it were going to explode, unable to speak, eyes wide, goosebumps, holding your breath...subscribed/notification bell, liked..
Loved your heartfelt "Thank _you_ !!" at the end. This is such an amazing rendition. MItch was lovely, wasn't he? And Scott coming in with that incredible rich tone. The marvellous little duet between Mitch and Kirstin - it was like she was amplifying what he was saying. Kevin's an entire orchestra of percussion - beautiful, subtle cymbal sizzles and amazing tympani fills. And Matt was bone-shakingly deep and heart-throbbing. Props to Ben Bram for another wonderful arrangement.
So nice to have you back. Keep well. Was looking forward to your reaction on this. Fantastic comments from you, all valid. It has to be their best cover ever. Would like to see them get an award for this. My new favourite track / video. Thanks.
I agree that this was beyond gorgeous!!! This is for sure Grammy worthy!!! Great reaction. On one part you just rolled your eyes... Sometimes that is all we can do because what else can we say????
My hope for these 5 very talented, hard-working artists is that they receive the listener support that this performance deserves! I would love to have them address other great inspirational pieces as they continue to advance their expertise in every aspect of Vocal Entertainment!
This is my favorite video of theirs of all time and I've seen them all. I agree with you about Mitch's voice and how nice it was to have him start off the song. I love Scott dearly but it gets repetitive when he starts so many of the songs. I love when they change it up, keep it fresh, and let one of the other members start with Scott soloing later in the song. Also Kirstie has improved the most over the years and considering she was an amazing singer to start with, that's saying a lot. She just keeps getting stronger and stronger. Lastly, I wish they had shown more shots of the group as a whole once they all came to stand together and less closeups of the soloists. I feel like Matt and Kevin contributed so much to this piece and we didn't get to see them nearly enough.
I loved Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli's The Prayer but I don't think the Pentatonix version can be beaten. It is absolutely beautiful. I loved your reaction and I'm glad you are doing better.
Oh my I loved your reaction to this. This should have been up for a Grammy this year or should be up for next years Grammy. It was so absolutely amazing. I can't even imagine listening to any other version of this song now. Have you listened to their version of Carol of the Bell on the Christmas Under the Stars special. It is amazing and Mitch, oh my gosh his breath control was unbelievable.
Mitch and Scott wow!!! Mitch this was definitely your song to sing, and Scott, well what can I say. They all came together to make this one of their best!! Omg loved them
Excellent reaction! This is probably the 5th time I've watched your reaction and this time I had to comment. Their newest song My Heart With You is a song you really need to react/listen to. It is just an a capella song...no instruments in the song at all. It showcases all of them in their singing voices. No beat boxing or bass guitar. It is stunning. I think you would appreciate the simple yet complex haunting sound they have. It is a live version they do in a dark room with one light bulb hanging above them. Just beautiful. Thanks!
He’s a Mitch made in heaven! 😊 Great reaction, sir. That look on your face probably looks the same as mine did when I first listened to this one; a look of “Am I really hearing this?!”. PTX really is a very special group, and yes, they deserve all the credit and accolades that the world has to offer them.
Excellent reaction... a great reactor knows NOT to pause during the important parts... I watch a million reactions... and you are one of the only ones that doesn't pause during the best parts.. you don't interrupt the climaxes of any singers part .. very awesome my dude!
Glad you are feeling better. Please do Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy for another Grammy winner. 12 Days of Christmas showcases how well they work together in multiple genres in a single song. It is a ride.
If I'm right, your last PTX reaction was 7 months ago, glad to see you back Adam. As always i love love how you speak about Pentatonix. Please more PTX reactions..
It is so enjoyable watching you react to music because you can tell it actually matters to you. This was a masterpiece that sent chills down my spine over and over. Gotta Love PTX, they move me. Great pick up about the voices being different but come together and...bam...magic!
So glad you’re on the mend! We laid my cousin to rest this morning; a cousin who has been a sister to me for years. This song has been such a comfort to me, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 💙
So glad you are feeling better. I love to watch your reactions. You feel the music and what's more, you appreciate good music. It fills your whole being. PTX does this so well! Thank you for reacting!
Nobody has a blend like them. I smell another Grammy with this one. Great reaction! I know you’re a Corvyx fan. Could you imagine HIS voice on this one? Whoa.
The sound stuns you somehow blocking it the amazing cinematography. The bass line is perfect. The percussions and other sounds to fill in and the ability of each to harmonize in the background... Again stunning. Oh and before I forget the lead voices are spectacular by themselves but with all of the selfless background work that blends so well it's almost taken for granted they definitely check their egos at the door to make these videos. Do they always use the same cinematography do you know? You almost just need to give them a moment of silence when reviewing.
When they all belt at the crescendo we call it the "Pentatonix Wall of Sound." Nobody does it better.
Yes! And then they let you back down ever so gently :)
It's my favorite "wall" since Imagine ... and might be my new favorite.
My husband and I drove 5 hrs one way to see them in concert about a month ago on Dec 12, 2021. I’f you ever get close enough to see them pay the price cuz it is so worth it.
Grammy bound. There's no justice if they don't win another grammy.
This felt like another Grammy!!!
I've commented on the Mitch/Kirstin blend many times but it's never been so highlighted as it was in this song. This group is just sooo so special.
I loved Mitch's voice showcased in this one. Sweet, sweet, sweet!
I honestly think that we maybe looking at Grammy #4.....It was THAT good and their BEST yet!!
The performance speaks for itself…Something you said struck a chord with me…”Exactly the way I like it”…Whatever they do, it’s exactly the way MILLIONS of people like it!!!
Beautiful song and a great reaction…Thanks

If I'm right, your last PTX reaction was 7 months ago, glad to see you back Adam. As always i love love how you speak about Pentatonix. Please more PTX reactions..
I always find myself holding my breath through this song lol. Just beautiful!!
Great reaction. Thank you. They are amazing. Glad that you are feeling better.
It is so enjoyable watching you react to music because you can tell it actually matters to you. This was a masterpiece that sent chills down my spine over and over. Gotta Love PTX, they move me. Great pick up about the voices being different but come together and...bam...magic!
Absolutely stunning! I count myself lucky to be alive at this point to enjoy the beauty that is PTX.
So glad you’re on the mend! We laid my cousin to rest this morning; a cousin who has been a sister to me for years. This song has been such a comfort to me, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 💙
Condolences. 🙏
So sorry to hear about your loss. May God give peace, strength, and direction for the whole family during the difficult days ahead.
I’m so sorry for your loss Brandon
This is one of my favorite reactions. I have listened to several. I love it when the reactor has knowledge of the group and the song. I will follow.
So glad you are back and doing well. This rendition of the song I feel is the best I've heard. Again good to see you are doing better🥰
I just found your channel and am glad I did. I so enjoyed your reaction to this phenomenal group of angelic singers
Whoa.
Corvyx would SLAY on this!
Scott's baritone could melt butter a mile away, holy moley!!
It is stunning. The older they get the better they get. I am seeing them in concert in less than 2 weeks. So exciting
Amazing!
Absolutely beautiful Adam, I think it's definitely a wonderful song to listen to especially these days. Love all your reactions ❤❤
Great reaction! I love that you didn't cut it to pieces, like so many have done. I agree that this one was a very special performance.
Thank you!
