In a really strange way, that loss (which I saw in person) might have been the best thing that could have happened to them. I love Freeman's message to the team after that loss. It wasn't "Put this behind you and move on." No, it was "Remember how losing felt. Take nothing for granted." Since that loss, Louisville is the only team that has even been competitive against us. Just need to finish the job against USC. When that happens, I can't see them not having a home game in the playoffs.
Great work by the O-line this week for ND. And despite him not having the big home run TDs, Jadarian Price had 2 of the toughest scoring plays of the game. That 2nd TD should have been a loss of yards. But he just kept powering through!. Also I think that was the first game that a team kept Riley Leonard out of the end zone using his own feet.
Army was definitely ready for Leonard inside the 5. But we found other ways to score. The only area that continues to disappoint is the field goal unit.
And don't sleep on Aneyas Williams either. Notre Dame has been "Tight End U" for well over a decade, but there's a case to be made that they're "Running Back U" as well.
@@TheSBleeder Another point on Love, watching the video for a second time, .. on the first TD throw to Faison, Love did a brilliant job of pass blocking to allow that to happen. I was always so frustrated seeing comments on message boards claiming that "failure in pass blocking should not prevent a talented RB from playing." My response was always the same: it is part of the job, and an important part. Love seeing a kid with so much talent also do the dirty work like pass blocking. Love is an exceptional RB. ND is lucky to have him.
Interesting fact about Jadarian Price: he is the great grandson of legendary actor Vincent Price, best know for his appearances in several Edgar Allan Poe film adaptations made by Roger Corman (The Pit and the Pendulum, House of Usher, and others ... and also for providing the voice over in Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video). There is a cool highlight compilation of Jadarian from HS that features the classic "Thriller" song and includes Vincent's voice over.
It's crazy. I know a lot of teams run unbalanced offenses to some extent, but Army's is just outrageous. Their run/pass ratio is something like 87% run / 13% pass. Another crazy stat is that their QB has by far the most rushing yards on their team, which is somewhere close to double his passing yards (1200+ rushing/600+ passing), and the RB with the 2nd most rush yards isn't even close, like well over 200 fewer rush yards than their QB. That RB also has a lot less carries, enough fewer carries so that their YPC are pretty similar if I remember correctly. At least that's what everything was before this game, a few days ago when I thought to look them up for the first time.
They had a possession against North Texas that was 21 plays for 94 yards, and took almost 14 MINUTES off the clock. They had a 7:30 long drive against us Saturday, but aside from that we kept them behind schedule all night.
Whats Scary is Jeremyah Love is gonna be a Heisman Favorite Next Year, but if you put Jadarian Price on any other P4 Team, he too is a Heisman Candidate !!!! This Isnt a Thunder/Lightning Duo.....its Lightning/Lightning.....
Definitely, although I think we can blow them out if we play our best football. But yes, they haven't lost a game by more than 7 points. They took Penn State (who is overrated, but still a good team) to overtime.
This is what happens when service academies play teams with top tier athletes. Army and navy can compete with ND when they’re down and don’t have elite athletes all over the field but when they do this is usually going to be the result.
I think that loss earlier in the season by a never heard of univ was the best thing for Notre Dame!
