    The Jordan one was kinda weak tbh. When you meet someone new, the first thing they will ask is who your family is and try to figure out if they are connected to your family in any way by friendship or family. It's also normal to complain about foreigners while at the same time having many foreigner friends and doing everything possible to accommodate them. People here will hand out their WhatsApp numbers like candy; taxi drivers, the guy at the shawarma stand, the person you talked to for 2 minutes at a party. Also, complaining about litterers as you throw trash on the ground

    In my country we pour milk into the bowl first, then put cereal into a separate bowl and put in little bits of cereal into the milk as we eat. If you can’t finish it you can just pour it back into the bag 🌝 it also prevents soggy cereal lol

      @@John_Fugazzi In Canada it's the same thing. Most people just prefer their milk cold. Also won't it go sour kept at room temperature? I was taught at a young age that keeping milk cold keeps it fresh longer, as it slows down the growth of bacteria that spoils the milk.
      We also keep our eggs refrigerated, but I heard that in Australia people store their eggs at room temperature. Apparently eggs have a coating on them that keeps them fresh, but in North America they wash the eggs and the coating comes off so they have to be kept in the fridge.

    In the USA. It's more normal to measure drivable distances by how much time it takes to get there, rather than to say the distance. Say for example a destination is 60 miles away and the speed limit is 60, we'll just say it's an hour drive. I've only heard that this is abnormal outside the US and Canada, so forgive me if this is normal to you too.
    Edit: Also, distances can get so big and traffic, weather, etc. that distance becomes mostly irrelevant, so time taken is the only useful measurement.

    • @JosephStJames2000
      @JosephStJames2000 2 роки тому +3

      Absolutely. This is because in the major metropolitan areas in America, the actual distance has no relevance to travel time. In Los Angeles, it can take 3 hours simply to get crosstown. Gridlock is real; you just sit there. An accurate travel time is invaluable for Los Angeles scheduling. To say "Traffic was heavy" is not an acceptable excuse for being late since such congestion is a given for us all.

    • @marilena7848
      @marilena7848 2 роки тому +3

      I remember how this used to make my father ROFL when we moved to the States decades ago. The unit of measure would be time rather than distance. And sometimes he would ask, how far is X from Y and an American would respond, "It depends." What? "It depends on the time of day." He's thinking. Do these places move in the middle of the night?!? LOL.
      Of course, after several years in the US, he started thinking in time units too. This seems to me to be normal in all parts of the US, from congested urban areas to the rural west. It's all about driving. And I don't think other countries think the same way, at least not so consistently.

    • @theeternalsuperstar3773

    French here
    Yup we store milk at room temperature (when the bottle is not opened yet). And we complain lots because we are never satisfied for some reason ? Idk it's sorta satisfying ? Also strikes are common as hekk in here lol.
    However we very rarely eat snails, even though they're part of our gastronomy.
    Other weird stuff we do :
    - frog legs are part of our gastronomy as well (rarely eaten)
    - if you arrive "too early" (aka right on time) at your friend's place it's lowkey impolite
    - le french cheese, that has been banned from the USA because qualified as "health hazard" or something (one of them, Roquefort, has been banned because of its legendary green-blue moisture, which is a type of penicillin. In other terms, it may stink but we have been doing that for centuries)
    - "la bise", one or several kisses on the cheek to say hello (our Romance neighbors and some Latin-American countries do that too I think ?). In here you do la bise to coworkers, friends, family, friends' friends...
    - we have a day for crêpes
    - the McDonalds logo has a green background instead of red
    - food is a religion in here, really- (up to five meals a day, we love our gastronomy dearly and we talk about food while eating)
    - we have way too many public holidays in May. Plus we have a "bridges" system : if a public holiday falls on a Tuesday, then you get Monday as a bonus holiday. If it falls on a Thursday, the Friday is a public holiday too. Got it ?
    - we are masters at switching between "tu" (singular, informal "you") and "vous" (singular, formal "you", also our regular plural "you"). People who learn French need diagrams for that
    and that's pretty much it for now eheh
