Quite a contrast to Katchi-katchi Yama right?! 🤣🤣Fun that they'll go right from this one into that on the album!...I've also heard the audio for the new single "Replica" that'll be released on 7th June (track 1 on the album) and it's even more different! Can't wait for you and hopefully Ryan and the other GG's to run through the whole album once its out in July

That would be great. I think all of GG like Gacharic Spin, right?

Yeah, I'm intrigued about Replica release, from the radio recording it sounded something they haven't really done before.

The members of Gacharic Spin embrace the "spirituality of imperfection" . . . to perfection. By that, I mean they excel at releasing live performances without a net (hyper-edited, minutely-mixed, uber-filtered) to give listeners an authentic live performance experience without amplitude- reducing earplugs. And, to me at least, the results are spot on. Hana and TOMO-ZO work so well in context, with T-Z's solos serving the music overall, and Hana's lead work complementing TOMO-ZO without ever overtaking it. That balance is really hard to pull off. And yuri rarely has time to settle in a groove, with her kick-crash hits mostly syncopated (coming on the sub-pulse before the downbeat of the measure.) That has to be so unnerving to bring off in concert, but I think she does a REALLY great job of it by "staying in the zone.' After repeated hearings of this, I don't hear so much and timing issues as really creative accentuation and spacing between yuri and other members, particularly during her many fills. The intricate interplay among the instruments is so incredible! There's so much more to rave about the song, but others have already been doing it.

Imperfection to perfection....very nicely said 👍

Tomo-zo is just non-stop in this song (Kanami-Puzzle-level stuff), with Hana chipping in too, and that's not even my favourite aspect of the song. The vocals blew me away - so powerful. Also, Gacharic Spin make me like songs such as Kachi-kachi Yama that are well outside my comfort zone, but this is pretty much in the middle of my comfort zone. Probably my favourite song of theirs.
I get what you and others are saying about the mix, but even with those issues, I'll be amazed if I like the studio version more than this. It feels like a song that needs the energy and passion of a live performance.

ooooh. This just made me want to see Kanami and Tomo-zo just riffing together.

By now you should know that these ladies don't brake for anything or anyone. 🤭Well, luckily we don't have to wait much longer for new material from GS, huh? I'm really looking forward to it. 🤘🏻

Great review. I noticed that when GS first plays a song that they recently wrote, they are pretty much standing in one place and focused on their playing. There is a lot going on in this song. Even Tomo-zo was only smiling about half the time as usual. Yes there were a few times the playing was a bit rough around the edges but in a live performance, I want to see the band change the song up a bit and not give a copy/paste of the studio recording. As for Yuri, her drum playing was amazing. I had my doubts about her when she first replaced Hana but wow, she definitely has a different groove and I think she is the perfect fit for the direction this band is taking. Finally, after a few more performance I am sure that they will be running around the stage during this song like they usually do.

I'm not convinced that they'll be able to run around whilst playing this one no matter how experienced they are with it! It's nice for them to show they can just be purely technical too, although in general I prefer to see them having fun.

@@homegnome2429 I might have to disagree with you on this one. Maybe it won't be one of their most energetic stage presentations but they will get more comfortable playing this song live with time. Also, it is rare to see Tomo-zo barely crack a smile and stand in one spot during a song. Hopefully I can see them live one day.

@@homegnome2429 It seems the standing still is just a part of the act for this song to give it a sense of gravity. I was not able to attend this live but I believe it was the first song they played after the talk and announcement of the new album and label change. They play songs of at least equal, if not more, complexity and speed whilst moving around the stage extensively for Doll$Boxx, and there are several sections in this song where Angie is doing nothing at all but maintains her exact position, it is clearly a staging/performance choice!
See also Tomo-zo performing Nicorin Star Commuter Rush!

If you watch some of the GS-shorts they've been throwing around on yt, you can see how much more Hana is in control of playin' guitar.
So far the 3 songs of the new album have all been action packed and dense compositions. And totally different to each other.
Til next week (when Replica will be released).
    Cheers :)

Japanese Bands played 6, 7string guitars, 5, 6, 7 string bass, Western Band still playing with 6string guitars and 4string bass 🤔

    • @nanakakitano9724
      @nanakakitano9724 Рік тому

Many Western bands choose to play 7 string guitars, or up to 9, e.g. Meshuggah. I personally do not like extended range guitars, why start getting into the frequency range for bass and muddying it up with distortion and slop? It normally sounds very bad, although some very rare bands make it work, again e.g. Meshuggah.
