- In today's stream I work on some new tunes, and tune-up some old tunes in preparation for the memorial day show at Monkey Loft here in Seattle. I am working on the Digitakt 2, Syntakt, and the Octratrack MK2 as my performance mixer. I am also using the Push 3 as a voice processor and synthesizer. My experience with Digitakt 2 has been great at times but not always..

The amazing part is remembering all the hardcore digitakt "mono fans" that where trying to convince others that stereo is overrated and now the first thing that gets mentioned everywhere is how great it is to be able to use stereo. Go figure
I love it being an Elektron fanboy. Nobody said we don‘t need stereo sampling on the mark 1, it was accepted, as you accept everything the Gods send you 😂
Glad you made this video. Same issues here, DT2 missing the global mix/fx/comp page is not loading correct the DT1 projects that used global mix. So all my old projects are almost useless since i have to edit the levels/sends/comp in each pattern again (not a real life scenario). Also the low input gain on DT2 mess up my combo with Digitone (used to pass the DN through the DT) and i have to use external mixer to much the levels. Hope they solve this issues soon. Keep up the great work : )

I do something similar to your arp trick, but with Mutable Grids recording sequences into the Digitakt. Instant, endless melody generator.
same issue with pitch down confuse me, thx for your work great !
interesting that you feel that way about vocals. I usually feel the opposite where i don't like vocals unless they're telling a story or extra on point usually female vocals. So many tracks out there have some annoying little vocal samples to my ears. music perception is so hard to have any foothold or objective perspective

I haven't had the issue of semi tone switching, even when I play like 5 hours with the digitakt 2. Could it be linked to your setup, like the midi between octotrack and digitakt or something?
I think its a bug, I have all midi CC's turned off.
How can people not use the loopers !!!! The 3 looper setup a/b -c/d - main is brilliant!!!

Check out midi guitar 3! Lets you transpose guitar to midi and it’s MPE capable with envelopes so you can program it to control after touch like Roli. Like you I am more comfortable with guitar for riffing and composing. No need for logic when you can just use a vst. 41:32
I then send the tracked midi to a Elektron box and midi that out (sometimes to an rk002 if I send it to my ST if I want poly) to edit it on the fly. There is a max 4 live that also splits notes out like an RK002 as well, but don’t know if it works on standalone the push?
$500 for a second hand Digitakt 1 is starting to sound like a winner to me. I think I'll wait till Digitakt 2 has some years of ironing out issues and feature updates under its belt.
It'll be my first small format Elektron box, joining my A4, MD UW+ and OT, all of which I got many years after their initial release. Hopefully Digitone 2 is around the corner so I can get 1 for a bargain too.
Digitone 1 are already bargaining for 450 and Digitakts go as low as 400 now
i've noticed the Digitakt 2 gets wonky when I'm using midi via USB. it's freaked out on me more than once. for now i'm not using it to sequence any of my ipad apps and its behaving better than it was.
Push 3 is an absolute beast when you get to know it inside out. It does feel clunky to begin with but it’s possible to work at lightning speed eventually. Nothing else comes close to the P3 imo. Really enjoying the DT2 paired with the P3. 👌🏻
Im not ignoring the live looper on the octatrack, Im ignoring ALL sampling on the octatrack, lol.
Something about the DT2 doesn't sit right with me. I can't put my finger on it, but something about the sounds of the device aren't pleasing - like it adds a gloss or sheen to the music I don't like. Most of the intriguing updates are software updates, and I think the hardware updates are meh. A huge hard drive and stereo sampling is nice, the extra row of lights for the extended sequence count is okay too, but just okay. Manual slicing on samples would put this box over the top. They have a weird product psychology at Elektron - they want you to use the DT2 as a sampler with all those new machines, hard drive and bringing the sample track count up to 16, but they refuse to give it basic manual chopping, that has been on every sampler since the 80s. Wired on top of strange.
Business philosophy? They just don’t want to make the OT obsolete.
well there is lot of musical genres where sample chopping is not needed so they probably just are targeting on users who don’t need that feature..
to my ears overall sound is fantastic and in terms of features i lack nothing.. i am even lucky to not experience any bugs so- for me it’s perfect dreambox…
@@LoveMeBack Bud if adding a basic feature that comes with a vast majority of samplers over the $400 mark is making one of their flagship products "obsolete" then they have bigger problems to worry about
@@LoveMeBack I have heard this and if that's true, it's an awful policy. I have an OT and it's not because of sample chopping. This very basic feature is available on samplers at all price points, and has been since the 80s. I'm not asking for the Sun, Moon and Stars, here. Terrible excuse for an 1,000 USD sampler released in 2024. Saying"oh they can't add this basic feature because of a more expensive box that has it" is ridiculous.
@@EVILJAMARR Why pay 1500 for a OT then? It’s your money…..your choice but why? BTW Elektron is doing just fine. I know all of you are salty, but you have a choice not to buy the DT. I chose not to buy these small boxes because all of them have that one thing I wish they had. I bought the OT late to the game and I love it! Wish I purchased it sooner. Wish it had 16 tracks like the DT2, but it doesn’t. I just let go and enjoy it.
No real slicing, 1000$. No chance lol.
