Hi, firstly, a massive thank you from Canada for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us all. I bought a new home and wanted to upgrade my small theatre, so I moved my JBL 9.1 Atmos system to the lesser used TV in another room and invested in the Bose 900 sound-bar, 700 surround speakers and 700 boom boom box, connected to my LG 65 OLED. I have so many questions and nobody to answer them (I bought al my gear off of Amazon). For about a month I have been seeking answers. I wrote Bose and Dolby both. I have watched dozens of hours of UA-cam videos about it, tons of reviews. But nothing like yours. My setup is not at all for music, it is plain and simple for watching movies and shows. I was enjoying my system, but it really only seemed like a minor upgrade from my JBL, which was also Atmos, but the Bose cost so much more I felt I was missing something (or many things). After watching your video, I have made all of the appropriate adjustments, including moving the sub to touch my couch, which definitely makes it vibrate and improves the immersion. The new sound after your recommendations doesn't just blow your socks off, it peels back a few layers of skin. It's unbelievable, a night and day difference! At 7:48 where you are talking about subwoofer placement, you said one way was touching your sitting area and point the air hole directly forward. My Bose 700 subwoofer I can't see any air holes lol, so if I simply have the power cord at the back of it and the opposite side is pointing forward, is this the correct orientation? I have the Bose stands, just bought them so my 700's are at head level, but I have now ordered the Bose ceiling mounts based on your recommendation and will return the stands. Really looking forward to it, I mean I cannot see my audio improving any more but I sense that this will improve it. i have my Bose 900 sound bar on a ledge in front the of tv attached to the articulated TV mount, seems to work very well. However, I have two cats. And they already wrecked an OLE TV by pawing at it when they see things that interest them. So to protect the replacement, the only way my Maine Coons can get to the OLE screen is on top of the Bose 900. So I have cut out and put on it a cat scat mat. It is plastic and essentially like a spiked strip the police put on the road to stop bad guys. It doesn't hurt my hur babies, they simply don't like walking on it (you will see if you google pink moon cat scat mat). I removed it to run AdaptQ but am wondering if I can leave it on my sound bar, if it is affecting the sound at all, what are your thoughts? You have gained a life-long subscriber with me and I cannot thank you enough for the work and energy you put into your comprehensive videos that even old farts like me can understand :)

I myself have 2 cats and they have destroyed a couple of grand of tech already lol. I would just recommend that you do not cover the upfiring speakers and if you go over any part of the front grill just don't put in in the speaker areas if possible. Otherwise If it sounds good to you is the most important factor. Gave me shivers up my spine, I thin the 4th time I've seen it now, but I don't know a better movie to test this with. You so inspired me that I just did something horrible. I dipped into my retirement funds ( in the states you would call it your 401K plan) and bought a second one 900 sub. If my neighbours didn't like me before, I have no idea what they'll think of me with 1,400 watts of bass now lol ! Same here. I love the system. I’m on the lg 65”C7 oled and whether atmos works or not, there is no way I’m gonna buy a new tv for a few more years. Upgrading a whole tv for pseudo atmos (when available) is a bit much for me. 😂 Although I’ve heard the soundbar does it’s own atmos mix if there is no atmos source?

@@luvtechLynn Surrounds and atmos are more like accessories to me. If I turn off the surrounds I don’t really miss much. It’s a nice to have imo. The bar and bass module though are stellar.

🔥🔥🔥 Hack: if you want louder dialog wrap a towel around the 700/900 “center speaker only” and run AQ. It will force more sound into the speaker. You can also move the sound bar further away.
This hack works with the 700 rear speakers as well.

Great tips! We recently purchased the soundbar 900 and have tried with both the bass modules 500 and 700 (Separately). With both, we found a loss of clarity with subtle sounds as well as the bars projection of spacious sounds. This is particularly noticeable with quiet movie scenes where bass isn’t part of the mix . Have you encountered anything similar? We love the added heft of the bass modules, but really enjoy the clarity and spaciousness of the bar alone. I’d like to achieve this with a bass module paired, but haven’t been able to do so.
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 💯 Best thing you can do is also by the rears omnijewel700 speakers this will allow true separation and will stop the sub from all trying to give fuller sound and just provide bass. As far as just bar and bass try placing the bass behind the siting area then running your adapt iq is crucial make sure to move to 5 locations especially a far left and right location to pull the sound. Once that is complete adjustment of your eq can really expand on what sounds you pull from your bar.
If you don't run the adaptiq you will not achieve what your system can deliver. It is imperative that it be run because it optimizes the system.

I never thought of putting the diamond speakers like you mentioned. I had them facing forward. Only drawback is I have to put them on a shelf as my couch reclines and I can't use stands either :( Beyond that though, the only issue I have is the glass top. It relects in my TV at times. I have to put an old pantleg or towel on the glass part (speakers fully uncovered)

I am not being a troll, but your room has to be perfect to enjoy all that the Bose 900 can bring, and if it is not you are going to miss out. My living layout is atrocious because opens to the dining room and I have two tower speakers on either side of my display so there is no room for the sound to reflect from so I can't take full advantage of the 900. I do enjoy your videos. Thanks.

I have the Bose 900 ,Bose bass 700,and Surround 700. When im watching a movie on my sony player i pause the movie and sometimes when i unpause it i completely lose sound i always have to disconnect the sound bar so it can reset and get sound again. I also lose sound when I’m flipping threw channels. I always have to keep on resetting the sound bar.
This is typical when the outsource is set to a unsupported format or to many sources trying to control audio. Also If you have a dish or cable box shut surround sound out off let the tv control the audio through its earc and tv eq settings. Then adjust your bose music app from there. Check your Blu Ray and box settings set to auto if available than set your tv out and let me know 😊
Question bro I have earc that’s connected to the tv with the sound bar 900 I also have upgraded optic audio connected to the tv to the sound bar……can I leave both connected or should I take off the optic running fr on the tv to the sound bar or does it not matter having them both connected

Optical connection doesn't support Dolby Atmos so if you have a issue with Atmos then disconnect the optical and it will fix it. If your TV supports Atmos

Thank you Jb. I have the 700 rear speakers and I would like to ceiling mount. I have vaulted ceilings. The right rear is a no brainer to install in the corner. My issue is the left rear. What is the best communication to send you the photo so you can assist me with the left rear 700 speaker.

The big problem is you will need a long mount to bring it down fron the vaulted ceiling. Upon connecting the bass module 700 to soundbar 900. What are the adjustments that will happen to the soundbar.
Will the bass output from the bar reduced. or the system redirects all the lower frequency to the bass module so that the bar work less. Thanks

The bass module is used only for what it is meant actual bass. If you use the bar and bass without rears the module also helps fill the sound out with voice ect. But in any case the bar doesn't lose power persay it just is utilized differently. Hopefully this is making sense lol. Thanks for doing this video JB. You put out more information about the 900 Atmos system than Bose did themselves. Question, how do the omnijewel vs virtually invisible sound in comparison to one another at the various installation positions that you recommended? That is, from both a Dolby Atmos perspective and a music listening perspective. Can you do a video on that? I've been to several stores and all they have on display is the Bose 650. From the appearance, the 700 omnis just look to small and insignificant for the price. I have the 900 with 2 500 base modules. I'm not quite getting enough of that top down Atmos sound. I'm trying to wait Bose out to see if they will release 900 omnijewel surround speakers with up firing (or down firing depending upon installation). Any insiders info on this?

The omnijewel700 fire 4 ways and give you better immersion I definitely recommend omni jewel 7 hundreds and base module 7 hundreds too really take your system to the next level as far as new rear speakers this is definitely something I believe will happen the unfortunate part is the world is so behind when it comes to Tech due to supply issues so it might be a while yo yo yo no insider information unfortunately just a guess.
Awesome thanks. Another question, since the 900 is a 5.1 system with the sound bar and 1 sub, does adding a second sub and rear speakers make it a 7.2.2?
Technically speaking the Bose soundbar is a 5.0. 2 channel system (the '0' as there's no sub, the '2' for the upfiring speakers), but you can make it a 7.2. 2 channel system with all the added accessories and 2 bass

The weird thing is, I've fone through the entire pdf manual(of which was not mentioned by Bose that it even existed) and could not find a single spec for the system or mention of 5.0, 7.0 or anything other than Atmos. Then I realized that I bought the system solely based on reviews like yours and knowledge of Bose quality from past experience with Bos 601s and 901s. No in store demos or anything.. I normally would never do that. Strange times...
What's interesting to me is I'm just a consumer like anyone else. When I decided to do videos on products I enjoy it of course created a chain reaction of buying and Buying different products brands ect. When it comes to Bose products they have been very hush hush since the beginning as they have very protected protected patented products they often depend more on actual actual results than specs then specs now in the past this would have made no sense to me and I would have thought it seems more shady than anything but now that I've owned so many different products and tested so many different products with the sole purpose of genuinely trying to find great Products of all different types truly no matter the know matter the brand. I have learned quickly We the consumer are easily lied to based off specs. I have products that are loaded to the T with specs that we are told make or break a system. But they sound awful? Or perform awful. One thing I admire about bose if you buy straight through them they give you a 90 day unconditional guarantee. if you don't like their product send it back with no charges to you. Especially in the Tech world where margins are relatively low this tells you they know they have a product that the majority of people will like and keep. Bose doesn't come out with a new version of the same product every year. I don't know of many Tech companies that don't if any. they stick with their products typically 4 to 5 years before moving up and usually when they finally do upgrade it's an actual upgrade I've always found that fascinating with Bose products.

Can you show and explain how to hook up 2 700 base modules to the Soundbar 900. I have tried everything to sync them and can not get them both to sync.

They must be both connected wirelessly. Then run the setup for the first bass 700 and leave the other unplugged once completed plug the next 700one in and run the bass setup again now you are done. Note if a bass module was connected to a different bar at any point make sure it has been deleted and that the old bar is unplugged during the new setup. I have the BoseSmart Soundbar 900 and Acoustimass bass module 300. Works great, the bass module 300 is recognized as the 700. I have two surround double cube surrounds and would like to use is in this system. Can I use the Bose SL2 to wirelessly connect these to my setup?

Thanks for your response. I have another idea I wanted to run by you. My TV has an optical out, if I use an optical RCA converter with the SL2 and double cubes, you think that will work? I don't want to waste the double cubes I already have.
@minhdh2085 the speakers would work but the only way is to get one of the supporting boxes. From virtually invisible speaker boes Omni Jewel 700 Rears bose 300 Rears.

Excellent Reviews, I have one query. at present I have Bose 700 soundbar, 2 bose 700 bass modules, and 2 Omni jewel 700 surround speakers. The soundbar is connected to the ARC port of the TV. If I add 900 soundbars to make a group and want the 900 to control everything, how am I gonna connect 900? shall I connect 900 to the HDMI arc port of the TV? If so what will be the best setup position for this? also can I add more surround speakers if i have a group of 700 and 900 soundbars?

Any bar connection will include any accessories that you have setup. I have one at each tv in different rooms than when I group play you get the full systems playing. Yes but one will run off the group through Wi-Fi. So music that will work fine for movies tv ect you need to click sync with tv group and make sure you have a powerful router to stop delays

When I go to the expert sound setting Dolby digital + is greyed out and I can’t select it.

It will automatically pick it up when it's being output from your source and then the movie you are watching must have the formats available also otherwise you will get pcm stereo or Dolby digital 5.1. Essentially what you need to happen is the music to come through wifi straight through the bar. I am getting a interference noise from my base 700 module , someone said connecting from 5ghz band to 2.4 ghz band will fix it but still having issue , any tips ?

Tge wifi won't make any difference as the bass connection is directly through the bar and not over wifi so use your preferred method. The best way to solve this is to use the bose bass module aux cable and hardwire it to the bar. It coat 15 bucks and will really enhance your experience. I keep having to return my soundbar 900 for some reason the sound goes out and once I unplug it to reset the bar...it gets stuck in a loop trying to reconnect to my wifi...I have a Samsung q90r 65 inch TV 2020 it doesn't say earc, but it does have a button for dolby atmos in the settings and my TV does recognize the 900 soundbar. Any suggestions 🤔 for me? I am using a rocket fish hdmi cable...crazy thing is my bar 700 works just fine no problems at all..
my 900 makes a loud screeching noise when ever i turn on the ps5..i have to change sources to get rid of it and then go back to the ps5..
I have the 900 and Sony A90J and I was experiencing the same issues when first connected them together and this went on for a few days. Fortunately the issue went away on its own without any correction on my part. I guess they finally melded together. I was plugging and unplugging the power cord constantly resetting it and I got the idea to push the television icon on the Bose remote and it worked and I didn't have to keep reseting it anymore. Hope this helps.
I'm sorry to hear 😔 Honestly I hate to say it as you know I love Samsung Tvs But The Problem is Happening in your Arc port on The q90r. The tv did not release with a earc port and through time Samsung released a software update to give you Dolby Atmos pass through Problem is it only seems to work well with Samsung Atmos Bars. So it's kinda a nightmare 😕 What you can do is make sure you hdmi cable is a 2.1 cable manufacturer reset your tv leave the bar plugged in and powered on while the tv runs through smart set-up so that it actually picks up the 900 and list it under your hdmi 4 arc port. In your tv audio settings try pcm and allow the tv to decide when Dolby is available. After this anytime it stops working unplug the 900 from your TV and from the wall wait a full 60 seconds plug the power to your 900 wait 60 Seconds then plug in the HDMI cable this will force the TV to recognize it and at any point you can also go into your sound settings and make sure HDMI is set to Output that it didn't resort to example TV speakers. As far as it losing internet connection unfortunately this likely is your router I recommend using very high and routers unfortunately the kind of ridiculously priced but 2.4 ghz is not your fastest signal but likely your strongest so be sure to connect to that channel 😉 ua-cam.com/play/PLMdd-qroR8HXYpKEY4W5vrw3p6zGdrjuH.html

1) Just LG G2 Oled Evo TV, without Bose900:
[Dolby Vision] & [Dolby Atmos]
2) Once Bose 900 is turned on:
[Dolby Vision] & [5.1]
There’s no way to use Dolby Atmos and all Netflix & Disney+ content only shown in the BOSE Music App “TV-lpcm 2.0”

Sound Advanced Settings:
[DTV Audio Setting] default “Auto”
Choices:
1) Mpeg
2) Dolby Digital
3) Dolby Digital Plus
4) HE-ACC

[Digital Sound Output] default “Auto”
Need to select “Pass Through”
1) PCM
2) Auto
3) Pass Through <
[eARC Support] Default “unable”
Choose “Enable” <
After the above 3 checks, either Dolby Atmos or Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 appears on the Bose Music App under “TV” source, depending on contents labels.
Love my 900 but unfortunately it’s considerably more quiet, I’m assuming one of the tweeters have packed in! I’ve got it booked in now at bose service centre. Still, not something id expect after 9 months of ownership

@@JbTechFanatic sound was working.. but it just felt very flat and had to have the volume about 10 levels higher than normal to listen to TV or even music. That’s why I’m assuming it was a tweeter or one of the speakers had blown or stopped working.

Hi JB, is there anyway to get a non-Google / non-Bose Bluetooth Speaker to connect to the 900 or Google Home? I tried to connect my Shava BT speaker and even a Bluetooth amplifier which is connect to my Bos 301 (analog) speakers but its not seeing them. My android phone sees them fine but Google home appears to only want to work through an actual service as opposed to a direct connection. I don't see a service for generic Bluetooth speakers or devices. Both devices were in pairing mode but only the android phone sees them.

1st connect the 1st speaker to Bluetooth using your phone once connected go to the Bluetooth menu click the 3 dots in the top right hand corner then click advance then click turn on dual audio at this point you will be able to connect your next speaker
I have the Bose Soundbar 900 with the Bass Module 700. What i have noticed: After initially connecting the bass module WITHOUT doing Adaptiq, the bass has way more power, but when compared to doing Adaptiq WITH the Bass Module connected, it quiets the bass significantly down to a point where it is barely noticable. So i always do Adaptiq first and only afterwards connect the Bass Module. Anyone else noticed this behaviour?

Put the bass module to the back of your room when running adapt iq process. It forces it to adjust for more bass when it's further away and the mic doesn't hear it as well. @outlawdownunder3282 adapt iq process takes the sound from each location and balances it. If the bass module is to close to you in all 5 locations and it's to loud it will tone it down. Move to the further locations possible to get louder sound from rears and bass.

Be sure to move to 5 different spots with the mic on top of your head with nothing blocking the mic on headset also Make sure the room is silent also. Once completed then adjust your eq settings to your liking to get the most out of your sound. @@JbTechFanatic I've switched from ambeo to bose 900 and I'm very happy. I feel surround sound is great in bose 900 due to their phase guide tech (instead of firing through walls it projects sound in a diff way). I've ordered bose 300 surrounds to complete the setup. Thanks

I completely agree with you about the remote. Unfortunately the 700 remote doesn't work with the 900. Bose moved their newest bars into the "Smart Soundbar" title and focused on voice for video and mobile device for control. Only supply a small Remote that I can honestly say I have never used once except for part 1 900 video. At first their was talk about a pro remote coming but at this point I think it's safe to say that is not happening either 🤔 But your tv remote works great for everyday usage and the bose music app for the rest. Definitely not the best thing not giving a better remote to us.
