    Its real sad that those two kittens are all grown up now and hate each other.. the one with white feet kicked the other one out and he lives across the street now.. they are rescued brothers (their mom got killed) the cats have no problem going through the door as low as it is.. THEY ARE CATS.. if they are too lazy to crouch down and go through it they can stay outside i honestly dont care.. LOL if for some reason you want to see them now look at my POWER WINDOW KIT video you will see the white foot one currently in the beginning of the video.. they both are healthy and beautiful.. THANKS FOR WATCHING..

    Nice video! I agree about the difficultly and danger level of cutting in a steel door. Unfortunately I watched this video AFTER I installed my pet flap. I had the same problems, horrible razor sharp edges and not a clean straight cut. My door was 2" thick (also foam fill) and there is no jig saw metal cutting blade available in that length so I used a wood cutting blade. It made it through most of it but had to finish with a Dremel type cutoff disc. It works as the frame will cover over the rough edges.

    Chris, thanks for such an incredibly clear demonstration of how to trouble shoot a starter. Mine is an old 50 horse tractor starter. But the demonstration gave me all of the needed orientation to the starter wiring.

    @1:35 = I'm only a minute into this video and love it already! one warning that deserves attention: those red switches (outside vs. inside) are NOTORIOUSLY unreliable and should never be used IMHO in cold weather -- I had a pet door just like this 2 houses ago, and that red switch was ALWAYS malfunctioning, I'd set it a certain way and it would switch back on its own, sometimes trapping my cats outside! they literally couldn't get back indoors cuz the stupid switch was locking the door shut :( so finally I just took a piece of tape and stuck it over the red switch to FORCE it in the "always open" position, just to be on the safe side (and fashioned a thin sheet of plastic to hang in front of the door, when I wanted to cut off access to the outside).....this probably sounds like too much hassle, but to anyone reading this: imagine how awful you'd feel if one of your cats got stuck outside in the rain or snow, just because of a cheap piece of plastic that didn't do what it was supposed to do?

      I just leave it open both ways.. it’s been like that since the video.. sometimes you will find a mystery cat in your house but it was just hungry.. 🤘🏻👶🏻🤘🏻

    The pet door opening is awfully close to the bottom of the door. How is your door holding up. It seems there would be a structural issue with the pet door hole that close. My door installation instructions recommends at least 3".

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  4 роки тому

      they say that for interior wood/paper doors because they are cheaply made.. this is a steel exterior door.. there are no structural issues..

      To me the issue of how low to the floor it is, makes it so a cat can't naturally walk through it. They basically have to scrunch down to almost the lying position. Imagine if someone made the doors to your house so low that you had to get down on your hands and knees to get in and out.

      cats don’t give a damn about that.. I have places at work I have to crawl around everyday and it doesn’t matter..

      The bottom of the flap should be about 15 cm off the ground. Putting it lower for the sake of aesthetics shouldn't really be a consideration.

    Wow you know cars *AND CATS* ?!!!! 🙀😽.
    Amazingly well rounded.
    We have that same exact cat door.
    *EDIT: Oh snap! I was mixing you up with ‘ChrisFix’ because I’m subscribed to both of you. Well never mind the car comment... but nice job nonetheless.*

    Do you think If you just traced it on both sides and cut with an angle grinder it would have been easier? Edit: or a shorter saw blade

    Hi, I would like to install a cat door in my metal patio door with a glass window. There is 8 and 1/4 inches between the bottom of the door and the bottom trim of the glass. Would you know how close I can cut down to the bottom of the door and glass without affecting the integrity of door or glass? Thank you.

    This was great. Do cats adapt easily to using this little door? I am considering moving litter box to screened porch.

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  2 роки тому +1

      yes// but a kitten needs to be like a month and a half old.. or when it has enough strength to jump.. you just have to guide it through.. they all adapt. very quick when they get hungry..

    Maybe dumb question, but can this be done with door already installed?

    • @peacefrog3
      @peacefrog3 3 роки тому

      Yes it could be done, but working that low to the ground is going to be difficult and less safe than pulling off the door first.
