After borrowing a jigsaw, I consulted this video at least three times during the installation of my Cat Mate cat flap. Follow this guidance -- you'll save much time, as I did. One tip from me: when I installed the two sections into the freshly cut opening, I found that the flap was pinching (and wouldn't operate). So I used a bastard file to smooth and slightly broaden the inside of the opening. With a slightly looser fit, the two sections come together more easily (i.e. without any compression). Now the flap swings both ways as designed.
Thanks for taking the time to put this up! I am a DIY guy, but these videos help to catch a few of the gotchas that get us all. I appreciate your channel!
almost skimmed through this but thought better; definitely would have made the mistake of putting the door too low and making them slink through it... Super glad I took the time to watch the whole thing
Nice! Hope I can set mine at the right height, I have a mid sized dog and a small dog. Gotta balance it where the bigger one doesn't have to crouch and the small one doesn't have to leap through. This video helped a lot though, thank you!
What kind of jigsaw is that? Id like to purchase one thats not expensive. Just cheap enough to do this one job of cutting a hole in the door for the cat door.

I have afew strobe lights flashing in My cellar. Those flashing lights repel skunks, chipmunks, squirrels and other rodents without poison and the cat does not seem to mind the flashing lights.
I disagree. (Too long didn’t read at bottom) My house is poorly designed where me and my brother’s room is in a tight hallway with my room being at the end. My cat and his cat consistently have issues and my cat avoids his all the time. He constantly comes into my room any chance he gets to take up her space, eat her food, and use her litter box. She self mutilates herself (licking and biting her fur off) because of stress and anxiety. I’ve had this cat for almost 11 years and have had her since I was 7. A $300 micro chip cat door, a couple of rented tools, and yes, a hole in the door is worth every penny to me so she can live out her elder years in as much peace as I can give her. TL;DR: My furry best friend is the constant target of my brothers cat and a cat door will help reduce her stress making it, worth it.
@@babygirlshari4223 I ended up getting some pheromones for the hallway which has reduced the amounts of fights. But he still his a little shit to my cat. I haven’t gotten a cat door yet and might not since I’m moving out next year but I’m doing everything I can to reduce encounters. She does seem happier though when I’m there.

Brilliant. I successfully installed a cat door in my new shed thanks to you.
Your Fur Baby should be in movies. He was on Cue each time !!!!

Great video and thanks for explaining it so well. We just successfully installed our cat door!
Great instructions! Thank you so much for walking us through it.
Very helpful video! Solved most of my problems. Thanks for the upload and your beautiful ginger cat 😸
@TheDIYGuyDOTnet would you do 4 inch raise for basement door since stairs are there? Thanks

Thanks. This is my project today because our 2 year old likes to scatter litter everywhere!!! Yay!!
Excellent Presentation. Thank You. 😊
Great video, If anyone has a cat and treats won’t work to get them to use the door, the laser pointer worked wonders lol
This is super thorough and informative. Thank you!
Use a laser cat toy to get your cat to use the cat door. If they love playing laser, they will go through the flap eventually.
Great idea! One of my cats isn't treat-motivated, so I'll give the laser a try
@@runawayfaeIX did it work
@@JM-ms4hu I never got the chance - my husband said "hell no" to cutting a hole in the wall or door. 🤷♀️
Thanks for the tips! Greeting from El Salvador 🇸🇻
Can you use an electric saw? Would it be harder not having the flat edge of the saw to rest on thr door

Nice kitty!
Great video man!
Great video. Thanks!!
is a black decker jigsaw fine just for this one project. Its the cheapest i can find its 28$.
Should work just fine.
Well done. Thank you!
what is the measurement of the bottom of the panel to the bottom of the door? I like how you didn't need to install in the panel.
On these doors it was 11" from the bottom of the door to the bottom of the door detail.
My screws never go to the other side correctly even when I'm leveling my pilot holes :/
Why did you measure it to put the screws in
Great idea 💡❣️

What on earth were you thinking putting your fingers that close to a moving saw blade???! Irresponsible at best!! Horribly unsafe!!
Cat might out on weight 😂.
This would be so much easier if my wife would just let me get rid of the cats.
👎👎
I was thinking the same thing and boom cat number 2 gets brought home!

Amen I’m in the same boat but that’s not an option so here I am looking how to install this thing haha
I prefer to build with Woodglut plans.
That cat door is worthless.
No animal is worth putting a hole in a door
It's ok if you can't afford a $100 door after like 15 years of having said pet.
