We used to go to Vegas 3-4 times a year every year for 20+ years. Now we go to Reno. Been there 4 times total and haven’t paid for a room or any resort fees on the last 3 trips.
@ no argument from me there. But we literally never leave the Peppermill. Food ain’t as good as Vegas but I can handle it for 2.5 days and at least it’s comped
Does anyone remember when vegas was about the experience? The casinos did everything possible to give guests an experience. Now it is how much money they can squeeze out of you. I remember 3 dollar steak and egg breakfasts.
Yep, I remember steak and lobster dinners for $7.77 and breakfast for $1.99. Hotel rooms were $25/ night and you actually had $$ to gamble. Now by time you pay for the room, transport to and from airport, and meals, you can’t afford to gamble!
I don't understand the constant price increases on the strip. The traffic, crowds, and airfare coupled with horrible odds compared to my local casinos is why I now play 15x more locally than I do in Vegas. It's just not worth it anymore.
it's because people aren't going to vegas to play as much as they used to (or want to). now people go for experiences like concerts or music festivals or to watch sports games or for conventions.
There is also a BOA just past Ellis Island in a little plaza on the left. It's an actual brick and mortar BOA so their ATM is a normal ATM without the jacked up ridiculous fees. It's not a very far walk from the strip and the area has really been improved so it's not a scary walk either
Maybe have your money in hand before going seems to make sense to me. If you’re spending $100 on a meal or $30 for a drink at the pool what’s another $10-15 bucks more if you need to tweek your budget when running low.
Indians have decent casinos too. More tobacco smell, naturally, but they sometimes have powwows which are fun to watch. Much cheaper and dotted around the United States
We used to fly or drive to Reno or Vegas in past years and had a blast enjoying the cheap amenities (food and hotels). Now it is getting unaffordable. Since retiring recently, we now use our RV and go "glamping". There are a few places to RV on the strip too.
Just came back from LV 3 nights vacation. Nothing special there for me anymore. Not even the buffets are worth coming back for. This could pretty much be my last visit there. Everywhere you go it's fees, fees, fees. Buffets cost have gone up doubled and food is mediocre cafeteria junk. It will be stupid to go back to pay so much for nothing special experience.
vegas is only fun now if you plan to go to events - like concerts and music festivals. just ask the people who just went to the sphere and other events like new years how much fun it is. it's less about playing in a hotel and more going to events or shows now
What is going on with these massive price increases? Are they trying to lose even more money? Along with the high room rates, resort fees, parking, and worse gambling odds, they won’t make it eventually. People cannot afford this price gouging.
People keep paying so price increases will continue. Maybe 15-20 yrs ago used to rent car at airport , save 2 taxi rides & all hotels had free valet parking. Corporations that own these hotels look at them like spounges constantly figuring how to Squeeze Few more drops. Either way Vegas is my fav place :)
@@me7659 Yeah, I think their point was that It's becoming less affordable for the low roller. It seems Vegas Is trying to push out the low roller and just cater to the high rollers that don't care about their money.
Regarding Whiskey Petes section. The property is closed but the gas station is unaffected by it and will remain open. Good for truck drivers that used the Flying J to fuel.
Keep bumping those fees up. Already ridiculous that hotel guests have to pay for parking on top of Resort fees. Downtown, off strips such as South Point are way better options for seasonal visitors to Vegas. Even using comps aren’t that worth it anymore on the strips, still have to pay them fees.
The more growth I see, the more I realize I have no intention of visiting LV...ever. Way too high room costs, resort fees, increasing parking fees, and now two more hotels being built. Why build more? Las Vegas isn't special anymore. It's just an oversized glitzy desert dump. I wish I had a way of going back in time to when the shows were awesome, the food was great, and winning was celebrated.
As usual, great job gathering all the Vegas news and putting it into a very informational newsletter type format Jacob. I really enjoy all the information. Vegas is changing so fast and furious it seems like it is a whole new city. It sort of sad imo. I can't even tell anymore what demographic they are trying to draw? Clearly not the older generations. They have priced me right out. I used to be able to go for a week on a pretty minimal budget but not anymore. With all the after dinner inexpensive shows gone, and only very expensive residencies left, there is not much entertainment now. If one is not a gambler there is a big void for people who don't want to pay $500 and up for concert tickets there really is no draw for entertainment. I miss the Cirque shows, or the inexpensive but entertaining shows (magicians, ventriloquists, comedy etc), the shows that used to be $69.00 or thereabouts that would be fun to go to in the evening. But I still like to hear all the news you round up for us. Maybe some day I will go back but there are so many other places to go that are not as expensive I just can't see paying the sky high prices in Vegas. Vegas has become so greedy, and there isn't even justification for the prices yet they just keep going up! Keep up your hard work, I think you have found your niche for your channel.
The strip gambling is down, because they have priced themselves out of the market for the average person. All those ridiculous fees and restaurant prices, cut deeply into the budget. I just stay on Fremont and gamble where we still feel appreciated. I will catch the Deuce sometimes to see the Bellagio atrium or for one of those Chicago pizzas.

Great video Jacob. Happy Holidays. We'll never visit there again. We can get comp flights to Lake Tahoe, Laughlin and Beau Rivage. Oh yeah, rooms comped too. We USED to be able to get that in Las Vegas. Besides Laughlin, I get to play the lottery in those other aforementioned places.
We’ve been to Vegas for the last time in 2022. Just so danged expensive to do ANYTHING. The middle strip is now so full of construction, the smell of weed, the homeless, the mentally disturbed. I haven’t been to Laughlin in about 12 years, but remember how cheap everything was compared to Vegas. Have they built anything new out there in the last decade?
Maybe the Big Casinos should lower their table minimums, So you can play Black Jack for more than 5 minutes before you lose ALL your money. The tables on a Friday or Saturday are empty, No one bothers. The Casinos are going to take MY money, Why not let me have a little fun before you clean me out?
Agree, it’s ridiculous. If they want empty tables and lower revenue I guess they’re achieving their goal so congratulations to them. I like to stay at Wynn but good luck finding a table that is less than $50 per hand. And yes, they’re often empty. And when I do find a $25 table, they usually raise it to $50 shortly after I sit down. (Ofc they still let me play $25). I think that’s another weird little trick they have so the place doesn’t look completely dead. I often leave and go to Green Valley Ranch. It’s great, $15 table minimums, double deck blackjack and better payouts.
I can tell you 100%that big casino ain't going to lower it down the bet because y would they want people playing $5$10 etc.. playing in their property and scaring all the big money players away. 😅
Think about this those small limit people they only money 💰 maybe going vegas one every year but those high limits players they got money so they can go anytime whenever they want. As you can see compare with high end casinos and lower end casinos. Lower end casinos rooms are dirty full with lower end people so they have$5 $10 there but in higher end casinos you will only see people with higher end with money 💰, clean room and people are more educated not like lowrrend casinos mostly drugs .
Sure, hotels can still charge resort fees. But they now have to be included in any advertised price. For a hypothetical example, take a room at MGM Grand. Instead of being able to say "Rooms from $79", they now have to include the resort fee in the price of that advertisement and say "Rooms from $129".
It’s about time the government dealt with “hidden fees.” Bought Shin Lim Vegas tickets two weeks ago. Picked out the $60 seats. Final price was $89 ticket. All of this AFTER you picked out the seat and price ($60).
Yea but the video also said they're still not making it illegal. They're just putting it in the fine print that you're still gonna pay those fees so you're "more educated."
I remember when I visited Las Vegas in 2013 and I booked through Expedia and it said our hotel price included "ALL RATES AND FEES" and then we got hit with like a $30 per night "Resort Fee" I was livid... what part off ALL do they not understand?
This is great. It proves that my decision to only stay downtown ( my last three visits) was the right decision. More bang for your buck, everything is close and I feel like they respect me. A $19.99 prime rib deal is the cherry on the sunday.
My family would always drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas when we were younger and we would always stop by the stateline since they could pretty much just leave us at the arcade in Buffalo bills. With the closing of Whiskey Pete’s it’s kinda sad to see the stateline be a ghost of what it once was.
$12 ATM fees is a deal! ATM fees at the strip clubs are like $60 That's why you take the hike out of the casino to CVS/Rite Aid/Walgreens and use their much cheaper ATMs.
The Vegas my wife and I loved 4 times a year for 20 years is long gone. It’s lost its magic, charm, and fun. The entertainment Vegas provides is far less than it was and the prices are so much higher. Hence, Vegas loses our $40,000 spend per year, and sadly, it could not care less. By today’s Vegas standards, myself, my wife, and our money aren’t worth the effort.
February's SuperBowl will be our last trip out going forward for quite a while. It's not that we can't afford it, but a question of not wanting to afford it any longer. 32 years in a row will be ending 2025!
I love going to Vegas but our Canadian dollar is so weak. $1Cad only gets $0.69 cents. Plus with the inflated prices in Vegas, a simple fast food meal for the family runs close to $100cad. Just nuts.
Less than that. That is market value. When you exchange at a bank, it's almost $150 CAD for $100 USD. Crazy! I was there in Nov and paid $144 CAD for $100 USD.
@ It’s terrible isn’t it. All roads look like it’s heading down to the low $0.60’s too. Massive deficits and money printing in Canada. Total collapse in buying power.
@@TravelingwithValeman77 I have to stay within Canada now. It’s double if not triple for flight and hotels in the US. Then spending money on top. $5000-$6000 in the hole for a week or less vacation. Madness.
Hi Jacob. Thanks for the great Las Vegas content. My wife and I just came back from a 7 day stay and we’re done with the strip. The absurd food prices and super tight slots do not justify the room comps. MGM’s tier credit expiration policy of 12 midnight on Dec 31st finally did it and we’re looking for off strip recommendations. Any recommendations for Dec 2025?
I remember most people around me would go to Las Vegas, now hardly anyone. We have casinos a half hour away. No need to spend thousands to fly out to vegas.
@@Horseracingtip lol name me any place in the world like Vegas and come back and tell me if anyone gives a damn about you and your friends not visiting.
When the gaming economy is spoken about by Las Vegas TV pundits and talking heads, it surprises me when the voice of alarm is heard when the drop of gaming revenues is reported. It seems none, in the local media, that expresses alarm of a drop in gaming revenues is willing to publicly acknowledge a reason behind that, which is: _Well, given the inflated prices for everything else along the Strip corridor, that takes away dollars that could have otherwise been spent on the gaming tables; slot machines; and sports books._
COMP room should not have resort fees charged, end of story. Charge that off to the casino like they do the room rate. Players get COMP rooms because clearly they are gambling. Make all those things "you get" in the RF optional and I can decide if I want to pay for them on not. When was the last time you used the phone to call? Printed a boarding pass, etc?
If I did not get my rooms comped I would not even go. those resort fees are outrageous. they just need to increase the price of the rooms instead of pissing everybody off.
I agree with @SaltySouthTexan! Corporate greed on the strip. Avoid the strip and stay D-town support the locals of Vegas. Thanks Jacob for the 411 on Vegas happs.
Happy New Year, Jacob!! and to everyone else!! I am in total agreement with ALL of these similar thoughts on prices for Vegas. I also went every year for decades in the summer, until CoVid!! I couldn't wait to return in 2022 as CoVid suddenly was gone nearly as fast as it arrived. Shocked by the increases, 2022 vs 2019!! Summer of 2023? Nope, from Grand Canyon to Vegas is about 275 miles, I bypassed it, went to some different Colorado destinations. Food and Hotels there not cheap, but half of Vegas prices!! No parking fees, no "Resort Fees" , no gambling losses!! 2024 for me, same, I stayed 6 nights in Grand Canyon, then Colorado, for 4 more days, which feels like some a discount vs Vegas. Maybe I never return?
Now they have risen the prices is the reason we hardly see people here anymore! Vegas wasn’t packed until speedway race tracks when that’s over Vegas is empty again. Might as well go to Miami if I’m paying those kind of prices!
Sad to see the fees balloon up as they have. I have always gone to Vegas 2-4 times a year in the past but will probably only go once a year around the WSOP going forward. The amount and size of all the additional fees is getting crazy. I am a poker player and will start going to other destinations that offer poker in other states from now on. Very sad!!!

Laughlin has dumpy old hotels.
Gambling is aaaa in laughlin
Thanks, Jacob, for all the 2024 updates.
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
My condolences to the family and friends....😢
@@joeaardvark9214 The new ruling makes it so that they have to clearly disclose the fee before you go to pay, that's all.
Should by law say $89 from the start, never show $60 except in a price breakdown. Make it easier to compare.
Another great video Jacob, appreciate it.
I remember when I visited Las Vegas in 2013 and I booked through Expedia and it said our hotel price included "ALL RATES AND FEES" and then we got hit with like a $30 per night "Resort Fee" I was livid... what part off ALL do they not understand?
Good resort fees are crazy out of hand and sometimes are even more expensive than the price of the room it's absolute robbery
I stopped going to the strip a long time ago, I patron Station Casinos located off the strip. Much better value.
Definitely
We went to Whiskey Pete’s to check out the Bonny and Clyde stuff. We liked the whole place, sad to see it close.
Resort fees what a RIP OFF!!
Merry Christmas Jacob 🌲
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
I live 1.3 hours from LV. It used to be a fun bargain. Now, with all the BS "fees" and constant price increases, I rarely visit.
$12 ATM fees is a deal! ATM fees at the strip clubs are like $60
That's why you take the hike out of the casino to CVS/Rite Aid/Walgreens and use their much cheaper ATMs.
One of my favorite update videos!
Farewell Mlife. 😅
I'm going to the Fremont Street Time of Your Life Party on New Years. Much more fun!
Awesome! Enjoy the trip!
I really wish they do away with resort fees
The Vegas my wife and I loved 4 times a year for 20 years is long gone. It’s lost its magic, charm, and fun. The entertainment Vegas provides is far less than it was and the prices are so much higher. Hence, Vegas loses our $40,000 spend per year, and sadly, it could not care less. By today’s Vegas standards, myself, my wife, and our money aren’t worth the effort.
Always look forward to your updates Jacob , keep up the good work. We will probably be there either March or April
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
This is y I'm gold with mgm resorts through being emerald with Royal Caribbean. I love that they do cross promotions with each other.
February's SuperBowl will be our last trip out going forward for quite a while. It's not that we can't afford it, but a question of not wanting to afford it any longer. 32 years in a row will be ending 2025!
Right. It's just not worth the loot. It's insane. And disrespectful
Right , it's not worth it any longer. It's disrespectful
Thanks for sharing, your content is always on point.

You ever do hiking related videos? Awesome channel and content man and thank you very much. 😎🤙
Hi Jacob it's Pat from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada 🇨🇦. Thanks for the update. Much appreciated 👍
@@geggs1 pathetic! At this rate, we won't be able to travel to USA. Won't be with it?!?
@@TravelingwithValeman77 I have to stay within Canada now. It’s double if not triple for flight and hotels in the US. Then spending money on top. $5000-$6000 in the hole for a week or less vacation. Madness.
Canada is a COMMUNIST COUNTRY.
JUSTIN TRUDEAU MUST RESIGN!
DONALD TRUMP - MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN ! 🇺🇸 ❤
I’m in LA and haven’t been back to Vegas in years. It’s just too expensive to visit now, especially when little has changed.
With several CASINOS in the INLAND EMPIRE of Southern California ... no reason to spend the GAS MONEY and take hours getting to Las Vegas 😊
Great video. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
I remember most people around me would go to Las Vegas, now hardly anyone. We have casinos a half hour away. No need to spend thousands to fly out to vegas.
Lol nobody cares about other casinos… Vegas is Vegas. Be real with yourself
@thegreat9481 vegas is vegas. 🤣 Do you mean overpriced and high crime?
@@Horseracingtip lol name me any place in the world like Vegas and come back and tell me if anyone gives a damn about you and your friends not visiting.
@thegreat9481 🤣 nobody cares about vegas anymore except corporate sports losers. High crime, hotel fees, parking fees, forgetaboutit.
@@thegreat9481Las Vegas is better than Atlantic City NJ
When the gaming economy is spoken about by Las Vegas TV pundits and talking heads, it surprises me when the voice of alarm is heard when the drop of gaming revenues is reported.
It seems none, in the local media, that expresses alarm of a drop in gaming revenues is willing to publicly acknowledge a reason behind that, which is: _Well, given the inflated prices for everything else along the Strip corridor, that takes away dollars that could have otherwise been spent on the gaming tables; slot machines; and sports books._
Always a great video. Thanks Jacob
You're welcome!
Good report.
I left at a good time, I’m not coming to these places anymore my New Year’s resolution
Thoughts, wishes and prayers to the family of the deceased. Stay safe out there everybody
People should stop going to vegas until they drop all those ridiculous charges and bring back free parking.
Really enjoy your informational videos & your gambling videos!! Happy Holidays to you!!
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
I refuse to go down to the strip because of F1 construction traffic
Come to Oklahoma we have casinos on every corner
Yes, they didn't ban resort fees. There will be resort fees but they have to disclose them upfront
Hey Jacob! Would be cool to see a vid on failed vegas projects
Resort fees are a rip off which is why I only stay at hotels with no resort fees such as Four Queens.
Hmmm, they keep raising prices and revenue goes down... I wonder how many times they will do that before they get the message - prices are too high?
I agree with @SaltySouthTexan! Corporate greed on the strip. Avoid the strip and stay D-town support the locals of Vegas. Thanks Jacob for the 411 on Vegas happs.
Good video Jacob
I use to go to Vegas for vacation every year. 2024 I did not even go. I was over the price increase.
Very sad!!!
