I can see why Arianism held so much sway, it's well thought out and almost convincing.

Read the book 'The God of Jesus' by Kegan Chandler. He covers this topic in much detail so you can hear both sides of the debate. Most are one sided and unbalanced.

..and actually reading some of the works of the Council of Nicea makes me wonder what MORE out there now should or could be taken as "canonical"...it makes it good to know..yet infinitely more confusing..lol.

24:45 Isn't this Apolinarism? To say the logos replaced the rational soul while the body was human.

The lord created earth and all in 7 days. It didn't say "begot" the earth. Did no ancients argue this? Or is my understanding off?

This is the BEST.."good heresies are mostly true."...I'm finding that to be ABSOLUTELY CORRECT...now if you haven't watched the video, or studied the history IN CONTEXT of THAT TIME..don't misunderstand..and confuse it with TODAY. But Christianity was very NEW at the time..and people did have MIXED MOTIVES..as in the writings of the Council of Nicea you'll see that there are OTHER WRITINGS THEY CALLED CANONICAL..but chose to leave them out because they didn't want it read in public..also anything that was NEWER for THE TIME..was left out. Which has allowed me to "undo" some of the characteristics that have been imposed on me to ONLY trust what's "in the Bible" and EVERYTHING ELSE..is wrong..so not true....BUT...you had ALSO REALLY do your homework on sources as well. That's really the tricky part and why I feel Bruce REALLY is the best teacher I have ever heard of. I mean even the best of the past hasn't necessarily had access to the technology to pull together all the relevant works available in which would have taken 50 lifetimes to do..and still be forgotten or lost with papers as we have the internet today..I can't say enough about all these works of Bruce.. people who don't know about him.. REALLY are missing out on priceless education you can't find ANYWHERE ELSE.

    Central points of Arianism
    2. God creates all things voluntarily
If by this you mean, “all things that God creates, God creates voluntarily,” then it is true that Christians agree.
However, if by this you mean, “God creates all things, and creates all things voluntarily,” then it is false that Christians agree: God did not create evil, therefore it was not God’s volition.

Isaiah 45:7 (KJV) I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things].

Phillip Mahar this does not mean evil itself comes from God. It means that what we call evil does. The Hebrew word for “evil“ in this verse is more akin to the meaning of the contemporary English word “calamity.”

@@phillipmahar8674 Evil is that which trangresses the will of God. humans having free will have the ability to fall into carnality thus doing that which is against the will of God and ultimately opposite to that which is Good
