I have played in barricades for many years. I liked the 2017 barricade boost the most until these came along which I like even better (bought 3 pair still wearing 1st pair after several months just starting to wear out) super stable, good cushioning ,very comfortable after a few hours of play. excellent performing shoe. Tried other brands like Asics court FF2's etc... none of them compares to this shoe for me. FF2 didn't offer anywhere near the support and stability which resulted in ankle strain & pain under my big toe while playing(FF2 felt flimsy). Glad the barricades are back no more foot or ankle pain & solid performance
Man I had my Barricades 1.0 since early 2000s and they finally fell apart this week. 20 year life, incredible shoe! Just purchased these 2021 barricades today so i'm excited to see how these play out.
I just received my new women's Adidas Barricade today. I SO wanted to love these! I've always loved the fit and cushioning of the Bounce but I thought I'd give the Barricade a try. I put them on & wore them around the house for a while. I'm not a fan at this point. I don't like being a Debbie Downer but this is my personal experience. I've always worn Size 8 in Adidas tennis shoes so that's what I ordered. These are almost too small but an 8 and a half would be too long. They are very stiff out of the box & feel clunky. The stiff uppers across the toe box dig into the top of my toes when my foot bends. The neoprene tongue doesn't lie flat, it wrinkles up. And unfortunately, they are hot...and I'm not even playing tennis...yet! ARGH!! I wanted them to work but sadly will be returning them.
@@TheTennisMentor perhaps a sort of guide we could follow. Including how to prepare day before, and the day of the match. Perhaps you could explore tactical, mental, physical, nutritional. I don't know if that really helps. Let me know if you want other video ideas, I have plenty. Thanks so much for the great content you upload :)
I wore Barracades for years until the last several when I could not get them. I switched to New Balance 806. Because I teach I am on the court with them for 5-6 hours a day. The thing I am looking for the most in a shoe is underside foot support and cushion (protection from the hard surface). My question on these shoes is if they have the same underfoot support as the old Barracades.
Loved your review Ashley, and purchased myself a pair last week. That said, my experience with them is very different so far. The Geofit bubbles in the heel are rubbing really badly on the inside of my heel, causing really bad blisters and significant physical pain. Today was my fourth session with them (roughly two hours each), and they're still not breaking in. Really disappointed with them - I'll give them another week, but I'm already regretting my purchase :-(
Sorry to hear that Adam, but thanks for posting it here for others. Mine were stiff at the start but mine gave in much sooner than yours seemed to! I have had similar feedback from others though. I would put some tape on your heel in the meantime and give it a little longer, once they feel more comfortable you should feel them performing well. IMO, the old SoleCourt Boosts were the most comfortable adidas shoes. It’s a shame they don’t make them any more. I have heard there are 1 or 2 new shoes coming out soon though!
@@TheTennisMentor hiya Ashley! Just thought I'd let you know - they're finally broken in :-) I let my blisters heal over a couple of weeks, and tried the Barricades again yesterday at weekly group drills. No problems :-)
Hi Ash, I've been thinking of getting a barricade for a while, so I tried my friend's barricade. He wore a size 43 EU which fit the sides of my feet perfectly, snug. It felt really hard and stiff though, i wonder if it gets better after breaking in. But when I tried stopping from a run, my big toe bumps into the front of the shoe, I imagined it would hurt more if i were running full-speed. Does this ever happen to you? Or you avoided this because you went a size up? I usually wear size 44.
nice video, well done. However i'm really not a fan of these shoes. I've been wearing solecourt boost for the last 2-3 years since they've been out and they are far superior in my view. Barricade 2016,17,18s, perfectly good, but these new ones are very stiff, are too high in the achilles area, not nearly as cushioned under heel or toe as the solecourt boost and i also developed blisters under the balls of my feet having worn them twice. Unfortunately i cant get hold of solecourt boost any more for love nor extreme amounts of money and so i'm having to look to other manufacturers as i dont like the adizeros either. Please bring back solecourt boost adidas!
Thanks for the comments Charles, I totally agree with you on the SoleCourt Boosts… such a comfortable shoe!! The boost midsole in the solecourts are great for comfort but not so great for speed. You’ll notice that most pro’s that wore them had a hybrid with a different midsole. However, for me spending all day on court, they cushioning was great! The barricades aren’t as soft but have definitely become more comfortable since wearing in! I wonder if adidas will find a way to add more comfort to this performance/stability based shoe!!
I've used the last version of this shoe and it was pretty good. Would be great to see it come back. However, that huge lettering is not really my taste. I've always loved the triple stripe so I don't quite understand the need to be so loud. Thanks for the video.
I have these. I regret them. I have always worn various adidas tennis shoes and always liked them. These however, seem to fit strange on me in a few ways: The tongue does not lie smooth on the top of my foot when the shoe is tied, the shoes have caused me a lot of blisters near the inside of my arches, the laces and curved tongue part make it hard to tie tightly. Aside from all that, I will say they are super durable. Probably worn them 15 total times so hoping maybe they break in more soon and hopefully that will improve the issues
Great video Ashley and nice review!! The break-in period for Barricades always put me off but these definitely look a bit softer!! What other soles are available in them?
Hi I'm considering getting 1 for casual/fashion wear, I tried UK9 (my true size) n it's stupid fit. I prefer more space for casual wear, thinking of getting UK10 (2 size up) since it's only 1cm more. Any input from you?? Greatly appreciated
your pick between Courtjam Control vs Asics Gel challenger 13 vs Adidas Gamecourt 2? Or should I spend more bucks and buy Wilson Rush pro ace as I'm getting it at half the price? All the shoes mentioned above are in sale (half price)
Long-time Barricade fan here. However, when the new version came out, I was extremely put off by the large "Adidas" name on the inner sidewall. I kept putting off purchasing it until they came out with the color I bought. It's a white shoe with blue stripes, but, the "Adidas" is also printed in white, so, it's not as noticeable. Overall, I like the shoe very much. It is, IMHO, quite unlike previous Barricades, particularly when putting it on. The flap under the strings takes some getting used to, as do the pads on the inside. But, I am quite happy with them. Just being able to play in new Barricades ( instead of my beaten up old ones) does wonders for my mental aspect, not just my physical prowess. P.S. Did yours squeak too when you first put them on? Drove my wife crazy until I got it stopped by tightening the strings more. 😋
Thanks for the width commentary, I need especially a decent with toebox as some shoes that are suppose to be considered wide still dont have a wide enough toebox, do they run as long as sole court boost, I wear a 13, but wear a 12 and a half in sole court boost and does the heel feel more elevated as I like low to the ground feel as sole court boost just dont like extra wide heel in sole court boost
What’s your normal shoe size? So you went half a size up from your normal? For sole court boost I wore a size 9.5 for ubersonic and all my other tennis shoes I wear size 10. Would getting size 10 for the barricades be alright?
I am wearing them mainly on clay and artificial grass and they’ve been great! Most multi court soles are now well suited to clay with their herringbone pattern
Without being a physio, I guess it really depends on what affects your knees. Their midsole, being bounce, is more cushioned than the ubersonics ‘lightstrike’ but not as soft as the solecourt boost midsole. And the same goes for the weight of the shoe, they sit in the middle. If cushioning helps your knees then the solecourts could be good?
Haven't tried this version but I owned 3 previous generations of Barricades and can't say that I'm a fan. Durability is incredible but they're not exactly comfortable. After a whole day on court or having played 2 matches in a tournament + all the waiting around and my feet / knees / back etc, feel shot to pieces due to the Barricades. Nike Cage 4s or GP Turbos for me as lightyears more comfort.
As much as I love the design, I am so disappointed with this model. Back cushions ruin after a short period and the tongue wrinkles, which hurts the top part of your sole. Terrible value for the price
These suck. The heel support digs into the achilles. The shoe is unnecessarily hard to get into AND out of. Just rerelease the solecourt boost which is an alltime classic.
I just got mine, tried for the first time today but I have blisters on both feet on the part of the Achilles tendon, can you recommend something to help with that?
It could've been a great looking shoe if it was not for the HUGE adidas text, this just ruins it. There is not one single person I have spoken with that likes this cosmetic decision, big MISS from Adidas with this one IMO.
Thank you, I fully agree still. Their ego got too big with this model. Still seems like a pretty good shoe, I'm being tempted to forgive them and still buy this one as I'm about to need a new pair.
See my reply. I was put off also but they came out with a white shoe with white Adidas lettering that isn't as noticeable. I bought them and am quite happy.

Thanks Emi!
The previous Barricade (Boost & Bounce) was the 2018 version. It worked well for my foot. Can't wait to get a pair of these.

great review once again :) Would love to see a video on how to prepare for a match :)
Thanks Adrien! Sounds like I good idea, could you be more specific? Are you thinking of physical preparation? Nutritional? Mental? Let me know!

Can I use this for basketball outdoor
I had these given to me for a Christmas present. And I can tell you, I feel like I'm using a Ferrari for shoes! XD
Hi, do they run small ? I generally go for 8 UK size. Is it recommended to go for a size up ?
The best barricade shoes was the one being use by Novak.

Thanks Fabio! At the moment, I believe just multi-court, I’d imagine they’ll be bringing out a clay court version too!
Is it comparable to any other non-adidas shoe you've tried before?

Bad lacing: The laces are easy to slip off.
Huge logo: The ADIDAS logo is too big. Not stylish at all.
is tennis shoes are same with padel shoes

Nice review, probably I'm going to stay with SoleCourt.
Thanks… I love my solecourts!
Just got mine in a couple days ago. They are taking a while to break in. Did you have any problem with sizing?
They definitely take time to break in but sizing for me has been standard!

How do they fit? True to size?
Yes they do! A bit wider than Ubersonic if you’ve worn them
I have a US size 7 on my sole court boost and the fit is not snug. Would I be ok with size 7 on this new model or should I consider a 7.5 US
I wear an 8 in Solecourt boost and 8.5 in Barricade and both fit well!

For sole court boost I wore a size 9.5 for ubersonic and all my other tennis shoes I wear size 10. Would getting size 10 for the barricades be alright?
Yeh, I went for the same as my ubersonics (half a size up from my solecourt boosts)

That’s the main reason for buying them for me is durability so I hope these ones last like the previous few they released. 🤞
Why is this pair so rigid? Like it hurta the toes after 1 hour or so
Still has 6 mo durability?
As much as I love the design, I am so disappointed with this model. Back cushions ruin after a short period and the tongue wrinkles, which hurts the top part of your sole. Terrible value for the price

I miss the SoleCourt boosts!! Apparently adidas have now solved the problem with the Achilles rubbing with a softer heel cushion and a softer upper!
I just got mine, tried for the first time today but I have blisters on both feet on the part of the Achilles tendon, can you recommend something to help with that?
They do take time to break in. A good pair of socks can help (the kind with extra cushioning in the heel/Achilles) or plasters/band aids)
Looks like a good blend of comfort and durability, adidas spelt out on the side looks really chav though
blister machine
I have flat feet and this is absolutely terrible for people with little to no arch. Asics still the best for me
Which model in Asics?
This shoes suck. Stepanoe Tsitsipas now refuses to wear it because it caused his foot injury during 1st round match at the US open
I really wanted to like them but they are sooooo uncomfortable… Thank god I didn’t end up buying them.
