  • How to Talk to Your School About Dyslexia - Working to get your child the right kind of classroom support and accommodations for dyslexia in school can feel confusing. For example, did you know that schools often use the terms “reading disability” or “specific learning disability” instead of dyslexia? A good place to start is with your child’s school counselor. They can work with both you and your child’s teachers to make a plan to help your child learn in ways that are best for them. Make sure your child feels comfortable telling you and their teachers which parts of the plan are working and where they could use more support.
Dyslexia may be new to your child’s teacher, but the more you work to help your child succeed in school, the more you are helping other children with dyslexia succeed in school too.
