Money has nothing to do with truth or BS. But most of what has a price tag is BS. But there are some serious books, classes and sites that are worth what they charge. I think it has to do more with subscriptions and dogmatic requirents of belief in someone's or something's faith. For example, in chile, luminary is nota even available, but that doesn't mean that russell is guff.

If it truly is 'guff', per se, then it is NOT new-age at all. Dismissing everything one doesn't comprehend by labeling it 'new-age' is a lazy habit perpetuated by journalists.

I seem to have circled around in my thoughts while I was viewing this to something that is often said in Recovery: "Take what you need and leave the rest." When she pointed out that we are actually fortunate to be living in this century, I was thinking that people no longer empty chamber pots into the street, women don't wear long dresses all the time, and we have indoor plumbing and electricity. Some of the things she says I agree with, and some of them I don't. That is the beautiful thing about going to meetings - you learn that just because someone else has a different take on things than you does not make them a jerk. Who knows, that person could think you are one too when you offer up your own two cents no matter how right or justified you believe you are.

Russell's patience and open-mindedness (despite his obvious discomfort) helped me to try to LISTEN to and find some seeds of truth in what she was saying. And I think it's about being accepting of oneself in this world and allowing oneself to actually LIVE in this world as it is. I don't buy the more consumerist angle of her argument, but I do know that despite many and most of my efforts to become more spiritually awoken through yoga and meditation and practising ahimsa and pursuing write thought, action and livelihood, I still so often feel at odds with this world. One of the key hurdles that has plagued me is the age-old question "Who's right?". I believe that's a question that doesn't get answered until we shuffle off this mortal coil. But I believe we are supposed to continue searching nonetheless. OUR journey. The amount of effect that spirituality has in each of our respective lives is directly proportionate to how much we explore ourselves and the world around us looking for answers, hampered only by our humanity (that which binds us to the earth, he said metaphorically).

There’s an ever growing feeling of burning in the soul when you want to work only for what is necessary, and be useful only to what people feel when they meet you, while living in a society that demands your every waking moment from you. I feel Russell when he said toward the end that he has been hurt by capitalism. I have no greater desire than to wear blankets and roam a temple or nature tending to animals and having grand discussions of life with good food. But our reality is that to live your life the way you want only becomes your right if you’ve surmounted enough capital by doing someone else’s biding.

Sam Glazier I got that too, but like all these "angels" that are manifesting for us at this truly remarkable time, "her way" is just a tiny piece of the jigsaw puzzle we have all been given to complete as best we can. Couple of clues that I have picked up on my journey. Forget convential "wisdom" by starting to look for the corner pieces and straight edges. This puzzle has no boundaries. Start with the pieces that YOU know to be true, not what your parents, siblings, partners, teachers, priests, bankers, politicians etc. have told you. How to know it's true???.....GO WITHIN yourself and "pray" (wish, desire, mentally express) with your heart to be shown the truth. Truth is almost always revealed when a falseness or lie is revealed,/admitted. Thirdly, whilst "time is of the essence", it's more important that you acknowledge that you have to participate in the puzzle/game/challenge. You cannot sit it out. The pieces will come to you "hot and heavy" in the next 6-8 weeks due to (once in 26,000 year) planetary "energy influences", however they have been coming for some people already for hundreds of years so it's more than likely that the evolution and innerstandably full "completion" of the puzzle might take a similar period of "time".....that is if you believe that "history repeats itself".....whatever that means!
Thanks Russel and all your guests for helping us on our journey. Love and peace to all mankind.

I really resonate with both of their sides. I think that at it's core, Biet is preaching moderation and balance, saying that it's possible to be mindful and "enlightened" while still partaking in capitalist society and consumerism (which by our current understanding is unsustainable and destructive to both our external and internal environments) as long as you're able to excercise discipline, accepting your flaws and the flaws of the world, and learning to work/thrive within the parameters set.
Whereas Russel is saying that he's tried to ride the wave and balance too many times and been 'burned' or overwhelmed, falling back into negative behaviours and mindsets that he feels ultimately don't serve him on the path he wants to take.
Sometimes for addicts (and this goes for anything; from drugs, to sugar, social media, sex/masturbation, drama) it's just easier to quit/abstain from their vice than it is to constantly be at war with yourself to try and keep things in "moderation". Willpower is a finite resource, and the unnecessary stress you put on yourself by having your vice within arms reach can not only wear you down, with you ending up crumbling and falling back down a rabbit hole you spent x amount of time trying to claw yourself up from, but also can distract you from progressing in other areas of your life that you want to move forward in (projects, hobbies, career goals etc) because so much of your brain processing power is being dedicated to withstanding the pressure of not succumbing to this vice that you may love, but don't want to let go of.
I understand how Russel feels because Biet's ideas sound wonderful in concept, but I think either take a LOT of work to get yourself to a point to be able to resist these temptations of falling into the pitfalls of modern society, or just a certain type of person who may hold more natural resistances to these sort of things. It might just not be worth it to some.
I don't think her path is for everyone, and I think we should be realistic with ourselves about our own strengths and shortcomings.
This is coming from someone who is addicted to cannabis and chocolate. I've been trying to find a balance for years when it comes to cannabis, but it's so easy for me to just fall into an unhealthy habit and before I know it I'm blazing every day and doing nothing with myself, and my health deteriorates. Luckily it's not physically addictive, so I can take "breaks" every month or so and not feel any sort of adverse effects.
Chocolate I legit just cannot keep it in the house or my sweet tooth with kick in and won't stop until my stomach hurts lol.

If you are clairsentient, I suggest getting a low grade piece of tanzanite. It's very high vibrationally. Keep it in your auric field (carry it, or wear it) it raises vibrations and has a very supportive energy for those going through the dark night of the soul.

I came into this world crying my eyes out because for the love of god I had no idea what life was and it was scary and bright and full of sensation.
30 years later I still have no idea. Neither do the economic commentators on the news, or the physicists worrying about grants and publication, or politicians who have in these days cast aside the pretension of debate and now toss insults and defame each other. In most cases they have one thing I don't -- They think they know and think they know better. And they are missing out because of that.
There's something called the learning circle. It is an ever-growing circle that expands to include everything it encounters, excluding nothing. This is how I regard my experience of Being. I have to take it all in and let it speak to me. I can't single out anything and say "No. You have no place in my circle." In this respect I can understand her attempt to integrate all the baubles of the human experience into her greater philosophy. My experience tells me something different than hers does, and it seems that so does Russel's. But our experiences aren't done talkin' to us yet either.

As much as I can understand where she is coming from- and I haven’t read her book-so maybe I’m missing something-but my position on this clip is that You can still like yur nice things and yet be aware that none of it matters- where I completely disagree is that it sounds like complacency of inaction- u can still cry during your meditations and have empathy, but if you have a platform to really invoke change, or make daily contributions of the energy you project to the outside world--why would materialism even be part of the conversation. Creature comforts are just ego self soothing techniques so you don’t have to deal with how bad it really is nor invoke change. On a personal level- I’ve an average life, made some radical changes this year Bc something was missing- I found inspiration in my daughters autism to just be present since that’s where she is- and totally embarking on a new life path that doesn’t feed the fake mechanism of corporatization. I’m not saying I’m right- but what I am saying is that I will spend my time to commit myself to ensure that I will invoke change on my micro level Bc it’s the right thing to do- and I may have to function in a certain way for survival for now- but I’ll do it on my terms and no one else’s Bc I’m responsible for my own actions.,..I don’t believe we need the system to survive. We need ourselves and community-. And the complacency that I feel from her seems to come from an angle where she may be profiting off of it in some way-
Way-so why would you change that....🤔...but again maybe my perception is off... ☮️❤️☮️

As I have come to learn in my adult life when it comes to spirituality YOU do YOUR journey, whatever fits you is YOU personally this was a tad offputting, having been on a spiritual path for the majority of my adult life. I don't need someone to tell me this lady's way is the "better" way.
I 'm not vibing with this at all.
Personally I like my oneness with Source, but I can still be part of this world, my spirtiual path is to resonate with the higher energy of Source so that I resonate that energy and that which flows from me is of a higher energy, a higher intelligence. That does not mean I give up shopping or such. I buy what i need when I need it, not shopping for pleasure, or doing anything like that .. that isn't fulfilling to me at all.
Meditation, journaling, using crystals and essential oils, studying spiritual materials THAT is what fulfills me, sustains me, allows me to see things from a bigger scope than of being ego minded.
I think what she is saying is you can still be ego plus spiritual at the same time.. which makes 0 sense.
If we want the world to be better, we all need to come from a higher energy and those of us on a spiritual path know exactly what that means.
Resonating Source from within us, as us, through us to uplevel all around us or shall I say connect to the like souls around us so that our combined energy raises us - the group of us I'm speaking of here into a higher consciousness.
Not everyone will be able to do that but if enough of us do that things can change, maybe in small ways to start then larger ways.. but you can't do anything if you don't do that work.. if you know what I mean!

    In answer to the title.
It's actually very easy to separate Esoteric Spiritual Truth from New Age "guff".
If you can find it in obscure texts from long ago, it's Spiritual Truth, especially if it is concealed in occult meaning.
If you can break the information down, and find that it applies to modern political dynamics, especially current socio-political trends, then you can rest assured that you're consuming New Age guff designed to not only propagandise you as an individual, but also to sway your balance and polarise your spirit.
Texts like the Kybalion are highly spiritual in nature and put a lot of emphasis on the nature of Mind, this is Spirituality.
Socio-Political memes that sanctify concepts such as Melanin, or seek to push feminist ideology into your subconscious belief system under the guise of being Spiritual is ultimately being used to turn you into a tool for destroying your society and the self identity which true Spirituality encourages you to construct. This is New Age guff and is antithetical to Spiritual development.

It’s amazing how we have to find a way for these things to coexist, because there is no “going back” at this point, yet we must do it in a manner that does not exclude anyone because we have the means and resources to create a global sized difference both economically and spiritually

Bro here's a thing... I heard you mention that we need to change everyone else... But the problem with that is that people aren't necessarily looking to be changed in that way. It assumes a kind of leader mentality, which actually puts people off in many ways eh, if we're all looking for the same things fundamentally right... So I reckon that we focus ONLY on making ourselves an example of the best thing we can possibly conceive of and then, as a byproduct of that, there may be people, people who are astute enough to look, who will learn stuff just based off their own analysis. We don't need to focus on changing the world, we change ourselves and then that has a knock on effect like a ripple turning into a wave on the ocean of consciousness 💦🌊🌍

New age is a fusion of radical protestantism and eastern religions. Its protestant heritage is why imo it is a deeply atomistic form of spirituality, something that would be alien through a historical look at those eastern religions.

There’s a system in place that monopolizes our energy and redirect it towards the pursuit of materialism. Imagine a world wherein we all grew our food and recognized authenticity instead of differences. A world wherein the maintenance of harmony and the sharing of love motivated our actions and reactions. Am I an idealist? Or does anyone else think our collective consciousness can one day evolve to such degree?

The purpose of spirituality is to see the truth as the Buddha found:
    1) all compounded phenomenon are impermanent
    2) all things have no inherent existence
    3) all emotions are pain
    4) enlightenment is beyond concept
“Form is emptiness, emptiness is form”

Another thought occurred to me about this. It's like she's saying it's okay to cheat on your spouse or partner, as long as you are honest and respectful about it. There are some things in life where there is no middle-ground. Last year in March I walked into Lowes and saw an entire row of faucets. You had a choice of 45 different faucets to choose from. Then I walked into HomeSense and saw an entire row of coloured ceramic bunnies (for Easter). I had to ask myself this: is it worth destroying the planet so we can have the "ideal" faucet for our home, or so we can decorate our home for Easter with different coloured ceramic bunnies?
