Cannon Connect is a great idea but between the camera and the app it almost never actually works. Sucks tbh
Works on my android, got stuck on permission when trying to do iPhone.

I have a Canon EOS 650D, and that model does not have WiFi. Can I use the app in combination with, for example, a Toshiba flash air SD card? That card has WiFi in it. Or can I connect the camera with a cable to my iPad? Or does this app only work wireless?
Hi! I'll be honest, I've never used the wifi cards so I'm not totally sure how that works, but my understanding is that they only work with that card maker's mobile app and not something like the Canon app. I also think that the app is for wifi only and, while I'm not positive, I don't think it would work when you connect with a cable unfortunately.
On my canon when I go into the WiFi connection bit when it says waiting to connect, there isn’t a encryption key it just says AES nothing else? Can you help? I used to be able to connect no problem but recently I got a new phone so no clue what the encryption key is.
I'd recommend trying to clear the settings and start from 0 once again. Should help
I’ve done this before, had my phone connected in the past but deleted the app. Now I want to do it again but I never get past the wifi stage :( when I connect to my cameras wifi and go back to the app nothing happens and I’m stuck. Anyone know why or how to help??
What about when you are outdoors without WiFi my friend? Can you connect dslr with android phone through hotspot? Is it possible to transfer files with this way?

Yeah it should be possible but it will most likely depend on a number of factors how strong and fast of a connection you can get. Location, distance etc.

Hi! for the Camera Connect app it's just for mobile devices, and you can download the app called "Canon Camera Connect" from the app store. Hope that's what you were looking for?
@@acpfullsends5190 Yep! I think you should have 3 preset settings (for example iPhone, iPad and iPhone 2) ...but you can always erase those and start over with a new device if you need to too.

Which camera are you using? Does it have built in wi-fi?
i have a “eos rebel SL1”
my phone says could not find a connect station, check the network settings, and tap retry. How do I fix this?
I would reset everything and start from zero again step by step, hopefully that should fix anything that might have gone wrong.

I have canon EOS 700D and I couldn’t find connection settings!
Unfortunately the 700D does not have wifi built in so that's why :(

What if no prompt comes up when you open the app after doing all the previous steps?
I'd recommend checking the wifi connection in your phone settings to see if the camera shows up and is connected. If that doesn't help, delete all the settings (in the camera) and start again from scratch. Hope that can sort it out!

thanks for the video - I have used this in the past but don't remember having to input the encryption code every time is there a way to set a password that I can remember and not have to go thru this every time
Marcy Starnes you should only have to do that the first time, same as connecting to home WiFi. After that, just select the WiFi setting in the camera, connect on the phone and then open the app

Hi! Yes, the camera should create the wifi network and you connect your phone to that so you don't need an existing network to make it work :)

Connecting EOS 1DX Mark II question: Why is Wireless option greyed out?
when I go to connect I have two LAN type options and Wireless is greyed out. Other option is Wired.
Communication Settings>Enable>Network settings>Connection Settings>SET1>Connection Wizard>Smartphone>
I’ve enabled Connection…what am I missing? Is there another way to turn on Wireless?

Do I need to do these steps all the time when I want to download photos from my camera to the camera connect app? Or does it automatically do it ? after the settings are installed ?
There are a couple steps each time but not all of these. Basically you'll just turn the camera's wifi on, choose it in your phone's wifi list and then open the app from the 2nd time onward.

I don't believe the 100D has wifi unfortunately.
I can't find the info.. is it possibile to watch and listen a recorded video preview without downloading the file into the smartphone? On the Lumix app I can watch every single clip with audio instantly and no need to download the file from SD to smartphone. Is it possibile also with this app? Eos R and RP.

Hi! I actually haven't used this app in a while, but from my memory it will depend on which camera you have. Some cameras have more function over wi-fi than others (video monitoring, for example).

Hi... I don't have the camera myself but if it has built in wi-fi the process should be fairly similar to this. Maybe not identical but similar. If you're unsure, try searching google for the camera manual (should be downloadable from Canon's website) and search for the wifi page. That's probably better than I can do without the camera on hand, sorry!

Yes, you can. When you send JPEGs you have the option to resize when saving or save at the full resolution. That option doesn't apply to raw files though and when I sent a RAW file to my ipad and checked its resolution it was actually only 1920x1280. Not sure why, but the JPEGS will send full resolution anyway.
You can choose which card to read files from as well so if you save RAW to one card and JPEG to the other you can choose to sync your phone or tablet with either one.

Can you help? I open the app and it tells me to add camera descripton. Then it says can't find that camera. Yes the camera is all set up correct as I use it for the old EOS app which worked a treat until the last upgrade and now wont save images off the camera to the iPhone so was forced to Camera Connect. How many phones can connect at a time? Assuming just one. But wondering in a classroom setting.
You know, that's a good question. I had never tried it with more than one phone at a time, but for some reason I suspect it's only one. I don't have Canon cameras anymore unfortunately, so I'm not able to really check it myself. Sorry for the trouble!

if i wantd to transfer hd videos to the ipad and edit them on imovie do you think it would harm the ipad?
I'm not positive if you can actually save the videos to the ipad through this app or not, but either that way or another, sending the videos to your ipad and editing in imovie should be no problem as long as you have the memory for it.

I think the features differ by camera, so while some cameras allow start/stop for video, others may not.
