    Gotta love those solar roofs adding an extra half mile per day of range
    (They're useful for maintaining the 12V battery when parked up for a couple of weeks, but that's about it)

      Solar roofs on EVs is super cool, but yeah, the range boost can be modest depending on your location.

      It's always exciting to chat about where the EV world is headed, and the Aptera is one of those vehicles that feels like it's leading the charge! 🌞🚗💨

    The prices and battery tech need to come down in price and advance in capacity before electric vehicles really take over. Until then they will always be for the top few %.

    • @Electric-Rideables
      @Electric-Rideables  Рік тому +3

      You're hitting the nail on the head there. Affordability and battery tech are definitely the twin engines driving the EV revolution. Right now, it's true that the sticker shock can be a bit much for the average Joe and Jane.
      The good news is, battery tech is getting better and better. We're talking more juice in a smaller package and prices that don't make your wallet cry.
      It's just a matter of time before electric rides are as common as streaming your favorite show. And when that happens, we'll look back and say, "Remember when EVs were just for the few? What a ride it's been!" 🚗⚡🔋

    The use of naming the car a Mustang is answered by your question. Ford cheapens the people that have a collection of Classic Mustangs?

    • @Electric-Rideables
      @Electric-Rideables  Рік тому +2

      The decision by Ford to name their electric crossover the 'Mustang Mach-E' definitely stirred the pot. For many purists and collectors, the Mustang name is synonymous with a roaring V8 and the rumble of a classic American muscle car, not a silent, eco-friendly EV.
      It's a delicate balance for carmakers to honor their past while steering towards the future. Whether the Mach-E will become a beloved branch of the Mustang family tree or remain the black sheep is something only time will tell.

      That's a neat concept! It's like taking the chill factor of a skateboard, mixing it with the utility of a bike, and creating something that's both fun and functional. And if it's designed well, with the right materials and a sturdy build, you shouldn't have to worry too much about scratches or it looking second-hand too quickly.

    • @Electric-Rideables

      I totally get where you're coming from. The sticker shock on some of the latest EVs and e-bikes can definitely make them seem like they're just for the well-heeled crowd. But the cool thing is, as the tech gets more widespread and production scales up, prices are starting to come down.
      And let's not forget the second-hand market! It's like a treasure trove for snagging a deal on a ride that's still got plenty of life in it.

    I wonder how many of these silly expensive vehicles will still be made in 12 months time?
    Maybe some have already gone tits up as this video was being made.
    Much like EVs once you owned one, you're unlikely to get another.

    • @Electric-Rideables
      @Electric-Rideables  Рік тому +3

      You've got a point there. The EV market is kind of like the Wild West right now, with all sorts of players big and small trying to stake their claim.
      And about folks not going back to EVs after owning one, that's an interesting take. It seems like there's a bit of a divide. Some people catch the EV bug and never look back, loving the quiet ride and the instant torque. Others might miss the rumble of an engine or get tripped up by charging logistics. It's all about that personal experience, and maybe the tech just needs to mature a bit more to win over the skeptics.

    I’d take the KIA over the Lamborghini just for its daily drivability. Total cost to operate per mile and average maintenance down time are other huge factors that firmly stand on the KIA’s side.

    • @Electric-Rideables
      @Electric-Rideables  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely, your point hits the nail on the head! 🎯 Choosing the KIA over the Lamborghini for daily drivability is a smart move. It's not just about the glamor but also about practicality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability. Considering the total operating cost and maintenance downtime, the KIA stands out as a sensible choice for everyday use. It's great to see a preference for functionality and efficiency in the world of flashy cars! 🚗💡

      After spending some time in Korea years ago, interacting with Kia’s built for their home market, I knew how great of a product they would end up being in the US some day. That day has almost come to pass. If they’d come out with a Miata competitive model. I would snatch it up for sure.
      It really is crazy how most folks judge a car. They’ll spend hard earned money on a vehicle that starts out stupid expensive and will cost them just as much to maintain over its service life. Plus!, it rides like a covered wagon on regular streets.

    You didn't show the 1930's Portuguese electric taxis with autonomy higher than present Tesla or the rest. They had stations where they just took out the battery to be recharged and pun one fully charged in, in about 5 minutes. Taxi driver didn't even have the time to finish his coffee. We are reinventing the wheel and in terms of free energy we are beyond the Neanderthal man.

      Still, with anything as futuristic as flying cars, you'd want to see a track record of safety and reliability that's as solid as the ground before taking off from it. Let's keep our eyes on how this tech evolves; it's bound to be an interesting ride! 🚗✈️🔍

      It's a bit of a paradox, isn't it? The tech that could benefit so many is initially so out of reach. But there's a silver lining. Just like tech in the past, these innovations often start at the top and eventually trickle down. Remember when flat-screen TVs were the domain of the rich and now they're everywhere? Hopefully, we'll see that with EVs and e-bikes too. As production scales up and the tech becomes more commonplace, prices should drop, making them more accessible to the 'peasants' among us.

    Why are the EV auto makers not using fuel cells to power their vehicles. Batteries pollute with lithium and cobalt.

    • @Electric-Rideables
      @Electric-Rideables  Рік тому

      While fuel cells, especially those using hydrogen, offer a clean energy alternative, there are several challenges. These include the cost of production, the infrastructure for hydrogen fuel, and the efficiency of fuel cells compared to batteries. On the other hand, you're right about the environmental concerns with lithium and cobalt mining for batteries. It's a balancing act between current technology, environmental impact, and practicality.

    I absolutely loved this video's information on new modern technology. just WOW. So super cool. some are really interesting and others are super wow. The air-filled catamaran... It may be slow but how many double-decker crafts can you roll up and put in the back of your truck. No trailer is required. electric motorcycles YES I see the market for those and I am not an electric vehicle supporter. Who knows, if... IF the price gets low enough, perhaps, but I also realize they aren't saving the l-anet as some would try to convince. When the electric you charge with is generated from fossil fuels, you're an IDIOT to think you're doing good by buying and using that product. Otherwise I am super impressed with these vehicle toys

    • @Electric-Rideables
      @Electric-Rideables  10 місяців тому

      I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed the video and found the showcased modern technology as fascinating as I do! It's amazing how innovation continues to push boundaries, offering us gadgets and vehicles that were once the stuff of science fiction. The air-filled catamaran you mentioned is a perfect example of how creative thinking can lead to practical, yet incredibly innovative solutions. The idea that you can have a double-decker craft that's portable enough to fit in the back of a truck without needing a trailer is mind-blowing and speaks volumes about the ingenuity behind such designs.

      Where would you like to put the panels ? Minimum 200W panels are roughly a square meter surface area. Charge time would be well beyond 4 hrs (ex: 14ah charging @ 2a about 4 hrs). Charging on-the-fly isn't feasible Yet, at least not without downtime. Best solution is more batteries.
