  • No need to process the exterior of a car with a brush. You can do it in minutes with this technique.

    We are having people at our apartment complex go around attempting to open car doors. How do we send these prints off to the local police department for comparison through the national criminal registry?

      Certainly never, for it's not a crime to touch a car handle and you're not police officers, so you could have taken fingerprints from anywhere just to keep the police busy or to vilify another person. Plus those handles would also contain totally legit fingerprints from the owners which you must not take without their permission, as long as they're no suspects of any crime. Ask their lawyers. It's rather an infringement of your own to smeer something on other people's cars' door handles. ;)

    I learn so much from your videos. I always check to see if a new one is up before I process a scene. Thanks!

    My understanding is gloves should be used. And too much powder can disfigured the ridges.
    What kind of gloves should be used?
    & what method is used to remove excess powder?

    • @profmccutch
      @profmccutch  7 років тому

      LC Roberts you can use any gloves. I like the nitrile gloves. You can use a regular brush to develop the print a little more and remove any unnecessary powder.

    I have had someone playing with my wing mirror on my car and it was moved overnight. I am in a camp situation with a woman who has been in a mental unit if you argue with her the result is some type of interference with your stuff i need to now wipe down and take fingerprints off the glass

    • @profmccutch

      Most police agencies have limited budgets. If you can process scenes cheaper, it allows you to purchase other equipment. No need to spend $20 bucks when you can spend 5.

    Never use this technique for any genuine crime scene. Your either going to over powder the print or remove ridge detail

    • @profmccutch
      @profmccutch  5 років тому

      richard barrath Thanks for watching and commenting. You can use this technique if you practice it. It is a cheaper alternative to the commercially produced dust mitts they sell.
