I’m usually not a fan of fancy technology like this but this is actually very cool and will save a lot of money in shells and a lot of time in guesswork. I like that it tells the speed of the clay because it will help you with leading different birds and different angles
I have never actually used the Garmin Xero. When Garmin told me they where not interested in a review because they weren't selling many and that they weren't going to put any new efforts behind it, it seemed like a dead product, or at-least a product they didn't even care about. Without hands on experience with the Xero, the Shot Tracker seems to have A LOT more to offer. It's hard to say what it the best approach, but for those that are very serious about improving, a combination of coaching, tech, and live fire ammo along with dry practice seems like a winning combo.
I started reloading to keep my costs down. The art of getting a good deal on components is a fun challenge!! But scour the web and can find great deals.
I bought a ShotCam a few months back. From my perspective, the ShotCam is more of a shot recorder and is somewhat limited as a teaching tool. In retrospect, I wish I had known about this technology. The amount of information it provides with each shot is incredible. Seems to be a rather valuable teaching tool and just what you need for your practice sessions.
I have one. It’s a very useful tool with one big caveat: It weighs 6.5 ounces and mounting one on your barrel will make you swing your gun differently. So the data that you get while using it is mitigated by the fact that once you take the Shot Tracker back off, you may or may not be able to see improvements in the changes you’ve implemented because the gun will feel lighter. However, when you’ve gone down the rabbit hole of “why do I keep missing that shot”? - The Shot Tracker can definitely help you discover why.
Wow, amazing product. Thanks for doing the review. Any chance you can bring those engineers on and let them talk a bit about the technology behind it? I just bought a camera system to improve, but this seems to be much more impactful.
Any tool that can give you realtime feedback is a great help. I’ve toyed with getting a shotkam but just haven’t done it yet. This gives another option. Thank you sir.
So I've had one for a while. It has HUGE potential. For me, it's just not there yet. There has been a software upgrade - so I've yet to get that out and try it. It really struggled with dark backgrounds/low light/tree grassy hill background situations (shot detected no clay found - not 75 yard clays!) - just does not see the target - often! The software is bit iffy, battery life bad and the setup is a bit fiddly - it's just hard work if it does not see the clays. The camera is far below the from quality of the Shotkam, Shotkam's set up is super easy, the internal battery (although not user changeable) is at least long lasting and compact. Shot tracker is quite bulky and noticeable on the barrel (there's a lot of smart stuff in there I guess). The additional weight over a Shotkam is noticeable (to me). In the product's defense - when it works (not reliably enough for me) it is FANTASTIC. The one time it really worked - it was game-changing. I actually hit a target 100% of humans failed to explain to me. I really want this to be a great product - I really want to see the next hardware version.
So I have been watching a ton of your videos lately and love how informative they are! I wanna get my first inertia shotgun with a budget up to $1300. My main use would be for grouse and turkey hunting and would like to get a 20ga. Do you think the best pick would be a M2 field? Thanks again for all the great content! Keep up the good work!
How do you use the Shotkam to better your shooting? Can you actually see where you are missing? It just seems like it’s hard to see on the videos I’ve viewed on UA-cam. I’ve been on the fence with getting one.
I've been looking for a shooters review for this product for a while. Great stuff, as always. Is it worth it, was the biggest question that I have. From your review I'll be looking to buy one.
Alright. I was looking at this and I was glad to see a review from a trusted source. Alright Shotcam, take my money. Well I might have to wait a couple of pay cheques.
@TargetFocusedLife I saw your review on the BR110 and enjoyed it. Also saw your review with Travis on the fabarm all sport. I've been considering an over under to supplement my Beretta Teknys 391. Value wise, Rizzini vs fabarm n2 all sport, any opinon. Coming back down to Defenders anytime soon?
You pretty much knew already exactly where you hit and what it would say. Experience wins but may cut learning curve shorter for newer shooters. Key is in the setup. It’s great to know where you’re missing but if setup and technique are wrong, where you missed doesn’t really matter.
The biggest thing that I learned personally while using this for the video is that I really need to work on my approach and mount. Knowing where you are missing or hitting is great, but analyzing your mount and move is big too.
I could use the help but at $!,000 and it doesn't work on my Side x Sides --- it's a no. Then again I could buy an over/under and a shot-tracker ..........
Spend the money on lessons from a qualified coach instead. Hint: "NRA Certified Instructor" does not mean the coach is qualified. This product will tell you where you missed, not why you missed. The why you missed, is way more valuable.
@@TargetFocusedLife I’ve personally used a ShotKam for my own analysis and it seems to work. Granted you know the method and what you’re looking at and are only referring to the footage to see what move you actually executed
It is nice the Garmin sits on the ground, but that also means it tells you nothing about your approach to the target which was one of the biggest things that was revealed to me while using the ShotTracker. There isn't much out there on the Garmin Xero for trapshooting, but based on what I have seen. It looks extremely limited in function. You have to move and re-align every-time you move. Do you have any experience with the Garmin?
@TargetFocusedLife yes I use it for my HS team. Not only does it track your shot, it does reaction time, shot fps, keeps score, it does a lot. Yes you do move it with the shooter or you can leave it at any station. Very useful for my team. Doesn't add weight to the front of the gun either
@@TargetFocusedLife the garmin is great, it identified several problems that we corrected using the data from the garmin. it provides an amazing amount of data and analysis on your game. i was expecting it to be overhyped BS or not effective, but was pleasantly suprised to find out how accurate it is!
After missing three , mine told me to take up lawn bowling .lol
🤣

Our hs clay team has the garmin, I think it's fun, but between buying tech or buying ammo, ammo wins for me.

For rent sounds amazing. I feel like this is one of those things that I use a lot for a short period of time and then it just collects dust somewhere.
if you offer this for rent at your club, I am there the next weekend.

Absolutely. Thanks for watching.
please do a set up/debugging video on shot tracker. I need help making sure it is calibrated correctly. thank you

hummm, that is what I am finding too. Our back ground is hillside and trees. it says i made a great/good shot when i missed
I am on a high school Trap Team out of Iowa and we have two of those shot trackers and I would certainly say they helped a lot
The rent idea is smart. There is no way I would buy one of those but if the price was right I would rent one for a day.
How well would this work on ground or green valley shots.

His son shoots a franchi affinity3 in 20 gauge. they are nice guns.
Some guys have this unit at my club. Too much error. Give me the ShotKam any day.

Thanks for saying this. I just ordered a ShotKam last night and had never heard of this product before.
We need an explanation of the icons displayed in a shot report display and their relationship to what is displayed.
The ShotTracker is too expensive for many people.
Can this be used when hunting ?
Do you know what shot detection threshold means on the app?
Also do you reset bore-site with every new session?
Will this work on live birds as opposed to clays?

Yah for$1400
Very very interesting video!!! Does it handle targets such as loopers and battue?
Are these available in the UK?
is there a trick to the right background? I just got one for Christmas and it is't reading my misses
I'm old I need lock, tone fire! lol
Alright. I was looking at this and I was glad to see a review from a trusted source. Alright Shotcam, take my money. Well I might have to wait a couple of pay cheques.
Interesting product. Thanks for showing it.
Sounds and looks like a great unit, here in 🇭🇲 we only see the Shotkam, would you know to if you are going to ship to Australian
How do they calculate the distance to the clay ?
THATS a good learning tool how can i get one nad got one for hand guns
Do you think it would work with duck hunting or is it just a range tool?
Can it to programmed to say “Hey man nice shot” exactly like that song by Filter?
Steve what over under shotgun are you shooting?
Rizzini BR110 Sporter IPS. We have a review of it on the channel.
@TargetFocusedLife

I have had this for awhile but it’s still a little confusing for me. I wish someone near me that could walk me through it and explain a few things
Technology is amazing!
what gun does he have that mouthed on? Normally runs through his setup at the start :?
Rizzini BR110 Sporter IPS
sits very nicely! Great review
All blue sky backgrounds - I'm sure it will find its own limitation on rabbits and brush/scrub/wooded backgrounds.
Wow, great idea but way out of my budget range.
But what about rabbits?
Should have started with price so I could check out then lol.
I could use the help but at $!,000 and it doesn't work on my Side x Sides --- it's a no.

Nice❤❤

All the NRA does is make lives more difficult for gun owners by introducing more bans and fake instructors.
I can hear every old timer telling to shut that thing up on the clays course. They should tie the auto to Bluetooth hearing protection.
It already does this.
retay masai mara vs sbe3?????
Is this not just a worse version of the ShotKam??
Depends what you are trying to do. Record a hunt, get the Shotkam. Analyze your shot and grow your skill, get the ShotTracker.
@@TargetFocusedLife I’ve personally used a ShotKam for my own analysis and it seems to work. Granted you know the method and what you’re looking at and are only referring to the footage to see what move you actually executed
Looks huge…. Like a beta version. Probably outrageously expensive too. Great video tho
Their website says $1000, well worth the expense... assuming you make your living being a competition clay shooter.
The ShotTracker didn't win me over with flashy aesthetics, but as they say, its not the outside, but the inside that matters.
All depends on your goals and income I suppose.
Good review.
Also, what shotgun are you shooting during video??
$1000, lol, no way in hell...$500 maybe
Do they offer one that talks s**t the whole time
Garmin has been doing this for years but you don't need to attach it to your gun

A thousand bucks for this is absurd. We have gotten too dependent on technology.
You lost the sport! The game is gone if you need Eletronic's to tell you how to shoot !
$1000... is a joke
does it work for drones?
