At least if torps made the same damage to friends as to enemy (and all the rest of the guns.)
That would force players to be fair more careful - and aware of friendlies intention, and force everyone to communicate..... hard on the EU server.
I think the streaming comments were dead on. But this is simply absurd and clearly WG lost any attachment to history or reality. WG names this with a Japanese name, magically allows all sorts of reload boosters and magic torpedoes and lumbering along is . It's simply ridiculous.
My Iowa gets killed instantly by everything - 16" point blank into whatever - 2 overpens, torp protection (right...) and all misses after that. Premium ship fires back - 3 cit's.
If war gaming wanted to drift back to reality, the carriers would simply rape you... as in clean the ocean free. The sinking of the Yamato resulted in the loss of 10 American aircraft and 12 men - vs. 3k for the Yamato. And it's never mentioned the heavy cruiser, etc that went down as well.
The higher the tier you go, the stupider it gets.... I'm okay with some wiggle room in the game, but this is just stupid. After 1942, all American cruisers had radar. On all the time. The Japanese were slaughtered. Reloading torps at sea? Not going to happen. etc...
If the Imperial Navy had the Oii and Kitakami ready for the Solomons campaign in 1942, the war in the Pacific might have progressed VERY differently. US battleship/destroyer and cruiser/destroyer task forces operating in restricted waters would have had no answer for these Long Lance broadsides. This was especially true as the U.S. Navy leadership did not believe the scattered reports of the Long Lance performance.

To fix this broken ship they need to take away the smoke, and change conceal to 10.5. Otherwise no-one should ever play against it, just quit the game.

When I was still playing WoWs, I loved torpedo boats, I also had the Kitakami back then and thought it was completely stupid. Of course it was fun, but the balance was completely gone as soon as there was more than 1 Kitakami in the team

I know ur freaking a little finally be able to play it, and as much as i wanted it when i first saw that it was back, it does not look very good at all and im glad i didnt try to get it; even used by a good player it doesn’t look special.
Its not the same as the original, and I played the original. I don’t need ti play this version to know that the way the torps reload kinda kills the appeal. Think of it like this: u have the omega diet sugar free version left outside on a hot day to warm up and de carbonate. I mean bro, the original WAS special, this really isn’t and theres so many ships that can do the same thing but better and everything else better also and are more fun
I genuinely don't see the appeal of this one. I appreciate that Flambass has been wanting to own it properly for forever but meh. I've got a Jinan that I'm not particularly fond of except for having fun. But I found myself agreeing with Trenlass when he mentioned off hand that it does what Kitakami does but better.
If you can get consistent value out of shima torps then kita can be pretty cracked and has more peak damage but otherwise jinans constant dpm with the Austin guns and faster reload can get more damage out and perma fires/floods
Jinan is better, but it plays nothing like kami. Closest is probably benham.
I can tell you that in clan battles the kitakami isn't very popular. Yeah you have torps but you are also very squishy. I'm thinking in competitive it will be the same way.
Will wg ever balance division spread within randoms?
Your team has 7 division players including 3 x T10, enemy has 4 with the highest being T9.....now i know its not a guarantee, but on average thats a big advantage to your team straight off the bat

The saddest thing i've seen lately is that it took 13 depth charges dropped on that sub to kill it. Defies belief that even wargaming could think that is acceptable. And they wonder why subs are so hated.
If they have to ban or limit ANY ship in competitive, that is an outright admission that they don't have balance.
Sadly you cant get this funny ship anymore...
