I did this 3-4 years ago. I did it the easier way. I bought a gallon of Elmer's glue and mixed gold milled glitter the same size like the one you have. I mixed it until it was well incorporated and simply painted it with a paint roller. The glue dries clear and it does NOT flake off at all. That's where my coffee bar/station is. Still looks good.
We did an area like this for a friend years ago. We found that painting the wall slightly darker than the color of the glitter reduced the look of patchiness and so did spreading it on in various arched strokes. When she moved out we went over the area with wire brushes and paint scrapers and it removed most of it, then she had painters spray texture the walls and you would never know it was there. In her second house she did this again in her daughter's room but she premade panels on posterboard and attached those to the wall with spray adhesive then took her mixture and went over the seams where the panels met. It looks really good and removal should be pretty easy eventually. We did try the blow method you mentioned and also didn't find it to give as opaque a look as mixing did. This looks so sparkly and pretty!
+Brittney Lynn (BrittneyMakes) thanks i love it too. A darker wall is good idea, and i feel like if the time comes, removal won't be too bad. I think a light sanding with an electric sander will do the trick. but for now, its staying :)
Wowwwww... I would have Never thought of posterboard..... Do you have any photos of how that came out? I am currently renting, so I would rather use the posterboard, but how do you go about doing that? that had to be a lot of that for a big wall.....

I think it a smart and valid question that actually got good replies. People like to change things up so considering the long term affects is not a bad thing. Plus if some hadn't asked then they may not have been give the idea to wallpaper the wall first. Doing this on top of removable wallpaper makes way more sense the going through the trouble of sanders and drywall (which btw is WAY more than an hours worth or work)
Omg this would be SOOOOOO cute in a little girl's room!!!!! It would also be cute if someone did a chevron pattern the actual chevron would be glitter and the background would be plain.
+Petrova Fire You plucked the idea right out of my brain! I am doing this in my daughters room this weekend with light pink glitter. Her walls are already a deeper pink.
I love this and I love to give a workout room a feel of a disco because I like to dance my way into shape. I am truly looking forward to this project !
For people planning on doing this, I suggest wallpapering the entire wall and then follow with glitter. Then it is just like removing wallpaper instead of having to deal with glitter 😊

Thanks for the video. I glitter painted a sofa - very similarly to what you've done here. It's usable and smooth (you sand it smooth with a 200 grit sandpaper when you're done) and I love it. :-)

Nice idea. A lot of people don't know that you can mix the glitter and Mod Podge together like that. Instant sealer! If you do decide to do it again, it would probably be cost effective if you buy the glitter in bulk since you know how much used for the wall.
Thank you soooo much! Your video was very helpful in terms of how the wall looked when you finished, gave me a good idea of work involved and cost of supplies. I really appreciate your kindness in taking the time and making the effort to make a good video! 😊. You spoke clearly and were easy to understand. A suggestion for others (or you in the future) is to locate a company that sells to artists craftsmen, and schools.to price needed supplies there. And of course you can get really amazing by creating a gradient effect on your wall and then going over it with your glitter it'll be more violent lavender in places in and more baby lavender in places or you can do a combination of beautiful pastel color scheme under that glitter. I'm going to stop now but I just wanted to let you know to please please get a spray sealant for all your hard work and instead of trying to swipe the glitter mixture ,Bounce the Glitter with a sponge. don't forget to try doing swatches as well. Meaning Tres watching a light blue and then putting the glitter on top of that before you go onto the wall itself. Have fun I'm different paint colors and different Glitters the top of that to see what happens. Because you can go to many places like Home Depot and they will give you free samples of these great small paint cans so that you could see what they look like on your wall after trying everything and in this case it's the perfect other free resource to get free wall paint and then first do it and make your own swatches to see what happens when you use a baby blue a glitter on that or baby pink and glitter on that excetera and also you go to places like AliExpress you can buy Michael find glitter before incredibly cheap prices where you're getting tons of bounces 4 nothing. 4 that's cool I think I just wanted to thank you so much for reminding me of the beauties of a putty knife and I hope I haven't hijacked your channel just very happy when I see somebody doing something creative and if there's anything I know it'll make the job easier or better or more fun and I want to let that be known and I don't want all that beautiful work to go down the drain and they want to make sure that you get those sponges and you start enjoying them because they're amazing for a bajillion other projects as well and you can cut them to size everything okay that's all putty knife lover thanks you
I think a gloss or matt acrylic medium would be a better adhesive alternative as mod podge tends to go yellow over time and can remain sticky in certain humid conditions.
It looks terrific - great job! I would like to let you and anyone else doing this however, if you buy Martha Stewart glitter DO NOT try to mix it with less expensive glitter. I know there is a joke here about Martha Stewart 'not wanting to mix' but it is true, she does a special hex cut on her glitter and if you try and mix it with anything over that her own glitter it looks AWFUL. My business involves glitter and I have been at it for seven years, so I thought I would warn everyone since I ruined something large with that mistake.
That's hella cool and creative! I would have NEVER thought of that! It's so cool how one person's idea can give others inspiration to do it too. I wonder if I find super silver paint and use your glittering method would that work too?
at dollar general, they have glitter self sticking foam sheets that would work also and easier. 6"x9" sheets but they are packs of only 3 and different colors
Just in case you do future wall projects, you can remove the outlet and switch covers to prevent getting paint/glue/glitter on them. Also to the other commenters, she says this is her make-up studio and wanted it to be 'fabulously tacky'. The applications don't have to be entire walls either, you could do this with accents or furniture. Although I might think about some kind of sealant. I imagine you'll fight glitter for the rest of your days without it.
Great idea,i will try it but instead iam going to paint pieces of foam board and staple them to the wall just in case i ever decide to change it up in the future.😆
That was a great tutorial thank you very much my niece would love this on her wall I'm going to be helping my mother re decorate her room but the only thing is I don't think that I would put it on the wall I would put it on something else let's just say like wallpaper I would put the wallpaper on and then use your tutorial just because I think it would be very hard to remove whatever she's ready to take it off but thank you very much cool
It does not chip or flake, it still looks just like this. If you rub it or touch it the glitter does not come off on your hand. It's on there pretty good.
I would simplify the process by mixing glitter into some Polycrylic varnish, then brushing that onto the wall. It would probably turn out to be about the same price as all that Mod Podge.
As are Renter I could see doing this over wall paper but in a small section or a door. I could see getting a wood paneling the size of a door but floor to ceiling and covering it. This might be nice to do a table top night stand or small vanity or mirror frame thanks for the FYI
They're gonna have a heck of a time painting that wall later. Probably should of done it like this. Buy the cheapest wall paper and do what you did on the walls onto the wall paper. Cool idea though.
I would love to do this in black and another wall in red since my living room decor is red and black . My only concern is i live in a apartment and i am not so sure they would be able to easily paint over the glitter . They do not care if you paint your apartment but they do want you to check in with them to tell them what colors and also they offer their painters to do it for you but i like to do things myself .
I really like that. I imagine to get it off you scrape the paint with the putty knife. With the paint underneath it shouldn't hut the drywall. Sand a little and paint it. Mod Podge is a brand name. It is a glue formula. Here is the mfg plaidonline.com/mod-podge/brand/home.htm. Everyone pronounces it the way she does. Just easier. Everyone that uses it knows what you mean. Think of it as nickname. I actually like it. Chunky and all. She wanted it like textured armour and there it is. I am thinking of holographic glitter under Hoya vines, so the water spray on them won't ruin the paint. I suppose the glitter paint will, but I might also use fiberboard and paint it. Many ways to do that.
you can always put paper down first for an easy removal. giant paper pieces or panels to fit the wall or paint over cheap wallpaper . you dont have to paint the wall directly
I did this 3-4 years ago. I did it the easier way. I bought a gallon of Elmer's glue and mixed gold milled glitter the same size like the one you have. Those iconic kitchen sponges are amazing for doing so many beautiful high end DIY home design . 1000 percent better unprofessional job. just like in makeup and beauty the walls of you swiping leaves streaks uneven patchy walls. what a waste. for perfect glitter mixture on the walls what you're doing is taking the sponge much like a beauty blender and patting stippling bouncing pressing dabbing it on much like when you're trying to put glitter on an eyelid you're packing it on. I can't tell you the internet amazing things you can do with the common household sponge but I can tell you that using those kinds of sponges that thank God are so cheap you can get hundreds of them for nothing. and it makes all the difference and of course they can be buy professional interior design Pros.. So instead of swiping on the wall /painting the wall with your glitter mixture do it with a spongean&u will see what a huge difference. always better 2 make sure you lay down everything before you start a project because it really sucks having to go back in and fix errors. I also wanted to recommend that white is a color that's that's hard 2 battle. I mean by that is it's much better to paint your wall whatever color you want the battle shift.so you wanted it to be more pink or light blue or lavender it's better to paint your wall hi I just wanted to say thank you so much for reminding me the beat of the beauty of the putty knife. Putting ice yay thank you so much for reminding me of that. Am sorry I wanted to recommend something for you and your project that would make things perfect and but you could go to any Home Improvement warehouse and get a spray sealant. Especially when you're doing a glitter home decor or interior of sealant is very very important. And you can get these ceilings and a spray can for so cheap and so after your work is done you spray it and it's never going to get deemed up it's going to look beautiful and even and also is kind of multi functional the way Hodge pot is because you can also use it in between layers if you didn't have say a hotspot. And think of it like if you were painting your nails and in between painting your nails and then your talk coat. I also wanted to turn you on to using the traditional kitchens sponge and going out to say dollar store and canning 20 of them for a buck. Another makeup metaphor coming your way here. Those iconic kitchen sponges are amazing for doing so many beautiful hi and jobs on the walls because it's like instead of you swiping your glitter mixture on the walls what you're doing is taking the sponge much like a beauty blender and padding it on or much like when you're trying to put glitter on an island you're packing it on. I can't tell you the amazing things you can do with the sponges but I can tell you that using those kind of sponges that thank God or so cheap you can get hundreds of them for nothing. And it makes all the difference and of course they can be used for a 1000 and one infinite uses for everything. So instead of swiping on the wall or train to paint the wall with your glitter mixture do it with a sponge and you will see what a huge difference. So is better to make sure you lay down everything before you start a project because it really sucks having to go back in and fix errors. I also wanted to recommend that white is the color that's really hard to battle with them when I mean by that is it's much better to paint your wall whatever color you want the glitter to lean say you wanted it to mean more pink or light blue or lavender it's better to paint your wall that color and then put the glitter a top of it and you want&u won't be fighting with the white background. 4 that's cool I think I just wanted to thank you so much for reminding me of the beauties of a putty knife and I hope I haven't hijacked your channel just very happy when I see somebody doing something creative and if there's anything I know it'll make the job easier or better or more fun and I want to let that be known and I don't want all that beautiful work to go down the drain and they want to make sure that you get those sponges and you start enjoying them because they're amazing for a bajillion other projects as well and you can cut them to size everything okay that's all putty knife lover thanks you
I wanna try this with rose gold. If only I can find rose gold glitter in bulks 😠
Kaleaha Ayers have you tried Amazon
Mississippi Infiniti lol I never thought of that. I'm so slow, thank you for the suggestion!
Kaleaha Ayers a rose gold glitter wall sounds amazing 😍😍
Krystani Love I looked up pictures, ugh it's gorgeous!
I'm currently doing a copper with Rose gold added...the rose gold was really just pink..so I added the copper and it's coming along nicely.
Add some bling around the edges with adhesive strips ,it will be so glamorous. Beautiful job.
I love this idea!
I'm using this method to do some wall stripes to add some sass to my room 😘 thank you for showing this
Beautiful and thank you. I'm definitely considering doing one wall too 😀💜
I think a gloss or matt acrylic medium would be a better adhesive alternative as mod podge tends to go yellow over time and can remain sticky in certain humid conditions.
wow that's very pretty!!🎀 thanks for sharing! 👍 some good info n great ideas.
i would love to do this!!! maybe not on a whole wall but a golden glitter heart on a very light pink wall for a little girl omg!!! love
+Melissa Saez that would be lovely!
Thanks girl this is an amazing idea to do on a large plain canvas on a backdrop. I'm off to hobbycraft today to make a few purchases 🙈
That looks cool, I just hope you never get tired of it haha
Mod podge.. not modge podge 😂😂🤣 u crack me up . Love the idea ! Thanks for sharing
That's hella cool and creative! I would have NEVER thought of that! It's so cool how one person's idea can give others inspiration to do it too. I wonder if I find super silver paint and use your glittering method would that work too?
Looks beautiful, great job girl!!!
my daughter would LOVE this
Love this IDEA! Looks good to me :)
this would be great on a vanity
at dollar general, they have glitter self sticking foam sheets that would work also and easier. 6"x9" sheets but they are packs of only 3 and different colors
+robbin312 that would be cool to try! I've got plenty of walls to glitter!
I seriously like it 😍
LOVE THIS idea ...TY for Sharing!!
I really like the Glitter wall :) i learned some thing from you .... :) l am happy and i am gonna try **** in my living room :)
Thank you ***
Just in case you do future wall projects, you can remove the outlet and switch covers to prevent getting paint/glue/glitter on them.
Also to the other commenters, she says this is her make-up studio and wanted it to be 'fabulously tacky'. The applications don't have to be entire walls either, you could do this with accents or furniture. Although I might think about some kind of sealant. I imagine you'll fight glitter for the rest of your days without it.
wow this is freaking awesome if i ever had a little girl i would do one wall like this just for her
holy shit that is the most amazing thing i have ever seen in my life!!!!
+Shannon McInchak thanks i love it too!
After finish use hair spray so it will stick permanently n you won't see glitter flying all over, so I heated,BY THE WAY I LOVE IT😍😍😍😍
it looks amazing definitely going to do this
Brilliant!! You're the greatest. This is EPIC!!!
Great idea,i will try it but instead iam going to paint pieces of foam board and staple them to the wall just in case i ever decide to change it up in the future.😆
Best room evaaaaaa!!!!!!!
also, I can imagine some textured wallpaper and painting on glitter accents😍😍😍
DEFINITELY A LABOR OF LOVE
That looks messy! But the end results looks AWESOME

That's how I say mod podge !!! 💜 great tutorial thank you !

+Shavell Pouncy Target
+jennbmakeupmagic thanks love
How pretty! New sub here! Love your style!😍👍
Shes having fun, and this video reached over 1 MILLION people! Why so serious? Everyone needs some glitter in their life.
Love this! So going to try it when I get the money :)
I love it! It was a bit messy but so worth it!
I'm messy with any paint lol. Did it chip or flake after a while or does it still look this nice? I've never used modge podge before.
It does not chip or flake, it still looks just like this. If you rub it or touch it the glitter does not come off on your hand. It's on there pretty good.
Love this Bling!!! You're hilarious--but good!
Really good idea , thanks for sharing !
I would simplify the process by mixing glitter into some Polycrylic varnish, then brushing that onto the wall. It would probably turn out to be about the same price as all that Mod Podge.
I LOVE THIS!!
Awesome idea, would have been easier to cut plywood to size and shape. Paint that up and then apply to wall with nail glue
l saw a book cover with glitter and it looked so pretty, how it shined. l was thinking having my wall a bit glitery but not to much.
I want to stencil out my daughters name above her bed and use this glitter method. :) I think it would be cute.
you can always put paper down first for an easy removal. giant paper pieces or panels to fit the wall or paint over cheap wallpaper . you dont have to paint the wall directly
Yes Girl!!!! I freaking love this!!!
