Though I haven't been a McCain fan since childhood, I have to say that as a female disabled veteran I found it disheartening that he left his wife and their child due to her injuries. He was injured, too.
Miss. He broke his arms because he FAILED to keep them in close as he ejected from his A-4!!! Ohh, btw, he WASN'T tortured, either!!! He "sang" like a freaking canary!!!! Look him up, it's there for the viewing!!
His marriage was over not because she had an accident, it was over because he spent 5 years away from her in a prison camp being tortured. That marriage was over before he even got home. Don't fret about her, she got half of his retirement and free healthcare for herself for the rest of her life. Try listening to her and what she say's. At the time he came back from the Hilton they had been married 9 years, and of thet time they had one year or a little more together considering his sea duty and prison time. One half or that marriage he was in a prison camp. They were married two years to the month of the Forrestal fire. She had an accident in 1969. He also adopted her two children. So he didn't exactly leave them on the street. They were all his dependents. The military doesn't let people be deadbeats.

McCain was called the songbird of the Hanoi Hilton. He made 32 pro North Vietnam audio tapes or which one showed up recently. As a Vietnam vet, I was appalled by it. He did not make them while under duress. But what happened on the aircraft carrier Forrestal is really bad where he set off bombs while joking around, killing over a 100 sailors. He was always joking around and he got off because his daddy was the pacific fleet commander

You need to look up the Forrestal story. McCain was not the cause of THAT incident. Blame him for what he is guilty of doing,, yes - but not of what he did NOT do.

As for the Forrestal incident, that wasn't his fault. A-4's aren't wet started. It is impossible. There is no afterburner on any of them, and the fuel dump is underneath the aircraft. And also the ass end of the aircraft was out over the water. SO if he did a "wet start" the ensuing fireball would have gone overboard. So there is that. And finally, his grandfather didn't help him at all, hsi grandfather died 6 days after he stood on the deck of the Missouri when the Japanese surrendered. So get your facts straight before you slander people. Criticizing his politics id fair game, but outright lying about his service is dishonorable.
Marvin Thayer - As a Veteran, I can respect the fact he was in the military. The way he has lied to the People of Arizona and fellow Veterans has earned him nothing but scorn and disrespect and he needs to leave Washington!
He also harrassed the family of POWs and sabotaged and stopped all investigations of POWs in Vietnam left there after the war

Its funny how the picture of him returning shows his arm way up in the air waving. And yet he claims the "torture" destroyed his ability to raise his arm. He was shown in a body cast with that arm also casted. Claims its from torture, why would they torture him and then treat him? These are injuries from the plane crash folks, not torture. He made a propaganda tape FOR the enemy, he was on the radio there promoting propaganda for the enemy.

It is What It Is - His broken arms occurred when he ejected from the airplane and stupidly forgot to pull his arms into his body. Don't know about a leg injury. He had no injuries from torture. Hence, no proof he was ever tortured.

McCain was an opportunist and a miserable POS! As far as being a war hero? A war veteran or a POW is not necessarily a hero. He is merely a war veteran who was a POW, which usually carries an honor all it's own solely because people assume the POW was living in inhumane conditions and even tortured. That was not the case at all with McCain, according to numerous POW's who were with him at the time... A hero is someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty to help another with no regard to his own safety (like throwing himself on a grenade or putting himself unnecessarily in harm's way). That certainly DOES NOT describe McCain in any sense of the word. The military trains men and women to be soldiers, but they do not train them to become heroes. McCain spent his life trying to make the world believe he was a hero, but that was only in his own mind. True heroes don't seek such validation and never would consider themselves such, even when they are. People dishonor REAL HEROES by calling him one. He wasn't!

Okay, people...before John McCain dies and the ridiculous "tributes" to the man make me vomit, let's remember what McCain's real legacy is: His father was the Admiral in charge of the Pacific fleet prosecuting the war in Vietnam.
Because of this McCain got preferential treatment in the Navy. He was allowed to become a Navy pilot. But he was a terrible pilot.
McCain crashed two navy Jets in his early career. Then while aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Forrestal, McCain got angry because he had to wait in line to take off on a bombing run.
He shut off his engines, opened the cockpit, and in his haste to exit the aircraft to chew someone out about his having to " wait", he hit the button that released his live bombs onto the deck of the Forrestal.
He took off running, as the bombs exploded, which set off a chain reaction of bombs from adjacent aircraft, and the ensuing explosions and fires killed 133 sailors aboard the Forrestal.
While his fellow sailors were fighting the fire, McCain went to the pilot's lounge below decks and watched the men fight the fire on closed circuit TV.
Hours later, McCain took off with a New York Times reporter buddy of his, and went on to say that after seeing the effects of those bombs on the Forrestal, he was beginning to question the morality of dropping those bombs on the Viet Cong.
McCain was the direct cause of 133 deaths on his own ship, and was never reprimanded. He was nowhere to be found as the Forrestal had to limp to the Philippines for months of repair work.
McCain was married then. His wife was stricken with debilitating injuries in an automobile accident. And was hospitalized for more than 5 months. McCain was off gallivanting with anything in a skirt.
Upon returning from Vietnam Nam, McCain found his wife was disfigured by her injuries, which included a shattered pelvis, arm, and legs. In order to save her legs, doctors performed 23 surgeries on her, and had to remove significant portions of the bones in her legs, which left he shorter, and unable to walk, and in a wheelchair, she had to use a catheter.
McCain was disinterested in his first wife's predicament. She had to go through grueling physical therapy to learn to walk again.
After McCain left the Navy, he was intent on a career in politics. He and His wife Carol had gotten to know Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and McCain was eager to jump into politics.
But he decided he needed a more visually pleasing young woman by his side. He callously divorced Carol, the mother of his three children, and immediately jumped into the sack with new wife Cindy, who was 18 years younger.
Upon learning of this, the Reagans were shocked and angered by how he had treated Carol.
While campaigning for congress, McCain used pictures of himself posing with Mr. And Mrs. Reagan, but there was no hearty endorsement offered by the Reagans.
McCain's new young wife was also an heiress to an Arizona Brewing fortune.
And let us not forget McCain was one of the Keating 5, who had helped swindle life savings from countless Americans in the Savings and Loan scandal of the 1980's. McCain was in it up to his eyeballs.
Yet McCain was well-connected in Washington, and parlayed his connections into a seat in the United States Senate.
So before the tearful tributes to John McCain, be sure you remember the facts about this self-proclaimed Maverick. The facts do not agree with that portrait of a heroic patriot and great American.
With due respect to his family, John McCain was never the great man so many portray him as.
I do not wish the man any harm or ill-will. But neither should we allow this false narrative fairy-tale about this scoundrel of a man as he faces his eternal fate.

Hmmm I find it fascinating (and appauling) how the Republicans have come out full swing with a smear campaign against McCain before his body even turned cold! AND not surprisingly after he turned down a vote to reverse Obamacare. Where was all of this being said when he was running for president against Obama? Why is it sooooo important now and not then?! As soon as I got ill, walked with a limp, and gained weight, he started an affair with his thrice married nurse, who was younger than him. I helped put him through Med School, gave him children, and handed over my retirement check to him. He did one thing worse than McCain, he took the only 2 people, in the world who gave me unconditional love, turned them against me, and I never heard from them, or saw them, again. That shows you YT, there are mentally ill, evil people on both sides of the aisle.
Perot's brother was Doctor at our local Medical University. He, too, is a fine, and caring man.

Thanks! Yes, the point is the same for all candidates and voters. No party is immune from scrutiny. I know the divorce rate is way to high; I am in Cali and have been married for a number of years. EVERY couple who started out with us is divorced. That is why I say my standard must be different. I work with my husband, not against him. Always have & will.

I think the point about her dress being so expensive is that she can't possibly relate to the financial struggles of an everyday American when she wears an outfit that costs a normal person 7 years to earn.

I don't like what McCain did concerning his wife. Although lots of people get divorced he did it all wrong, playing the field until he found a woman he wanted to leave her for. I would have had more respect if he would have sat her down and said 'Honey, I'm not a strong enough man to stand by you since this happened to you. I'm weak. I'm so sorry. I need a divorce." No respect for the man. I do feel for his family.
