Happy to bring back my "Problems" series for a discussion about popular alternative record label Fueled by Ramen. Just my take on things, let me know what you think in the comments, and if you're able to, help support me on Patreon! UA-cam doesn't favor this type of content -_-

Thank you to those telling me they're happy they got ads on this video! For this who haven't been following, the past few months it's been super inconsistent on if ads show up on my channels, and my previous 2 videos before this upload didn't run ads the first 48 hours they were uploaded (which is when I get most of my views) Anyways, thanks guys!
Beyond ARTV yay
FINALLY SOMEBODY SAYS IT it's so sad to see such great bands get turned into trash while going through this record label. I used to absolutely love a lot of bands on this label but now they all sound like everything you hear on the radio now
Beyond ARTV I got an ad for UA-cam during the album, not sure if that helps
Beyond ARTV I guess you could say All Time Low's chart position was at an
All Time Low? I'll show myself out
Beyond ARTV I didn't get them in the beginning, but I got them in the middle of the video :)
Fooled by ramen
I laughed more than I should have at that
I think releasing too many songs before album destroys the hype for an album. If you've already heard over half the album before it drops, where's the excitement to listen to the album in full?
+Gemma C-Not necessarily, it could work in certain ways but just not the way FBR or most artists do it. Releasing like three-four tracks at the most as an early release for the fans piques interest and it gives fans a taste of the upcoming album. However, if you release a few tracks early on, you are doing it on the expectation that the album as a whole is going to be worthwhile and as such, the entire album should be good. The way FBR does it and most artists do it, they don't care about albums but they are just trying to release their most radio friendly tracks ahead of time so it can climb the charts quicker, rather than waiting for the album to release and releasing the singles individually. I'd argue if they really wanted to give early releases for their fans, what would be preferable would be instead of releasing several songs off an album fans are already going to buy, they should perhaps release songs that just didn't make the cut off the album, maybe even some demos from tracks that just didn't make the final cut, an acoustic set, different remix (and offer it free sometimes) so it gives fans a taste and gives them something new they're not necessarily getting off the album.
Haha the hype. Wait this is from the future 👌👌
Fuelled by ramen is literally the *edgiest* tumblr 12-yr old name
Now you hold your horses there missy, that was their name since the 90s, so don't bring Tumblr into this.
the only broken-hearted loser you'll ever need
AND I'LL BE LEFT ALONE FOREVER WITH MY MAGAZINES!
Well, not quit *the* edgiest. *The* edgiest would be something like "Bloodcutting Shadowmoon Deathreaping voidboy"
PhantomKing88
They were Tumblr before it was cool
No... no they weren't.
twenty one pilots promote vinyl theatre more than fbr does
Oh. Okay. thats sO TRUE
IKR
TRUE
FRR OMG 💀
because tøp recognizes their talent, and fbr doesn't.
can we also mention the fact that when Brendon Urie showed FUB hallelujah and they were like cool we're going to release this song and then an album in half a year despite Brendon saying he didn't have an album ready.
+Lola Heubeck that's fucked! I didn't know that! Do you have a source on this that you could link me?
Beyond ARTV I'll try find the interview
That explains a lot
Lola Heubeck really?! Where did you get this info from? 😂
Phan.Ryden.Destiel I'm trying to find the interview he said it in a couple but the only one I've been able to find so far he ist to specific about it just give a couple days I'm going to try find the one where he says it quite specifically and link it
I hate when bands promote constantly on twitter it's annoying. im glad twenty one pilots control their own twitter and only tweet once about anything
Matt Benk And the way they're all mysterious about it. Love it. Paramore's not that bad too....especially with how they announced Zac was back in the band....
Vishnu Teja Chikkala I noticed paramore mostly only tweets after stuff happens. it's usually "thanks guys" or something like that and occasionally announcing shows
Morgan Blue True. And I'd prefer it be kept that way. Shows you're not trying to shove your product down your fans' throats but actually trying to make a connection with them
ikr
Matt Benk who the fuck needs to tweet shit 30 times in a row? Didn't that happen with Brendon's album?
I guess you can say All time Low's album sales were at an...All time low....I'm not sorry
FUN 101 an*
FUN 101 I just commented that 😂😂😂 you beat me to it
Nor should you be
oh god
As a former all time low fan,I agree
Panic! actually released 8 OUT OF 11 SONGS before the album came out! The last 3 might as well been bonus tracks
what album?
@@hexnight Death of a Bachelor. I heard from an interview some times before it was even done P!ATD handed in FBR the finished project they wanted to put the album out anyways. Even though, the album wasn’t even done! I’m assuming that’s why the 8 tracks were released early. But they milked it so much from 2015-2018 until PFTW came out. Only exception is they didn’t milk it at all. They sort of let the album do it’s own thing even though I’m still salty no video or single release was done of “Dying in LA” what a track.
@@fansgalorellc621 that's kind of a shitty move :/
@@fansgalorellc621 Dying in LA is my absolute favourite song in PFTW.
i saw that same thing happen with muzz's the x saga album. not only was there a song from a completely different compilation (from 2020), but there were also 7 singles released in 2 months, which felt a bit much. it was pretty much a fucked release schedule
The major problem with dropping half the album before it comes out is that, unless the songs are of an actually good quality, people lose interest very fast. All Time Low's a great example of that. Since there were only 10 songs in total, dropping nearly half the album in music video form was a VERY bad idea. Having a few songs dropped in music video form as singles before an album drops is a good idea, then a few more after it comes out, but a few of the songs were of such low quality that I nearly lost interest altogether.
I completely gave up on that album. I actually liked Dirty Laundry (I know a lot of people didn't) but I didn't really like anything after that. They were all forgettable, boring, and poppy songs. I never even listened to the whole album.
I don't think Dirty Work was a wasted effort, since they learned from the experience, or at least they _showed_ that they did for the next 2 albums, but they completely regressed & forgot everything they learned for LYR. Dirty Work had some really great material, but the album as a whole never feels cohesive enough, the sound mixing is terrible most of the time, & some of the lyrics are so cringeworthy that I HAVE to skip over almost half of the songs.
It's not a masterpiece (even though I've, literally, had fans tell me _exactly_ that) & it's not completely terrible, but Dirty Work was, for the longest time, their default worst album until LYR. At least Dirty Work had half an album's worth of material that was still them. LYR just doesn't.
Sorry, I thought you typed 'Dirty Work' & not 'Dirty Laundry.' I misread that. Yeah, that song wasn't entirely terrible, but it _was_ badly produced. If it got to the actual rock sound it has in the last minute of it quicker, it would've been better.
'Last Young Renegade' & 'Nice2KnoU' are actually good, but not great.
Scsigs yes absolutely! With All Time Low and with Panic! I've Been fans of both those bands for almost ten years and FBR releasing half or more of the fucking songs before the album release date meant I didn't see a point in actually purchasing the whole album. Pumping out as many singles as possible also means FBR albums don't top charts anymore which is way more of an achievement for the band than having a few scattered hits.
In all honesty because of that way of releasing nearly half of the album... I basically just gave up on it like big time....
i used to love this label, but now i only ever see promotion of 3-4 bands and i forgot half of the people signed to them until you mentioned their names
let's tweet this video to fueled by ramen
laura |°_°| that's too much
Enrique O ok

It's not this deserves to be heard
the “converting to pop” point is SO TRUE. Look at the last two tracks from twenty one pilots, the recent singles from fall out boy (ESPECIALLY young and menace), Paramore’s recent album, (I still absolutely loved it, but you can’t deny the sound has definitely changed) all time low and more and you will see how overly produced and radio friendly they’ve become. It’s fishy. Additionally, Vinyl Theatre is amazing and doesn’t deserve to be treated this way either. They’re amazing!!
yeah i feel the same tøp. i hope their new album isn't as pop.
Honestly, I think Fall Out Boy is the source of their own problems. I have a hard time believing they'd be pressured into creating a certain sounds when they've proven themselves to be plenty reliable with sales. Their sound post-hiatus has been very reminiscent of Stump's Soul Punk album, which, while I think was a great Pop album, makes for a really crappy rock band sound like Fall Out Boy.
Aren’t fall out boy signed to Island Records???
@@tommaso6392 they really did and im proud
bridget hey how are you? Trench is a big bop right :) you six months ago must be happy
Fueled By Ramen Is Like The Graveyard For Good Rock Bands
jacen that Sounds like a Fall Out Boy song title 😂
jacen by Panic! At The Disco
@@TH1515FAK3 sounds afycso ish
Twenty one pilots are dancing on the graves I guess.. they are amazing
the way you said "I'm not 12" at 9:22 had me cracking up laughing because you sound so done with everything
+Roan Marie 😂
Yes, I can't stand when they pre-release nearly half an album (or more!) before the actual release date!! It makes it feel not as exciting. They've done it with ATL, Panic!, and Vinyl Theatre on their latest albums
Alt Columnist Not defending FBR but isn't that up to the bands? I like Eleven Seven but some of their bands do that sometimes
+ByteNess it's the labels. A lot of labels "market" that way now. Like I said in the video, FBR isn't the only guilty one.
Beyond ARTV Oh, ok. Thanks for replying. For a while I thought that PRoach were just TRYING to piss us off by releasing 70% of their albums before release
Im pretty sure it was at Vinyl Theatre's decision because they were supposed to release their album back in January, but FBR being the sucky ass label they are, there was a full 5 month delay. So the band probably convinced them to release 4 songs to hold us out until the wait was over
Alt Columnist right, like I want a little taste but not the whole album. It's like spoiling a show with a trailer. I wanna be excited and want something to look forward till it's release but I still wanna be excited to hear more when it's dropped.
Honestly I'm hoping some bands drop off the label like twenty one pilots, the front bottoms, vinyl theatre, etc. due to fueled just poisoning bands that are good.
^^^^^^
FOR won't let them off that easy. They made them popular and right now TØP is not letting them control much like other bands.
Tyler would rather lose money and break their contract before letting FBR control them. And FBR knows it
I wonder if Fueled By Ramen is to blame for Jeremy leaving Paramore...
didnt he leave because he sued hayley and taylor for songwriting credits even tho jeremy never wrote anything? do you think FBR told him to do that? what happened?
@@sabhyata2655 The label actually fired jeremy from the band for not fulfilling his contract and then he sued them.
I'm 14, and on behalf on any intelligent 14 years olds, I want to say that GIFs AND EMOJIS ARENT FUNNY OR RELATABLE. We don't want half-assed music, either. Just be chill.

Anybody remember The Cab? They were friends with Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco. Also on Fueled By Ramen. I miss them, but the lead singer, Alex Deleon went solo now.
reesespieces22 I know this is an old comment, but yep! Of course I remember! Still listen to them today! Sucks that they're inactive right now and not with Fueled By Ramen anymore, but still hoping for a new album in the future. On the plus side, Bohnes is releasing his album soon so we have at least something to look forward to.
omg i was just thinking about them yesterday whhaaa
I like a lot of bands signed to fueled by ramen , but I had to find artists elsewhere, unless they're twenty one pilots and panic! etc., because unless they have had a HUGE hit e.g stressed out or iwsnt, they're never mentioned or promoted in any way, so small artists don't ever have a chance it making it big, unless they switch to a more mainstream genre. which is pointless
I blame this society for not wanting difference and creativity in the mainstream.
honestly
And this is why I've been terrified for One OK Rock. Their last release was by far their worst... it's a shame to see bands that have been around for years lose themselves due to the goals of their label.
I will never forgive Fueled by Ramen for corrupting One OK Rock
There gonna kill All Time Low and One Ok Rock
Amelie Desforges so is one ok rock,or should i say one ok pop
Jackie Moon I swear the tweets atl are tweeting are getting on my nerves
that's such a shame tho cuz i've been a fan of one ok rock for a long time and have listened to all their albums and before their new album the were playing punk, emo, post hardcore, pop punk, and just amazing all around music and since they signed to fbr to see their legacy of being a band for 12 years being destroyed with this dumbed down pop rock shit is just annoying and frustrating
The sad thing is, One OK Rock is a fantastic band both in studio and live. Their latest album was so lacking compared to their previous efforts. It tells me Fueled By Ramen definitely has a hand in all this
It wasn't originally Fueled by Ramen's fault for ONE OK ROCK's decline. It was mostly John Feldmann's fault because he did the production and much of the songwriting for 35xxxv. He even mixed Jinsei Kakete Boku Wa, which was beloved but started to show a few of the traits that fans would later hate. It wasn't until he came along that the music started to become overproduced and pop-oriented. Also, he had worked with many famous English-speaking bands, so he could tempt ONE OK ROCK with the promise of fame in the United States. I honestly don't know exactly how his interactions with the members went, but he was the biggest catalyst. Moving to Fueled by Ramen was just another step in the Americanization process. Honestly, I generally like ONE OK ROCK's newer output, but it's not as great as their albums from 2008 to 2011. Heck, Zeitakubyou rivals 35xxxv and Ambitions in quality. While Ambitions sounds a bit more refined, there is a fair amount of duds mixed in with the really good songs, and while some of the studio trickery actually works, a lot more rawness and heaviness would help capture the spirit of the band. Either way, Fueled by Ramen isn't doing the band any favors, and they're making it less likely that the members will ever return to their roots.
SAY 👏 IT 👏 LOUDER 👏 FOR 👏 THE 👏 PEOPLE 👏 IN 👏 THE 👏 BACK👏
Oh dear, if FBR kills SWMRS I wouldn't know what to do
Grunge Mom me too especially since they always play near me and I don't know why but they mean quite a bit to me. I remember finding them when they were in the process of making their album (around that time), I have high hopes for them and if FBR screws that up...
maria aizawa when I found out that zac carper produced their album I immediately checked them out. Loved them ever since I first listened to Miley. I hoped FBR really meant it when they said they signed SWMRS for their sound. Not the cash cow they can turn them into
I've been following SWMRS since their Emily's Army days, so I wholeheartedly share your sentiments about not wanting FBR to ruin them. That being said, I think everyone in that band has pretty good heads on their shoulders and I trust them not to "sell out." If something happened to them like what's happened to Panic! over the last several years, I would honestly lose my faith in the integrity of rock and roll.
Holly M. agreed
I thought SWMRS was signed to pure noise?
Paramore' issues make a lot more sense now...
I am so nervous about what they're gonna do to twenty one pilots
Same but then I remember how determined ty and josh are to remain true to their original philosophy. I feel that they're not going to go down a route FBR pushes without a fight.
Michelle Ellsworth I don't think they're gonna change tøp's style that much. I mean, the band clearly has a say in what their accounts and releases look like, with all the smoke and mirrors stuff they do, and the clique just gobbles it up and tears it to shreds. So messing with something that's working.....doesn't seem like FBR?
Michelle Ellsworth you should be, have you heard their cover of cancer? I hope they leave twenty one pilots and paramore alone. though, those bands are pretty adamant about what they want to do so there's hope
Twenty one pilots is their biggest money maker. They're not gonna screw that up. If they catered to other awesome bands the way they did to Twenty one pilots, other (better) bands could receive just as much success, if not more
Michelle Ellsworth tøp has the craziest fanbase so they probably have more control.
John, this is Jeff. I know this out of nowhere and it's gonna be a major downer but I have to tell you as soon as possible. Due to recent events at the moment I'll unfortunately be homeless for the next couple weeks and that means very little food, access to medication and of course very little if any internet. That means I will be inactive with the playlist and the comments even more than I already I am. I'm sorry if I'm letting you or any people who still give a shit about the playlist, but right now my personal safety and search to get a job then updating a playlist of Music reviews. If it makes anybody feel better I'm gonna have a shelter to look at and a personal helper to help me find a job so I'm not totally screwed. Hopefully In 3 month's i'll be back on my feet. Take care.
+jeff emerson hey man, I'm so sorry to hear this 😔 I really really hate that, you've been so awesome to me over the years. I really hope you find a job asap and are able to get things back on track.
your in my prayers
Hope you’ll be okay
Are you alive?
They don't let tøp sell self-titled(physical) or regional at best at all
Samantha Spate I hate that so much, Those albums are amazing
Jordan Mahone (uhhh well, I like self titled...)
one of my favorite bands is on fuled by Ramen, they're called against the current but seriously they never get any promotion. and I feel like if they were given the chance they could be big. they're music is definitely radio ready. like seriously fuled by Ramen, why did you sign them if you're not going to give back to them, or the rest of the bands you have on your label?? with the exception of those few ones who are HUGE.
Naomi Riendeau ATC are my favourite band and I'm so worried (especially now they're on their second album) that they aren't gonna get the support from the label. However they don't seem to be a band who could be easily influenced by their label - they know how they want their music to sound. I was actually lucky enough to meet the band last year. I think the label promoted them for In our bones with music videos etc , I just doubt they'll promote their second album as much
Naomi Riendeau 100% agree 🙌🏻
I really like ATC! And it seems like if you don't follow them or any of the FBR smaller bands individually, you wont know what they're up to with new music, tours, etc. FBR promote the bigger bands more than the smaller or newer bands, which is unfortunate.
Naomi Riendeau I NEVER EVEN KNEW ATC WAS ON FBR
Naomi Riendeau I didn't know they were on FBR
yea. Vinyl theatre, SWMRS, the front bottoms, and chefspecial and more bands deserve so much more love, and like you said, even YTG should get more attention.
Good nod to Cal Chuchesta at the beginning
exoticcarlvr22 I'm feeling a light to decent 7/10 on that reference
Boardwalk Records damn!
I'm still pissed they didn't promote VersaEmerge or A Rocket To The Moon like they really should have. They should have been a lot bigger then what they were.
brianna hughes yes!! VersaEmerge could have blown up. I miss them 😪
brianna hughes Versaemerge was amazing such a missed opportunity
brianna hughes honestly I loved versaemerge so much I'm so sad they didn't get as much recognition as they deserved
Yeah, a lot of my favorite bands (Paramore, All Time Low, Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At The Disco, Fun.) are signed to Fueled By Ramen, but the label has some serious problems. And this is coming from one of the 12-14 fans, so there you go. They need to make some serious changes, or the same thing that happened to ATL is going to happen to other bands on the label as well.
please problems I have with team 10
You're probably right
maybe you can broaden the subject to be like "problems i have with shitty youtube singers"
Stop giving them attention
This is a music channel.
I would like to a problems I have with leafy, like one time jon was talking about shitty/scummy youtubers and he was mentioning leafy.
VINYL THEATRE IS SUCH A SLEPT ON BAND THEY'RE ARE HONESTLY AMAZING
Dude I didn't even know that the front bottoms were on fbr and I love them. That's fucked up
+Ciara Byrne yeppppp.
Ciara Byrne I only found out they were on fbr when Jon mentioned it a while ago
SAME HOW WTF
I remember when I found out I was like "wtf they're never talked about??"
I love TFB too
Ok I have been following all time low's twitter account for a long time and I think even if you've been following since future hearts you would notice their humor has gone away into bs "I love you"s and "buy our albums. Like that account is as dead as the dinosaurs,, anyone would notice that their social medias are very unlike them.
mo
It's not them posting anymore
they're also killing One ok rock real slowly though.
One ok rock is like the current gods of japanese mainstream rock. their japanese albums are amazing. but then FBR happened and they become this soul-less teen pop band that only sings about shallow stuff because it obviously sells. i'm really happy that they get the international recognition they deserve and i hope that FBR didnt make them worse.
your t-shirts and merchandises are always perfect lol
thank you for bringing up the van Versa emerge and I first heard them when the lead singer was featured in A Day to Remember song If it Means a Lot to You.
FBR = the label bands go to if they want to drastically change their sound
i dont mind sound change if the band themselves want to do it, but if the label forces them to when they dont want to is not good
At the end of next year I'm planning on starting a prog metal band as a bassist I hope we get signed to nuclear blast or megaforce screw fueled by ramen they kill pop and indie rock bands
Thanks for speaking out about this. I wish the music industry wasn't so shady and it was all about the talent. In a perfect world...
No wonder the hey look ma I made mv was....like that
I'm genuinely scared for SWMRS and Basement as they're my favorite bands at the moment. Hopefully Fueled by Ramen doesn't fuck them over.
Oh Deaf Grandpa fueled by ramen should read this comment
I remember when twenty one pilots tweeted that ride had entered top 50 for U.S. on Spotify and that they were so proud of the and for getting it there. and then never tweeted about chart/streaming success again. If their social media gets corporate and controlled, I will lose remaining faith in humanity
I heard FBR discontinued Twenty One Pilots's second album Regional at Best. Apparently Tyler and Josh aren't allowed to sell RAB.
I remember the album's release. But I think the discontinue of the album might be because it was before Josh joined the band, when it was a 4 piece and not the band which was signed, which is why the album 'Vessel' is known as their debut album
I've kinda noticed this little poppy trend they have with their bands especially with ATL, Paramore & with Against the Current, and kind of noticed that when ATC joined with them, they had this sort of polished sound that is hard to describe, that is similar to ATL's and it makes me wonder if they really do have a lot to do with the production of their albums.
P.S. I didn't know you knew about VersaEmerge, found them a bunch of years ago and thought they were like unheard of lol
Fueled By Ramen needs to see this video.
I sent this video to everyone I've ever talked to about FBR. Everyone knows my personal opinion on the label and in this video, you hit the nail on the head. Thank you.
+Alaina Faltin thank YOU for sending it out
i agree! they need to promote smaller bands. i love the front bottoms, they're one of my favorite bands. they and others need to be promoted more. great video :)
Nobody:
Background music: HEY I AM ANGRY MAN
I worry that they will try to control the artists and will give them less creative freedom so that they aren't able to produce great music
The Reason why Josh and Zak(first time) Farro left Paramore is because of the record label taking advantage of a naive Hayley Williams and molding her into a pop kid who was the center of attention in the band and to make the music pop. Then Jeremy left because of the bullshit of not getting his due for his work in the band. Record labels can be bastards just ask Linkin Park they had some of the worst experiences with their record label.
I am a fan of that t-shirt!
It's a band t shirt the band is the 1975
I know that's why I like it hahaha. they're my favorite band
Finally someone said it! You always seem to know exactly what you're talking about. Great video!
+Morgan thank you!
Seems like every time bands sign with this label start off as emo punk and change to pop
ATL used to be so pop-punk/pop rock until Fueled By Ramen came along and fucked them up by turning them into pop. This is why I like Hopeless Records. But, by all means, no harm to the people that like Fueled By Ramen, I'm just pointng out my opinion- xoAva
This video was very well put... I used to follow FBR so hard when TOP was first developing and it was just hard to see some of my bands die because of how bad the label handled them. Cobra Starship had a bunch of hits and potential, and yet they died at FBR.
FBR killed Versa:Emerge's second album and that will never not annoy me. I was loving the sound of the stuff VE had released for us to hold us over :(
+Lozza P yeah there's one song I totally loved...can't think of the name. Started with a piano loop then a powering electronic chorus. Something about not being controlled? It was great
I agree I haven't been impressed with fueled by ramen recently and I really don't like their new album
Loved your analysis of the label. It was so exciting in the early 2000's seeing fueled by ramen explode in popularity by signing the right band. I don't know if you had much love for Drive Thru back in the day, but that would be AWESOME to see a similar analysis.
They should take a leaf out of Pure Noise Records' book. One of the best labels out there imo.
I saw Vinyl Theatre last month, along with Small Pools and Misterwives, soooo good. Got to meet them too :)
Problems you have with modern day blink
Blackpink??
Hell yeah, the "problems" segment is back!
FBR better not do to Basement what they did to the Swellers!!!! 😡😡😡
And they better not make them change their sound either!!! 😡😡😡
Kyle Hegedus i Hope to
When I was trying to act in LA as a teenager, I came across a lot of people who got signed to agencies in order to basically be kept at the sidelines. The agencies saw them as a threat to their bigger names or whomever they were investing their time into, so they would sign these talents and purposely stifle their opportunities. It almost sounds like the same thing is happening in the music industry when FBR/anyone else signs these bands just to do nothing with them.
I was wondering if you'd mention VersaEmerge! Their music was so ~out there~, spacey, and different. They definitely deserved more promo. But, I'm pretty sure FBR dropped them a few years ago. So stupid, ugh.
This is a problem all over! UA-cam networks is also terrible, only promoting the big youtubers, and don't give a fuck bout the smaller channels.. :P
This is kind of on topic, but
What the fuck happened to Gym Class Heroes?????
Album Surgeon Reviews i heard they're coming back for a music festival ??? travie did solo stuff for a while but they never actually broke up
are we not gonna talk about what Fueled By Ramen did to Ghost Town???
I like filed for the band's it has signes, twenty one pilors, panic! at the disco, paramore, all time low, one ok rock, ghost town, SWMRS, Vinyl Theatre, and Basement. it's just be better
I don't know if it helps but I just watched the entire 2:36 of the Jumanji trailer instead of skipping the ad.
+Zach that DOES help. Thank you very much!
aside from them essentially ruining All Time Low, I was so disappointed that they've processed Basement. Basement are so talented and Fueled By Ramen have badly altered them... as for The Front Bottoms being signed to them... since When?!?!
sTØP the stupid fangirl usernames at the discØ! nah, basements still good. I didn't know they were in that label though.
basic af the deluxe version of Promise everything sounded awful and they weren't given any marketing.... they sound too polished
They would put more attention on someone like panic at the disco rather than someone not as popular because they know more people care about them
Hey Jon! I know this doesnt have much to do with the video (which was great btw), but I was wondering if you plan on picking up an After Laughter vinyl once they're released? And if you do, which color pressing do you hope to get?
+Addeline Rounsefell absolutely! Gonna get teal and pink.
Something I seriously despise about FBR is their hyperfocus on putting the lead singer before everyone else. It's called a band for a reason. It's not All Time Alex, or just Hayley, or Fall Out Patrick, yet in their disgustingly see-though attempts to sell, they whore out the lead singers and make everything far more overproducted than necessary, or even wanted.
I also found when I first got into bands by them like Fun. That they take SUCH talented artists and auto-tune them to death and it becomes just bad. It's unfortunate. TWTLTRTD is a HUGE example of this as is the song Stars by Fun. They wanna make them seem super mainstream it's actually really sad since they're all such talented artists. I'm glad you brought this up because I thought I was alone on not liking how their label operates half the time. And I never knew TFB was on that label till just last week and I really like TFB.
To me it seems like FBR is measly attempting to copy the music promotion style in K-pop. In Korea however, this system works great due to the saturation of girl/boy bands. They'll promote an album, release a few music videos, but most of the time just one. That track is known as the "title track" the song that will be promoted for music shows, radio, etc etc to get people to buy it. After wrapping that up, they'll disappear for a while, preparing for a new one. That's what they call a "comeback" most acts don't even get solo concerts unless they're widely popular.
However, in Western society, this doesn't work. Because most western bands make their money touring.
I needed this video
I thought I'd be the only one seeing some of these points.
YESSS THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS UP lol especially being a big fan of Vinyl Theater
I'm 12 I hate emojis. Certain ones are okay but more than like 2 or 3 and I'm saying to myself " what drugs are you on."
When you're three minutes into the video.. and THEN UA-cam decides to play an ad
I didn't even realize that half the bands you mentioned were signed to FBR
I saw his shirt and then got 'Heart Out' stuck in my head😂😂 I need help
"they're only catering to the 13-14 year olds" i agree tbf. I'm 14 myself lol but i've always been more attached to bands' older rock sound from these bands like p!atd, fob, paramore and atl but i know a lot of people around my age group who only listen to these bands starting from the point where they got signed to this record label, no one knows their older discography exists and I think this record label has put these bands to shit. Don't get me wrong, I liked Last Young Renegade, After Laughter, American Beauty/American Psycho (death of a bachelor, too weird to live too rare to die and save rock and roll definitely could have done better) but i wish fuelled by ramen could stick to the bands who aren't even rock instead of dragging bands away from the rock genre and putting them to shit with fanbases and even their music.
Elias Serghi to be fair paramore's shift in sound has nothing to do with fueled by ramen.
Kevin Echeverria oh okay my mistake
Elias Serghi can I ask where your profile pic from?
Yes 👏🏽
Been waiting for this video for ages!
+GrayWoIf hope you liked it!
I just wanna go back to the days of The Academy Is..., Cobra Starship, Fall Out Boy, Ryan Ross/Spencer Smith/Jon Walker Panic! At The Disco, Hey Monday, Gym Class Heroes etc etc
oof yeah, those were the good days
Don't forget Paramore, dumbass.
totally understand the singles point like i dont keep up with many bands and when i see ones i kinda like but not super invested in release like 6 songs in quick succession to promote an album I end up getting overwhelmed and dont bother with it much
OMG ARTV MENTIONED TFB!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ed Sapey ITS FUNNY YOU SHOULD AAAAAAAAASSSSKKK, CAUSE I DON'T REMEEEMBEEERRR
I love some of the majorly marketed Fueled By Ramen (P!ATD, ATL, FOB, And Paramore), but Fueled By Ramen by itself has some serious problem.
finally someone is speaking about this.
I agree about FBR making a lot of bands really pop. for example: I started to listen to ONE OK ROCK a lot and I loved Zankyo Reference and JINSEI KAKATE BOKU WA but their newest album Ambitions was , well, not the best I have heard. It was so poppy and it felt like I'm listening to MTV pop charts. sure I did like some of the songs due to the catchiness of them but the album as a whole thing was just a no for me. And since they r signed to both, FBR and a Japanese label (I don't remember the name of it) they also released a Japanese version which had some different songs from the FBR version. It was much better and u were able to hear that that's something original and not something that we hear on the radio every day.
same here about All Time Low and Fall Out Boy. maybe they really are wanting to change up their style 'cause of course u can't do the same thing all the time but listening to their newest stuff it feels like they are trying to become next pop band who is known by everyone and loved by everyone since they fall into both categories.
sorry if I'm offending anyone and I have gotten something wrong, please excuse me, but those are just my thoughts on whats happening with FBR and if I have gotten something wrong please leave a comment under this one.
I've been following SWMRS since they were Emily's Army and when they were on Billie Joe's label Adeline, but when they became SWMRS and signed to Fueled by Ramen I knew that it was a bad idea, ever since released the music video for "Palm Trees" I thought the were going to get more publicity from Fueled by Ramen but after the release of the video they were never mentioned again by the label.
even in the hey day of FBR they've had the same attitude. i remember a lot of bands (like the academy is..) would make comments about how their label treated them like shit and was the reason a lot of them broke up.
I guess you could say, Last Young Renegade's first-week sale was an...
*All time low*
I'm so sorry
What really sucks is that I love All Time Low and I love the band members but their label just fucking sucks. Even though I'm a fan of the new album and sound, I just really think the label is what's really not doing the band any good. It's just so annoying that half of that album was released . I even had to skip out on Good Times because I didn't want to ruin half of the album! that's just trash marketing
honestly labels like these sign bands and forget what that means. With the way they shine all the spotlight on the lead singer they've been doing this with Paramore even when it was just Hayley and Taylor. And it's starting with All Time Low I mean Dirty Laundry barely featured Rian, Jack, and Zack and Rian has tweeted how he feels like he is the least liked. What's the point of having a group of talented people and only focusing on one or two of them? That's fucking bullshit
