On one hand I think "well it's not like you're killing an elephant now, it's already made and may as well use it" but on the other hand, everything the royals do including the products they use and buy and the clothes they wear promote products that people want to go out and purchase for themselves. So I can see why they would fear promoting the ivory trade by using something made of ivory. Surely there is another scepter she could use or have a new one made. After all, Catherine will need one also when she is crowned alongside William in the near future. I know they are trying to stay away from purchasing new things but this would be a worthy investment and when you buy new things, you create more jobs for people so it's not a bad thing.

There's not enough money in the entire family for me to respect her. How easily people forget that Queen Elizabeth did not want the adultress to ever be queen. Ever. Catherine, Princess of Wales was the first royal lady to wear the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II, ( a portrait of the Queen surrounded by diamonds on a pale yellow ribbon) painted on glass instead of the traditional ivory. Presumably Royal Family Order of King Charles III, when presented to certain senior royal ladies will now all be on glass.

Never say never. However, until that occurs, Camilla will be crowned on May 6 as Charles's spouse. The question that OUGHT to be asked is this: Princess Margaret, a Spinster, was not permitted to marry a divorced man (supposedly the innocent party) whose wife was still living, but Charles, a widower, was allowed to marry a divorced woman, a known adultress, whose husband was still living. Apparently, the sauce for the goose (who went from # 2 to #11 over the course of her life) isn't sauce for the gander (who remained heir to the throne from 1952 through 2022).

Umm… I don’t recall William writing a tell all book trashing his whole family. Harry chose to sell his family down the river for money and now he can face the consequences. I have no sympathy for him. He was unhappy? Fine. He chose to leave and live far away from his family. He wasn’t banished. But instead of keeping his mouth shut, and despite him saying he wants to be left alone by the media, he does interviews, a docudrama and a tell-all book? He’s a man child and won’t accept responsibility for his part in the breakdown of those familial relationships. I don’t trust any narrative when someone isn’t willing to say, you know, I made mistakes, too.

The bearskin hats are well cared for and last 80 years or more. It's safe to assume that they are handed down from one guard to the next. Various synthetics have been and are being tested, but so far, none have proven satisfactory, since they lose efficacy long before 80 years expires.

I’m of two minds on this. One, we don’t know the history of how the ivory for this particular scepter was obtained. It was made around 400 years ago. Maybe they didn’t actually kill the elephant(s) they got the ivory from. And then there is the tradition that the wife of a king uses it. However, if it’s seen as distasteful then I can respect not using it, as long as another scepter can be used. I kind of think of it like an heirloom fur coat. Probably best to just leave it in storage.
