Tim, I so appreciate your channel. I appreciate the new format also. And absolutely I'm in agreement with you, the new format is infinitely better than no format at all. And would you thank your company also for us please? We truly appreciate the fact that the accommodate us and you.
Hi Tim ... I find your "new format" is improving incrementally with each new video release. The audio is excellent ... no worries. "Keep on keeping on" my friend as these videos are both educational and entertaining every time. Stay safe Capt'n ... CUOTO
The institutional knowledge needed to do this critical job safely and efficiently in these ever changing scenarios is mind boggling. So many variables to master. And of course the biggest wild card is people. Tim is at the top of his game.
I might be simple, but I love this working boat footage, and especially TUG boat stuff. The Tugboat is the hardest working boat in the harbor as far as I can see.
Hey Tim … I’m one of those people who do prefer the old format, but I understand times change . Im really really grateful you are continuing to do videos at all . But definitely appreciate you are adapting to the new rules and are trying out different setups ! Keep up the great work …Happy Holidays, be safe
Love the bits of wisdom that you share on both of your channels. The azz reference is the same for tractors. The old tractors were all very heavy cast iron construction and you can do much more with an older small HP tractor than you can with the newer higher HP but lighter weight ones.
Thanks for the share Capt Tim! The boat views are new, seeing the STBD aft is very cool but my opinion whatever you can do it always is a privilege that I am able to sit on that rail and enjoy the day to day with the big thanks to the company which allows us aboard! Great great people there for sure. Nothing beats 'being in the wheelhouse' with you Cap, it's as great as any on the water training I can think of, and I could believe that this alone can inspire many to pursue a career in the Merchant Marine. BZ to the crew and #CUOTO ~__/)__*
Hey Tim any video you make is good to me I get my dose of 'I LOVE NY " from your videos. Although I moved to San Diego a decade ago, I do not own a boat, but in 19, I rented a 44-foot cat in the BVI. I learned a lot about drift and wind in docking. Your videos gave me an advantage. And as I sit as a land lover today I still am learning more in every video. FOR THAT I THAN YOU MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOUR FAMILY AND CREW REGARD FROM SAN DIEGO/FORMER NEW YORKER.
The new format is just fine. I'm happy that your company let's you film and share under some restrictions that are accepted and grateful for your time en effort to share your passion with us. CUOTO.
I'll be watching as long as you post videos. I pretty much lost my sea legs over the last few years so I don't even take my center console 22' out anymore. Talking to my son about whether we should sell it or if he wants to use it or not. Via your videos which ever format or here or the sailboat I still get to see what I enjoyed for a lot of years.
I have been watching your channel weekly for many years now and enjoy all your videos. I can understand why you had to make adjustments to keep being able to make the videos. I don't know the reasons why you had to change but imagine someone in the company thought that there may have been a liability issue if something out of your control happened while you were doing your job as captain. I admire your ability to learn the new technology with the different cameras and editing to make these videos. Thanks for all your efforts. Growing up in New Jersey I enjoy seeing all the industrial parts along the water but glad as a resident of the Pacific Northwest (Washington State) I don't live in NJ anymore. Happy Holiday and thanks again.
New format is definitely better than no video, for sure! The voice over is actually fine for listening--the problem I was having hearing you when you would give an "aside" is no longer evident, but I don't know if that's because of the new microphone or if it would have been eliminated anyway because of the voiceover. While I love wind (and standing, say, at the bow of a ferry with the weather full on in my face), it's no bueno when trying to listen to a video, and that is definitely gone with the voiceover. We understand why you're doing what you're doing, grateful to your company for working with you and continuing to allow these to happen, and good job on the new camera angles and continuing to gain photo skills. Keeps those brain cells alive and working!! Thanks again!
Hi Tim. Thank you for all your videos. My son, who is 27, is just starting out as a tankerman on this type of badge. Your videos have given me great insight to what kind of boat he will be working on and what life is like out there. Thank you.
I fully understand the employers concerns about distractions. That tug takes a good gulp of fuel. The 205 foot tug I was also took 50,000 gallons per refueling. One time by accident we took on about 20,000 gallons of jet fuel. It burned fine but we never took off.
Thanks Tim for the entertaining videos. Oftentimes while crossing one of the many bridges in the Metropolitan area I'll look down on the water and wonder what's that boat doing or where's it going? I did enjoy the old format better than the new but as you said this format is better than none at all. The Paquita videos about the Copper Coat really show what boat ownership can involve. The Tower Arch video was great and your video showing all the Victron equipment was educational and entertaining. I would like to see some Cape Cod Canal videos.
Thank you very much for watching and a bigger thank you for watching SVP videos! I am sure I have a few Cape Cod Canal videos from back in the beginning of the channel. Let me know if you cant find them. CUOTO
Hi Tim, I'm really enjoying the new format. I'm sure you will find a work around for picking up the comms, your editing of the 360 is getting there. I appreciate the time it must take to do it but you are doing a great job. Wishing you and the crew a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Prosperous New Year from across the "Pond" Fair Winds and Following Seas. 👍.
I have noticed that when you have worked with the assist, you have work with folks you know, and your crews work excellently together. Water ballet of a sort lol. Capt. Tim you sounded like yourself.
Sorry for being late watching the video Tim but you sound great and the video was great. You and your family have a very Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁🎄 be safe and God bless you and your family
Love the new 360 views. I also agree I preferred old format with you talking "live" but any content from you on the tug is preferable to none. I also would like you to pass on thanks and appreciation to your company in working with you to allow this new format. Much appreciated as it just shows the skill and knowledge of an industry I know nothing about.
I like your new format. I appreciate that your are Captain first and videografer second. Your expertise as Captain is why I continue to watch. I get the Captain Ron reference, a funny movie. CUOTO.
That was a skinny river you were working on. Checked it out on Google Maps ... 800 feet wide or so. About how you present the videos ... if there was no change, my ex-wife and I would still be married. As always, enjoyed the video. Stay safe ! Thank you, Sir.
Understand they want u focused. In case something happens, they don’t want the insurance company pointing out you were not focused on your primary job. Still very entertaining and informative in the current format! 🤗
The 360 is a lot of work for sure as you have to use the 360 software to aim the view and output a "flat" file that you edit into your video. But I think the results are very much worth it - great job!
I'm new so ,,, I'll say that i like it, like that you have a good company. It does the trade and company credit to have someone giving well thought out videos.
Hi Tim, I have been watching for years and really enjoyed when you showed the helm with steering and power controls as well as out thr front of the wheel house. Can you show this too? You have great audio and video.
Great video Capt with really interesting detail of what the assist tug is doing and why, keeping oil warm to reduce its viscosity for pumping. The new mic is doing a fine job, your audio is very clear. Thanks for all the time you put into getting this all ready to upload CUOTO
😅.. Captain Tim.. #55 Merry Christmas, Tim. And have a Happy New Year. You are a Very Good Tug and Barge Handler. And a Learner about Camera Photography. How much oil is that in "tons"?
Tim, I wonder if you could use a scanner type radio as the source for recording radio traffic. You could set it to prioritize your on board channel but also scan Traffic. Just a thought...
Hi Tim. The format is growing better with every iteration. Keep tweaking things as you go and improvement will happen. The microphone is fine if you hadn’t said anything I wouldn’t have noticed. Would you be able to plant a recording device in the upper house and then add the radio traffic into the video without violating your agreement with your employer? I realize the editing challenge would grow logarithmically but it’s a possible solution. ( I love thinking up stuff that make others have to work harder )🤠 Anyway, stay safe and avoid the lee shore. CUOTO, Ed
I've never used the voiceover feature so I was not aware of the limitations. Seems you mentioned that you can only watch a thumbnail to comment on what you are watching. A better alternative might be to watch the video in a full screen and record audio on another device. Then you add an audio track and import that audio. I'm assuming that you cannot have a recording device where you are actually working as it could be seen as a tempting distraction.
I gotta say Tim, I was always a tad concerned about you being distracted while telling us what you're doing. Miss the old format, but still love the videos. Greetings from South Kingstown and Merry Christmas!
These wide-angle "360" views are great! The chart does help to get orientation - sorry for the extra work... I bet there is a possibility to get it smoother - it's IT ;-D
Don't mind the new format. Anyone who says that the live narration was a distraction to your job performance may be mistaken. I learned boat handling from a fellow doing just that. All he did was explain his action and the reason for doing so. If his reasoning came to question, to himself, he would argue corrections untill it seemed right to him. Best way to learn logical reasoning.
Just wondering if you stay with the same bardge does your crew have to move all their stuff or do they stay on the tug sorry for the dumb question the same badge if not does the
Thank you for watching Ken. Generally, when doing bunker work, we drop one barge off and go to the next barge that needs to be moved. Contract work usually means we stay with only one barge. CUOTO
Lube oil boats- is one boat able to service all lube oils for a vessel? Takes used oil then refills? Hello from winter in North Thailand! Brrrr! 68 degrees Haha
Hi Tim, I am going to make comments as we go, 1. The chart plotter, can it be enlarged on demand? The way it is now doesn't work. OTHERWISE ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO.

SK? Are you one of my homies? 😂 Thank you very much for watching and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well. CUOTO
I like sail boats. I learned how to sail on a cat 🐈 boat!
Thank you very much for watching George. Be sure to watch SV Paquita! CUOTO
These wide-angle "360" views are great! The chart does help to get orientation - sorry for the extra work... I bet there is a possibility to get it smoother - it's IT ;-D
Thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Thank you very much for watching. The changes were placed by our customers. CUOTO
Just wondering if you stay with the same bardge does your crew have to move all their stuff or do they stay on the tug sorry for the dumb question
the same badge if not does the
Thank you for watching Ken. Generally, when doing bunker work, we drop one barge off and go to the next barge that needs to be moved. Contract work usually means we stay with only one barge. CUOTO
Sound is fine with this mic.
Good to know. Thank you very much. CUOTO
Lube oil boats- is one boat able to service all lube oils for a vessel?
Takes used oil then refills?
Hello from winter in North Thailand! Brrrr! 68 degrees Haha
Merry Christmas Frank. I think there are normally 3 of those lube oil boats here. They only service the ships that need lube oil. Seems to work. CUOTO
You sound good!😅
Thank you George. CUOTO
Isn't "peel em and boil em skip" from Captain Ron?
Not familiar with that one. But thank you very much for watching. CUOTO
Hi Tim, I am going to make comments as we go, 1. The chart plotter, can it be enlarged on demand? The way it is now doesn't work. OTHERWISE ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO.
Thank you for watching Bob. CUOTO
