    I've been teaching about spouse abuse since the 80s. Specialists say that nearly every woman who was murdered by an abusive husband had gut feelings that she was in danger. But she failed to protect herself and her children because she talked herself out of acting on her instincts. Women's Shelters urge women to listen to their gut feelings. I'm going to share this video link with my newsletter list. Thank you, Patrick, for a fascinating and informative presentation.

    This is very powerful. The more we immerse ourselves in something, the more able we are to learn it. I love the example of living in France, as opposed to taking a French class. More wisdom from Patrick...

    I was most interested in the 5 day emersion being better than 5 lessons in 5 weeks. Less distraction and more focus on one thing. Meaning your spare time is spent mostly on that one thing since you are so immersed. AR talks a lot about this. It makes sense. Good insight thank you. We all need repetition to build a muscle.

    My intuition leads me toward answers. It doesn’t just give them to me, it calls me to find them, and pushes me toward interesting places. It requires an open mind for a reason, because without one I wouldn’t tend to go the places that intuition leads me; this seems to be because it doesn’t push me towards a destiny, it just allows me to explore and realize the meaning and content within other things.

    • @water3602
      @water3602 6 років тому

      This could come in the shape of understanding whether someone is worth partnering with or not, in that it causes me to explore and experiment with this person in a subtle way that I’ve also intuitively developed, and use things that I can feel about the person that are credible as proven by past experiences, in order to quickly understand whether they’re worth it or not.

    "Outdoor people'' do this with predicting specific weather events for the particular day. I.e. they can look at storm clouds and predict whether those storms will affect them specifically. Although lightning has been known to hit up to forty miles away from a particular storm it is all risky. Being out in it almost daily year around gives you a a bit of a "psychic twinkle".

    I have several of these intuitions/abilities.
    When I was younger, I had many more and I obtained them much more quickly.
    What I found is that talking does major damage to the process which creates these abilities. I think it has something to do with the brain having to dumb itself down in order to be in sync with the English language.
    You increasingly have these clunky spoken-word-like thoughts instead of the advanced feels that Patrick was talking about.

    Just a cursory scroll through the comments and I can tell that there are many misconceptions of intuition running rampant through our understandings.
    Intuition IS real and is easily defined against cognition. Think of cognition as a mental process that allows for conscious analysis of a given subset of information. Intuition, on the other hand, is a mental phenomenon that occurs when something is understood immediately WITHOUT conscious reasoning. Conscious reasoning = cognition (as defined earlier).
    It’s really that simple. And just for kicks I’ll throw in instinct as it’s also easily misunderstood. Instinct is an evolutionarily engrained behavioral response to a given stimuli.
    Cognition = conscious analysis
    Intuition = understanding without cognition
    Instinct = behavioral response passed through DNA

    Well, intentional immersion is needed but i suppose its not enough. There are a lot of professors, doctors all over the world who are not able to make technological breakthrough. People never train it in ordinary schools. In my country we have only 1 inventor for 10000 people - thats the fact. I suppose we don`t have perfect intuition and make a lot of mistakes in our life because we do not train it . And it is possible to train intuition with some tools...

    Intuition has nothing to do with the sub-conscious, it is about the mind being out of the way, silent, so information comes forth from the Universe, the crown chakra, instinctual as in animals. Anything in the mind or sub-conscious is programmed from the current physical life experience.

    • @bennyzhang7930
      @bennyzhang7930 7 років тому

      If information, comes from the universe, as you stated, then I would like to introduce you to the prairie vole and montane vole:
      www.nature.com/news/gene-switches-make-prairie-voles-fall-in-love-1.13112
      &
      knowingneurons.com/2013/02/13/why-prairie-voles-fall-in-love-a-chemical-romance/
      Slight changes in gene chromosomes can cause differences in a prarie vole's behavoiur, to be more exact that slight difference is what causes the distinction between the montane vole and the prarie vole.
      If you believe that intuition is found within all animals, then one of these animals intuitively believes that it is best to stay with a single mate for all of its life, while for the other it intuitively believes that it is best to keep on mating with different voles of it's species for the rest of its life. You are mistaking intuition for instinct; Instinct may come to impact an intuitive decision, however, they are not the exact same thing.
      Unless of course you don't believe in the theory of evolution, then this information becomes meaningless.

    Lets not say this a super human ability. Its natural and mere human tendancy to predict things accurately by intiutions.... Its jus that we all have lost those god given qualities and started believing technology for everything... Funniest part of all is seeking Google for all solutions...

      Not necessarily true, I dont think that we can blame techonolgoy for a decrease of intuitive decision making. People are still able to ponder about a question and formulate educated guesses PRIOR to searching up the answer. After the search is done, people should take enough time to understand why the answer is the answer. I think it is more about how people view the process of education and learning. People who take pleasure in learning process information and attempt to use it in their daily lives are capable of retaining that information. While those who care only for answers, but not for the sake of learning fail to recollect those past experiences and are unable to use them

    Great video but wrong conclution, intution got nothing to do with experience or expertise. Intuition is developed through meditation. The more you meditate and reason in a calm state, the more intuition you will have. Calm reason and calm feeling lead to true intuition.

      Yes, because by meditating, people are able to guess answers to math problems. No, it is the collective experience of solving many math problems that I am able to make an educated guess to what the answer is. I haven't made any calculations of any sort, but because I've seen similar math problems in the past, I am able to formulate a hypothesis.

      Spiritual gurus have been hijacking historically perfectly defined words, redefined them to fit their own pseudo-gobbledygook and spread to the masses. They take advantage of people who seek truth about philosophical questions, but haven't been taught the importance of the scientific approach and source criticism. If you search "intution" on youtube today the "spiritual"-inspired definition results vastly outnumber the results of those that actually reflect its original definition, i.e the truth. So of course people will fall into stream of videos offering nothing but misinformation produced by modern snake-oil salesmen.
      But it's not just "intuition", which by the way refers to a psychological observation of the human mind's ability to gather information subconsciously and providing answers seemingly effortlessly. There's "Singularity", "Frequency", "Energy", "Quantum(followed by anything)", "Sense", "Perception", "Sight" and the list goes on.
      So my advice would be to actually look up the definitions of the words you are fed by spiritual hobbyists online and read about their relevant fields.

    Intuition is a faulty concept. Some decisions are too complex to be easily explained and then people call it intuition, when it's really just skill or luck. Sure, lots of decisions happen at a subconscious level, just driving to work or getting out of bed without waking up the family dog involves lots of skills that are hard to verbalize, but that doesn't mean driving to work or getting quietly out of bed is proof of "intuition".
    Even worse is "female intuition", which is when your wife tells you she knows something for sure, but she doesn't feel like explaining how she could possibly knows this.
