These bikes have been out in South Africa for ages. Good little machines. Very reliable, Great on bad roads and economical to run. We also have 125 and 190 versions.
Honda motorcycle dependability XR150L basic there is no sensors to go out complicated moving parts or electrical to go wrong with it I think the only thing that is missing that should be there is a Kickstart But just like most Hondas it has the history of dependability that you just want with your bike. My XR150L is a lot of fun . I've had one time that I've had to turn on the choke and it was below freezing it took a little bit to warm up where I could ride . That seems to be the same with all air-cooled carbureted engines. And I look forward to all the years of riding enjoying the fun times . I have had in the past with a trail 70 ! With my XR150L motorcycle.
This bike has 30yr old tech and has been sold in the Asia market for decades for around $1800, but when this same bike hits the states the price doubles and triples, stealerships across the country with outrageous out the door prices of 4k to nearly 5k for a 150cc bike, but hey that's what we are known for spending money we don't have because we will just print more, pathetic. Stealerships are giving fellow Americans the shaft with no lubrication and we are gladly taking 8t because we just have to have it, many Americans will not consider this cheap, the MSRP of $2971 means nothing, people act like that's out the door or something, why scream about how low the MSRP is when you know your looking at $4k to $4500k out the door
Even worse in Canada.... crazy the way we get burned on the price (around $6000 out the door up here) and riding season is only 5-6 months long. I would jump at one if the price was right. Canadians get no deals on anything anymore! Everything here is overpriced.
In california and with the emissions crap they charge a 1K overage for shipping, freight, assembly. OTD its ends up to be around 4300. Dealers that used to undercut are now out of business.
Removing the spark arrestor on the XR is not an option on the Philippines version. I did a full stainless Yoshimura exhaust, looks and sounds great and easily half the weight of the stock. It came with a silencer insert which I'm using. Still sounds great but not obnoxiously loud.
If anyone does have a hard time finding this XR150L in stock, you can look into a Bashan Storm, CSC TT250, or Tao TBR7. These are almost the same bike as this Honda is made in China by Sundiro Honda Motorcycle.
In my opinion this is a perfect beginners bike. I bought a 2023 KLX300SM as my first bike last month and I am loving it but for my purposes the XR150L is just a bit too small for me.
I love how it looks..125cc is a bit small 4 me...honda needs to make ..the (( exact same bike with in a 250cc version with fuel injection ))..I'd buy it in a second!!!
Everything in the states is expensive. Camry's now cost $35k, 4runners $50k and pickup trucks $80k. Out the door $4k is awesome for something that will be fun, reliable, and high quality because it is a Honda. Also, it gets like 120mpg. Like everyone says though, to each their own.
I agree! I moved from the US last year to the Philippines and bought my XR150 for $1815 OTD with registration. insurance, free helmet & t shirt included. I'm 6'2" and I fit fine + this bike is perfect for the roads and traffic here. In the US, I'd get a used DR650..
Of course you don't get a fuel gauge. It doesn't have Fuel Injection. No bikes with a carb ever have a fuel gauge (at least I've never seen one, correct me if I'm wrong). What's worse, in this day and age, is when you find bikes with FI (like Moto Guzzi and Yamaha XT250 and many others) that don't have a fuel gauge. Once you switch to FI, all bikes should have a fuel gauge.
For another thousand you can get the KTM 200 Duke with 6 speed, Fuel injection, liquid cooled, front/rear disc, ABS, LCD display with tach, fuel, temp, gear indicator, for $4,199
@@Darkmatter321 The small Honda engines can run for decades, no doubt. I still have a 1985 Honda XL250 that I've had since new, and it's never had any problems, still runs perfectly. KTM? I seriously doubt it could match that longevity.
I am only 5’07” and I like that I can touch both feet to the ground when I am sitting on the bike. I also do not like the quiet exhaust note. I would like more power and speed. I would also like fuel injection and a fuel gage and a tachometer.
Thanks for the feedback! The problem is I feel like I can’t negotiate on the bike. The closest dealer that had one is stock is 30 minutes away. And the dealers know they’re hard to find now.
Reset the trip odometer at each "fill-up" and you will know how many miles you have ridden: that is the "old school" fuel gauge.
Nowadays people want a fuel gauge app on their cell phones 🙃
@@MrCrazycook8 This is the truth!
do same on this bike
@@nirocku Yes!
The massive reserve tank also should put your mind at ease
I can't wait for mine to get here! It's unbelievable how fast these little bikes sell out!
I had a 1979 XL125 back in the day. Amazing similarities.

One thing i don’t like, all these guys pulling out the spark arrester and we will see a bunch o fires in more places..

@@danparker1976 This Honda is the same exact bike as the Chinese Hawk but the Hawk has a bigger engine, fuel injection, is a lot cheaper.

It's 150cc
That's what the crf300l is for.
in philippines they sell that for about $1.8k only
Definitely agree on the brake line issue. I think they make after market tachometers now but do you really need one? Love mine.
Lot of crying about no fuel gauge. Fill it up, reset the tripometer, ride till you hit reserve. Lather, rinse, repeat. Done.
Put front sprocket 1 tooth less , acceleration will be better but max speed will be same
I paid $4k out the door for mine. I already put on Pro Taper Bars and an LED Headlight. Looking to install an exhaust, air filter, and sprockets next.

My biggest complaint would be not having a center stand. How are we supposed to fix a flat tire?

Quite a bit heavier bike though
Honda reliability is a big deal too. All that tech does no good when it’s broke.
The KTM is almost twice the price in the Philippines and its a road bike. The Honda is definitely for rural roads you wouldn't take the KTM on.
