This car need more recognition it deserves, even if it's not the best in the class, the unique french touch can prove it stands out in class

The best looking DS so far, especially the rear! Wow! I love the whole exterior design, it is absolutely gorgeous and balanced. That video makes my day, and I can't wait for the driving part because this was way too short! Merci Thomas!

I dont understand these car companies.. they put a very fancy UI/User Interface for their infotainment system with alot of animations going on... and then they put a weak sauce CPU/GPU/SOCS inside!

Yeah but its for cost effectivenes and parts sharing, they problaly use the same computer across all new stellantis cars and problaly got a good deal from manufacturer.
@@danielstefanovic2604 i know about the dvpt of this infotainment generation: they thought they were better than everybody else, designed fancy graphics and made it run on a single core CPU with half the RAM compared to the others…
There is a CPU shortage and they were obliged to put last gen CPU for these models. Peugeot/DS communicated about this. They couldn't wait more to unleash their new 308 and DS4 models and had to do this.

I love the digital climate controls. My girlfriend won’t be able to change from hot to cold every 5 minutes !!!!!!
You have to admit that this is the best looking one in its class.
The best DS so far! I like the distinctive design and the luxury interior. I would prefer this over a BMW or a Mercedes....look at the interior! More luxurious than a Merc.

I love the design language of DS looks very sharp.
Paris is bringing iits design with fashion to the Car. French cars are setting the rules when it comes to model design.
My god how does DS vehicles look so good, its unworldly, doesn't seem to be designed by mere humans.
Hands down most beautiful french car today, in my opinion. Very nice - sporty and classy at the same time. It's nice to see Stellantis are doing nice stuff - fingers crossed for Alfa Romeo.

That's one stunningly beautiful car . Anyone that doesn't agree is in denial. I am French but I used to be a BMW guy all my life. Now, I have just ordered my DS... First French car for me in the last 25 years..... My brother bought a DS 3 crossback and it's just so fun to drive, love the comfort, love its look... French car makers are on a roll, they are really doing quality for the last 5-7 years. It's just the anglo press that still refuse to admit it. But that's okay, we know the Brits are super petty and love to trash talk the French... They will be the last ones in Europe to admit DS is quality. Last time I got to Germany in 2019, I saw French cars everywhere on their streets. French cars can't stop winning market shares everywhere in Europe and there is a reason to that. They are quality, as much as their German counterparts, and they cost less. You know that DS 4 is going to sell like crazy in every country.

I don’t understand why leather seats are to be considered as “old school”. One should not forget that most people are not vegan. So if they can get a car without leather it’s fine for them but their views and lifestyle should not be imposed on people who simply love the touch of leather in a car, nor should non vegan people be stigmatised as “old school”.
Having said this, thanks for the great review - I’m looking forward to test this car.

In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse?
The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car.
In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter.
Not using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
@@autogefuehl You are right in your argument, but when you present other cars with leather seats, you do not say a word about that.
I think that in the case of DS4 you are not very objective.
@@autogefuehl I hear your arguments but still, activism usually does not lead to unbiased reviews. Furthermore, top quality leather can only be obtained if the animals are well treated. If you were really concerned about environmental issues then you should address as well issues like how the components of lithium batteries are obtained - the harm to humans and the environment is huge. So all I would like to point out is that veganism applied to every day’s life, in general, and to the car industry, in particular, will not “save the world”. And finally, I’m convinced that fashion in general causes much more harm than the all the leather that is used in cars.

if there is something to resent then are those cheap-looking horizontal ventilation wheels... and the fact that dashboard seems a bit high and thick. but that might not appear so live when sitting in its cabine
I have DS7, and the car is pure pleasure all around. BTW, I also have heated windshield, so do your facts. Why did you forget about the HUD? It's a new feature. Cooled storage under arm rest. The leather quality in DS can be only compared to Porsche or much more expansive Germans, no one want to pay premium price and get cheap and very nasty seats and interior. It always seems when you review French cars, you always neglect things and give them hard times, but same features on German seem not to bother you that much...
when you watch our reviews of German cars you ll find criticism as well, I dont care about where a car gets built
finally a step in the right direction. Didn't like any of them ever since the DS5.
DS5 is still the best DS. The new DS models are some kind of the aesthetical fusion between an Audi and the glorious Disney land.

Fantastic looking car and very very cool that its found a unique style to bring to the market. However, yet another car company tries to do cool graphics on the UI and it just ends up looking a bit crap. Apart from that, really really cool car.
Nice car with some great technology that even premium german cars don't have, like nightvision. But its interior design is weird in some places. Still a worthwhile option.
You have done the camembert cheese test on the dashboard. All is ok , this car is premium.
Exterior Lexus RX ?
I have to be honest but I think the screen is too distracting when you want basic controls you use mostly as you drive.... I don't know why car manufacturers don't get this yet!
DS has successfully stolen the silhouette from the Infinity QX30 here, but it really suits her.
Finally, another DS worthy of the name. The interior has always been DS's strength and the interesting ergonomics will certainly not put anyone off. It could be a success.
I hope this is better than the DS3 Crossback. I had one and had to reject it when I had repeated failings with the ADAS system.
Also the touch only interior drove me mad, it's so unintuitive.

The climate controls should be knobs or sliders.

I really don't get why people always complain about the lack of physical button for air conditioning. I mean, do you guys change the temperature 20 time per trip or what? Personnaly, I set it to 20 degrees and that's it...if it's 20 outside, it will blow air from outisde. if it's hotter outside, it will cool the air, and if it's cooler, it will heat the air...but I will always get 20 degrees in my car, that's the principle of automatic air co...
In rreality, I probably change the temperature twice or thrice a year, because for some reasons (being wet for instance) I may want it hotter or cooler than 20, but definitely not something that requires a specific button on the dashboard in my opinion....

This is a superb design inside and out. It's nice to see DS being given the budget it needs to be so individual. I think it has the potential to become a mainstream brand, the same as Cupra will.

the extensions on the bottom of the doors 'to prevent mud and water coming in" was on the Mercedes W220 and W203 and they were the greatest source of rusting at the bottom of the doors as salt, grit and water would get trapped between the rubber molding surrounding the metal. I know this first hand and speak from experience.

PSA group’s reliability is already better than Mercedes and Audi, according to a study made by european car costumers, from 2018 to 2020. This actually shock me lol ! BMW is still ahead in this ranking but it’s undeniable that french automakers take a step forward with reliability…

@@Arthur-hv9tf unfortunately down here in Australia Citroen never got over their horrific reputation in the 70s and 80s, so customer perception suffers. People here think German is best, despite all the evidence that points to Japanese supremacy in terms of quality.
lexus is a reference for reliability but they need a better design premium , thre is a lack of something that only european premium has . DS is not at this level yet. They are in the middle, they need reliability and their unique premium design, brand image.
