Hey control, is this a reupload or retake? Because I feel like I've already watched your album reactions from Mariah Carey until The Rarities 😵 or am I just going crazy? 😂
Alfred Roy and Mariah were estranged. She had limited contact with him. He was proud of her debut and actually thought that was her only album. She talked to him briefly in '96, but when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2002, they reconnected. She found out he thought her debut song was about him abandoning her and wasn't sure if she wanted to see him. He kept some memorabilia about her childhood and progressing music career. They became close, but he lost his battle later that year. He left her his car which she had restored and showed it in the music video for "Beautiful". His favorite flowers were sunflowers, which is why they're featured at the end of the Through the Rain video. She often has them in her dressing room before a show, and takes her kids to sunflower patches to tell them about the grandfather they never got to meet.
She wanted The One to be the first single but her label didn’t let her do that and chose Through The Rain to be the first single instead. This album deserves so much more recognition. I love it so much. Also now that you’ve listened to Charm you’ve listened to the the Trilogy of Derek Jeter inspired guitar ballads. My All, After Tonight, and I Only Wanted. Finally, Clown is the first song she wrote about Eminem.

Charmbracelet holds a very special place in my heart! It’s the album after her breakdown, it should’ve had a different first single (“The One”, hello!!!), and it was the first release right after I became a lamb! I have my own favorites, but I think we can all agree that The One is a masterpiece! This song alongside Breakdown and Always Be My Baby are indeed We Belong Together’s parents. Also I really love Bringin On The Heartbreak, I really wish she’d cover more 80’s rock songs, it fits her range so well! Thank you for yet another entertaining reaction! Can’t wait for the next one!

i only wanted is the final song that completes a trilogy that tells a story with a not really happy ending it starts with "my all" where she expresses her desire for the person, willing to risk her life to have him again and then it continues in "after tonight" where she wonders if she'll ever have that again, if he'll truly come back after he goes and it ends in "i only wanted" where, as you could see, he didn't come back and she ended up alone. that's depressive af, and i live for this
I honestly agree. I had never even heard of this album/any of these songs really before I started listening to her music on this channel. It's a great album though so I don't get why

We missed your reaction on her Endless Love with Luther Vandross (1994) 😭😭😭 And the #1s album (1998) •Do You Know where you're going to •I Still Believe •I Still Believe Pure Imagination Remix •When You Believe (Prince of Egypt soundtrack) with late Whitney •Sweetheart 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Subtle Invitation is THE Hardest song in Charmbible! And it's the most favourite among fans from the album mainly because of the jazzy blues take and her going off like no one's business at the end!
Also I think the water sounds in "I Only Wanted" are supposed to signify its resemblance to My All and its music video! Lullaby is a direct sequel to "The Roof" It made me love it more. Derek Jeter has a bunch of amazing songs written for and about him lol. She also dated Luis Miguel prior to this and during the Rainbow Era so some songs are callbacks to that relationship. BOTHB and Open Arms are my fav Mariah Covers!!
Excited for the next album... E=MC2... My fav aside from butterfly and daydream.. Sending love from the Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ohhh u edited “Yours” reaction out of the video?!?! Lol 😂 I’m glad you enjoyed this album. It’s one of her most underrated work, and a start of a new era for Mimi. And btw Clown was a dis track to Eminem 😂 and yes, I and the whole Lambily agree that “The One” should have been a single. And there was actually yet another single that is part of this album’s deluxe edition, “I Know What You Want” ft. Busta Rhymes, which is the one single that is known from this project. Cheers! Till next time, cause the emancipation of Mimi is next! POW 💥
Yours got skipped when I edited this sadly, but I've uploaded it separately for anyone who wants to watch (link in description) and I've actually done TEOM already as well! I didn't know there were deluxe tracks for this album though so I'll have to check those out :)
I ❤❤ this album!! Her raspiness, airy, whispery and soft voice is delightful and elegant. She sings with grace and elegancy (especially with her effortless high notes), definitely her BEST album still to date. 🤩😘
I haven’t seen enough of your channel to know whether you react to live performances as well or not, but one lovely live performance of Mariah’s during this time is her cover of the song “You and I,” which is a tribute to the legendary Stevie Wonder
As always, LOVED your reaction and input! ❤️ Charmbracelet is a Lamb favorite! 🐑 Ps: When you said "if The One wasn't released as a single, everyone should be fired!", I know that all the Lambs on the Land were screaming and kicking. Lol Because that was intended to be the first single but the record company pushed for Through The Rain against Mariah's wishes.
This is my second fav Mariah album and its so ahead of its time musically on MOST songs. the album is mostly in head voice (Similar to 2018's Caution) and has some very swift and subtle transitions that give it the illusion that it is simple. But the vocals are some of her hardest and very complex! Critics were also paid by (guess who😂) to give the album bad reviews so that her career would not revive after Glitter. This however was an album that grew on me immensely even though I liked it initially because it's an intense hearing experience especially with headphones so I hope that happens for you too. It's extremely lyric and vocal production heavy which I LOVE. Although very different in sound than her other albums, it sets more of a precedence for her sound post-2003 and till now. In My opinion Boy and You Got Me could've been BIG songs but since Mariah is known as the "Songbird Supreme" they didn't quite let her deviate from her typical ballad sound. and the Giltter drama only led to Through the Rain not being supported by US Radio she was blackballed and it peaked at #86 with sales alone. (Airplay impacted charts more than sales back then, similar to streaming today) It was a big global smash tho. Moving forward you will have very lyric heavy songs and a plethora of vocals that seem easy but are complex and layered. Also a side note- Don't worry about your reactions being too long, I think I can speak for all lambs on this but we love hearing people respectfully admire and love her music. Your editing game has gotten so much stronger too!!! Can't wait for you to reach 2k followers! Also, I just remembered.. This could be a short video but The Emancipation of Mimi Ultra Platinum edition has some bops. There are like 5 extra songs. Maybe you could re-listen to emancipation in the background and react to the Ultra Edition while giving some commentary to see the transition from Charm, Emancipation and E=MC²
Ahh thank you for all this!! I loved this album and I agree that this really set the tone for her music going into the second part of her career. Also, I never really worry about the length of the videos, just about them getting copyrighted 🙄 You will be getting the Ultra Platinum songs from TEOM though, I recorded it the other day 😊 Not sure how soon it'll go up but definitely this month. Thank you for always watching and supporting!!
I love this album so much! It's often forgotten about because it fell in between the chaos of Glitter and the triumph of Emancipation. This album didn't have any hits on the hot 100, her voice was criticized, and it was considered a commercial flop. It's amazing nonetheless
Also, "Clown" is allegedly about Eminem, "Lullaby" is a continuation of "The Roof" talking about her relationship with Derek Jeter and Kelly Price sang backup for Mariah for several years before starting a career of her own
Apparently Mariah use to call up Ozzy Osbourne and sing black Sabbath songs to him over the phone during Christmas time back in the 90s 😌 she likes her rock
I really love your reactions because you are so deep ❤️ My favorite song of this album is "My saving grace" also is one of the reasons why I'm a fan 😂😂😂 When you predicted that "bringing on the heartbreak" was an 80's so g I thought "wow you are brilliant" and then you say something like "I'm brilliant" 😂😂😂 I really like that you do very nice analysis, you live the moment and enjoy it 😂😂😂 thank you so much.
i’ll add a few points to not reiterate what everyone is saying in the comments. 1. the album is titled "charmbracelet" because each song represents a part of a whole, like a charm in a bracelet. they're pieces that make up a story. also, i think that around that time mariah obtained a charmbracelet that belonged to her grandmother (im not 100% sure tho). you can find the booklet online 2. the album starts with through the rain (which is represented by a raindrop) to signify that she went through hardship (glitter era). the album ends on the remix (represented as the sun) because sis made it through the rain and the sun came again. 3. i have a theory as to why "my saving grace" is placed after clown. it's because, some, if not all the songs before this (except clown which is about eminem) are about luis miguel, her boyfriend from rainbow to 2001ish. actually, the media after the glitter fiasco said that she'd had a breakdown because luis miguel broke up with her. "my saving grace" acts as a divider in the storyline because the songs after are about derek jeter. mariah hasn't spoken about this but it seems that at some point in the early 2000s her and derek reconnected so he's the inspiration for themes present in you had your chance, subtle invitation, miss you (that's not in the album), etc. it is also possible that my saving grace is placed there chronologically since it represents how she sought faith because of glitter at the end of her relationship with luis. lullaby is the roof pt. 2 and the reference at the end is intentional. subtle invitation also has a reference to anytime you need a friend which is derek's favorite mariah song and my all which is another song about him. in the album there are two mini-stories that comprise a whole. the general one is through the rain --> through the rain remix. all the stuff from glitter up until she literally makes it through the rain. then the one --> clown which is mini love story 1. then you had your chance --> bringin' on the heartbreak which is the storyline about her reencounter with derek. also, mariah is dealing with the death of her father who was suddenly diagnosed with terminal cancer despite being very healthy and strong his whole life which is what she sings about in sunflowers for alfred roy. 4. the charmbracelet era was intended to be mariah's comeback but it didn't really work out. the era had similar success to glitter. charmbible nonetheless was very big outside the US, particularly in asia where through the rain is still a very well-known song. 5. between glitter and charm era mariah was dragged by the critics like never before. even though the album is not bad whatsoever, the critics really went after her because that's what they were expected to do due to the media's narratives. they equated her commercial downfall to her songs being shit and her not being able to sing anymore. they really criticized her approach because she sings in a breathy way the majority of the time despite her approach being exactly the same as in butterfly (some lambs even call charm the whisper album). they said her voice was weak and that she'd lost the magic she had in the 90s. this is why in the next album, the emancipation of mimi, she barely whispers and instead she takes a very belty approach. 6. i only wanted is the end of the latin songs trilogy that are my all, after tonight and i only wanted. we don't know to what extent mariah made this sequence consciously but the trilogy still works because of the style of the songs and the storyline that is produced by the lyrics. 7. the charmbracelet tour is the most extensive mariah has done to date. mariah is not really a touring artist and recently she revealed that she doesn't like touring that much but that she does it for the fans. the tour, unlike the album, was praised across the board because she sounded amazing. her voice was in really good condition and she was incredibly consistent. mariah being consistently in a good vocal state is hard to achieve because of her vocal nodules. 8. this album is also referred to as the "lost mariah carey album" because the public doesn't know it at all. after glitter people dismissed her, so charmbible is mostly known by the lambs. the public only remembers glitter because of the drama and the emancipation of mimi because it was her big triumphant comeback. and to some extent, the album wasn't really meant to be a big commercial thing. if you notice, the album is missing that one song, a fantasy, heartbreaker, honey, etc. that could help anchor the album commercially. the one or boy could've been better lead singles than through the rain, but they still don't have a certain element that her previous lead singles had. mariah made an album that truly reflected her life at that point and the styles that she liked. it's an album for the fans, and it's still a fan favorite as you can probably tell. you should definitely check out miss you and there goes my heart. miss you is included on the remixes album which you should surely react to.
Charmbracelet is similar to Caution in that regard in my opinion because of how they were never really intended to be commercial successes but just provide enough of a buffer period between the preceding and succeeding albums. Because of the drama that ensued between them. It sucks but both albums are my top 2 and had so much potential. and to be honest I think that The One could've been No.1 had it been given an explosive video and promotion. But maybe it would've been blackballed by radio like Through the Rain.
Point 3 definitely makes so much sense!! Always love your comments and all your insight. It's such a bummer that this album is so unknown by the public but at the same time it's kind of special for her fans to have this album just for them. So many incredible songs on here. 👏🏻❤️❤️
I have very special moments and memories about "Charmbracelet" one of my favorites from Mariah , while It was realesed a lot of artists were in their peak, i was 12 !! So Christina , Avril, Britney , Alicia , Ashanti, Pink ,J.lo, Evanescence ruled the world, and i always used to bring "Charmbracelet" in my walkman.😍😍 A very RnB álbum , LOVE It . Btw , Through the rain saved my Life several times.🥺
oh and also the man speaking on "the one" and "you had your chance" is Jermaine Dupree, he was one of the producers and he's a friend of hers since 95, i believe. he has a song with her called "sweetheart" you should definitely check it !
Lol I think with charm since people where trying to leave her in the 90’s because glitter was a 2000’s album set in the 80’s 😭 so she let go of the old singing style a embraced her whisper and vocal breaks a lot more and f5’s where just popping out somehow because of glitter the album did not chart really at all and got the same reaction as glitter really
My take is in 'I Only Wanted', she is singing asking for someone to stay but he's come and left, much like the nature of a tide that comes in one night and is gone by morning hence the sound of waves at the end.
While healing from her breakdown, her father passed away. Leaving her another struggle and pain. She chose to write a song form him, to ease the pain away I guess. Sunflowers was the major aesthetic of this album, for it is the favorite flower of his father.
Loved your reaction, as always!! I think you figured out that Lambily outrage will ensue if you try to skip s track. 🤣 MC is always ahead of the times. My fav song is also The One. Finally we are in harmony! No, it wasn't a single, which is offensive. One of several MC album releases that were mismanaged. Love Clown too. 🤡 I'm assuming Lullaby is about Derek Jeter since The Roof was about him. Would highly recommend her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey w/ the Audiobook (MC herself is telling her story). I listened and followed along in the book. Even if you're not a super fan it is worth reading. Patiently waiting for E=MC2 💜💜💜
I hope you don't skip the remixes. I was only mildly aware of Mariah til I got this album (from the clearance bin lol). Then I just had to listen to the original songs so I bought her past albums. I have been a fan ever since.
This is the album that i can listen to every single day of the month, then get bored with it for the next few months. I don't understand about my relationship with this album. "My Saving Grace" is one of my most favorite songs, though. It's one of the songs that i always revisit once every few days. That song is just so powerful, and the lyrics are just so relatable with how i often feel. "The One" is such a banger. I know many people have expressed how disappointed they are with it not being the lead single. If i remember correctly, she already shot the music video in Japan, but she was charged for filming the music video without permission, and it ended up with her shooting the music video for Boy (I Need You) instead. I don't really like the song, but the music video is really cool! "You Got Me" kinda has the same vibe with "The One" in my opinion. I also think "Through The Rain" was a great lead single, and "The One" was a much better candidate as the second single. I think we have a very different taste in music. I personally much prefer a huge ballad song to a dance track, and Mariah is the best at making those types of songs. It's also kinda weird how i became a Lamb 12 years ago without really paying attention to the lyrics of her songs and was only focused on her vocals instead. I only started to really pay attention to her lyrics around 3-4 years ago when i was 19.
Haha amazing how without even fully grasping the lyrics, you felt drawn and connected to her music just off vocals and productions alone. I've had the same experience with music I loved when I was younger and then listening again as an adult and connecting on a whole nother level. Kinda makes the music feel brand new again ✨
There is so much to say about this album. So underrated and undervalued but so good. This album was basically a catharsis album after Mariah's notorious breakdown of 2001 which is a long story for another time. Going into a new label this was the first album of that deal. Through the Rain is a major hit in the Phillipines and has been sung by some great Filipino singers. This album reached moderate success in the US but not as much as it deserved because Mariah served. Boy (I Need You) is an r&b adaptation of Cam'rons rap song Oh Boy which came out a year before. Mariah heard the production loved it and had to get in and make a rendition of her own. I think you might have skipped Yours but yours is vocal heaven. Clown is an Eminem diss track. That song is the prelude to her Obsessed track of 2009. I only wanted is part of what the lambs refer to as being the final parts of Mariahs trilogy. I only wanted is the final of a trilogy that includes I Don't Wanna Cry from her first album and My All from her Butterfly album. similar sounds and themes. Lullaby is the second part of her song The Roof from her Butterfly album. Similar sounds and themes. This album is fantastic and to think critics from this time were saying that Mariah lost her voice. But not only was Mariah's voice in it's second peak but the writing on this album is second only to Butterfly. The lyricism on this album is some of her best.
I absolutely love the way she has song trilogies/continuations over the course of multiple albums. This is quite a way to bounce back after a breakdown. I didn't skip Yours, it ended up getting skipped when I edited but I've uploaded the reaction separately for anyone who would like to see (link in the bio of this video) thank you for all this information!
Are we going to revisit the emancipation of mimi for pt ii DELUXE VERSION? There is a song that I want you to react. For me it's an overkill somg it's called so lonely (one and only) pt iii And her 17th number 1 don't forget about us.
Yesss. I was looking forward to this reaction! Idk if this has been suggested yet, but since you’ve already reacted to The Emancipation of Mimi, can you react to the songs on the Ultra Platinum edition as well as the bonus tracks Sprung & Secret Love, before you go on to e=mc2? You won’t regret it!
The video for through tbe rain is amazing and tells the real life story of her parents!!! You should def read her memoir after ypu finish this discogrophy..p.s the clown is Eminem and lullaby & subtle invitation is about derek jeter. She wrote a hanful of songs about him for Butterfly and obviously ran into him and wrote a couple more, lol! She refrences "the roof" cuz that one was about him and she wanted to let him know not to belive the rumors because a lot was said during the Glitter era. I still think they should have been together and especially after reading the book you can see how special thier timw was together for her.
Awww I figured Subtle Invitation was about the same person as The Roof because I caught the reference but I couldn't remember who that was. I honestly can't wait to hear the memoir after I finish the albums 👏🏻 Thanks for watching Heather!
“Who are you??” took me rofl 😆😂 “Lullaby” (like “The Roof” & “My All” off the Butterfly album; as well as “Crybaby” off the Rainbow album) was written for Derek Jetter. 🎶
Tidbits: I'm not sure why the comment section is saying The One was supposed to be the debut. It wasn't. It was going to be the second single and fan demanded. Carey even made a music video for it. Clips were used in the Boy music video instead. The label screwed it up. At the last possible second, they switched the single from The One to Boy for the DUMBEST reason ever: too many acts had a single with the same name. So, what? Let the best title win! They didn't promote the fact it had been switched. Fans didn't know what was going on. We weren't sure if Boy was a promotional single or what, because T.O. was promoted for months. They just put out Boy, said nothing, released a video, and dropped it as single. It flopped. Fans were so mad they had record high of hand written complaints.
My top 5 in this album are: 1. Through the Rain 2. Bringin' On the Heartbreak 3. The One 4. My Saving Grace 5. Through the Rain Remix feat. Kelly Price & Joe
What happened to "Yours"? Anyways Charm is one of my fave albums from MC. Through The Rain is the song that made her more famous in the Philippines and everyone in our country knows that song. The One is my top song too. Thank you once again and can't wait for your E=MC² reaction, you will definitely love that one.

equal powers!! yes I agree 👏🏻
We missed your reaction on her Endless Love with Luther Vandross (1994) 😭😭😭
And the #1s album (1998)
•Do You Know where you're going to
•I Still Believe
•I Still Believe Pure Imagination Remix
•When You Believe (Prince of Egypt soundtrack) with late Whitney
•Sweetheart
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
okay we will have to circle back to that hahaha
Subtle Invitation is THE Hardest song in Charmbible! And it's the most favourite among fans from the album mainly because of the jazzy blues take and her going off like no one's business at the end!
NO ONE'S business!! she had no right
Seeing people enjoying these masterpieces feels so good! Love this!! 🐑🦋♥️
Aww thank you for watching Geronimo!!
The way she raps in Clown, she's mocking a rapper lol 😅🤣
This album is sooo awesome...lullaby...i never stopped listening to it...😍😍😍
mesmerizing 😋
YASS! The love for Clown is SO deserved
👏🏻👏🏻 a masterpiece
Yasss!!! I love that too!! A song to Diss M&M
Sending love from the Philippines

Oh, has he already done TEOM? Never realised
Just checked, I’ve now realised he has 😂
Love to you Paul! ❤️
yesss Einstein is in my top 3 too
EXCITED for you to hear Subtle Invitation 💙💙💙
She’s a lamb!,! Welcome to the family boo!!
❤️😊
her vocal delivery on this album is one of a kind, that's for sure
11:00pm? Gurl....
I'll wait though 😌
You are too funny - your Mariah reactions are the best. And your random hand movements and expressions and sound effects/captions kill me every time.
😭🤣 thank you!
I haven’t seen enough of your channel to know whether you react to live performances as well or not, but one lovely live performance of Mariah’s during this time is her cover of the song “You and I,” which is a tribute to the legendary Stevie Wonder
Oh wow! If I do any live performances, I'll do so after I get through the albums and the music videos :)
Don't forget to react to her Remix album next. It's fire 🔥🔥
We're going to come back to the remix album later but we will definitely get there!
I'm forever annoyed by these labels not listening to her and what she wants to do 🙄 Thanks for watching! ❤️
You should react to Mariah singing The One live in 2003 on MTV 🧡
Ugh yes, I want to watch a bunch of her live performances eventually
I'm loving your reactions of Mariah's discography 💖
Thank you :)
@@iamcontron do you have any intentions to react her live performances? I'd love to watch it.
Gurrrll....I can't wait to see your reaction!!!
22:26 Wait til you hear her cover song on her Memoir's of an Imperfect Angel album 🎤🐦
uh-oh 😋
I Only Wanted is absolutely one of my fav songs from her
still one of mine as well!! I listen to it all the time 🤍
I love this album so much! It's often forgotten about because it fell in between the chaos of Glitter and the triumph of Emancipation. This album didn't have any hits on the hot 100, her voice was criticized, and it was considered a commercial flop. It's amazing nonetheless
Also, "Clown" is allegedly about Eminem, "Lullaby" is a continuation of "The Roof" talking about her relationship with Derek Jeter and Kelly Price sang backup for Mariah for several years before starting a career of her own
I'm shocked after listening to this that it wasn't a huge success. SUCH a solid record 👏🏻
Apparently Mariah use to call up Ozzy Osbourne and sing black Sabbath songs to him over the phone during Christmas time back in the 90s 😌 she likes her rock
I need more rock Mariah!!
@@iamcontron she has an alternative rock album that she made during the same time she made daydream.
I keep re-watching your reacting cause I think you’re hilarious.
“Not that. Not one note” cracked me up. Lol
Thank you!! 🥰

UGH check the pinned comment I just posted. I'll put it up later, thank you for mentioning this, I didn't even realize 😭
Boy I need You and The One are my faves
Love another mariah video 💛 this album has underrated bops that are not talked about enough! Glad we all have taste here!
👏🏻not 👏🏻talked 👏🏻about 👏🏻enough
You should buy her memoirs book! It was just released last year in September
I really love your reactions because you are so deep ❤️
My favorite song of this album is "My saving grace" also is one of the reasons why I'm a fan 😂😂😂
When you predicted that "bringing on the heartbreak" was an 80's so g I thought "wow you are brilliant" and then you say something like "I'm brilliant" 😂😂😂
I really like that you do very nice analysis, you live the moment and enjoy it 😂😂😂 thank you so much.
aww thank you so much Maro! ❤️
The One deserved to be a single.. You Got Me is my jam..
I've been upset about it for days
Clown is a diss track towards Eminem
The one 🦋
You are my most fav reactor and all your honest reaction making me loving you more 🙆🏽♂️ ♥️ p/s the song Clown actually she refering to EMINEM 🤣🤣🤣
your fav reactor!? 😢 thank you thank you ❤️
CANT WAIT YESSSSS
i’ll add a few points to not reiterate what everyone is saying in the comments.
1. the album is titled "charmbracelet" because each song represents a part of a whole, like a charm in a bracelet. they're pieces that make up a story. also, i think that around that time mariah obtained a charmbracelet that belonged to her grandmother (im not 100% sure tho). you can find the booklet online
2. the album starts with through the rain (which is represented by a raindrop) to signify that she went through hardship (glitter era). the album ends on the remix (represented as the sun) because sis made it through the rain and the sun came again.
3. i have a theory as to why "my saving grace" is placed after clown. it's because, some, if not all the songs before this (except clown which is about eminem) are about luis miguel, her boyfriend from rainbow to 2001ish. actually, the media after the glitter fiasco said that she'd had a breakdown because luis miguel broke up with her.
Wait point 3 makes so much sense !!!!!!!! ugh you're a genius
I've really enjoyed your reactions and thank you for having the lyrics up too!
so glad you enjoy! thank you for watching :) ❤️
The one is definitely my favorite on this album
One of my favourite albums ever! The 3:55 note in bringing on the heartbreak is my favourite whistle note she’s ever done!
truly insane
I have very special moments and memories about "Charmbracelet" one of my favorites from Mariah , while It was realesed a lot of artists were in their peak, i was 12 !! So Christina , Avril, Britney , Alicia , Ashanti, Pink ,J.lo, Evanescence ruled the world, and i always used to bring "Charmbracelet" in my walkman.😍😍 A very RnB álbum , LOVE It .
Btw , Through the rain saved my Life several times.🥺
Ahhh what an incredible time for music!! 😍
She actually wanted The One to be her lead single for that album but they wanted Through The Rain 😩
and I'll never not be mad about it
oh and also the man speaking on "the one" and "you had your chance" is Jermaine Dupree, he was one of the producers and he's a friend of hers since 95, i believe.
he has a song with her called "sweetheart" you should definitely check it !
Clown is actually about Eminem. 🤡
My take is in 'I Only Wanted', she is singing asking for someone to stay but he's come and left, much like the nature of a tide that comes in one night and is gone by morning hence the sound of waves at the end.
ohhhhh that would be so poetic if that's true
Through the rain sounds so much better live!
03:08 LOL. She sampled a song called oh boy by camron!
LOL okay well that makes a LOT of sense!
While healing from her breakdown, her father passed away. Leaving her another struggle and pain. She chose to write a song form him, to ease the pain away I guess. Sunflowers was the major aesthetic of this album, for it is the favorite flower of his father.
every album era she's going through something traumatic 😭
Clown is for that candy brand 🍬
not that candy brand!! 🤣
My favorite album!!
Loved your reaction, as always!! I think you figured out that Lambily outrage will ensue if you try to skip s track. 🤣
MC is always ahead of the times. My fav song is also The One. Finally we are in harmony! No, it wasn't a single, which is offensive. One of several MC album releases that were mismanaged. Love Clown too. 🤡
I'm assuming Lullaby is about Derek Jeter since The Roof was about him.
Would highly recommend her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey w/ the Audiobook (MC herself is telling her story). I listened and followed along in the book. Even if you're not a super fan it is worth reading.
Patiently waiting for E=MC2 💜💜💜
We finally have the same fav track?! I love this for us
I hope you don't skip the remixes. I was only mildly aware of Mariah til I got this album (from the clearance bin lol). Then I just had to listen to the original songs so I bought her past albums. I have been a fan ever since.
I'm not going to skip them but I'm going to come back to them later!
I only wanted ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The video for through tbe rain is amazing and tells the real life story of her parents!!! You should def read her memoir after ypu finish this discogrophy..p.s the clown is Eminem and lullaby & subtle invitation is about derek jeter. She wrote a hanful of songs about him for Butterfly and obviously ran into him and wrote a couple more, lol! She refrences "the roof" cuz that one was about him and she wanted to let him know not to belive the rumors because a lot was said during the Glitter era. I still think they should have been together and especially after reading the book you can see how special thier timw was together for her.
