Oh, you noticed!!! :) When I was cutting the back yoke, I could barely cut into the flower print, but I thought it was worth it, because it add a little subtle detail in the back. :) he he, I am so happy these videos put a smile in your heart, Helena. Thank you for being here :)
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I love your creative energy, I always find your projects so inspiring. Congratulations on your lovely new machine. May you have a long and happy sewing journey toge5her! Thank you for sharing Alisa 🙏🤗
OMG, I still have no stinkin' clue WHERE did it come from??? No idea.... completely blank and when I found it - it was a complete shock. i did not see it from the right side of the fabric at all, then when I turned it, I was like - what is this?
This blouse is a spectacular success! There is a gentle beauty about it, just perfect. Your Bernette is a lovely machine. My 41 year old Bernina with just a few basic stitches still runs wonderfully. Thank you for sharing your ideas, tips, instructions and creativity with all of us. I love your videos and all the member perks! ❤
Two more hints for preventing chewing: Use a leader for every seam start. Quilters do this, but it helps in every project. Also start ON the fabric; This works well if you are going to backstitch. I start in about 3/8 inch and immediatly sew back to the edge and then fowrard. Congratutation on you new Bernette!!!!! Next time you might consider moving up to a Bernina. The do cost more but I can tell the difference everytime I sew.
Just catching up on your videos, but i have to say. I know this is a sewing video, but the part with your cat just melted my heart!!! Thanks again for sharing your magnificent creativity.
Awwww, Eva is our sweet kittie and she is the best :) I am not sure if you have seen this video, but you will be laughing - ua-cam.com/video/_RwIv7uAfII/v-deo.html
I was delighted to see that your new machine is the same as mine ! I've had it for one year and I'm still learning. Looking forward to picking up tips and tricks from you. My old machine is a manual Bernina and it is a real workhorse. I cannot part with it.
The magical appearing hole. This made my day. Not that there was a hole but I just saw my mom 50 some years ago. My mom made almost all our clothes growing up. I LOVED all the fabric and creating stuff. We had a very small house so my and my sister's bedroom was also her sewing room, our play room and the deep freezer was in there too. So she had all her sewing stuff in a dresser. I would sneak and cut a little piece off so I could make something, Of course I didn't ask permission and of course the cut usually happened in the center of the yardage. Yes I was naughty. I have learned. I still love sewing. And this just gave me fond memories with my mom.
Came out so cute and it looks fabulous on you. Beginner at wanting to sew. So for now doing a lot of watching. Love how you make your own patterns. Your a good teacher.
You can totally do it and I am so happy that you are here. Here's the perfect video to get you started with both - pattern drafting and sewing - ua-cam.com/video/qr6gXhevWw8/v-deo.html
When you found a hole in the fabric... I believe that was the most polite freakout I have ever witnessed 😄 you are so sweet. The blouse looks phenomenal!
What a beautiful result from a large scrap of (beautiful) fabric! So inspiring. :) And congrats on the new machine and the sponsorship! Looks like a great machine! And I agree, I've always bought my machines from a dealership rather than Amazon. Honestly, it's often cheaper at a dealership than Amazon anyhow!
How a machine does buttonholes is such a key consideration for me. I love my old Elna 500 that my mom bought in 1983, but I dreaded making buttonholes with it. I thought it was just my own inexperience and didn't realise how worn the buttonhole foot was. I tracked down a new replacement buttonhole foot (an original Elna part - a solid-looking metal one!!) and buttonholes are now a DREAM to sew. I don't even mind that it's still an old-school 4-step process, and I have to turn the knob between stitches 😄 It goes so quickly and the holes are so neat and consistent.
Adorable! I love the way it turned out and I especially loved the collar. Also, Alysa (sp), I love your cute accent and the way you speak English. Never, ever let anyone tease you about that! It's adorable and ignore mean people if they leave rude comments!!
Wow, this is a stunning blouse. I love the pattern, it is so beautiful. Since I last commented by saying I did not really love my Bernette B38, I decided to use her and now I actually do love her. I think I do not do well with changes so I took my Singer to my MIL who was very happy. I made a lovely patchwork bag with the Bernette B38 yesterday and actually really enjoyed it. I love the Overlock foot a lot.
Oh you know what I found??? If you go on Bernette website they have what they call a "workbook or handbook" for free, smth like that. Basically you download it and it has a bunch of useful information above and beyond the manual, very useful! I found that when I was wondering what where the individual decorative stitches called. I was actually going to go back to your comment and let you know and then I saw you commented - yay! :)
So happy you have a sponsor!!! This machine look great! And your husband is so adorable and shy on camera… so cute! And your cat is lovely as usual! ❤ For the foot pedal, i have the same situation with my Singer if i plug the foot pedal when the machine is on. I guess the computer check for the foot pedal when you open the sewing machine… but if the machine is on and you plug the foot pedal after, there is a delay for the computer to recognize the modification.
Oh, this is good to know, thank you for feedback! I guess the computer needs a bit of "thinking time" :) Thank you for watching, Eva (the cat) says hi :)
That came out beautiful. I actually prefer that 3 part back. It really adds interest. The ruffle collar is very timely. A friend had a shirt with a tiny ruffled collar. I was intrigued and was trying to figure out how I could do it. I love simple patterns that have just a nod toward feminine. They are subtle and beautiful. Just like this blouse of yours.
Oh, Irene, thank you so much and same here - most of the times I love when it is simple, clean and with just a touch of something special. That ruffle collar I was sort of problemsolving it as I go, I will share in Members Extra what I mean by that, I will do a few more tests to find out what technique would be the best and cleanest and then I will share a video :)
I got all excited when I watched the Video because my main sewing machine is a Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 (I call her Quantasia) and I got a Bernette B38 last year (I call her Bernadette) :). I like my Singer, but Bernadette is easier to travel with, sews BEAUTIFULLY, and has a great purr. I can't wait to follow your new makes with your Bernette.
Oh yes, Bernette is definitely smaller than my Singer Confidence, not by a whole lo, but smaller and you are so right - it purrs. My daughter, the very first time I sewed on my Bernette with her said "oh mommy, this sewing machine goes so soft!" I am so glad you have the same machine - she can do a lot of things :)
What gorgeous top. I have used my Phaff 7570 since 1999 bought it used. Has a lot of miles on it since I sewed professionally had a alteration and custom sewing business out of my home while helping to raise my granddaughter. She is now 31. Sewing for my great granddaughter now.
OoOOOh, so great to hear it! My singer is not going anywhere, but I do love and enjoy Bernette. The buttonhole is a game changer, I love the rounded one - that's what I did here and on the white one.
Hello Alisa. 😊. Where should I begin. First of all, I love this sponsorship. Awesome. And I am in the market for a new sewing machine. These are my favourite videos. I find watching your thinking process so interesting and relatable. When I turned that men’s wool jacket into a backpack, I had so many challenges I’m telling you. But it turned out beautiful. And I absolutely love it. But just like you I had to think through a lot of obstacles. I could watch these videos all day. This top that you made I do believe is my favourite garment you have ever made. The way the print sprawls across the back. And is sprinkled on the front. The ruffle around the collar and the crisp, clean lines. Oh, it is perfection. Totally amazing video. Hope you all are well. Looking forward to your next video.
I love the end result! It has inspired me to try and create a top from a small border print remanent piece I was just about the donate to the thrift shop - will see what I can come up with. Have a great weekend!
Oh, so exciting! I am sure you will come up with something beaitiful, perhaps even add another fabric to it, if not enough for all pattern pieces. Happy sewing to you!
I really like the collar, sleeves and flower design on the back yoke of the blouse. Thinking to update my 1960s Singer, so your recommendation is much appreciated. Thanks so much!
Wow, you had your singer since 1960? That's amazing! I love my Singer and I hope it serves me well for a long time, even with the new addition. I looked at B37 in the Bernette line up and it felt like a step down (still a great machine), but B38 feels and works on par with my Singer just 10 year newer with the new "standard" features. And my husband checked the labels for motors and it seems that they are nearly identical, too. :)
Yes. I just ordered the B37. I’m not professional like you, and it has what I want as far as functions. It only has half the yarn colors, and two fewer presser feet. Here’s hoping 🤞 they last. If not, there’s always my grandma’s treadle. 😅
Oh for sure, you are right - you don't need many functions to sew and to sew well, if I think about it, the most used stitch in my repertoire is straight and zig-zag and really that's about it :) I am so happy for You, you will have to let me know how do you like the machine and the service! :)
Alisa, Beautiful blouse. Such a thoughtful and creative use of your fabric. Congratulations on upgrading from your Singer. Bernettes are great and the affordable version of Berninas. When you get a sewing machine (or serger, coverstitch machine) from a sewing machine dealer, you can get a good machine for almost any budget. Not so if you purchase your machine from a craft store or (horrors!) a department store. Better choices from a dealer, which will make sewing fun! Even button holes! Enjoy your wonderful Bernette 38!
Very pretty blouse! Love when you are able to create something practical but wearable also without spending money on fabric. You will get many years of use and make many more garments to show us with your new Bernette Bundle so look forward to your next video.
I live your blouse and the color of it is just beutiful! I'm glad that you love your new machine. My son get me a new Singer for Christmas and so far I'm really happy with all of the things it does. I also have 2 other machines, one a Heavy Duty and a Viking that is very old but still works like new but I hate to make a buttonhole with it.
Oh yes, you know I love my Singer! She has been with me for a decade and she will continue be with me as long as a good service and cleaning/oiling can keep her up. Great machine for everything I have put her through :) Bernette sort of feels just like my Singer just a little more extra features, so it hits that sweet spot - it is not too simple, not too fancy, right there in the middle. The buttonhole on Bernette is def a smooth sailing! Your heavy duty is fully metal one, right?
My Viking was really expensive years ago, and in this town it was only Vikings that was sold. It's ok, it's been around the world a couple of times, going back and forth fron Norway to the US and back again a few times. and it has never given me a problem, it does have where you can do lettering in 3 languages, but I've grown up with Singers and I was happy with my Heavy Duty one but my son surprised me with a brand new Singer Patchwork and I'm really happy with it. But I do use the Heavy Durty one for winter jackets, heavy denim and things like that. Have fun getting to know your new machine. @@ThoughtfulCreativity
Realy nice machine🎉. Fun new stitches to play with. The auto thread cutter is cool...i love that on my janome machine. I love to emboidre the hems of my trousers , tops of pockets...its so fun. Don't forget to make a example piece so you can see how all the stiches look😁. Love all your blouses you showed realy enjoy watching your channel ❤❤❤
How beautiful! And you look beautiful in the blouse too. I have always been nervous about cutting out a pattern on the cross grain and wasting beautiful border print fabrics but now feel inspired to try it and follow your example that if you can do it, I can do it too. Thank you for sharing.
You are clever! I like very much that you are creative with scraps. 😊👏👏👏. The blouse turned out beautiful. Some fabric taking in the back, would personally fit you even better. Even more feminine. But not a necessity. Congratulations on your new sewing machine.
Your videos are always so informative, easy to understand and delightful to watch! I got the Bernette b38 about a month ago and have so enjoyed using it. Thanks for sharing the blouse project 😊
Really nice blouse! Love how you let the pattern go where it wants to go. And after I changed my needle in my machine, it runs so much smoother. I should have known!!!
so nice to see how happy you are about the new machine. it brings back memory's of after 2 years of saving up i received my very 1st sewing machine. i smiled all the way through the video. the top you made is lovely and from such a small piece of fabric. your a magician. Thank you. X
Congratulations on your new machine!! I am SO happy for you!!! Also, the blouse is absolutely stunning! I love the way you used the leftover fabric and the border print! It adds such a beautiful element to the make. Thank you for sharing so many valuable tips with us! ❤
This is beautiful and congratulations on your new sewing machine. I have actually just ordered Bernette b79, because I want to start embroidery as well.
How exciting to have a new sewing machine to get to know! 😊 I have an overlock foot on my nachine too, and it is brilliant! It gets used on pretty much every project, as I don't have a serger (and am in no hurry to buy one!) The border print fabric is really pretty and you did a fabulous job of squeezing a blouse out of it - very clever 👌
I believe you do need to switch of your machine before you plug in the foot pedal especialy if it is computerised at least that is what you have to do with the brother machines. The machine will then recalabrate and you can continue to sew. Hope this helps.

Loved watching you make this blouse on your new Bernette❤
You are clever! I like very much that you are creative with scraps. 😊👏👏👏. The blouse turned out beautiful. Some fabric taking in the back, would personally fit you even better. Even more feminine. But not a necessity. Congratulations on your new sewing machine.
Thank you Alisa for the wonderful video. I love that fabric. Very elegant
Thank you so much, it is, isn't it? Simple, but beautiful!

Beautifully done you’re sew fantastic that’s a good sewing machine
This is beautiful and congratulations on your new sewing machine. I have actually just ordered Bernette b79, because I want to start embroidery as well.
You did??? CONGRATULATIONS! You will need to let me know how do you like it and what is your favorite feature!
Beautiful feminine blouse, just right for summer
Both you and your blouse are so sweet, very clever use of this border print!
I love the shirt you made. You are so talented ❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦
Love the way you always make piecing look so purposeful
You are so clever & creative. It looks lovely on you 😊
Such a beautiful blouse! I love my 1970's Bernina. Her name is Gina. ♥😃
I believe you do need to switch of your machine before you plug in the foot pedal especialy if it is computerised at least that is what you have to do with the brother machines. The machine will then recalabrate and you can continue to sew. Hope this helps.
Oh my GOSH this is absolutely gorgeous ❤❤❤
