I have this module on my want list so thanks for the rundown. It's too bad that Serge module doesn't include the necessary volume cut/boost for proper use in euro-world. Now I'm wondering if my Resonant Equalizer isn't also clipping like that.
I'm a bit frustrated that both R*S and Elby haven't really responded to this level issue; I think their assumption is you're using these in an all-Serge recreation system, as opposed to mixing and matching with other Eurorack modules. They say some of it comes down to the design of the module...but you can put attenuate/amp stages around it like shown here. Most frustrating was Elby's response, which was to release a proposed new Euro spec that lowers the audio level to match what they're already doing, rather than trying to be compatible with the vast majority of modules already out there.
Wow, crazy. It would be pretty silly to assume use is limited to other Serge recreation modules. Sounds like a cop out to me. You'd think they'd at least give customers a heads up on this issue. Hey, you may be interested to check out the CMS recreation of the ARP 2500 filter for eurorack. The resonance on it is pretty insane. Full resonance already at 50% with beyond allowing for resonance to overpower the input signal. Apparently those levels were useful with the additional features on the original 2500, such as keyboard percussion, final Q and limited resonance. Anyway, I made a demo if you are interested. I'll definitely check out the 2500 filter - thank you! As for "all Serge" systems, Elby is indeed selling pre-configured EuroSerge systems, and R*S makes primarily updated 4U Serge modules, some of which they spin off to Eurorack. So you can see their focus. But some companies have the attitude "we want a piece of the Eurorack market; we just don't want to have to pay attention to its standards", and I admit that annoys me - it's a disservice to users.

I've got the Verbos Bark Filter but FUMANA looks even more interesting. I've got a thing for fixed filter banks and resonators.

Thanks for your effort and sharing your ideas! I am looking for an eurorack key tracking VCA solution. When turning a knob from ccw - just hearing the lower notes of sequence - to cw more and more emphasizing towards higher notes. In middle position all notes equal ampl. Any ideas how I can manage this? Thank you for your help!
(Hmm...I wrote a long reply yesterday, but it's not here...let's try again...) Although it's not exactly what you're asking for (which can be done with a lot more patching), in general you'd want a comparator plus an AND logic module to do this. A comparator looks to see if an input signal (such as your sequencer pitch CV output) is higher or lower than a reference voltage (your "knob", in this case). If so, it outputs a high gate; if not, it outputs a low gate. Combine this gate with your sequencer's note gate output using an AND module - this says "if input one AND input two are high, I'll output a high signal; otherwise, I'll output a low signal." This would have the effect of letting your note gates/triggers get through when the notes are higher than your knob reference, and would mute the gates if they were lower. That should put you on the road to doing what you're asking for. There are also two-input comparators, also known as "window" comparators. These provide a way to select a range of notes - between one knob and another, for example - to get through.
