Hey Jake, great Q and you've certainly come to the right place to learn how to play in George's style! There isnt really a single album which is a 'best one' to start on. If I were advising a student then the first song that I point them to is Breaking The Chains, then something like Unchain The Night. I did lessons on GL style playing and songs for 4 years so head over to this playlist and check out some of them. Best to begin with season 1 of Lynch Lycks (from back in 2014) as I was teaching short licks and phrases in GL's style. And then work your way through - ua-cam.com/play/PL_rPJ1xAg8UIA9dFovk28M1XpqKD4H-ZM.html - my friend Nick Layton and I have a lesson pack on GL style licks as well which you can check out as that might help also - bit.ly/2Gck40w - Enjoy and have an awesome day!
I'd agree and was thinking the same. I'd say start with Dokken and the 1st stuff because personally he just more technical as he went whether it's soloing or cording and phrasing, I remember the REH thing and when Back for the Attack came out and George stated he was starting to take lessons because he didn't know what to tell people when they asked what type scale etc and at first I heard that stuff and I remember telling people I liked George's style better when he was self taught, and I thought school teaching he was beginning to etc technical and starting to lose some feeling in his playing, but then once BFTA album grew on me, that was over with fast, but that album and since he is harder to learn for someone trying to learn. I'd start Under lock and key and before, if you get lock and key you definitely then are prepared to move forward! I couldn't have said it better than Jay, I just wanted to say I have to agree and knowing how many times George had me wanting to throw my guitar thru the wall. 😅🤣😅 Take care guys!
Yes, I've been in love with that guitar since the 90's when I saw his video. Plays probably his best solo aside from Mr. Scary with it. Truly legendary.
Jay you are a badass! Just discovered your channel today and you ROCK, man! Big George Lynch fan myself! Thanks for sharing and posting! Will be checking out more of your posts, soon! Peace Be With You, Brother! :)
Whoever has learned George's songs with you, we know that ESP SPIRIT DANCE is your guitar for Mr Scary. It is tremendous how you make it sound, my congratulations to you for existing, you are a genius, I really value what you do,
i have 2 questions how do you keep the whamy bar guitars in tune such a hassle 2 how do you get those screaming harmonics like inthe solos weve chatted before mate stay safe you and yourse i lovem all lynch and you are beasts on the guitar
Hey David, great Qs - tuning stability I use locking machine heads on my guitars with the Wilkinson VS100 bridges - I often add a trem stabiliser as well (Goeldo Stabiliser). That combination works great for me. Harmonics, just a lot of practice and a good big dose of gain on my amp! 😊 Hope that helps man! Have an amazing day!
I love all his iconic guitars. But, I'm going against the grain on this one. Have to say the black and white tribal serpent guitar is my fav. I remember seeing it on a pull out poster they had in Guitar for the Practicing Musician back in the day. Been my fav ever since. Not sure what he didn't like about that one, but he sure didn't use it very much for very long. Runner up...the purple/orange/yellow tiger. I was able to play one of his guitars as well. A group of us met and hung out with Lynch Mob here locally in Minneapolis on the '92 tour for the S/T album. The couple of the guys were interested in a few of the girls we had with us, so they had us all come up to the hotel room. He let me play the Green kamikaze guitar with the razor headstock.
My favorite is the GL 256 i bought back in 2009. I'm about to customized it and It will be rooted and set up like an EVH and will cover it with black Cobra snakeskin. SD Screaming Demon on Bridge and SD SSL3 on the neck. CTS Split volume pot to switch between Bridge and Neck pickups. I will post a video soon ;)
Discarding the Bonez, and I know people who don't like it, they find it horrible. Knowing myself as you know I love the Kamikaze-1 because of its Maple body, its Maple neck and its ebony fingerboard, and of course for its electronics, I have rarely seen George with it, I suppose because of its excessive weight.
Well Jay, I'm a huge Lynch fan and love your tutorials on George tones and links, but I only own 3 myself. I own a real deal black Kami and a Tiger Ltd600 in which you I'm sure know only 100 were made for the Sam Ash promotional run and I have a Ltd Serpent. I'm going to say 1st off, Sorry George and ESP, but I love my Ltd's best because as you Said here Jay, my Kami is very heavy maple neck and body and is dark sounding, I like my Tiger better and it's lighter weight and think it's alter or ash? Anyways it's lighter and brighter sounding and the neck is not as wide and feels, plays and sounds great and is my second favorite sounding, but 1st playing wise and that's out of now 16 guitars, but my 2nd favorite to play, but best sounding is by far is my Ltd Serpent and let me say it plays and sounds like a 3,000 model and I suggest trying the Ltd's for anyone searching to buy a guitar, because ESP's are awesome and I own 6. The Serpent's tremolo is smooth and the thing feels awesome in my medium hands, and the pick ups are awesome and sound fabulous, but the push pull in the neck is so bluesy fat, but a good fat tone that's amazing and maybe the only neck pickup I really like and don't use one a lot, and I also had a sustainiac neck pickup but the Serpent LTD I'd recommend to anyone out there and I would also try both before spending 3,600 etc because my 8 something Ltd Serpent oh man, and my Tiger was also a little over 800, but the real ESP Tiger is too heavy and dark sounding for me and I like the less wide Ltd necks over the more expensive ESP versions. I'm not too short sell ESP, but I personally have loved my Ltd's over the big buck guitars and I say try both before buying. I remember never caring for fender strats and never cared for the necks never felt right in my hand and I never liked most had single coil configurations and 1 day I went to guitar center and said I was going to buy at least on if not 2 Jackson soloist and I tried several and didn't like how the Soloist felt in my hand, I tried a fender Texas Strat with a Floyd rose full floating tremolo and double humbuckers and the neck felt great and is the only fender I've owned, so you can't let a desire to own a guitar make your decision because like I said, I know I'd take my Tiger and Serpent Ltd's over the 3 x more pricey models. Rock on Jay, love your videos and tutorials and I'm interested especially in the Ampero pedals and the Friedman pedal for the Martini dist/over drive? Rock On Bro!
Favorite gl guitar is the skull and bones guitar. Always wanted one. Just so cool. But I'm planning a build that'll be more of his purple tiger striped guitar. Reversed headstock, purple kramer beretta body. Gonna be nice
Cool stuff but you need to add something like a Charvel San Dimas to that collection. That would represent the pre ESP days. Otherwise, I dig your collection nonetheless! 👍
The ESP Kamikaze. Bar none. I was so close in buying a new Kamikaze (non-LTD). An issue came up and i had to use the money. The day will come though...
Hi Jay of yours love the Tiger striped guitar( great story - love the joke still !! ) Of G L's guitars its the Purple Tiger striped burst for me . Awesome !
Why did the tiger guitar sound auto tuned and thin at about the 28min mark in the Evil as you are track? Was that by design. Btw, we’re kindred spirits you and I. I too shared musical influences you feature on your channel as well am a luthier for years. I give you mad props for your attitude, creativity and originality while paying homage to the influences that pushed you to become who you are. Lots of love and appreciation for you sir. ❤️🤘
Only the Kamikaze 1 and 3 and only the heaviest versions of the guitars from 86. I hold he's own original non reverse non finished headstock esp at Jon Mankutas. He let me play on it.
How can anyone pick one? It’s all about seasoning. Salt and pepper go good with a lot of dishes but some times you want to add some time onion, basil and rosemary. Each amazing guitar has a time and a place to be the favorite. Thanks!
Oh yea and I have to go with your carved skull and bones axe. So sweet! Not sure if it was tuned down or something but it just sounded so heavy and kick ass….
My all-time favorite George Lynch guitar is the skull and bones then in order after that is the yellow tiger stripe then the one he plays in the music video for just got lucky then the one from the into the fire music video then lastly the wicked sensation guitar
My favourite has to be the kamikaze, I have the skull and serpents myself, but the tiger I love and the only thing that stops it being totally bad ass is the headstock being standard fender strat instead of pointy or spoon
Green Kami is my fav... Reh orange next... 3rd place tie.. Lynch Mob cover & Serpent.... your bones replicas are awesome.. there's one most folks prab forgot about.. white with drawn skulls on it... Bet you know it Jay!
Very very cool! I know the skull guitar you're talking about - BC Rich body and ESP Neck. I've played that guitar some years ago 😊 Have an awesome day man!
The SKULL AND BONES guitar “MOM”…*easily* one of the most recognized guitars of the 80s period! Now of course you think I may be biased saying that, as the owner of the original, but keep in mind, I own a bunch of George’s original guitars as well as a few replicas, and yet nothing gets me as excited as the original Skull and Bones…it’s a truly legendary guitar. Not to mention, that (other than Eddie Van Halen’s Frankenstein guitar), I can’t think of more different companies and players making replicas of any other specific 80s guitar than this one. *(I’m still waiting for the pink replica of it promised to me by our mutual friend Craig Rundles, just to name one). Feel free to come over again to play her and the other of George’s guitars I’ve come in to since you were last over by me…!
Hey bro! Hoes it going? Hope all is good! Defineitly! Next time I'm in LA (hopefully soooooon) we will do a full video - that will be pretty cool! 😃 Thanks so much for the opp to play the guitars - they were totally cool man! Have an amaing day!
Hey there! Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment. I appreciate your interest, but I think there might be a bit of confusion here. While some of the guitars shown are indeed partscasters (which, as you might know, George Lynch himself has built and used throughout his career, including his famous Tiger guitar), not all of them are. For instance, the ESP Skull and Snakes and the Serpent are genuine ESP guitars. I always aim to be transparent about the guitars I'm showcasing, whether they're originals, replicas, or custom builds. Each guitar, regardless of its origin, contributes something unique to the Lynch tone we all love. Thanks again for watching. If you have any questions about specific guitars in the video, feel free to ask!
Just realized the was a flange or other effect. The tele “g” string sounds 2cents flat on the clean riff that ties that tune together. Still I dig it. Just sharing my thoughts out load as I have them. Still a fan, mean no disrespect …. Btw, the heavy routing is called weight relief 😉
Hi David, I have lessons on that song already. Head over to my lessons playlist and you’ll find all the George Lynch songs I have done lessons on (it’s quite extensive) - ua-cam.com/play/PL_rPJ1xAg8UIA9dFovk28M1XpqKD4H-ZM.html - enjoy and have a great day.
Man, too many. REH, Skull and Bones, Serpent, BUT I have to go with your version of the yellow tiger. I mean...my UA-cam channel header image is a pic of me playing it :) Ebony fretboard and a neck pickup - Better than the original (Sorry, George).
For me the coolest one was on the April 1988 Guitar For The Practicing Musician, that is the only place I've seen this one... back then I had two Kramer Night Swan's that were inspired by this magazine cover... one ended up somewhere in Sweeden and the second was unfortunately dismantled by a guitar player in Mpls.
I played an original J Frog “skull & bones” at Ed Roman’s studio in CT, back in 98 (I think 🤔) Very cool experience! Both hanging out with Ed and the being able to jam on such an iconic work of art!🤘
@@jayguitar Hi Jay! Some events transpired and i'm bored so I found myself writing you a letter haha. The gl56 I was watching sold but I saw a ltd one available. Should I wait for a lynch custom shop or are the ltd models substantial? Planning to learn some Dokken songs and haven't really decided what I want to get. there's a purple tiger CS gl up on reverb that kind of screams 80's but has some dings. I like the gl56 style because I could fingerstyle pick with it to practice some of Mark Knopfler's songs. Been doing your lynch licks and lessons. I've learned up to the chorus for your Street Fighting Man lesson. I really enjoy the pace of the lessons and you explain everything in detail. I took your advice as well and picked up a BE-OD. Still looking out for a reasonable blu amp1. You've got good taste and I respect your opinion! Hope you're doing well! Happy Holidays to you! 🤘
The OG tiger has always been my favorite. I'll probably make one myself one day, but it'd had to be a leopard/cheetah/hyena finish instead, as I'm from Namibia.
my favourite is his black les paul custom. he is seen pretty often with that guitar. i want to know more about it. especially the upgrades on this one and his current amps. His sound is so interesting. Cheers
If looking to play in Lynch styler where would you begin? Which album, solo and so on. Thanks love the channel

Skull and crossbones. Without a doubt the coolest, meanest looking guitar ever produced. Absolutely love it!!
My favorite is the orange ESP from the REH instructional video. I'm working on building one for myself. Jay, you rock man! Thank you for these videos!
Yes, I've been in love with that guitar since the 90's when I saw his video. Plays probably his best solo aside from Mr. Scary with it. Truly legendary.
I love the Sunburst Tiger
I own The Sunburst Tiger, EVH Guitars, Gibson Goldtop Les Paul, Charvel and an EVH Combo amp EL 34 Tube Amp
I have a sunburst tiger the LTD version that's in mint condition. Beautiful guitar stands out alone from the others
Mine is the skull guitar from dream warriors. !
What a great bunch of playing.
Thanks Jay. And what an epic collection.
Jay you are a badass! Just discovered your channel today and you ROCK, man! Big George Lynch fan myself! Thanks for sharing and posting! Will be checking out more of your posts, soon! Peace Be With You, Brother! :)
thanks Rizwan, very kind of you 🙏🏽 glad you enjoyed it! have an awesome day!
Which George Lynch guitar is your favourite out of the George Lynch Guitar Collection?
I like the kamikazi IV, on the one live night dvd it looked like he stripped it down to the wood. Would love to see that in a production model.
I love the Skull and Bones. Ultimately I want a 7 string version of that guitar.
ESP Spirit Dance for me! But you already knew I was going to say that lol.
yellow black tiger stripe as it is his classic and still uses it currently - here and there.... ;)
They're all badass. But the Spirit Dance is the one I'm always jealous of.
Whoever has learned George's songs with you, we know that ESP SPIRIT DANCE is your guitar for Mr Scary.
It is tremendous how you make it sound, my congratulations to you for existing, you are a genius, I really value what you do,
Out of the GL guitars you have Skull & Bones but my all time favorite GL guitar has to be ESP Kamikaze 1
⚡️🎸

All are magnificent, but I’d have to say the old Skulls & Snakes for me (You know why) followed by the Serpent as a close second.
I love all his iconic guitars. But, I'm going against the grain on this one. Have to say the black and white tribal serpent guitar is my fav. Very cool! And nice choice! Serpent is one of my faves 😊 Have an amazing day!
Skull & snakes without even seeing the video ;-)
Good call man! 😊 Gotta love that guitar. Have an amazing day.

Jay is awesome !! I love you videos bro
Thanks man! I appreciate it! Have an awesome day 🤘
My favorite Lynch guitar is the aged cracked nitrocellulose Bengal tiger guitar. That thing looks so cool.
I love the one with the graphic art from Lynch Mob's Wicked Sensation album. Nothing says "way cool" like skulls, snakes and crossed samurai swords!
Jay, your spirit dance guitar is YOU! It’s my favorite, it’s your signature guitar as Eddie’s Frankie, George’s Tiger or SRV’s #1. 😎👍❤️

The Kamikaze with banana reversed headstock or the Tiger Sunburst with also reversed headstock neck.
I actually had the opportunity to pick up a Serpent LTD for about $600 a couple of years back… still kicking myself for not getting it 🤦🏻♂️
Favorite gl guitar is the skull and bones guitar. Always wanted one. Just so cool.
But I'm planning a build that'll be more of his purple tiger striped guitar. Reversed headstock, purple kramer beretta body. Gonna be nice

The ESP Serpent is simply gorgeous.
The ESP Kamikaze. Bar none. I was so close in buying a new Kamikaze (non-LTD). An issue came up and i had to use the money. The day will come though...
The original tiger...your version with the neck single coil is my fave. BTW your track Scary Vibes is very cool!!!
My Favorite is the Kamikaze! Just the combination of the graphics and the big Hockey Stick headstock make that guitar look so cool and iconic!
Hi Jay of yours love the Tiger striped guitar( great story - love the joke still !! ) Of G L's guitars its the Purple Tiger striped burst for me . Awesome !

Only the Kamikaze 1 and 3 and only the heaviest versions of the guitars from 86.
I hold he's own original non reverse non finished headstock esp at Jon Mankutas. He let me play on it.
The Kamikaze 4. There's something about that guitar that makes me weak. Pure Maple and bright.
Skull.and Snakes and you have the right headstock. Like you I started playing around the same time, and.diverted my attention from Jems for a while
My favorite George Lynch guitar is probably the 87 iteration of the tiger. Has the matching headstock but had a standard style trem
Skull and Bones Winn forever!!😎😉🤘🔥
My favorite is ? all of them but especially there one he plays in his instructional video ..ebony neck and orangish tiger stripe ...ESP I believe
To me best G.L guitar is the rare Blue Kamikazi... Super dope...
My favorite is the KAMIKAZE 1 AND 3 And the serpent
How can anyone pick one? It’s all about seasoning. Salt and pepper go good with a lot of dishes but some times you want to add some time onion, basil and rosemary. Each amazing guitar has a time and a place to be the favorite. Thanks!
Oh yea and I have to go with your carved skull and bones axe. So sweet! Not sure if it was tuned down or something but it just sounded so heavy and kick ass….
I have three models all LTD versions of the Kamikaze the m1 tiger and the sunburst tiger
I thought Goerge called the Skull and Snakes guitar Hajii
There's been several generations/colors of the kamikaze but my favorite has to be the black and red camo one. I just love that color combo
Just awesome brother🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
My favourite GL guitar was the Desert kamikaze!
I have one of the original ESP skull and snakes
everytime i watch this video i am in amazed by the bones guitar

No, I don’t have that one, but I do have two of his other tigers: “Booger” (his early green tiger), and the original Purple Tiger
@@jonmankuta8741 that’s great! Would love to see some fresh pictures of those!

Thanks Mike! Very much appreciate it dude 😊 🤘 🙏 Glad you're enjoying the videos! Have an amazing day man!
Original kamikaze
Man, too many. REH, Skull and Bones, Serpent, BUT I have to go with your version of the yellow tiger. I mean...my UA-cam channel header image is a pic of me playing it :) Ebony fretboard and a neck pickup - Better than the original (Sorry, George).
Kamikaze 1
For me the coolest one was on the April 1988 Guitar For The Practicing Musician, that is the only place I've seen this one... back then I had two Kramer Night Swan's that were inspired by this magazine cover... one ended up somewhere in Sweeden and the second was unfortunately dismantled by a guitar player in Mpls.
I played an original J Frog “skull & bones” at Ed Roman’s studio in CT, back in 98
(I think 🤔)
Very cool experience! Both hanging out with Ed and the being able to jam on such an iconic work of art!🤘
Great video Jay, I love all those guitars, I wouldn't be able to single out just one so to be safe youd better keep them all 👍🤘
Awesome !
Hey man you're awesome 🤘
thinkin' about picking up a gl56
Thats very kind of you dude 😊 🙏 Very cool about the 56 - thats a really great guitar. Have an awesome day!

Hi Jay!
🤘
GL-56 ! COOL!!!
This Bengal Is soooo COOOL 🤘🐸🤘 MY FAVORITE ♥️
The OG tiger has always been my favorite. I'll probably make one myself one day, but it'd had to be a leopard/cheetah/hyena finish instead, as I'm from Namibia.
hi jay - as usual another great video. I like them all but that bones guitar you can't beat. I go with that one
Skull and snakes, obviously ! And btw, watching you play is such a treat. Waow, just waow.
my favourite is his black les paul custom. he is seen pretty often with that guitar. i want to know more about it. especially the upgrades on this one and his current amps. His sound is so interesting. Cheers
Think the ESP Serpent would be a good choice ;-)
Skull and bones, no contest. It's such an iconic guitar. It's like Eddie's shark guitar.
I like the sound of the Kamikaze. The others guitars in your collection are very impressive.
