Caroline L. Agreed, Even if he does have a good body that he feels proud of, he is still lifting his shirt up to hundreds of people revealing his body, which is uncomfortable
RatchildUK Yeah it's a double standard. Don't ask humans to be logical and reasonable too much of the time. It's just that in our society, for whatever reason, it isn't that big a deal for a man to be topless when compared to a woman being topless. That's our programming/conditioning.
true but more so women lets be honest if an audience member wanted to take a look at Emily Bett Rickard's legs and asked her to pull up her skirt or some shit then they would be under fire

He wasn't all that comfortable with doing it. Doing it in the show is one thing but he ain't an object. If he was a chick people would be going crazy.
But man take their shirt off on the beach all the time. I agree in this moment but woman don't normally go top naked anywhere. So i dont think they would asked him if he was a girl
@@fandomcomic women go on the beach shirtless as well, are u dumb or were u raised in a monastery. Its definitely akward for Stephen and completely inappropriate.
@javier pessina I don’t think anyone has an issue if a woman chooses to be naked but what they mean is that these people pressured him into this, this wasn’t his choice he just did it because there where a couple hundred people there staring at him telling him to
I disagree with the concept of reverse sexism, but what is certain is that this is really really wrong. It was creepy, and as a woman I know what it feels like to be treated like a piece of meat. I have a lot of empathy for Stephen here. If he has his shirt off in the TV series, does shirtless modelling shoots or chooses to take his shirt off at a convention, that's fine. Asking for it like this, acting like she's expecting to get it and putting him on the spot - that's not fine.
It's clear Stephen knows it's just part of the job, but he's not really happy about it... He has commented on the "piece of meat" scenario before...And also knows he is lucky to get such a good job in doing what he loves. In my opinion, I think they don't really have the right to ask him this. I know it is for fun and all, but it feels the same as saying to a girl to take her top in order to admire her breasts... It's just not classy, or fair to set somebody up for this... But thankfully he makes it through alright..
jadamson1031 Yeah Okay. But I was trying to create an example. Like one of the sexy showy-off things woman have are breasts, Man have somewhat the same thing with abs and other top-body muscles. I just think it is too much and too private to ask someone to show parts of his body (that we already get to see in the series) in front of a big audience like that...
Jay Preis I understand your point of view. But it is very different to do expose yourself in your free time, while you're relaxing on the beach. So that doesn't count at all! It is also a major difference between exposing yourself in front of a camera, a crew and some other actors (people you all know and worked with a long time), while you're preforming in a scene. Or doing it at an interview in front thousands of people... He directly sees these people, and that is not the case with a TV/Internet audience. Stephen said in previous "blog" interviews that the "taking his shirt of and flexing his muscles" isn't something he enjoys doing in a scene, but it's part of the job... So my opinion is that he is showing enough body parts on the series, that I find it unsuitable and trashy to ask something like that...
I don't think so, if he has done all this work to get into that sort of physical condition for the show, I'd think he'd be fine showing off all that work. I know if I had ripped abs I'd show them off all the time.
I appreciate a good set of abs. They are hard work to maintain and take a lot of dedication to have a cut and a six pack...but sorry, I still think its a little degrading to do this. I mean if this were a woman, and there were thousands of men screaming take your shirt off, people would be all up in arms, so I kind of wished he'd just stuck to watch on Wednesdays. But then again, he has free will and he did it anyway, so there you go everybody.

What are you talking about!?! Women get objectified all the time in television and cinema. How often is a girl called a slut or bitch? And women actresses are now showing cheek through skimpy lingerie. Women get objectified alot more then men in mass media.
***** Now, now. Stephen is a dude who posts shirtless pics of himself on Instagram quite regularly...He was not uncomfortable flashing his abs for 3 seconds here...
Abs are some of the most useless muscles on the body. A six pack only mean there is a complete lack of fat around the abdominals, which is not necessarily a good thing.
It would've been different if he was just with friends, but demanding and whining for him to take his shirt off at a convention? That's extremely degrading. He looked so uncomfortable and he's not about showing off what he has. Yea, he's attractive and his abs are nice, but he shouldn't have been basically forced to show them.
I mean. I appreciated seeing a perfect set of abs as I'm sure the audience did in real life. But it really is rather inappropriate to ask a professional man to stand up and show off a piece of his body like that's all he's good for, like he had to prove himself or something. I understand that he does it on tv for us nearly every week. But there's a HUGE difference between doing it for a camera at the request of the writers, and doing it in front of a live audience. An audience that is demanding it from him. Again. I can happily appreciate seeing his abs in this video but the concept that drove him to have to stand up and do this is rather disgusting to me.
actually it wasn't about seeing Stephen Amell's abs as much as Arrow's abs. Like Jared Padalecki(Sam)'s hair is always a big deal. As Chris Hemsworth's (Thor) biceps. The Arrow has a notorious body, and Stephen Amell to most of the crowd is not a person, but an artist, and it's a part of his art that he was asked to display.

Instagram is a thing, we have far too much access to people and thier bodies without ever seeing them than ever before. That’s part of the problem. Stephen is normal this should make him feel uncomfortable.
I know that women have their own parts but it's still the same concept of I dunno how to put it, abuse? maybe? or like Stephen was forced, yeah something like that. Clearly he wasn't comfortable being half naked in front of thousands, yet people still tell him to do so. But if someone would ask one of the females there to raise their shirt, the whole room would be mad at that person giving the request. So honestly I think this sexism and force thing is kinda one sided. But good job for Amell for being a brave guy even if he didn't want to. That shows how dedicated he is to his job and his fans.
These fans - and John Barrowman - were being idiots. It's a con, not a strip club. Yes, Stephen takes his shirt off on Arrow all the time but it's different to do it "for an audience". And I'm a gay guy myself so of course I'm far from averse to seeing Stephen's bod, but seriously - have some manners and respect. He's a person, not a piece of meat for you to ogle.

All the girls must be fan girling over this. Man, I really need more workout at gym. Who’s with me? Leave a comment?
Imagine if they asked a woman to do that, the scenes😂
I didn't watch that show for his acting skills.
It's not bravery, it's weighing it up and working out this is the quickest, easiest way if getting out of this situation
A guy asking steven to show his abs is so weird
These fans - and John Barrowman - were being idiots. It's a con, not a strip club. Yes, Stephen takes his shirt off on Arrow all the time but it's different to do it "for an audience". And I'm a gay guy myself so of course I'm far from averse to seeing Stephen's bod, but seriously - have some manners and respect. He's a person, not a piece of meat for you to ogle.
Slingblade87 It’s one man who asked. Not « these fans » and John Barrowman... And Stephen is allowed to say no. He’s a grown up man...
@@LaDzodzette hmm, but they *weren't* allowing him to say no...cos he did...and they kept on...so he did again...and they kept on...so he did again... Ended up the easiest way to get out of it was to do it
To be fair you fail to realize what John was able to get away with
Now Melissa Benoist!
Look how they try to pimp my boy
