I'm 37 years old and Richard has been one of my heroes since I was 4 years old. He ranks right behind my Daddy as my hero. Also, the lady interviewing him did a wonderful job!!! #43
Bill Gibbons That man is true NASCAR in 1967 he won 10 in a row &27 wins for the yr?He is raceing royalty he is the man. I truely admire & respect that fine man I could go on all day (I thank you Richard Petty) hemi engines & Petty blue car
I've been blessed to meet Richard Petty many times, the first being in 1982 when I was 12 years old. They call him "The King" for his accomplishments on the race track but the reason he's the King to this fan is because of how he always treats everybody he meets like they're the most important person and how he treats everybody like you're his friend.
Richard Petty has been my hero for 40 years. I never thought I would get to meet him, but I got a chance to visit his shop last may, and low and behold who do I run into, my hero. A day and a feeling I'll never forget.
Lee I'm 48 and I first met the King when i was 12 years old. I was so excited to meet my hero then and all these years later I STILL get just as excited every time I get the chance to see him.
Adam Petty would have been a great champion, great personality,he was a "natural" talent, what a great loss to the petty family as well as the rest of us,RIP Adam
I live in the Cleveland, Ohio suburbs and have been a Richard Petty fan since I was a little kid in the 1970's. Since then he has always been my hero. I saw him win races at Michigan when I was a young teen and I've been lucky enough to meet him in person a few times and tell him thank you for all he has done and what he means to me. He in turn said thank you to me for making his racing life possible. A truly humble man. Since I was 5 or 6 years old the Petty's were all that I followed. I feel like they are my family. I've cheered with their successes and have cried with their tragedies. It takes special people like The Petty's to make you feel that you are a part of them. Thanks for putting this show out here for the world to enjoy. Like Richard said in the interview.....I too wish he was still a race car driver. I miss seeing my hero on the track. Today's NASCAR fan has no idea just what Richard Petty has meant to the sport and especially in creating an atmosphere where the drivers feel obligated to reach out to their fans....... STP & 43 FOREVER !!!!
I've had the pleasure of meeting him. He was in the CVS in randleman and he was such a gentleman and very patience with us that asked for a photo. He really is a great guy and has done a lot for the community he lives in. We have a nascar days festival in the fall that is extra special for us because he lives there. The cars are there for the kids to climb in and see what it's like. He really is just a great guy!
I been there in 1992 and Lee rode up on the tractor when I was 12, and in 1992. I met Richard 12 times in a year being my idol. Richard would actually call me be name and say I'll be there in a minute young man. Richard will always be the king, the way he loved his fans to call them out by name as a kid. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
They sure don't come any more polite and friendly as The King. I make a yearly pilgrimage to the Outer Banks of North Carolina from Pennsylvania and every time I cross the line from Virginia and see the "Welcome to NC" sign, I tell myself that I am in the home state of Richard Petty and the birthplace of speed.
82SteelCity My cousin and her husband got married in the Pettys’ backyard. They said the Petty family are very nice people. I sadly didn’t make the wedding.
RICHARD INSPIRED WHEN I WAS 13, STILL INSPIRES ME TILL THIS DAY, HOME TOWN SIMPLE MAN, FULL OF OF LOVE IN HIS HEART RICHARD PETTY IS STILL A GOD LOVING MAN
Richard Petty becomes more incredible the more you are exposed to the man, even if you are in no way connected to the racing world. He's just a good, solid and very real man, nothing fake, no image creation, and this real-ness sucks you in and wanting more. You trust him, as well as Kyle and Linda when she would speak in films, and his daughters. Fine people, you would like to live next to. Thanks for the video the host was perfect, not fawning, but well prepared and interested in the man as well as the sport.
I don't even like NASCAR or any other racing all that much but I sure do have respect for The King. Such an humble Fella. Richard Petty is the real deal.
FAMILY IS THE TRUE KEY, TO HIS TRUE HEART THE HEART TELLS ALL, THANK YOU FOR JUST BEING YOU FOR SHARING TO ALL , YOU MADE MY LIFE THANK YOU RICHARD PETTY
I loved it when Richard talked about the “Cars” movie being shown at the Charlotte Speedway. He said when his lines came up on screen the grandkids didn’t pay attention but when his wife’s lines came on the grandkids whooped and hollered. No pretense here.
I went to school with Lisa in the 2nd grade and Lynda petty was hosting a Easter egg hunt on the petty property and inviting the whole 2nd class or elementary class (don't remember totally). However, these people are of total class and morality. You couldn't ask for better people in society and for their community. GO PETTY!!! Love the King and his family and what they have done for the sport and for humanity!!
RICHARD PETTY WAS ALWAYS A KING ,TO ME, AND MY BROTHER, RICHARD PETTY, MADE US TO LOOK UP TO SOME ONE, THAT CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE , TO ME AND MY BROTHER, AND YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME AND MY BROTHER, THROUGH YOUR POSITIVE WAYS TOO THE BOTH OF US IN 1968, AT M.I.S. IN MICHIGAN, THANK YOU RICHARD PETTY, FOR BEING YOU, THANK YOU FOR SHOWING ME, MY, BROTHER THE WAYS OF A GREAT LIFE,
YOU THOUGHT US TO BE STRONG, SIMPLE, AND HUMBLE, AND TRUE, NO MATTER, WHERE, YOU GO IN LIFE, RICHARD PETTY, IS VERY HUMBLE MAN THAT I HAVE MET BACK. IN 1968 AT. M.I.S., THE KING MADE ME AND MY BROTHER, DIFFERENT, THINKING, FROM THAT, DAY, ON.
RICHARD HAS THE BIGGEST HEART IN THE WHOLE WORLD, JUST BE YOU LOVE YOU AND YOUR CHALLENGE IS LIFE WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT WAS LOVING WHAT YOU DO SO VERY WELL IS JUST BEING YOURSELF, ARE, EXCELLENT WHEN I WAS A KID, STILL THIS DAY , YOUR STILL MY FAVE RIOT MAN ON THIS PLAINT
I understand how Petty fans love to see his Plymouths that he drove for many years but, being a Ford fan I wish they would have shown the Torino Talladega he drove in 1969. Having said that, no matter what he drove Richard Petty is the true patriarch of the racing world infinitum. God bless him and his family.
Lives 5 minutes around the corner from me, the KING pumps his own gas at the local BP gas station and you might just see him in the Dollar General too lol polite guy and will have a conversation with you!
Naa no point. Those cars they race now are just shells of a "stock" car built by NASCAR rules with mostly aftermarket parts. . The car companies spend their money to sponser the racing and put their brand decals on the car they are supporting. There really is no more Chevy, Ford, etc. cars out there racing they are are all NASCAR next-gen cars now.
Just like Disney, we now have Bubba, and the other racists. I threw all my hero artifacts into the fire. He was my hero and I grew up with Petty. Now!! There aren't worse words. Go woke, go broke.
I use to be a HUGE Richard Petty / Mopar fan had a shit ton of pictures and memorabilia all over the house. Not that anybody gives a crap but I lost a lot of respect for him once he retired and was just a car owner he became quite a hypocrite. The baby boomers all know those Good 'ole' Boys were all quite racist back in the day and Richard's opinions of a woman NASCAR driver back when Danica Patrick came on the scene didn't sit well with me either. He hired Bubba Wallace to drive for him for some reason which helped his past racial views fade away but I absolutely guarantee that he was super biting his tongue when all that racial crap was flying around the pits during the hangman noose incident and Bubba Wallace was putting on his racist show for the world to get attention. . It doesn't matter anymore to me I don't follow NASCRAP anymore and don't even know who drives for Richard anymore nor what the no. 43 even looks like or what brand decals are on it...don't care. I just remember the best days of Richard and NASCAR and Mopar 50 years ago and that's what matters to me.

The years were 1971 or so!!
My favorite part of the interview was when he spoke of himself in third person. "Daytona was a big boost in Richard Petty's career." haha
THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU ALL THE TIME NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO.
I got to shake Richard Petty's hand back in the late 70', I found him to be a real kind man.

Hearing about how Linda got into the movie and how she picked the car is about the cutest damn thing I have ever heard.
My favorite Stock Car race car driver; A class act! Never saw him drive in person; watched him win on Wide World of Sports on ABC
Even us northerners love Richard Petty .He is a true humanitarian and I would put him as well as Paul Newman in the same catagory.
Happy 80th Birthday Richard Petty

the last of the best.
My 2 racing heros, the "King" Richard Petty and "Big Daddy" Don Garlits!
RP is a southern gentleman and a man’s man.
Concerning the Picture at 4:30 of the 747 Air Force One. Reagan only ever flew in a 707. The first 747 didn't come along until Bush 1 in 1990...
That is a 707 and it’s definitely Reagan
Just had pinto beans with onions for dinner last night 😂😂😂
Sheryl McNeill I had kraft macaroni and cheese with cut up hotdogs
THE KING
I grew up in level cross also. New Salem area. Now live in level cross close to the fire station

…hah I love America where a kid can grow up in a “holler” and still become king………….🧐
Two middle fingers up for Richard and bubba Wallace
This is why Petty is better than Busch.
Fishxyy * Fish with respect Busch wouldn’t make a hair on the King’s head.
petty might have been the king that is until dale Earnhardt came along.
Dale will never or would never like anyone be the king but Richard. Dale only won 76 races. Still very far off of Richard Petty
Petty never had to wreck anyone to win like Earnhardt had to do.
