so fcking happy you put diablo 2 on here. SOO MANY people either dont know about or dont understand it. LFG!!! An Old School RuneScape clip!! lol Yes, although the Uncut Onyx from a gem bag is a 1/100,000,000 chance, there are bosses that drop it at like a 1/3000 rate luckily!
Over 15yrs ago I played FFXI and it's the only MMO I raid grinded hardcore, peak endgame (6hr+ Kirin fights n whatnot), and a couple people in my dynamis linkshell had their classes relic weapon gained the way your ment to. Literal years of coin and other material collecting. One of them being Excalibur. I remember when our tank got his sword and used the weapon skill attached to the sword for the first time we as a collective whole were somewhat disapointed with it lol. Low damage and not very flashy. If you wanted your classes final weapon skill back when the lvlcap was 75 you had to get your relic weapon which back then they took years running dymanis 3 times a week to gain the materials, unless people helped you by giving you the materials they gained. I still consider my time on FFXI to be the most memorable MMO experience, esspecially when it was at its peak in the mid-late 2000s. Even though you had a 1/20000 chance from fishing to get it at that time, getting it the correct way was no small feat. My dynamis had 3 maybe 4 people who had their relic weapon and there were less than 10 on the hole server including the JP players.
Rarest thing I ever found in a video game was Deathcharger's Reins in WoW. 0.9% chance of it dropping. I farmed Stratholme as a Hunter, solo, for about a week and a half.
I never looked up drop rates for Czerka-crate-o'matic in SWTOR, but I knew it was really rare. I am doubting that 1 in billion chance though, as there were plenty of them back in the day sold in games own market. I found one myself in 2017, I still remember the exact mob it dropped from. Got the achievement too.
I think the difference is the crate-o'matic "billion" encompasses several different things. You could get it from mobs, treasure hunting and a few others. So the original 1 in a billion was based on 2 people finding it in 2 billion loot checks, which is still rare, but is more common than it sounds because a single perso could easily get 500+ loot checks in an hour of gaming. So if a server had an average of 500 active people all day long (not the same ones, but consistently 500 players), you'd expect one to drop every 23 weeks on that server.
Regarding Excalibur from FFXI...............depending on which of the Arhturian legends you read the sword was returned to the Lady of the Lake, so getting it by fishing isn't that far fetched.
This is why I like mods. Games are supposed to be enjoyable and not a waste of ridiculous volumes of lifetime by way too many individuals, over some pixels.
I agree. It's like trophies in video games. They're designed to make you play a game longer than necessary because devs feed off of people's narcissism. Look how many platinums I have. It's always a look at me type of thing.
@@emilybaxterthecartoonywitc1805 I agree... I used to be some sort of a trophy hunter and there really are lots of people that don't care about enjoying the game at all, they just want the platinum; they don't even go for the 100% 🤦 I still care about completion, but it's more like a chore than a challenge for most games nowadays
I'll watch the list first. But I agree on both sides. I actually like this hard rare unlock if they are not mandatory, because then the dopamine rush that hits you is incredible. On the other side, if something is mandatory/required and has that low of a drop rate, then they can f off.
Many of these are online games so you can’t do that. The whole point is for them to be rare and the mindset of “it’s in the game so therefore I must be guaranteed to get it with little effort” is incorrect
If I remember correctly, something like 213 riddler’s trophies to be found. Less than 50 of them can be found throughout the main campaign, and it’s awful to search for the trophies with unhelpful tips and the dark setting.
Yeah I actually found the trophies and the secret ending wasn’t worth it smdh not gonna lie I used a guide got tired of looking for them but in every other Arkham game I found them all even origins so felt obligated to smdh
Excaliber being level 70 while cap is 50 is another joke, saying you're not worthy, if you were to try pulling from the stone it wouldnt budge. Brilliant!
There was never a documented time of it happening, and I read that a developer stated that the files said noone ever pulled it out of the fishing spot (northern lake in Jugner Forest I think?), but I'd like to imagine the first few months or so when FFXI was new a Japanese player randomly fishing and got it.
“You got a better chance of being eaten by a shark, being killed by falling furniture, and winning the lottery at the same time”. Idk why I thought this was so funny 😂
@@Shreepsy I wonder if if it was part of the stuff my neighbor gave me. He'd been playing it since it released and convinced me to buy the battlechest.
Last one: that's a billion, not 100 million. One thing that struck me (pun intended) is nothing to do with the game items but the fact you're more likely to get struck by lightning than die in a tornado. Considering the number of fatal tornado outbreaks.
For me, It was trying to get the BIS Druid Bear tank Trinket, the "Badge of Tenacity" in Blades Edge. I spent 5-6 Hours a day for 3 months trying to get that f*****r to drop. Even Alliance players would come and visit me, emoting to ask how it was going! I eventually had to quit playing for my sanity and the risk to my actual marriage, I was that obsessed. But if you needed the best Bear you could get (I think it was almost essential for Gruuls Lair), then you needed that item. WIth full raid buffs, food and procs, I could temporarily get my armor above 80 thousand, for all that there was no need to do so, but it was tenacious and so was I. Sods law, I came back to WoW 8 years later, and tried a Druid again, the sodding thing dropped in the first half an hour. I cried.
THe 40 Onyx ... Can't remember where I got this, but I think that there's a better change of a random high-energy particle emission corrupting your computers memory and transmuting into that bag, then it dropping... As a dev myself, I get the fun of such things, but as a (albeit self-inflicted) victim or such obsession, I worry that it hurts people far more than any joy it brings...
IDK what you are talking about man, I did a quick calculation for all of these and it came out to a 50/50 chance every time. Either you get the drop or you dont on all of them. You're welcome.
I mean dragon master in monster hunter wasn't really that hard to aquire, you can get more than 1 in the rewards every so often and can increase the drop rate by severing tails. So it's not that hard of a weapon to get and not have to hunt rathian and rathalos that many times either
literally screamed within the first minute of watching this because I actually did get that stupid ass invisible bow just for fun once lmaooo it only took me around an hour to get too
My luck is so bad, when i see the odds of getting something i multiply it by 250% that usually tells me how long it will take to get it. it's pretty accurate. for me at least
Getting an Angeling card in Ragnarok Online is probably the rarest thing I ever got in a game (0.01% drop rate from a boss that only spawns in a handful of places and only once every 60-90 minutes)
I am all for having super rare things but like.. if you have to put in 40 hours a week 365 days a year to get like a decent chance of getting something why even have it in the game lmao
Not sure if the chances have changed in resurrected, but I did end up finding a Zod rune. The reason people want it is not because it makes things indestructible, but because it is used in some OP runewords.
Something like 35 people die a year from it just in the US. So, more common than people think, and more than the number of people worldwide that die from shark attacks, but yeah, 1 in 15k still seems way low.
What is the actual point of making something basically impossible to find? In the real world, it's easy to imagine plenty of reasons for a person to hide something in a place where it could never be found. In a video game world, I don't find that so easy to imagine. Yes, of course the programmers might just be trolling. But if they are, why would they bother giving the item any actual value/stats/strength etc? Example: If Thor's Hammer existed in a game, but No player could ever pick it up because not even ONE of them was considered "worthy" by the game's insane standards, what would be the point of allowing the hammer to exist at all?
8:30 the OP name is deleted. So, is "big hand larry" a joke I'm not understanding or what's going on Falcon? Btw I love how you guys don't just steal people's quotes, tips, quips, or jokes and actually give them recognition from reddit.
I like for Perfect Hide of Terra, the Reddit post you show literally argues that the numbers you gave make no sense. Highlighting the part you like doesn’t wipe out the rest. 😂
Uncut Onyx can be achieved from a few different bosses and methods as well, so the item itself is still very obtainable but getting it via gem bags is what is so rare.

Rarest thing I ever found in a video game was Deathcharger's Reins in WoW. 0.9% chance of it dropping. I farmed Stratholme as a Hunter, solo, for about a week and a half.
You forgot the Shrouded Ghost in Sea of Thieves T.T
Gotta say I quite enjoyed the random statistics between entries here.
10 to the factor of 312 is more than all of the atoms in all of the observable universe at least 3 times over. It's an insane number
Regarding Excalibur from FFXI...............depending on which of the Arhturian legends you read the sword was returned to the Lady of the Lake, so getting it by fishing isn't that far fetched.
The defender shield in kingdom hearts 1 is a very hard drop I only got it when I grinded the same spot over and over
Falcon is sounding like Kenny from South Park but I can understand him
This is why I like mods.
I used to be some sort of a trophy hunter and there really are lots of people that don't care about enjoying the game at all, they just want the platinum; they don't even go for the 100% 🤦
I still care about completion, but it's more like a chore than a challenge for most games nowadays
The whole point is for them to be rare and the mindset of “it’s in the game so therefore I must be guaranteed to get it with little effort” is incorrect
zod rune in D2 lollllll Ive dropped multiple of those😂 try tyrael might armor, THATS a though one to drop
I never wanna spend my time trying to unlock something super rare, that’s why I was pissed off with Arkham Knight’s Riddler’s riddles 😤
Brilliant!
@@kendallcochran8262 more advice
Yeah what a troll move lol!!
Happy 4th of July to the Gameranx crew!
I had a Zod Rune. I never knew it was so rare. I wasted it on a sword during my first run on normal difficulty.
They don't drop in normal difficulty.
WIth full raid buffs, food and procs, I could temporarily get my armor above 80 thousand, for all that there was no need to do so, but
it was tenacious and so was I.
I could never unlock all the upgrades in that 2005 Punisher game. Still bugs me sometimes...
Oh, I thought you were talking about "gym bags."
A non-toxic team mate in any moba is rarest item u can get.
And here i thought 1/500 chance of getting heirloom shards in Apex Legends was bad
ive been struck by lightning. i guess that means i need to go find this obscure treasure.
What's the game in the thumbnail??
I think that world of warcraft.
As SgtStrawhead mentioned, It is a screenshot of a cinematic from World of Warcraft. Search WoW the war within cinematic.
@@mattplaine4670 cheers!! I remember it being from World of Warcraft somewhere!!
@SgtStrawhead no problem man 👌
No its actually from hollow knight silk song
Getting an Angeling card in Ragnarok Online is probably the rarest thing I ever got in a game (0.01% drop rate from a boss that only spawns in a handful of places and only once every 60-90 minutes)
Didn't know that hide of terra was so hard to get me and my brother got it pretty easily
I am all for having super rare things but like.. if you have to put in 40 hours a week 365 days a year to get like a decent chance of getting something why even have it in the game lmao
This was actually pretty funny! Narrator did great job!
Not sure if the chances have changed in resurrected, but I did end up finding a Zod rune. The reason people want it is not because it makes things indestructible, but because it is used in some OP runewords.
Thank you for the existential crisis :) Always appreciate that stuff
I was able to get the seitengrat though but by manipulating the RNG 😂
The star wars figure says 'yes, exaggerated' right next to it
lol thanks for watching!
If your doing mission always have it but youre farming on exploration in monster hunter you might not even have it spawn that run.
Where u getting this stats from bro. There is just no way 1 in 15k people get hit by lightning lol.
Something like 35 people die a year from it just in the US. So, more common than people think, and more than the number of people worldwide that die from shark attacks, but yeah, 1 in 15k still seems way low.
I've never obtained any of these, as I have never played any of these games 😂
At a certain point, it's like why even make the item at all? It's completely useless to send players false hope for these things.
Do you know why Chuck Norris doesn't have hair on his balls.....?????......????? because hair doesn't grow on steel!
I’ve found two Zod runes this year… and it’s not the rarest item in Diablo II. I believe Tyreals Might is the rarest item in Diablo II.
Yea. Screw trying to unlock any of this. I didn’t even make it to Biggoron’s sword
Well this is a no brainer for me because i’ve never heard of or played any of these games 😂
8:30 the OP name is deleted. So, is "big hand larry" a joke I'm not understanding or what's going on Falcon?
Btw I love how you guys don't just steal people's quotes, tips, quips, or jokes and actually give them recognition from reddit.
Does anyone know the game with the giant sword in the background?
Man. Seitengrat. I managed to get 3 of them in my playthrough
Love the bonus, 1 in 2.5M to the 40th power. OSRS players you now have a goal..
Good luck!!! :D
for anyone curious, 1x10^312 is a trecentillion.
FF12 was my favorite, never heard of that bow!
I like for Perfect Hide of Terra, the Reddit post you show literally argues that the numbers you gave make no sense. Highlighting the part you like doesn’t wipe out the rest. 😂
312 zeroes following a 1 is called a Tredecillion. FWIW
Much easier to say "a lot" 😂
@@ricekick there was a version of this post where I wrote out the entire number...
Seitengrat?? Oh the memories....I have 3 of them in my PS4 version 🤣
And...? Since I've completed the game like 3 times on my old PS2, I can do whatever I want 😉
You could do an entire list of just Borderlands 2 RNG nonsense.
Yeah that could be a fun video idea haha
Onyx is very common, just not from gem bags. Hell you cant buy it from the vendor.
me who hasn’t played any of these games: yes, you’re correct, i did not unlock those items
LOL any interest in picking these games up now?
The pendulum of doom drops regularly they must of changed it. When I used to play it dropped all the time.
Hmm thanks for letting us know! :)
