IIRC the layout of locations in the original trilogy was incongruent with reality, but done for the sake of the flow of the story. In this sequel, most of the locations are more accurately placed as they are IRL. The fact that they could make a seamless map means that the separate smaller maps aren't necessary anymore and thus they're free to have everything where it "should" be.
Across from the locked door room is a smaller room with a desk, the key is one the desk
