Hi, Sean! It appears you’re correct about the YT algorithm in relation to “negativity” lol Interesting video. Excellent list. I'm an original 1970s KISS fan, so your list pleases me greatly. For me, there's just no use for anything past 1983. And I could easily make this a Top 20 or 30. But this "Top 10 Worst" is right on the button. I don't think I would have, even, a Top 3 for the great 70s KISS. Nice job, Sean. Marc ⚡
Great video- pretty much agree with you not only on the songs but your take on Kiss in general. Huge Kiss fan- but depth of lyrics is hit and miss and they would be cancelled if they made some of these today.
The 70s is where KISS rocked, I've always loved Destroyer the best, then Love Gun and then Alive and Alive 2 followed by Rock and Roll Over, Dressed To Kill and then Dynasty ..🎸😁👍🤘
Great video Sean. From the 70s I'd add Love Theme From Kiss, Kissin Time, Then She Kissed Me. Their super fast songs were usually misses - I'd add No, No, No to that list.
Dude!!!! Odyssey is one of my very favorite kiss songs! Sure it’s not rock and roll or hard edge so much but what an amazing song. A masterpiece in my opinion. The elder itself with the exception of Mr Blackwell and escape from the island is an absolute masterpiece. But with Bob Ezrin at the helm, what else would one expect anyway?
@@Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn Yup. I especially like MR. BLACKWELL. I think it was an older composition that he re-tooled for THE ELDER. It's got such a dirty, funky riff. It's both got a classic Kiss riff and also feels very unique. With different lyrics (non-conceptual), it would have fit well on earlier albums or even CREATURES quite well.
@@endeaver7954 Indeed. I'm not saying ODYSSEY is the greatest Kiss song ever...but it's a lot better than JUST A BOY, which is really cheesy. ODYSSEY has its cheesy moments (Paul is a little too melodramatic in his vocal performance) but it has a nice arrangement and really nice chords. The piano work is excellent.
"Filler songs", but some of them is still memorable and still unique even today. "Love's a Deadly Weapon"..Always liked this one. It's kind of the only "Power Metal'ish" song Kiss ever made.
Kinda ironic. In 70s KISS critics called them style over substance band, but they became like that only after they took make up off. The Kulick line up had looks, could deliver amazing live show but songs just werent there. The only no make up era album that I like is probably Revenge
Hi Sean! Another really good list. I am one of those people that could not stand the majority of the albums that were released in the '80s. Quite a dry spell. In my opinion, if you took all of the hits from the '80s and created one album, it would have really rocked! It's hard to really tell which album I hated the most, Hot in the Shade, Asylum, or Crazy Nights. I do remember liking Animalize, but I guess I'm going to have to blow the dust off of those CDs and re-listen to them with your take due to your video and see where my judging in 2023 opinion comes in at.
I was a teen in the late 80s, so my first album was actually Smashes, Thrashes & Hits. Bar Music From The Elder, I owned all the KISS albums up until Hot In The Shade. Although the golden era ended after Unmasked for me. So, long story short, I agree with you because those early albums are just the best
I agree with 9 out of 10 songs on the list. I really like Dance all over your face. I never take the lyrics too seriously in any Kiss song, and turned up loud it kind of gives me a Love it Loud feeling. The other 9 are songs I skip when playing an album.... Well, maybe with the exception of The Odyssey. I rarely play the Elder, but usually play it straight through when I do. My worst Kiss songs overall is anything Paul sings in his high, almost falsetto voice, which from the early 80s to present is a pretty high percentage.
Great list. There’s definitely some clunkers in the catalog. I’ll be honest, there’s some songs that I secretly like, but I might be embarrassed if someone catches me listening to them. I sent you an email with a question and I would appreciate if you could respond if you have the time. Keep up the great work..
I aqm a huge Kiss fan. I have tried to count up the songs I love (over 40)... but I never thought to line up those that I do not love. And there are a lot of those too. You nailed it with your selection here. Thanks for the great video and insights!
It’s nice you didn’t go on a Peter and Ace bashing like a lot of over loyal fans do. TBF I used to like Kiss when I was a teenager where their basic and immature sexually charged lyrics were fun but 30 yrs later and all the politics, bitching, 23 year long farewell tour and backing track fiasco I have very little time for them. The fact that Gene and Paul rarely grew as musicians or writers shows that they are more interested in money over anything else.
My top 10 worst Kiss Songs: - Torpedo Girl - Under The Rose - I'm Alive - Bang Bang You - No, No, No - Let's Put The X In Sex - Read My Body - Little Caesar - I Confess - I Finally Found My Way
Spot on w/ Boomerang... I also love that you got in those two horrific ballads about a year apart in 97 and 98... I tend to like a lot of the 80's KISS - so the fact that I would have some other songs would be just based on opinion alone... But I love Odyssey... I like many of the other songs - Murder in High Heels, etc... What did you miss??? I Will Be There from COS??? There are a few other turds... But I did like your video and your research shows... Burn Bitch Burn doesn't get a mention??? I happen to dig that riff a LOT...
I bailed on KISS after Unmasked. When the only thing left for credibility with them was soon leaving with Ace Frehley. I was around 12/13. 1. Simmons had been dialing it in since at least 1975's Dressed To Kill. You can't beat what he contributes to KISS and Hotter Than Hell. In fact, if Hotter Than Hell had been recorded and mixed like Dressed To Kill OR KISS, I'd consider it the best album they ever put out. Everyone's contributing gold, Simmons, Stanley and Frehley are all giving good to great songs on Hotter Than Hell. There's no dropoff. Then you get to Dressed To Kill. This is where Paul Stanley has to pick up the slack when Simmons or Frehley don't have material that's beyond "Filler." And unfortunately Paul Stanley writes a lot of filler. "Love Her All I Can" is gold. "Rock Bottom" is great. Everything else he wrote on the album, is just kinda eh. But Simmons, beyond "She", isn't writing anything worthy of "Deuce" or "Watchin' You" here. And Frehley's "Getaway" is probably the Frehley song that rarely gets mentioned. The Criss vocal is great (he should have been their main singer) and the solo kicks ass, but the song is no Parasite, or Cold Gin, or Rocket Ride. Simmons started dialing it in on Dressed To Kill. On Destroyer he sets out to prove he's "more than just a tongue" (which he tried to prove again on his solo album. I personally call him a "sleazy genius". There's a guy there that has a lot of songwriting talent beyond his "image." But ... he can't escape that image.) Everything after Destroyer, is Gene just raking in the spoils (but they did work seriously hard to get where they wanted to go). Sometimes you'll get an Almost Human. Or a Christine Sixteen. Or a Calling Dr. Love. Maybe even Love 'Em and Leave 'Em. But the rest is just ... yeah. Dialed in. 2. Since I bailed in 1980, a lot of these albums I haven't heard. Not even "I Love It Loud" made me go back to them. But I did pick up, just out of curiousity, Animalize and Asylum. I thought "Heaven's On Fire" was alright. "Get All You Can Take" was kinda cool. "Tears Are Falling" was ok too, but there were just bands that were doing stuff like it, that were better. But I'm glad your list seemed almost entirely made up of post Ace Frehley KISS. I never bought The Elder, and I've listened to it. I won't be buying The Elder.
I can't disagree, especially since all of these songs come from the era after I lost interest in KISS. I would add "Tomorrow and Tonight", an obvious attempt to re-create the magic of "Rock and Roll All Nite".
I can agree with you on songs like Odyssey, I Finally Found My Way, Read My Body, and Murder In High Heels. I do love Boomerang (I can agree about the production tho) and Gimme More. Nothing Can Keep Me From You was a good song tho definitely had no place on the DRC soundtrack but it’d have been a good Box Set new track. I even like Love’s A Deadly Weapon tho not my favorite on Asylum (I admit I do prefer it over Uh! All Night). I admit I used to hate Cadillac Dreams, but I actually really like it now. I don’t have a top 10 least favorite KISS songs, but if I did, it would include most of the songs on Monster, Great Expectations, Then She Kissed Me, Torpedo Girl, Just A Boy (and Odyssey), Lonely Is The Hunter, Bang Bang You, Good Girl Gone Bad, Let’s Put The X In Sex, and We Are One. I was never a big fan of All Hell’s Breaking Loose. I know it’s kinda an 80s fan favorite, but it always annoyed me except for the chorus, especially because I thought A Million To One would have made a much stronger single/video.
great video sean, i agree with this list totally and i like the articulate way in which you describe why you dont appreciate it. it was interesting to hear.
I always thought there were stinkers on Love Gun. Christine 16. Tomorrow & tonight and Then She Kissed Me. If they had put All American Man, Rocket Ride Larger Than Life on Love Gun, it would’ve been one of the greatest rock albums ever recorded.
@rticle15 I'm not sure, but for me, things changed drastically when Creatures of the Night came out. I loved that album but it was a different band and I just lost interest in the subsequent albums. Maybe it was just me...
@@Dave---M i dont think it's you. They definitely shifted sound a bit. But to me every album in the 80s had at least on greatest hits worthy song. I get that some folks didnt love it though
I heard tell they are saving these very 10 songs to open their final show with! (Dis)honorable mentions go to 'Bang Bang You', & the Simmons nursery rhyme 'Tunnel of Love', IMHO.
I know many fans like I Still Love You off of Creatures. The studio version on this is my least favorite. I do like the Unplugged arrangement much better. I totally agree with #5 and #6. Another of my least favorites is Torpedo Girl off Unmasked. Another one I didn't care for was the track "Lonely Is the Hunter 😔"
I'd like to change "Dance All Over Your Face", "Love's a deadly weapon" and "Gimme more" with "Lonely is the hunter" and almost everything from "Monster", which is definately my least fav. KISS Album. (LiU is my fav. one beside "Dynasty") But I agree with the rest of your list Cool stuff. Keep up the good work. 🤘
1. Read My Body 2. God Gave Rock And Roll To You II 3. Bang Bang You 4. Kissin' Time 5. Odyssey 6. My Way 7. Hooligan 8. Tomorrow And Tonight 9. Easy As It Seems 10. You're All That I Want
Forever, Let's put the x in sex, and most everything after Animalize. Genes material on Animalize was pretty terrible though. I LOVE the 'lick it up' album but I kind of agree with "Gimme More". From classic KISS I'd have to say 'She', and 'Cold Gin' are both just plodding and really booooring. Similar for 'Firehouse'. I could live without hearing those three songs again. I LOVE 'Dance all over your face'. It's probably kind of a terrible song, but it was part of my first kiss experience as lick it up with my first album. I love that stupid song!
Lonely is the hunter, Somewhere between heaven and hell, Bang Bang You, Loves like a slap in the face, You love me to hate you, Prisoner of love. Btw. love the hair
1. Bang Bang You (this one is a crime against nature) 2. Christine Sixteen 3. Radar For Love 4. All of Unmasked 5. All of Carnival of Souls (except Jungle) 6. Domino 7. Thrills in the Night 8. All of Peter Criss '78 solo album 9. Modern Day Delilah (really, what do people see in this song?) 10. Secretly Cruel My Way is a bad Kiss song, but it's a good Journey song.
Good list Sean. Now my fav 10 KISS songs: Deuce Strutter Love her all I can Let me go, rock and roll Firehouse 100,000 years Domino Psycho Circus Hotter than hell Rock Bottom
Odyssey is a hidden gem (like the whole "the elder"....if you wanna hear some real cramps just listen to Tomorrow and tonight Then she kissed me We are one God gave Rnr to you and every song that made Kiss sounding like an older version of Bon Jovi-Def leppard
Glad to see the distain for 'Hot in the Shade'! 😅 Definitely a low point for the band... Back in the 90s I made a compilation album on a 100 min cassette, and included zero songs from that album! Keep up the lists! I seem to love the albums most fans hate like 'Music from the Elder' and 'Carnival of Souls'. 🤷🏻 😮 But I think KISS are the best American hard rock band EVER! They did change with the times, but I didn't care because at the core, they still rocked like nobody else! 🎉
Two songs I would've included were Let's Put the X in Sex and I Was Made For Lovin' You. The former for it's painfully and laughably bad song title and lyrics, and the latter for alienating the entire fan base for being a disco song.
I would have added : Tomorrow and Tonight. And then she kissed me. Great Expectations Hooligan I Still Love You X Ray Eyes Magic Touch Mainline All The Way Let Me Know
Solid list. I would take out "Read My Body" (only as I love 80s sex songs and Paul songs) and maybe substitute "Just a Boy" from The Elder. I'm not a huge Elder fan but I appreciate a little more as we all get older. Also, I might switch out "Gimme More" for "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell." You may not get anything from it but it gets me pumping where as the other is DOA.
Dude. Impressive. In order to list the "worst" Kiss songs implies you listened to ALL of their songs. I couldn't even imagine what damage that did. Remarkable endurance!
Every band....even the mighty Beatles...released some trash...you see...bands are under pressure to put out an album whether they have anything or not...so they have to throw in some filler songs...
Loved the video! A really respectfull review and opinion, i agree with all of them, personaly i really like the asylum album and animalize cuz i like energetic songs. But you really have good points on why not liking it. My opinion is that the only album from the 80s that is REALLY good is creatures of the night! Eric Carr drums are so sick in all of the albums, guess he was the only thing saving Kiss through the 80s

I liked Lick it Up, Animalize, and Asylum when they first came out. Crazy Nights was just ok. I hated Hot in the Shade. But all of them had TOO much jangly guitar, and no bottom end. Paul's opening songs were always over the top, bombastic, frenetic, but had no GROOVE. Vinnie, Mark, and Bruce all had that Yngwie Disease, just puking out billions of notes, none of them catchy or memorable.

He was refering to solo album material of Criss
@@falconater68wow, now that would have been mean. So I looked it up and was relieved it was really written by Criss and Penridge

Totally agree with each and every one of these you mentioned
Everything on the Elder, plus Beth.
There's 10 or more.
The way you feel about the Peter Criss solo, I feel about The Elder.
Hell, no! I love MR. BLACKWELL. It's got one of my favorite Ace solos ever. :)
SO...this guy picks odyssey? over just a boy??? what?
I, and Mr Blackwell were the most 'KISS' songs of the whole album!
MANYTHNX man🔥 really enjoy these videos
I actually like Cadillac Dreams, esp the brass section at the end. Just me though. Thanks for the vid.
Love your dry sense of humour Sean and your review style. I agree with every rating you've given except Odyssey.
Fantastic video. I really enjoyed it. I'm glad I stumbled across your channel, I'm now subscribed.
Great video, I've been a KISS fan since 1978. Will you tell me where you got your shirt?...I've been trying to find one like that 😀
It’s nice you didn’t go on a Peter and Ace bashing like a lot of over loyal fans do.
"Pour some sugar is a good song". 😂
You're very good at these ranking shows, hope to see more.
"The stallion and the bear" lol! I'm never going to hear that song the same way again.
My top 10 worst Kiss Songs:
- Torpedo Girl
- Under The Rose
- I'm Alive
- Bang Bang You
- No, No, No
- Let's Put The X In Sex
- Read My Body
- Little Caesar
- I Confess
- I Finally Found My Way
Spot on w/ Boomerang...
Turn on the night and tomorrow are my 80's favorite 2! Nothing to do with this but thought I'd throw that in.
great video sean, i agree with this list totally and i like the articulate way in which you describe why you dont appreciate it. it was interesting to hear.
Love that Pink Ranger/ Kimberly wall art.🖖🖖
I always thought there were stinkers on Love Gun. Christine 16. Tomorrow & tonight and Then She Kissed Me. If they had put All American Man, Rocket Ride Larger Than Life on Love Gun, it would’ve been one of the greatest rock albums ever recorded.
Id take Simmons "loves a deadly weapon" any day over Paul Stanleys: "And then she kissed me" on Love gun.
Then she kissed me is a cover of the 60s classic.
For me it's, "Burn Bitch Burn" or really, any Gene song from, "Animalize" through , "Crazy Nights."
Yeah, we all missed Ace and Peter too.
What difference would they have made in the songwriting department?
@rticle15 I'm not sure, but for me, things changed drastically when Creatures of the Night came out. I loved that album but it was a different band and I just lost interest in the subsequent albums. Maybe it was just me...
@@Dave---M i dont think it's you. They definitely shifted sound a bit. But to me every album in the 80s had at least on greatest hits worthy song. I get that some folks didnt love it though
@@rticle15 Agreed! Thanks for the rational exchange.
Nope not all of us. If I could go back in time and watch any version of kiss It would be mid 80's. But everyone likes different stuff....so...
I heard tell they are saving these very 10 songs to open their final show with! (Dis)honorable mentions go to 'Bang Bang You', & the Simmons nursery rhyme 'Tunnel of Love', IMHO.
I agree with every song you mentioned. But still like Christine Sixteen , especially the Vegas version.
Sean, I totally agree with you. After 1983 I couldn't get into Kiss.
Dude love this. My BFF who is a classic trained musician. Our favorite game pick the worst KISS song.
I'd like to change "Dance All Over Your Face", "Love's a deadly weapon" and "Gimme more" with "Lonely is the hunter" and almost everything from "Monster", which is definately my least fav. KISS Album. (LiU is my fav. one beside "Dynasty")
But I agree with the rest of your list
Cool stuff. Keep up the good work. 🤘
Don't really care what you think about kiss songs ,they are all great
He wasn’t wrong about the algorithm. This is one of his most viewed videos ever.
The highest since the Guitar Kisstory vids which were 2 years ago
1. Read My Body
2. God Gave Rock And Roll To You II
3. Bang Bang You
4. Kissin' Time
5. Odyssey
6. My Way
7. Hooligan
8. Tomorrow And Tonight
9. Easy As It Seems
I can honestly agree with majority of this list, but I have to say honestly I’m a big fan of Cadillac dream.
Great list, my friend
1. Bang Bang You (this one is a crime against nature)
2. Christine Sixteen
3. Radar For Love
4. All of Unmasked
5. All of Carnival of Souls (except Jungle)
6. Domino
7. Thrills in the Night
8. All of Peter Criss '78 solo album
9. Modern Day Delilah (really, what do people see in this song?)
10. Secretly Cruel
My Way is a bad Kiss song, but it's a good Journey song.
Great video. "Hot in the Shade" is my least favorite KISS album, and "Cadillac Dreams" is the one KISS song I can't listen to.
Great list. Add "Fits like a Glove" (worst chorus in the history of music) and your list will be perfect :)
Good list Sean.
Now my fav 10 KISS songs:
Deuce
Strutter
Love her all I can
Let me go, rock and roll
Firehouse
100,000 years
Domino
Psycho Circus
Hotter than hell
Rock Bottom
Great video. Choices are well explained and the arguments well informed.
Odyssey is a hidden gem (like the whole "the elder"....if you wanna hear some real cramps just listen to
Tomorrow and tonight
Then she kissed me
We are one
God gave Rnr to you and every song that made Kiss sounding like an older version of Bon Jovi-Def leppard
I’ve never heard the songs on the majority of your list and after hearing them I NEVER want to hear them again so GREAT JOB 👏 👏👏
.."easy as it seems" and "escape from the island"..fillers.. :)
Simple answer, every song without Peter & Ace
Glad to see the distain for 'Hot in the Shade'! 😅 Definitely a low point for the band... Back in the 90s I made a compilation album on a 100 min cassette, and included zero songs from that album! Keep up the lists! I seem to love the albums most fans hate like 'Music from the Elder' and 'Carnival of Souls'. 🤷🏻 😮 But I think KISS are the best American hard rock band EVER! They did change with the times, but I didn't care because at the core, they still rocked like nobody else! 🎉
Just subscribed. I like your input, interesting pov’s. I don’t want to miss any more from you.
Awesome, thank you very much!
Spot on; I am a KISS fan from their early days when Rock and Roll was something you did all night (and party every day).
Two songs I would've included were Let's Put the X in Sex and I Was Made For Lovin' You. The former for it's painfully and laughably bad song title and lyrics, and the latter for alienating the entire fan base for being a disco song.
I would have added :
Tomorrow and Tonight.
And then she kissed me.
Great Expectations
Hooligan
I Still Love You
X Ray Eyes
Magic Touch
Mainline
All The Way
Let Me Know
I have listened to them all. He is pretty spot on
Every band....even the mighty Beatles...released some trash...you see...bands are under pressure to put out an album whether they have anything or not...so they have to throw in some filler songs...
My Top 10 Worst KISS Songs (updated)
10. Beth
9. Rock 'N' Roll Hell
8. You Love Me To Hate You
7. My Way
6. Goin' Blind
5. Kissin Time
4. Then She Kissed Me
3. Torpedo Girl
2. A World Without Heroes
1. God Gave Rock 'N' Roll To You II
I listen to Odyssey every night before I go to sleep.
Good list 👍 What happened to your KISS album reviews?
He finished the series i'm pretty sure
@@darkraven5459 yeah I know but I liked to revisit those video's and I can't see those on the channel
@@wbfwbl8434 oh Sean told me that they got taken down for copyright issues for some reason
@@darkraven5459 copyrights ... I just love those m....s who sit behind their desks and try to show they are doing important work for those big corps. Same shit like the consulting advisors who take money for delivering a list of people to drop. Because of shit like this I'm not against piracy
There’s a community post on my channel explaining it in more detail but I got a copyright strike on my Hotter Than Hell review so I took them all down to avoid potentially losing the channel.
1 Domino
2 Spit
3 Murder in High Heels
4 Boomerang
5 Yes I Know
6 The Street Giveth
7 No, No, No
8 Paralyzed
9 Walls Come Down
10 Anything For My Baby
Very solid list Sean. I would add “Burn bitch burn” in there somewhere. “ I wanna put my log in your fireplace”? Easily the dumbest line ever put in a song!
The Animalise album (minus Heaven's On Fire), & Carnival of Souls Album.
I'm at the Odyssey part of the video.
My guy this is a huge fricking insult. 🤣🤣
Cool list.... the two songs on your list that would also appear on mine is Nothing Can Keep Me From You, and I Finally Found My Way
My other least favorite KISS songs, in no order
Kissin' Time
Great Expectations
Easy As It Seems
I Still Love You (It just drags for me)
Good Girl Gone Bad
Spit
Dreamin'
Eat Your Heart Out
I liked Lick it Up, Animalize, and Asylum when they first came out.
Agree with all, except for Odissey, I would add to your list See You In Your Dreams from RARO and some other Asylum songs
Thanks for posting! I was a KISS fan for years, until Peter and Ace left, then stayed through everything until Hot In The Shade. That was my breaking point. Until Psycho Circus. That was the only KISS music that I actually bought. Pleasently surprised by it. Not a fan of Gene or Paul. KISS just isn't KISS without the original members, no matter how good the replacements are. Thanks again for posting! Peace! And have a great day! Now...what are your 10 BEST KISS songs? First time on your channel....Keep up the great work!
10 best is a way harder mission
Dude for sure. I would genuinely have a hard time with that.
My favorite is God Gave Rock and Roll to You. Shout it out Loud would probably be top ten. I'd have to think about it for a while.
KISS was on top in the 70`s and early 80` they come back with Revenge and MTV Unplugged. Kiss was my first Heavy Metal band and then in the 80`s all bands was coming up fast.
Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, DIO, Ozzy Ozbourne, Motorhead, AC/DC osv. But Kiss albums from the 80`s was not so goog as before. But i still plays my Kiss albums and DVD`s.
I`m a big ACE FREHLEY fan. I was 8 years old when ACE solo album come out in 1978. And i liked them all albums from the early days.Stay Metal.
I just downloaded Apple Music and was working on Kiss playlists (I'd say mostly complete albums that I take songs out of) and came back to give some hate to Bang Bang You. 😂
Can't argue with this list. Around that time when the makeup came off I felt that was a huge mistake and distanced myself from the group a bit although they had some good songs during the no makeup era for sure.
Unmasked album was atrocious
As a massive Kiss Fan i love your videos. Greetings from germany
Fan since 77. Only 10 is tough but 5 would be Detroit Rock City,Rock and Roll all Night, Love Gun, Dr Love and both Kiss Alive 1 and two.
Whe share the #1 at least🙂
Gimme more is soooo far from Kiss, but straight up my alley at the time, listening to Accept, Anvil and Maiden... So I actually REVERSE that song and place it Top-20...
Odessey... Booh or Yaa...? Personally? I listen to the album in whole every once in a while... Ok, Budd, It's not a Kiss song... So I agree, eventhough It's a great song/album!!!
Whatever - I totally LOVE that people like you share your thoughts about the greatest band ever 🥂🙏
Love from Sweden 💖
