I wish somebody could answer one question. How are all those on the Midland line and soon to be airport line as well, how are they going to get to the stadium? (and back again). A massive upgrade of East Perth station thinking everyone will walk from there but they won't. Not on a cold black wet night. So everyone will pack out Claisebrook station to the point of thousands of people jostling for a Midland/Airport/Forrestfield train while nobody will have walked to East Perth where the $Millions were spent on upgrading. Claisebrook will simply not be able to cope with those wanting to change trains there. So what then? Everyone who wants to go on the eastern line stays on the trains right into the city to then try and change there? Instead of spending hundreds of millions of $Dollars on a silly gimmick footbridge which has no provision for light rail as well as pedestrians, a spur line from the East Perth station should have been built and the loose change left over used for the footbridge..... How on earth can anyone justify spending so much money on an arty farty silly looking footbridge to take yahoos to the football and back for six months of the year when a rail spur connecting the Eastern line to the South Eastern line is what is really needed to effectively move massive crowds from the stadium and also 'cross town' travelers. Can anyone honestly say that on a day of a howling rainstorm that anyone is going to get off at East Perth and walk and then return later the same way that night? That's just my take on what I see as a balls up coming our way.
