Brilliant! 1:48 to 2:05 that sequence of play sums up Zidane's brilliance in this game. His intelligent movement & passing as the central playmaker & his ability to create something special from nothing as seen at the end of that sequence where he magically created a goal scoring opportunity...
I never saw this game: again exquisite from ZZ. I realised his standard was very high and consistent at least for the National team. We were deprived of his true peak in WC 2002. If he were fit, France would have performed much much better...I also think his national teammates who were EPL based were plain jealous of him : Pires Vieira Henry all could have done so much better with ZZ in the team!

I remember seeing this goal in the news at that time. To be honest, he looked tired in this game, and was not in great form in the entire 2004 Euro cup (still scored 3 goals in 4 games), probably mostly due to the sudden decline of the whole Real Madrid team in the last few games in the 03/04 season --- it was a tiring and disappointing season. But I think people often underestimate his mentality, he never gives up. Even if he was not playing his best, he just kept trying. You seldom see him disappearing in a game.
