Der Kaiser is right up there with Franco Baresi has my all time favourite players. Those guys knew how to command a team to win! Keep the unreal videos of footballers from the past coming my friend.
Football never looked so easy. His style is so efortless. His timing was 100/100. His touch was 100/100. Together with Zidane right on top of the most elegant players of all time. You have to imagine how heavy and clumsy this balls were back in the day + the messed up pitches.

This video blew my mind. I knew the man was good but damn he is out of this world. It's like watching cruyff at times I honestly had no idea he was this good. I feel ashamed for not watching more of the guy. Wow!!! that's all I can say
I grew up watching football in late 80s. Never watched him played live. Looking back the way he played, I am completely amazed how complete a footballer he was, he can defend, he can attack, he can orchestrate the play, he can score, just he could do everything. Nowadays no defenders play like this. The last of this kind I believe was Franco Baresi. Such a beautiful way of play to watch. This is what we call art of football He is absolutely up there with Pele and Maradona for the fact that he created a libero role in football. A status beyond Platini, Gullit, Zindane, Messi, Ronaldo
Franz Beckenbauer he has to be on any list of the best of all time, what a ball kill, what tackles on the ball, what launches, vision of the game, he was from defender to attack, for sure, he was on the field, he was 80 percent of team
As a defender he played the game so effortlessly, he just glided around the pitch. Laser like passing, extremely quick he read the game like he wrote it, just a truly great defender.
there's no contemporary player comparable to him. he was such an artistic player having bohemian touches to the ball, playing the game with his brain than his foot and make you feel this, all the way. i could call him as the "the most beatiful mind" of football game.
A dark day for soccer, never seen a better defender who was a true leader on the pitch. But at least what I saw on TV the kindest man… A great man has passed RIP…
He invented position he played, called "Libero"...or "Free". Primary job was defending, however, he also played midfield and offense. He played the same role on Bayern FC, and for he German national team. Both were very successful for years, because of him. Pretty much entire Bayern defense played for the national team, so those players knew each other extremely well, and learned to cover for Beckenbauer once he decided to move forward with the ball. This style of player eventually died out, as football got more robotic and by the book.
Thats not correct. Libero/ sweeper existed before Beckerbauer played it. In Germany the First team to Play with a Libero was Werder Bremen with Helmut Jagielski in 64/65. But Franz is probably the best Libero of all time.

@@HequinoX Hmm, I understand. Fritz Walter, I feel, is underrated today as very few people will know about him. He was the best German footballer until Beckenbauer came. He united Germany in a way after captaining the national team and lifting the 1954 World Cup, and gave German football a distinct identity. Not to mention, his West Germany defeated the more fancied Hungary of Puskas. He assisted 2 goals if I'm not wrong. I've read that many people would consider him of a similar stature as Beckenbauer ( he was better for many). He was the star man of the 1954 batch of legends having the likes of Schafer, Morlock, Helmut Rahn, Posipal, Eckel. The worse the weather became, the better he played - which gave rise to the phrase "Fritz Walter weather". Still, Lothar Matthaus among the top 3 Germans of all time is something I agree with fully.
Too many incredible footages in the video. His immediate recovery from tackles and pinpoint long pass after interception shows how athletic, smart and skillful he has been.

What are you on about? The sport has become way more athletic... And they're not lazy... The position Beckenbauer played doesn't exist anymore.
If a player attempted to run across the field like Beckenbauer, he'd get decapitated by Guardiola, Klopp, Ancelotti, Alonso, ...
@@Confucius202 This level of athletisism is only possible due to further developed training methods, modern medical treatments and nutrition. Highly skilled players like Beckenbauer, Pele would also benefit from that if they played these days. Their skills would still make the difference.

This is what we call art of football
He is absolutely up there with Pele and Maradona for the fact that he created a libero role in football.

DESCANSE EM PAZ, LENDA!!! MELHOR ZAGUEIRO DE TODOS OS TEMPOS!!!
