These are my new favourite thing, thanks to you for demystifying that. The person who was into this harness before me, preferred to cut and then resolder the wires individually. I’m about to go and get the proper tools and rectify that. Again, thanks to you.
Thank you for the great video!!!!! Even better was the camera was kept stable!!! Quick, clean and clear without all the long winded spiel and nauseating camera bobbing!!! Well done!!! : )
I recently bought a motorbike where there were one of these female plugs either side of the engine tangling going back to the battery. After some hunting I found the name printed on the plug and looked them up which lead me to this youtube video. great. Thank you.
Thank you! There are no clear cut instructions on this from TE about the Deutsch connectors. However, we recommend erring on the side of caution and going with the Female side as this is the standard practice.
Do it, I working in the oilfield of west and south Texas as an Electronic Technician (E-Tech), we use Deutsch connectors all the time, GREAT CONNECTORS, and the Deutsch tool & crimpers are every e-techs tool bag. They rarely fail when put together correctly.
@WireCare Went good. Bought a cheap kit, and some extra pins and now I can make a solid removable connection on any low amp circuit. It is very handy for putting through a firewall grommet as with the plug stripped off the pins and wires don't need a big hole. Can strip the wire and crimp them on the tailgate instead of in some cramped spot under the dash.
Thanks for the video! It took me far too long to find out that I need a hook tool to remove the wedge in the female connector... In thee end I bent a tiny flat head screwdriver with a pair of pliers... Maybe a hook/pick set will do the job in the future? Thanks again for the info!
I had to get a new light bar and the Deutsch connection is a larger deutsch DT-P connection. Can I pull the old cable apart and replace it with the new DT-P connection?
As long as your wires can support the increase in amperage with the new light bar then you should be ok, just switching them out. The DTP will handle up to 25 amps so your wires should be 10-14 gauge.
Hi, Can you use different gauge contacts in the same housing?, I bought a 16 gauge plug but my wires are a bit too thick, am wondering if I can buy some 12 or 14 gauge contact and use them in the same plug. Thanks
Simple Q ... I have DT06-6S - I don't have a specific crimp tool for Deutch (only fitting 2 plugs) .. could a standard ratchet tool for insuated crimp lugs/eyelets be used .... or maybe even solder ?
Hey Josh...Hahahah, we hear you on that. We'll probably be doing a quick video on that as well. After getting the wedgelock out, you just need a small flathead screwdriver to depress the tab inside the housing that holds each contact. While depressing, just pull the respective wire and it should come right out. Hope that helps!
From what you said, it seems as though you have 2 options. You can buy the solid pins and/or sockets and use the crimper you have or buy the crimper that works with the stamped and formed contacts. Please reach out to customer service at info@wirecare.com so we can better understand your situation.
Unfortunately not. You would want to go with the DTM Series which accepts 18-22 awg wire. These come in 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 12 pin arrangements and are good for about 6 amps. www.wirecare.com/category/connectors-terminals/deutsch-connectors/dtm-series-connector
plugs are great but the plastic is rubbish, it breaks always you try to deassemble it, still didnt find ideal plugs as strong and durable as old VAG connectors
Whichever one you want! There isn’t really an official standard. And they might even be used for something other than power so maybe neither of them are positive.
It's all part of the 'piss you off' experience, together with these aggravating plugs that have no strain-relief and need a $100 tool to crimp the forks. Who but our lovely German cousins could dream up something so ludicrously over-engineered and over-complicated?
No, it's this stupid plug that requires special crimpers and a training manual and lots of tiny pieces that you will quickly lose....exasperating product, beautifully engineered to piss you off to the very brink.

Great video. Love that backing track too!
I just got prob 40 Deutsch connector jumpers from my buddy. Gonna dismantle them and buy some pins after watching this

Yeah, the hook tool is the key for removal of the wedgelock from the male housing.

Thank you. I am making aux/accessory connection for my Harley.
i realize I am quite randomly asking but do anybody know a good website to stream new series online?
@Frederick Maximiliano I would suggest FlixZone. Just google for it =)
@George Michael yea, I've been watching on FlixZone for years myself :)
@George Michael Thank you, I went there and it seems to work =) Appreciate it!
@Frederick Maximiliano you are welcome :D
which saxophone should i get and how many millimetres from my ear?
We strongly suggest an alto sax if you're just starting out.
Thank you! It was really helpful.
good video, had no idea you can disassemble Deutsch connectors.
More detail in video please. Which side pin goes in which side housing.
Great suggestion! Thank you. The female socket goes in the male plug housing. The male pin goes into the female receptacle housing.
Yeah I just spent quite a while troubleshooting why they weren't working. I had the female pins with female terminals
Thank you very much! 👍👍

Only two pin connector..I have a four pin.
Looks different
The four pin works exactly the same as the 2 pin.
hey i messed up on trying to crimp the pins to the wires... where can i get more for "cheep"?

Thank you, I'm making a disconnect for my motorcycle saddlebags.
“All you need is a Properly crimped wire”
What type crimp is recommended
These are good connectors
Thank you
I am supplier for Deutsch terminal extraction tool, do you interest them?
can you solder instead if crimping
Hey FansSports...yes you can solder instead of crimping. We have a number of customers that solder. However, Deutsch does recommend crimping.
Thank you!
